isn't that a bit more cpu time than usual? i bet the machine was thinking about
whether to let such a great listee deprive the list of her talents by
unsubscribing, before it would let you. :-)

in addition to what marsha said, 4 1/2 is an import from the uk...i
bought it used from a cd store for $23, which is more than what marsha
listed (lucky her!...seems i'm always overpaying for items!)...anyway,
it's billed as "the best of the indigo girls...15 songs including closer
to fine...features rem, jackson browne, david crosby, mary chapin
carpenter...melody maker says 'a tasteful indulgence' and billboard says
'a true delight not to be missed'"...i enjoy the cd myself...the tracks
are:
1. joking
2. hammer and nail
3. kid fears
4. galileo
5. tried to be true
6. power of two
7. pushing the needle too far
8. reunion
9. closer to fine
10. three hits
11. least complicated
12. touch me fall
13. love's recovery
14. land of canaan
15. ghost

4 1/2 contains one small picture of the indigo girls on the back of the
cd cover, and on the inside booklet...the front cover has a big ol' bird
on it...and it's actually listed as 4.5 on the cd, not 4 1/2...i hope
that this info helps...if you can find it, i'd recommend it, but then i
buy just about anything that has ig on it <smile>....@=d take care, jen

for all the dc-area listers, here's the scoop once more on michelle
malone at the 9:30 club this weekend...

(this info is taken from the web, http://930.com/ and from calling the
club...)

the 9:30 club   (202) 265-0930

saturday, august 2, 1997

opening: michelle malone
headlining: jackopierce and delamitri

doors open at nine, and the lady said mm would likely start around 9:15,
a little earlier than usual b/c jp and delamitri need to get about equal
time. she'll likely play until around 10, i guess and then jp and then
del amitri.

tickets are $12 and you can get them at a bunch of places - see the web -
or email if you don't have web access. i think that's about all i know!

i haven't quite solidified my plans yet, but i'm going to do my best to
get there.  i'm kinda shy :), but come say hi if you think you see me - i've
got long brown hair and i guess i look pretty young 'cause i still get
carded at movie theatres...

hope to see some of y'all there!

- cheryl

ok, y'all--

due perhaps to lack of sleep, an overabundance of caffeine, and that
between-paycheck-all-i-have-in-the-house-is-bread-delerium--combined with
the fact that i have no life--i've written a breakfast parody for the
list masses.  be afraid.  be very afraid.

(disclaimer:  i just joined the list last week, so i apologize if
someone's already done something similar--if i'm ripping you off, i truly
am doing it unawares! :) )

toast (with big apologies to es)

there's some jelly on the counter that i spilled two weeks before
might be grape--might be raspberry--ah, my crusty, sweet *amor*
and i start to feel a craving for some breakfast--quaker oats
or cream of wheat may have more fiber, but i'm longing for some toast...

now the white bread's got a shelf-life that expired in mid-july
and blue mold blooms on the bagels we forgot we bought--
not a hint of english muffin, jewish rye, or sourdough--
but in the kitchen something's burning--still, my desire's for naught--

'cuz there's not enough bread in this house for us both--
you woke up first; my luck is cursed--(i'm starving, by my troth!)--
don't want canteloupe or melon, and grapefruit's just plain gross--
i'm in love with your toast.

dark and golden-brown and lukewarm--like your eyes, you stupid dork--
(strawberry jam . . . .)
when your toast pops up i fight the urge to stab you with my fork--
(strawberry jam . . . .)
when you slather on the butter, and you're crunching, snacking, noshing--
i will scrutinize your saucer--steal the crusts when you're not watching--

and i feel it:  starch depletion!  (how my stomach's killing me . . . )
and i'm wishing that i had my own organic grainery--
don't ply me with your scrambled eggs, your cereals from post--
i'm in love with your toast.

unfeeling muncher--i'm runnin' really low on--
carbohydrates--(6 to 8 servings?!)
can you taste it, a slice of whole wheat?
i can't believe you're snarfing the last piece--
as you sop your bacon grease--

now i see the crumbs before me--i would chomp 'em if i could--
but they're ground into the corners of your mouth--and it's no good
to try to kiss me after breakfast--babe, not even listerine
can wash the crime that you've committed into breath that's minty-clean--

sure, i'm bitter--but missed breakfasts twist a butter-knife-wound deep--
(the most important meal of the whole day, you mooching creep!)
my marmalade's in misery, my margarine's morose--
in love with your toast . . .
(you are snarfing the last piece . . . )

um--i'm gonna go have breakfast now.  peace in whole grains, y'all!

