unlike pop performers, the great folk singers win their renown
because they write great songs -- which is certainly the case
with pete seeger. more importantly, seeger wrote the kind of
songs that can be sung by anyone. this is proven throughout
this two-cd, 39-song collection, which features always-credible
and often-wonderful covers by the likes of bruce springsteen,
ani difranco, donovan, bruce cockburn, studs terkel, indigo
girls, judy collins, jackson browne, bonnie raitt, and peter,
paul & mary. better yet, seeger is alive and part of this
tribute in more than just spirit, appearing in an old recording
of the weavers' ''wimoweh'' and closing the set with the
appropriate ''and still i am searching.''

celebration of atlanta's music midtown festival. set for may 1, 2 and 3 in
the heart of midtown atlanta against a picturesque skyline, music midtown 1998

from around the country to share their appreciation of the arts and to
