hi everyone! i just wanted to let y'all know that the t-shirts are in and
they look fantastic! i got everyone's out (that has paid me so far) on
saturday morning. you can expect them between tuesday and friday, longer
for overseas. i shipped either priority mail or first class, so it
shouldn't take long!

thanks again for making this such a succes, and enjoy! if you haven't paid
me yet, or if you aren't sure if you have, feel free to email me with
questions. i'll ship your shirt as soon as i get your $$! :) also, if you
didn't order a shirt, and want one, i may have extras, so let me know!

love,
amy

ps - i got a free ig poster from borders on wed. and i showed it to my
mom, and she said, "wow, they sure aren't very feminine, are they?" i just
thought that was pretty funny, since it's an amazing picture of amy.
*sigh* of course, this is from the mom that looked at the rainbow on my
car and asked me if it had any significance... fun weekend at home as
usual. :)

subject:      kamikaze trivia bootleg awards!!--creative
mime-version: 1.0
content-type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"
content-transfer-encoding: 7bit

hello, what's left of the ig list.  (i used to get over 50 posts a day, now
i get, like 12.  come on, you lurkers!  speak your minds!)

so here are the "creative responses" to the question, why did kamikaze
pilots wear helmuts?  some have been edited for very similar content, i.e.
lots of people's answers paralleled the first one.  the selection of the
first was entirely arbitrary.

okay here goes....this is a guess  that is more creative than historically
accurate...(god knows iam historically challanged!) ....but it seems to me
if
your going to be hurling your self into whatever comes your way...you would
want...uh how do i say this...a restaint to keep your brains from
splattering
all over the place...was that delicate enough?  anyway thanks for the chance
to get the boot...lori

they wear the helmet's because then upon impact, their heads would be
intact enough to contemplate that very question for their few remaining
moments.....
or for more historical reasons: so they could contemplate their lasts
thoughts of the emperor.....
carol

they thought they were bright- creative

2) they're japanese, they wanted to look taller
3)  they were the empire of the sun and knew metallic helmets would absorb
more energy from their spirit of strength, the sun, than just hair.
4) they kept their saki stash safely under the helmet, so they could have a
drink before their mission.
(this one comes in a close second.)
5) the helmets kept out all the evil waves the yanks and others were trying
to send to their brains.
6)  last and most omportant, they were testing steel for their future
automobiles, they thought if the steel was touch enough for their missions
it would be good for making auto.  they actually thought they could sell
cars
worldwide, even in the united states someday, ha!
lynn

i asked my daughter why they wore helmuts, and she said
"i dunno - i guess so they won't get killed".  she has no idea what a
kamakazi pilot is.

the kamikaze pilots were so dedicated to their mission of inflicting death
that they had to make sure they didn't conk their precious noggins on the
wall of the airplane, black out, and senselessly waste their lives, instead
of
pointfully wasting their lives.  plus, helmets look kickass with jump suits.
(creative, by process of elimination)

they were trying to make a fasion statement? lol

and the winner is:

the real reason is that someone on the cook staff decided colanders would've
been way too sexy for these particular missions (plus pasta was a popular
item on base 4 out of 5 weekdays), so they had to go with the more
traditional look: brain buckets & beige.

so, ms. or mr. lurker "spin drift," give me a buzz, we'll chat.

hi guys -

sorry i don'twrite much, but i had to tell the list about this -----

i'm not sure if you've been told this yet, but there's a new radio series going out in the uk that might have some ig stuff in it (even if they're not specifically covered). it's called "girls and guitars", and for uk listers, it's going out at 10.30pm on bbc radio 2. it covers singers like shawn colvin and jewel, and it's already had some ig content  from the shawn colvin - they wre talked about, if not heard from - they were talked about by  shawn.

if the us listers, or anybody else , wants this booted, i'd be happy to do it after the series has finished - i'll give out some more info then as well.

bye y'all.....

hey everyone
i have an item that might be a great present for an ig fan (or yourself!).
it is a handbill from the indigo girls march 24 1997 michigan theater show
in ann arbor.  i think it is hand printed, with 4 colors (black, teal blue,
lighter teal blue and light green) and measures 8.5x4 inches and has a blue
and green 1920's woman with the words indigo girls and the show info.  it is
really beautiful.  you may have seen the same one on ebay.  i purchased this
there with a bigger version (poster) hand signed by the artist.  but alas, i
don't really need the handbill too with the poster, so i thought i'd sell it
here.
email me if interested in this chance to get a great  piece of artwork!