melissa :)

cancer...it's also only $10...i bought one and have enjoyed it (and am
keeping mine - smile)...there's a song on there from just about every
performer involved with lf...the indigo girls contribution was "shame on
you," the album version, nothing acoustic or new or anything...the same
is true of the others i believe...tracy chapman's song was from her
record "new beginnings," as was jewel's, sheryl crow's, paula cole's,
fiona apple's, sarah's, etc...

        so what's the deal?...i'm heading towards the montreal lilith
fair and am happy to pick up this cd for those of y'all who want one...if
you want one, just email me back and i'll give you the sase + the $10 you
need to send for the cd info....oh yeah, i don't know how the lf in
montreal is going to handle money...i obviously will have us money and
hopefully it won't present a problem...all in all, i like the cd...nice
sampler of all the artists, plus great cause!....

        i also have two extra lilith fair tapes tha are free to whomever
wants it...just email me...if i get more than 1 person who wants this,
i'll grab extras for the others at the next lilih fair...the tape
features all the second stage performers...

        take care, @=d jen

ps i may have one ticket to sell (for face value) for the montreal lilith
fair (which includes the indigo girls, jewel, lisa loeb, and sarah)...let
me know if you'd be interested in that too...

since it hadn't been mentioned as yet, and lf is coming fast and furious!
(only 2 1/2 more weeks!!)  i thought i'd throw down the gauntlet and see if
anyone attending lf on friday, august 15th wants to meet before the show...

ontario place has a ton of bars/restaurants...so i figured i'd chose one and
see what happens ;)

the spot will be breakers (which is directly south of the cinesphere), it
has a great patio, decent food and beer! (sound familiar kadster??)

if anyone is interested in doing this, please email me privately (no need to
clutter the list with this stuff) and i'll try to arrange something.

have a great day :))

subject:      ig dreams...
mime-version: 1.0
content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

hello everyone,

well, last week i had a sad ig dream, but decided to wait to post it.
the other night i had a pretty cool ig dream.  so, here they both are...

first the sad dream...

i was at my house/apartment (which in rl is actually my partner's aunt's
house) and realized that my across-the-street-neighbors were the indigo
girls, or that ig were visiting my neighbors (across the street).  i
decided to walk over and say, "hi."  as i crossed the street, amy and
emily were getting out of a black "off-road-ish" vehicle.  then, real
friendly-like, as if the girls were *my* friends, i say, "amy."  but, amy
doesn't hear me, it seems.  so, i say, "emily," in that hey-there-friend
kinda way. emily, likewise, does not respond.  i start to realize that
they're ignoring me, but in a very passive kind of way.  (ok, maybe that's
the way ignoring people works)  so, i was pretty sad that my friends, who
are also "famous," are dissin' me.  and i woke up feelin' sad...

ok, happy dream time...

i start out about 10 rows back (amy side) at an ig concert.  apparently, a
friend of mine was going to play along with amy and emily during
chickenman.  i was quite excited for my friend.  my friend knew ahead of
time that he was going to get to perform, and we had decided to write
him a part to sing at the part where amy sometimes has a soc.  we had
written it down on a piece of paper with black marker.  it mentioned
something about an organization (job, school?) we are both in, but i'm not
sure of the exact reference.  so, it's chickenman time and my friend is up
on stage.  (odd note: this friend isn't any friend in rl, just some guy)

at this point in my dream, i become my friend.  now, *i'm* on stage, black
guitar in hand (not amy's martin, my partner's cheap one), listening to
the familiar sounds of chickenman. it reaches the part in the song where
amy's soc goes, and i try to sing the part we wrote.  i'm having a hard
time because i don't know what i'm doing.  i think it was nerves. :)  i
don't think i'm actually playing the guitar.  but, i *am* making some
pretty lousy attempts at belting out the lines correctly.  so, i keep
trying to get it right, but keep repeating the beginning.  i start to get
nervous that i'm gonna run out of "break," and i won't leave any space for
the "cool reference" (at the end of our "lyrics") that my friend and i
wanted so much to sing.

