ok, the results are in, with chiapas taking it by a landslide.
both youth pride and slam made a strong showing, so
we should look to one of those for emily's birthday.  tony
is right, time is tight.  now we have to decide which organization
to give money to.

1.  the atlanta chapter of ncdm -- just started, could use the
money to get things off the ground, and they'd send the remaining
money to the national chapter
pros:  amy will most likely be involved with this group when they
stop touring, and it would give them a great boost to get some things
accomplished & set up right away
cons:  they don't have charity status yet, so we wouldn't get receipts
for tax-freeness.  (not that it should matter to most of us who don't
take tax write-offs for houses, etc)

2.  the national ncdm chapter
pros:  donations can be tax write-offs, and since they have been going
for a couple years now, they probably have a better idea of how to use
donations and where the money would be best spent
cons:  it wouldn't be as personalized as money going to her home-town group

let's get a good discussion going on this.  what does everyone think?
i personally vote for the atlanta group!  of course we could each send to
the group we want, and someone (don't all look at me.. : ) could tally the
amount
for the certificate we give amy later.  that would make it quicker.

also let me know (thanks tony!) who wants to donate what, so i can get
a general idea of how much is going to this incredible cause!

love y'all!  thanks for all the support.
elizabeth

hey kind friends,

this is joan morrison and i'm e-mailing from work, where i now have web
access.  woo hoo! do not reply to this address, though. reply to my home
addy, which is 103161.3515@compuserve.com

anyway, i was doing some research on the pollstar site, and found more info
on the nashville river festival that so many of you have e-mailed me about.
some of the artists are just listed as appearing at riverfront park on
those dates (as opposed to "river festival"), so i assume they are included
in the lineup.  i know nothing about ticket info, but from what i am able
to gather, the river festival is meant to replace the now-defunct summer
lights festival.  much better lineup for this festival, imho!

here the lineup as of now:

friday, may 1:
steve earle

saturday, may 2:
2 skinnee j's
agents of good roots
meski martin and wood
ziggy marley and the melody makers
keb' mo
paula cole
bonnie raitt

sunday, may 3:
delbert mcclinton
garrison starr
indigo girls

that's all i know at this point.  if you have any questions, e-mail me
privately at my home e-mail addy.

peace,

joan :-d

[sherlyn's note: thanks, deb.  also, apparently lilith '98
is scheduled to open on june 19 in portland, or.  just fyi...]

hi y'all,

sarah m. played here in albuquerque, nm on friday the 13th.  she gave
an interview at the local radio station friday morning and was asked
about lilith '98.  she said that ig would play at lilith for at least
the first week, and maybe the first leg of the tour.
so all you on the west side will be sure to see the girls at lilith.

hoping lilith comes to nm,
cynthia