copyright 1998 the atlanta constitution the atlanta journal and constitution

november 27, 1998, friday, all editions

headline: just opened; 'meet' market offers gifts, gourmet

byline: robbyn footlick

what: watershed. where: 406 w. ponce de leon ave., decatur. the players:
the most famous --- and very visible --- owner is emily saliers, half of
the folk-rock duo the indigo girls. also leslie zweben, ross jones and
susan owens, who also owns the common pond in virginia-highland. the
concept: it's a restaurant and wine bar. a gourmet food shop. a flower,
candle and card shop. a "meet" market. it's all of the above.

located in the shell of a former service station, the 4,000-square-foot
watershed looks absolutely nothing like its predecessor except for the
converted garage doors, which are now glass and, in mild weather, raised to
reveal the store's tres chic interiors.

sage green adirondack chairs sit on the concrete patio in front. inside
there are exotic fresh and dried flowers, tables covered with gurgling
meditation fountains, bottles of fetzer chardonnay nestled among pyramids
of cranberry-and-lemon-scented soaps and pomegranate candles, and racks of
greeting cards --- all for sale, and that's before you hit the main room,
with the food, wine and bar.

customers mill about as if it's a private party, chuckling in pairs over
sarcastic birthday cards, sharing whiffs of soap. others stroll in as if
it's "cheers," heading straight for the wine bar, patting friends on the
back and waving hello to saliers, who is bustling about picking up dishes,
taking orders for food and drink and stopping to speak to her "guests."
they're mostly young couples, gay and straight; mostly childless (which is
good, because there's little here for children to eat and lots for them to
break); mostly fashionable.

in the back room, there's the wine bar and a wine selection that's both
extensive and somewhat confusing to navigate, with whites and reds
displayed side by side. small metal tables fill the rest of the large room.
the equally large front room includes the kitchen with its deli counter,
refrigerated cases with various cheeses, and more tables of foods and
gifts. the food: with former horseradish grill chef scott peacock in charge
of the kitchen right now (bacchanalia chef anne quatrano created the
original menu), and a devotion to organic ingredients, don't be surprised
to see a locally grown, fall vegetable salad --- and don't be surprised to
see it priced at $ 12 a pound.

other salads range from "old-fashioned" potato salad to french green lentil
with cumin and coriander, cucumbers with wilted leeks and tarragon and
chioggia beets in ginger sauce.

the fancy sandwiches include salmon, pickled scallions, capers and
horseradish and chicken salad with homemade white truffle mayonnaise, pine
nuts and sultana raisins --- served on breadgarden bread, which watershed
also sells. side orders of the prepared salads are $ 2.50.

there are two soups ($ 5 a bowl) --- one vegetarian --- and homemade
flatbreads whose ingredients change daily.

there's also a nice selection of imported cheeses and olives; desserts,
including peacock's killer chocolate cake; and tons of jars of foodstuffs
that usually serve as great host or hostess gifts. the service: friendly
but not hugely efficient, which offers ample time to browse and buy more.
prognosis: if it can convert the curious into devoted customers --- and
work on pricing and options for kids (organic peanut butter and jelly,
perhaps?) --- watershed should be around for a while. just the facts:
telephone: 404-378-4900. hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. tuesdays-thursdays; 11
a.m.-11 p.m. fridays and saturdays; noon-8 p.m. sundays. all major credit
cards accepted. salads, $ 5-12 a pound; sandwiches, $ 7-8; wines $ 6.99 and
up.

hey everyone,

i was wondering if anyone on the list had attended the clemson show
with amy, rose polenzani, beth wood and erin mckeown? i understand that
there were people taking photos there, and i'd like to know if anyone got
any shots of erin with the performers. if so, could you email me
privately. also, if anyone attended any of the voices on the verge shows
and has any photos or reviews they'd like to share, could you contact me
too?

thanks,

martine

buffy:  when this is over, i'm thinking pineapple pizza and
teen movie video fest. possibly something from the
                ringwald oeuvre.

hey all,
here's the scoop on another great show with marilyn of marilyn 5, trina
hamlin(recently played newport), leslie nuchow(slam fame), and nini of love
pie...
i had the pleasure of seeing this acoustic show(standing room only) the
other night and it was fabulous.  these girls are a real treat.

marilyn & friends acoustic songwriters circle at the living room (84 stanton
st., nyc) this friday 10pm...

and tues, dec. 8th marilyn 5 is at the luna lounge at 10pm (171 ludlow st.,
nyc)
(they rock!)

i have a very good quality boot of ani's 1998 show at the rave in
milwaukee. if anyone is interested in getting a copy, let me know. it would
be my preference to trade for indigo boots, but whatever.

who's still wondering that bandwidth means

p.s. for all who are interested, the sys mix tape is coming along
well... it's going to be a 90 minute tape and include several live bootleg
versions, but we're going to try and put as many of those on the same side
as possible so that the volume is as consistent as possible. if anybody
else has a really stellar live version and want to trade, i'm still
interested!

said. if you are in the area and have not heard her, check her out...she's