then i realize the crap that i just sang, amy repeated after me, in a much
cooler, raspier, music-like kind of way.  i think this is pretty cool.
this happens a few more times.  i don't remember what we were singing
but, i'm pretty sure it had some "yeah"s in it.  i quit worrying that i
won't be able to include my reference, because singing with amy, in a
totally unrehearsed nature, is quite fabulous. :)

then, however, instead of going into, "i was on the road to austin..." amy
just ends the song.  i wasn't expecting this.  before realizing the song
was about to end, i had felt the need to strum my guitar.  so, i did.
thrice.  i have no idea what chord i played, because i only know a few,
and don't know which one i *should* have been playing.  but, to me, it was
obvious that i was playing the wrong chord.  and the fact that i was
playing these chords after amy *ended* the song made me feel quite silly.
but, i was already into it and couldn't stop myself.  by this point i was
also kind of in a stupor.  another weird thing was that the sound which
was amplified from my acoustic guitar sounded like an electric guitar's
feedback noise.  so, i was a little confused.

not to fear.  the lights go down and amy looks over towards me and says
something like, come over here, i wanna sign that for you.  i realize i
have a cigarette in my hand and amy wants to scrawl her name on it.
trying not to sound disrespectful, i say to amy something like, oh,
please, i don't want to have to keep a cigarette *forever*.  i said this
because i figured a piece of paper or something would "keep" better than a
cigarette.  (note: as this was occurring, i felt it was odd that amy
wanted to do this, because the "break" between songs would be awfully
long.   later, i reasoned, maybe this is the break between the "last" song
and the encore)  amy walks towards the back of the stage (around where
sara lee usually is.  but, i didn't see her in my dream...) and puts the
cigarette in a metal ash tray.  then she starts to look/ask around for a
piece of paper...

i woke up before she found one, but was not disappointed.  it was one of
the most awesome ig dreams *i've* ever had.  another random note, for
anyone who's keepin' track, (and i hope you're not :) the first (sad)
dream was only the third ig dream of mine where i was not at a concert.
interesting...  well, i'm done for *now*. :)

peace y'all, melissa

        imagine my joy and surprise (well, until i actually read it that

the cover (my new fixation/ mildly disturbing obsession developed upon
seeing the wallflowers in concert two nights ago) to find it containing

        even happier note, received 1200 curfews from my grandmother for

hi,

from 1991 till 1995 i have been collecting ig audio tapes of concerts and
interviews. i stopped about two years ago. not because i didn't like the
indigo girls anymore...no! i love the indigo girls (on my radio show i keep
calling them the best band of this century!)......i just didn't have time
anymore to trade and collect. anyway, i have made my own selection of the
stuff i want to keep and have about 60 tapes (1986 - 1994) available that i
want to trade for copies of xena episodes (season 1 and 2, not sky2
broadcasts, they cut scenes). i also have two videos to trade: live at the
uptown lounge and jesus christ superstar a resurrection (both ntsc) and some
other ig stuff.
i can not copy stuff and the xena episodes are the only thing i will trade for.
anyone who is interested please e-mail me at rockrose@worldaccess.nl (i have
a list available).

peace,
cj

mime-version: 1.0

hey!  this afternoon is the igs first lilith fair tour date, but i haven't
seen much posted about that on the list!  it's here in raleigh, nc, and the
weather should be great- forecast of 78 deg to welcome the girls to the state.

a local entertainment weekly, "the spectator," published an interview (given
july 9) with emily which was pretty good.  among other things, the
interviewer said that b/c she called him exactly on time, he "knew that [he]
was in the aural presence of one of the most punctual women in north
america."  now, that's one description of emily you don't hear every day!
he also relayed that she was pissed about the poor rolling stone review- but
(maybe to make up for that?) gave this review in the discology section:

"igs: sots:  the latest from amy and emily is one of their best.  i'm more
convinced than ever that this duo is not about to lighten up or kick back
and stop being creative and adventuresome.  emotional honesty and openness
intact, the indigos don't mind a bit of risky business here and there
throughout sots.  they've got some jammin' going on, a little hurdy gurdy
action, some nice electric guitar work, a couple of happening loops and they
close out with a cool amy tune bolstered by a great arrangement - "hey kind
friend."  this is a winning project at several levels.  igs will be at
walnut creek july 30, doing a set at lilith fair." - philip van vleck.  the
spectator july 24-july 30 (no permission whatsoever given to type this up!)

looking forward to seeing igs in less than 11 hours, for the first time
since jan. 91!

