hey everybody,

i was just checking out the daemon site and in addition to my excitement
at seeing the new cooper seay/viva la diva album finally released, there
are also some new notes from amy.  :)

notes from amy:

i am in a land of exotic birds, eucalyptus mists, bare skin, and long
distances...hello from australia.i have many thing to report from my
summertime coordinates.
in january the honor the earth board met up in minneapolis and went
through the grant making process to distribute the monies from the
last honor tour. we granted money to at least 19 indigenous
environmental groups ranging from canada to south america. all of
these groups are doing cutting edge environmental and community work.
some of the work includes-opposing nuclear waste dumps, securing toxic
waste cleanups, protecting buffalo, fighting devastating mining
practices, and encouraging chlorine free technology at paper mills. we
also funded groups that are fighting to keep the integrity of their
culture alive.these groups include-the national commission for
democracy in mexico(zapatistas) and tone tierre,a group helping to
pull the chicano community together and also doing a lot to support
native environmental issues. the honor the earth web site will have a
detailed listing of these groups. the honor cd has broken even and is
starting to pull in money to support the campaign. let me remind you
that this campaign serves us all. anybody interested in challenging
the power structure and ending the onslaught of corporate greed and
irresponsibility should check this group out.

february was definitely a working month in daemon world. terri binion
spent some time in nashville writing and investigating the music
scene.danielle howle and the tantrums played a string of dates with
the indigos and then jumped on the road with the kick ass country punk
outfit-whiskeytown. we participated in extravaganza-a music festival
in nashville usa. i am hoping to have some live tapes to broadcast
from the event. i wasn't there but i hear it went well.

as we head into march i am very excited about sxsw music festival in
austin. we have a showcase this year that will include-belloluna,
danielle howle and the tantrums, rockateens, and terri binion. we also
have a guest artist by the name of block.it is a very diverse line up
and it reflects the whole philosophy of the label. i always have a
rockin good time in austin ....

the new mongrels' second cd-big cup of empty will be out the third
week of march. once again musicians from l.a., atlanta, and seattle
joined together to record the songs of haynes brooke. the cd
is...hmmm..what should i say...very mongrel like-loose and
experimental, yet loyal to the craft of songwriting. we  won't be
touring behind this record, but to me, when i listen to the cd it
feels like the mongrels are in the room with me ...i don't know how we
would get all the dogs on the road anyway.

i just read an inspiring book called-the philosophy of punk by craig
o'hara(available through ak press in sanfrancisco). this book brings
the activism side of the punk movement out and helps to separate the
"chic" of punk from the real sentiment behind the scene.

thanks for your participation...as steve earle says,"here's to the
motherfuckin revolution" a ray

enjoy,

claudine
