a pretty good sounding recording of a really neat show, before they start playing amy and emily explain to the crowd that they had their manager poll the first twenty people in line to see if would be okay if they played the entire, as yet unreleased, "shaming of the sun" record in order, and that the answer was yes. they also said they flipped a coin that came up no, but were doing it anyway. the songs are super fresh with the live arrangements still being worked out, and ulali sits in on several of them, including "blood quantum". highly recommended.

an excellent sounding recording of a very special acoustic duo show from about a month before "shaming of the sun" was released. almost all the new record gets played, including a ten minute "everything in its own time", which is started over in the middle, and a really intense "cut it out". also includes an amazing "chiapas bound" with some terrific guitar work from emily. and not to be missed, a twice started "shame on you" complete with an out of tune banjo and snippets of the theme from deliverance and brown eyed girl.

a really good sounding recording of the last night of the 1997 tour. as the last nights often have been, is closed out with an amazing setlist and a number of guest performances. from both amy and emily being in great voice, to mrs fun adding a whole new dimension to "shed your skin", "language or the kiss", and "crazy game", to vonda shepard, to sara lee and jerry marota, to david ellison on the harmonica, to amy and emily arranging to pass out water to the crowd right before "get out the map", to the stream of conscious lyrics and the awesome guitar work on "scooter boys", to this being from the days when amy did not leave any of the lyrics out of "shame on you", to emily and vonda trading vocals on "midnight train to georgia", is a great show. highly recommended.