ok, "redemtion dream"     here goes:

first few measures (6 i think) are dead strings with a wah wah pedal (i
usually leave this part out)

chords
e a d g b e - strings lowest to highest
x 0 2 2 x x  = a
x 0 2 2 0 x = a9
x 3 2 3 x x =  c7
x 2 1 2 x x = b7
x 4 3 4 x x = c#7
x 5 4 5 x x = d7
x 7 6 7 8 x = e7#9
x 0 5 8 x x = am7#4(the fingering is right, i'm not sure about the name
a,g,d# ?)

a                       c7                b7                         am7#4
a                       c7                b7                         am7#4

a
up ahead in the distance i can hear the cannon blast
a9
                                                                          a
questioning who killed the king, still echoing from the past
c7                 c7               c7          c7              c7
c#7 fredom rings the bullet slings shot up into the night
d7         d7           d7       d7            e7#9
baby's dead the headline read who's gonna stop the fight
a                    c7                     b7                    am7#4
let the ligtning crash and let the thunder rumble
a                  c7              b7                      am7#4 let it
burn the flesh of the proud and humble
            c7              b7          c7             b7            let
the earth take its turn and burst at the seams
    c7     b7          a             c7                b7            am7#4
in my redemtion dream

the rest of the song basically follows this.  in the "a   c7    b7
am7#4"
lines each chord is repeated twice using an eight note followed by a
dotted quarter note.  during the "c7, c#7, d7, e7#9" thing the rythem is
syncopated.
feel free to post this to the list of you think anyone else would be
interested.

garsh this sure does look familiar--could be because it was posted a few
days ago by me :) :).  amyray, i am posting to get more names of people
interested in getting together at lilith in chicago at the world.  if you
have already emailed me about this you do not need to reply to me again
because i have your name.  you should have received a "hi i'll get back to
you in a month" message.  i am posting for those that did not see the
original message.  so drop me a line if you want to get together some time
at the world to meet other listies very informally.  i will probably just
pick an artist and say meet after they are done performing at such and such
location.  once i have a good list of names i will email you all the
details and keep it off the list.  so tell me if you want to meet unless
you already have.  take care

greg

just a side gripe--i think it sucks that epic or borders or rcam or whoever
is making ig do a signing appearance at a bookstore at the same time that a
concert is going on supporting other lilith artists.  i mean folks going to
the signing will miss michelle malone and other early performers.  very
inconsiderate imo.  the signing should be earlier in the day not in the
middle of the concert which is an hour away.  now i have to choose and am
having a difficult time!  *vent mode off*

just saw this, thought i'd pass it along :)
it was in the august issue of out
(kd lang is the cover girl)
reprinted with out an ounce of permission.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
by now michelle malone is a veteran rocker,
but if you haven't heard this out atlanta belter,
'devil moon' is a good place to start. malone,
appearing on the second stage for this summer's
lilith fair tour, comes from the joplin school of
wailing souls; her voice has a rasp that melissa
ethridge and joan osborne share, but malone's
power ballads ("the edge") and bluesy rockers
("medicated magdaline") ar far grittier. her searing
rootsong "in the weeds" has vh1 crossover hit
stamped all over it. the spoken word on "speaking
of fueled" is a bit pretentious, but the conviction
in her voice makes up for the occasional lapse into
cliche'. there's a lot of seductive heat lurking under
this devil moon.
i just got back from the lilith fair in raleigh, nc.  everyone
enjoyed the music of the other performers, but mostly sat and
listened.  when ig came on, the whole atmosphere changed.
everyone stood up, cheered, rocked, sang, etc.
here's the set list(not sure of the exact order):
1. secure yourself
2. get out the map
3. shame on you
4. galileo
5. scooter boys
6. chicken man
7. least complicated
8. everything in its own time
9. (some good song?)(with sarah mclachlan/3-part harmony)
10. closer to fine(with every lf performer)
jessica, did i get that right?  do you know what song they
sang with sarah mclachlan?
also, jessica i am a ncsu alumnus; guess what year i graduated.
enjoy lf when it comes your way,
a freind from sultanate of oman is calling you.... and it is true .. but do
not get surprised.
first, excuse me for sending this message to you through the listserv as i
am new in the internet and i would like to have as many freinds w/w, but be
sure all the letters any one will send me will be answered in private.
as well, it is no matter for me if you are male /female, young or old,
student,working or retired, black or white as long we could be freinds what
are all we need.
dear freind,
my name is latif al bulushi, male , single ,and i come
from muscat the capital city of the  sultanate of oman, a beautiful country
with nice people, beaches, security, located in the arabian gulf next to
saudi, yemen and united arab emirates. with 1700 k.m of beaches, and
2.000.000 people, the head of the country is sultan, and his name is qaboos
bin said.well educated person and very nice for his country and his nation
my hobby is collecting used telephone cards. and in some countries they
call it (call cards or pre paid card) it is made of plastic the use it to
make calls instead of coins and when it get expire they throw it but i
collect them. and as it became difficult for me to get all the cards from
every
country , i thought to write to you in hope that you might help me in
getting some from your country even in duplicates with the same pictures.
you might be a collector your self, if so that will be great, then i can
send you some cards from my country too in exchange for the cards you will
send me and then you can start your collection, it is very intresting too.
but if you can not help me in that please pass my message to a family
member of yours or a freind who might be intrested or just he want to help
me in that.or to your e.pals w/w ( that will be a great help for me).
as well., please never hesitate to ask me any thing you want to know from
this part of the world, by the way have you ever visited oman, who knows
may be one day you will come here no matter for what, business,or holiday
and at least their will be a person you already know. and it will be my
pleasure to meet you face to face and we will have a meal and a drink
together.
thanking you in anticipation and wishing you all the best to you and your
family and hope to hear from you soon.
greeting listies,
if you haven't already done so, go buy mm's new cd!!! it is so so good! if
you've ever been curious about listening to more mm after hearing her guest
with the girls, then now is the time to check her out!  does anyone know if
the lyrics are up on the web yet?  i have to know if she really is singing
"space invaders and a little quasar?" (my green thumb)
i finally got a chance to watch the video that i acquired of ig on the
square in decatur in 1997 - they look so young, bless 'em!!!  great to see
blue food era stuff being performed.  couple of notable points - amy's
almost lighthearted version of romeo and juliet  (eyes open!!!) michelle
malone (on her birthday) looking dead scruffy and totally cool singing
backup into amy's mic.  dede vogt's killing time which i hadn't heard
before, plus happy birthday - twice!  great 80's haircuts!  funny to see
them playing to such a small audience with all these little kids dancing
across the stage... its 2hrs long and great quality (from local tv
broadcast) even after being converted...
question:  how do you know when your gf knows you too well?
answer:  when she buys you a 2nd vcr for your birthday to support your
booting habit, that's when!
yes, i'm a mature (!) 27 today *skip*, so,  as a birthday special, i'm going
to offer a limited number of pal dubs of this fine concert - trades or
blanks, whatever - let me know. think connie may be up for doing the same
with ntsc versions...
and finally, what if...
...amy and emily had been cast as xena and gabrielle....?
;)
good morning kind friends...
if you make your way over to
<http://www.lilithfair.com/news/jul30/recap.html> and click on the "indigo
girls" link on the left, you'll get to see a quick time video of the girls
singing secure yourself. heck, if you check it out for yourself you won't
have to rely on getting a fashion report from anybody else :)
for those who can't access the site, i'll repost some of the ig-related
comments. the site gave kind words for ig's performance last night saying:
"indigo girls rock! they had the crowd on its feet from start to finish.
they are by far the most exuberant, happy act to play the mainstage so far.
they played hits and favourites from their old and new albums."
duh, to that second sentence :)
the highlight of the press conference:
"at today's press conference, sarah mclachlan, indigo girls, abra moore, and
suzanna hoffs were were in attendance to answer questions.
the local charity was the women's shelter; sarah presented them with a check
for $16,800. perhaps the most humorous moment of any of the lilith fair
press conferences came about when someone mentioned that lilith fair had
been referred to as a "dyke tour." everyone on the panel laughed, and then
laughed even harder when press liaison jocylen said "speaking of dykes, the
indigo girls have to go away" (to sound check). in general, it was a decent
press conference. many of the same old questions were asked, but a few
interesting responses came out
of it..."
there are also a couple of nice shots of the girls (especially at the press
conference where amy looks fine behind her specks) at
<http://www.lilithfair.com/news/jul30/jul30_pg1.html>
i know the lilith site posts highlights each day of the tour, so as long as
the girls are appearing there's a good chance of finding stuff about ig at
the site. a good starting point is www.lilithfair.com/index3.html if you
hate frames as much as i do.
so what are you waiting for??? check it out...
interviewed for a producing job on the show (but he turned it down) told
me 2 months ago that it is like a combination of letterman and politically
incorrect.  there are guests, discussions, entertainment,
commentary....whether it is a morning show or a night show i have no clue.
hell, it may be abc's answer to oprah and rosie for all i know....
but to clear up any confusion, "the view" and "the view with barbara
hello kind friends;
now is the summer of my discontent.  on tuesday morning my bride, my
i'd hate to bother you with the details.  however, this unexpected turn
has left me with two tickets to the lillith fair in chicago.  i couldn't
like to buy the tickets, please email me privately.
they are in section 203, i believe.  they're good seats and i'll sell
them for cost ($79.00).
that's it,
subject:      nashville lf list gathering :-d
hey kind friends,
as you know, the nashville lilith fair is fast approaching (wednesday, aug. 6).
i'm having a pre-concert party/list gathering, starting around 1:00 and would like to
invite y'all to stop by if you're in town for the show!  e-mail me privately for direc-
tions.  the schedule that a friend pulled off the lf website lists acts on 2 stages,
and doesn't mention michelle malone, though she will be there.  the nashville
tennessean showcase section, however, lists three stages - main, second, and
acoustic, and says that mm will be playing on the acoustic stage.  no idea
what time mm will play, but last i heard, ig were scheduled to play around
9:00 p.m.  according to the local schedule (which slightly differs from the lf
website, which omits mm) the lineup is sarah, ig, jewel, emmylou harris, lisa
loeb all on the main stage, mary black and kelly willis on the second stage,
and michelle malone and beth orton on the acoustic stage.
hope to see you all at the pre-concert festivities and the concert!
peace,
joan :-d
is anyone else as continually surprised as i am that the two girls shift
to suit each other? they haven't just found the common point and stuck
with it, they each take each other into their own world, and the one
who's "out of place" (sorry can't find the right word) just settles in
and enriches the other's idea?
like, for example, amy on "love will come to you" - she is able to draw
in the power of that awesome voice and character, and contribute a
beautiful harmony to the quiet dignity of that beautiful song. and it's
not like she's like a caged wild thing either... it's not against her
will. it's versatility, supported by emily's purpose. and the other way
around.
anyone get my point? i'd like to hear what you all think...
september 12: daily grind, ventura ca
there are more shows in the works, so for the latest schedule, please check
out wendy's website, listed below.  her new album, "asleep in the swing," is
available at her shows.  we also have a limited quantity available for mail
order.  price is $17 ($15 for cd, $2 s/h).  check should be made to "machado
entertainment," and we can also handle credit card orders.  please e-mail us
if you want us to put one aside for you.
quick plug for a great fest -- bumbershoot.  there is no better bargain for
quality music.  plunk down a mere 8 or 9 bucks and you get all day and all
night of any act at the festival.  good desserts, too (but those are extra).
great tunes and great vibe.  as a friend says, it's "bumberlicious."
we welcome your feedback, questions, theories and musings.  see ya out there,
i got my free mary fortune express cd (the immortality box) from hidden
water records.  it rocks!  i would definitely have paid $16 for it, but
as it was free even better.  anyway, here's the igc.  in the thank you
section they list kristen hall and michelle malone (who sing backing
vocals on the album), eddie's attic, rdr, and the billings house. so if
you haven't yet signed up for the cd it is a www.hidwater.com, the
sponsors of lifeblood.
why i'm thinking of it, does anyone know the name of the hidden track on
band se soleil's redemption dream?  i'm guessing something like climb the
mountain, or all alone?  it's my favorite song on the album and it drives
me nuts that i have to hold down fast forward for like minute after
shadow on the wall before getting to it.  anyway, enough babbling outta
me (outta me onto you, see now i've even worked ani into my message).
i know the set list was posted by someone earlier, but he missed a song:
"the water is wide." i think my friend said that it was a joan baez song.
anyway, the girls were joined by sarah, and it was very pretty.
the concert was great! my mission in life now is to see a full-length
concert (and hopefully, see them play "ghost.") they looked really great,
really refreshed and rested. amy was wearing a white v-neck tshirt that
showed the tattoo (?) on her chest and some jeans. emily was wearing a
black tshirt, and dark blue or black jeans. they really rocked... both
jumped around, jammed on their guitars, it was great! i thought it was so
cool that they got some of the other lf performers to come out and sing
"closer to fine."
my friend and i managed to get a security guard to put a teddy bear on
stage, but they never saw it despite the fact that it was maybe five feet
away from emily. oh well :-(
my first experience seeing ig was heavenly. i'm waiting to hear about
their east coast tour, and their "lunchroom" tour. :-)
hehe... if you're spelling my name like that, it's no wonder
the survey right after that, karrie. :)
i'm already way behind in adding up the survey results, but
more done over the next couple of days.  if you haven't filled
out the survey yet and you want to, the url is:
now, some admin stuff:
1) redistribution lists: yesterday someone subscribed an email
redistribution list to this mailing list, obviously without
asking the redistribution list first.  this is why we got all
those "i didn't ask to be put on this list, please take me off!"
posts.  obviously, if you're in charge of an email redistribution
list, don't sign it up to this list without asking your list
members first.  okay.
2) list archives: i've had a few people email me asking me how
to get hold of the list archives, so i thought i'd post a short
tutorial on how to get them.
to get started, send a message to listserv@netspace.org with no
subject line and the following line in the body:
        index indigo-girls
the server will then return a list of available files.  the
list is archived by week, and the archives go right back to
when jude started this version of the list in may 1995.  a
typical file listing looks like this:
indigo-girls  log9505b        log own v      73    25 95/05/13 19:44:48
the only part you have to worry about is the second field (the
one beginning with "log").  this is the name of the archive
file.  in this case it indicates the file is from the second
week of may 1995.  just pick the file you want, and then to
get it from the list server, send a message to
listserv@netspace.org with no subject line and the following
line in the body:
        get indigo-girls <filename>
eg. to get the above file you would issue the command:
        get indigo-girls log9505b
and that's all you need to know!  be warned, though, that some
of the archive files are *huge* (especially the ones for the
couple of weeks right after sots came out).  so don't download
too many at once or you'll be swamped.
okey-doke, i think that's all.  just a reminder - postings for
the list should be sent to indigo-girls@netspace.org.  listserv
commands should be sent to listserv@netspace.org.  if you're
having trouble unsubscribing or setting your list options, you
can mail jude shabry and myself at
indigo-girls-request@netspace.org.
have fun everyone,
sherlyn
hey folks,
i couldn't pass this up.  a friend is working at a company
which is working on a cd-rom project called cyberswine.  now,
he tells me he had nothing to do with the project, but here's
the description:
"based upon the science fiction comic strip series of the same name,
cyberswine is also the name of our unlikely hero. the episodes
chronicle the adventures of this part-machine, part-pig member of the
cyber city police force. set in the year 2070, the
cybernetically-enhanced cyberswine (or, "mechanimal" as he is labeled)
and his female partner, lieutenant sara lee, have to battle not only
with "regular" evil-doers, but also clash with the network police and
their leader, as well as attempt to foil the evil plans of the vice
president of cyber city."
"sara lee"?!  she *is* the fashion police!  hehehehe....
subject:      parodies
        i don't know about anybody else on the list, but the two that
were posted over the last week or so unsolicited had me positively
rolling on the floor laughing, and really made my day, electronically
speaking, so i propose an all out parody contest.  the word contest
primarily being there for psychological incentive, as i can't really
think of any way we could fairly judge them or of anything we could
really use as prizes.  anybody interested?  if anyone has any ideas to
make it more exciting i'd love to hear them and as i'm bored to
distraction what with the apparently never ending summer break that's
still in progress offering no real time-consumers to keep me entertained
i'd volunteer to do anything necessary to make a real project out of it,
but i think just the prospect of all of us going over those liner notes
more furiously than usual and keeping them on the brain as a bit more of
a constant in the hopes of free-associating inspiration, and of receiving
parodies on the list on some sort of a regular basis for a while is
exciting enough.
        anybody game?
        (incidentally though i'm going away for the weekend so nobody had
better expect too much out of me, at least for the short term...)
                                laughingly yours,
i just got this cd in the mail, and i agree, it is very cool! the more i
listen to it, the more it grows on me. but my problem is, i can't stand
listening without being able to look at the lyrics (i've been spoiled by
all the artists i've been listening to for the past couple years, all
except for rem print their lyrics...), especially since some of them are
very hard to make out. i would love it if anyone had a copy or knew where
they were, of the lyrics for this cd... i don't suppose anyone will, but if
you do, or know where on the net they are, please e-mail me! thanks (o:
