>i am going to the michell malone concert in cincy and i what to boot
it.
>any tips for a boot virgin???

hey sara and all-
tips for ze boot virgins:
1.  stand still
2.  don't scream, there's a microphone under your chin.
3.  stand still.
4.  try to avoid screamy-type-people, they just disturb the whole feng
shui of the boot.
5. stand still.
6.  when sneaking the recorder into the venue, put it down your pants.
no way will they search you *there*.  or, if you are one of our
mammarily-blessed listees, the cleavage would work too.  can i throw in
some advice here on getting cameras into venues?--a. either have long
hair, or get a friend with long hair to go with you (here is where
knowing me may come in handy, as the waist-lenth brillo sprouting,
chia-pet-like, from my head works very well). b.  get a strap for yr
camera.  c. put it around yr neck, with the camera hanging down your
*back*.  d.  adjust the strap accordingly, until the camera is hanging
under your hair, or in the small of your back, or wherever you can get
it so that you don't look like igor, the friendly ig-loving hunchback.
e. make sure your hair and coat cover the camera.  all that should be
showing is the strap on the front of your neck. f. put a scarf on, or,
even better, wear a turtleneck in the first place.  and g. voila, your
sides and pockets get frisked, your backside does not, and you've got
yourself a camera in the venue.  but for the performer's sake, for your
sake, for god's sake, and certainly for the cow's sake (shel
silverstein, anyone?), don't use a flash.  it distracts and blinds the
performers and this is sooo uncool and disrespectful.  anyhow, where was
i?  oh.  booting.
7.  stand still.
8.  ideally, you want the recorder up as high and into the empty air as
possible.  this is not to say you ought to be holding it up,
weather-vane-like, above the crowd, where your friendly neighboorhood
security guard can confiscate it. if you hold it down at your side,
sometimes the recording sounds muffled.  i've seen some very suave
listees with recorders that have little bitty clip-on microphones, that,
once they're in the venue, they whip out and clip on the bill of their
baseball cap.  very nice.
9.  stand still.
10.  most of us just have plain old hand-held tape recorders.  karen
(listee) and i bought one at the walgreen's in cincinnati, when we went
shopping with suffragettes (entirely unintentionally, mind you.  it's
quite startling to round a corner and almost walk smack into the
smoothest, glowy-est, richest deepest slender brown woman on the
planet-- that would be gail ann dorsey-- and have nothing more to say
than, "uhm, scuse me.").  anyhow, the recorder cost all of maybe $20.
and then there are the boot goddesses among us who have minidisc
recorders, who just produce the nicest recordings (*ahem*9:30
club*ahem*).
11.  please stand still.
12.  invest in a very good quality tape.  maxell makes super-great tapes
that are made of cobalt.  you know how regular bias tapes are type i,
high bias are type ii?  the cobalt ones are type iv.  i think these are
hard to find, so just use the best quality tape you can find.
13.  stand still?  ya think?
14.  don't put the recorder on the floor, or on a ledge, or on any hard
surface; the music will make the surface vibrate and your boot will be
screwy.  thanks to mel who informed me of this during shonen knife's
set.
15.  you know how to stand.
16. i don't know whether it's best to stand at the front, right by the
speakers, or towards the back.  sometimes up front you get reverb, while
sometimes in back the recording just sounds so far away.  anyone else,
please jump in and offer input on this.
17.  stand, oh, maybe, still.
18.  ask lisa schreihart what happens when you sing along while you're
booting ;).

i am by no means an expert on this.  i think the almighty deb needs to
offer some advice here.
i think it would be a good idea for us to attempt to boot every show--
when the show dates are announced, get a heads up of who's going, and
then, of who's going, who can boot.

enough.
jill

cleavage can be a wonderful thing. so can bras. cleavage + bra = excellent
storage facility. my friend (who shall remain nameless as she is on this
list and might not appreciate my singling her out) was able to conceal
*both* a camera and recorder in her brassiere while i ever so delicately

guess not.

long, luscious locks also can be a microphone's  friend. as jill mentioned,
the higher up the mike, the better the sound -- if you don't want your
screams to be the highlight of the tape, that is.  those hair clips with
prongs (maybe they're called butterfly clips?) work quite well. feed the
microphone up the back of your hair and through the clip until it is
perched atop your head. curls are an added bonus as they can help conceal
your equipment. the second january 1998 paramount (seattle) show was taped
in this manner.

i thought some of y'all might like to know that the michelle malone and
drag the river cd "relentless," which has been out of print for some
time, is up for grabs on e-bay.   the high bid, as i write, is $10.50.
you can find it by going to http://ebay.com and searching under either
michelle malone or indigo girls.  lotsa cool stuff ig stuff for sale (2
pages worth)!
yahoo! auctions has some ig stuff too, but not nearly as much as e-bay.

such a huge deal?  probably not as much on this list -- but how can you
call him a "no-talent?"  there's always a contingent of people who won't
like the sound of a given person's voice...
but i for one like him -- at the risk of pissing bunches of people
off because of comparisons -- he's kinda got that sombre post-e-street
springsteen vibe, with a better range.  i dunno if he's got bruce's guitar
chops, but that's not the point.  i've always been very sensitive to blues
influences, and i like what he does with what he's got -- it doesn't sound
derivative or cheesy.

i take it by your referring to "that song" that you mean "lullabye".
fair game, i suppose, as far as radio station overplay goes -- but i'll be
damned the day i judge an artist based on one song.
music is a subjective thing.  you may not like him, but calling
somebody with a better vocal range than the boss a "no talent", based on
one song you heard on the radio is a bit harsh, dontchya think?
if he was trying to sing salman rushdie books in a falsetto, i'd call
him a dime-store imitation of bono.  (ah, i loooove u2...)
so, in your humble opinion, who among the current crop of people
getting significant radio airplay these days, has "talent"?  i'm very
interested...

speaking as somebody who saw shawn mullins in concert before he
was big (opening for our favorite duo at both yale and dickinson last
spring) and thought "hey, he's pretty good, too bad they never play him
on the radio," i would say that
        1) sm is better in concert
        2) he is like michelle malone in that he has a wide range of
talents which simply can't all be showcased in a single song. for example,
he has a sort of monologue-to-music piece whose name escapes me right now,
but it's about roadtripping in utah, and i literally laugh out loud every
time i hear it.
        3) maybe some of the people on this list were first caught by
the fact that sm has ig connections, but aren't we, as a group, inclined
to give somenbody less rather than more credit when they make it big and
get signed to a major label? not that i see a lot of celine dion bahing or
anything, but it strikes me that people here tend to side with the
unrecognized underdog, and by the time most of us had heard of him, sm was
(as you have pointed out) anything but unrecognized.
so basically this is a very verbose way of saying that if people
on this list say that they're into shawn mullins, it's probably because
they like him. i think that, by virtue of being ig fans if nothing else,
people on this list are not sheep. i may have bought a danielle howle cd
on the strength of association and the recommendations of other listees
(baaa) but when i gave it a try and found i didn't care for it, i stopped
listening to it.
if you dislike sm, that's cool - we may veer, but the reason we're
all subbed to this list is that we like indigo girls. that being said,
though, i think it's important to keep in mind that just because we all
like ig doesn't mean we don't have wildly varying opinions about other
things, or that there aren't a million other things that influence out
judgments - we all have lots of other things that we think about during
the day (i hope, anyway <g>) and i think it's important to respect that
fact.
        peace -

hkf's,
another amateur here, but i'd like to add some things.  one about where to
stand, never near right in front of the speakers - but look for the
soundboard that is hopefully in the center towards the back.  if it's too
far back, just stand centered with the stage, and a few yards in front of
the soundboard.  if the soundboard's on the side of the stage or something,
just try to be in the middle of everything!  easy, right?!
one note of reference, for dead/phish/widespread panic - where they have
real taper sections... they are always right behind the soundboard (in large
venues) or in medium-sized places the tapers are in the middle of the
seats - and about 10-20 rows back...  and often people like to be centered
fob - front of balcony, which gives them a great overall sound.  also for
these bands, the mic stands are about 10 to 15 feet up in the air!  and
there's always two mics to get stereo sound.   basically, they use equipment
worth anywhere from $200 to almost $10,000 for some - so we should try to
copy their methods into the super-sneaky-taping-industry...

so, keep mics as high up as possible, avoid screamers (and tell people
around you you're taping - even if you have to bribe 'em with a copy later),
stand still, stand in the center - near a soundboard (if nearby center),
thank the lord there's people out there like you, forget about your ego &
forget about your pride and so you won't have to compromise, drink 8 glasses
of water a day, don't run with scissors.

from the world of celtic music.....eileen ivers (fiddle)....seamus egan

jerry douglas (dobro) is a well-known master of the instrument (check out the

excellent instrumental cds accompanied by his late son merle.....

i agree with brian, i think shawn talk-sings and also he is very annoying.  it
seems like a lot of times people tend to like a band just if amy or emily
happens to be friends with that band or if they say they like the band.  it's
like if amy likes it baby, i like it!  weird.

okay, i love shawn.  i love "lullabye" before i even knew who did it. i
love his voice and his songwriting.  i listened to his album straight
through three times in a row the first time i got it.  i understand that
people like different things.

amy (and daemon) may make me aware of an artist, but that doesn't mean i'll
like them.  i don't like ulali or shonen knife or belloluna or dew.  i like
shawn and cooper(duh!) and michelle and big fish ensemble.  it's a matter
of personal taste, i think.

hey everyone,

just a few thoughts on the "i like it cause amy and emily like it" thread.

sljones1@facstaff.wisc.edu writes:
<< amy (and daemon) may make me aware of an artist, but that doesn't mean i'll

this is true for me also. it's hard to believe.. but i didn't listen, like or
care for any *indigo* related item. for me, it takes something from an artist
to hook my attention. when my friends would all say how cool amy and emily
were.. i'd just shake my head and change the subject. luckily a special friend
of mine kinda found a way to introduce me to the world of indigo.. that was a
great day.

amy loves "three finger cowboy" i really haven't found much to like about
them. i got a chance to see them open for ig's in washington.. i even had a
chance to talk to them after the show. while they were sweet, intelligent,
enthusiastic and thoughtful in person, their music lacks the emotional wallop
that draws me in. as a rule i'll keep my ears open.. but i doubt i'll ever buy
their cd.. or go to a show.

amy also loves ellen james society... (in many ways) i'm still evaluating
their work. some things are very interesting.. but i'm not sure if i'll ever
have a tape in the car..

emily likes "charles krug cabaret sauvignon.". i prefer the ravenswood
merlot.. lol

i truly find it hard to believe that many people will give their time, energy
and money to things that don't earn their respect. being a fan of something
takes a huge commitment.

shawn mullins.. well.. let's just say i don't own his cd....yet....

first, i appreciate parts of this guys' opinion.... i always am willing to
listen to the other side.  i guess the only thing that bugs me is that he
labeled shawn as a 'no talent'.  i simply must vehemently disagree.
you may not appreciate his artform, but you cannot deny his talent.
perhaps you just haven't experienced a wide enough sample of his work. (did
i mention he has 8 albums out?).  he's been honing his craft since he was a
child and more particularly over the last 9 years.  if you had the luxury
of hearing him in person as many times as i have.....just warming his voice
up or fooling around on his guitar, i think you would agree he has talent
flowing from his fingertips.  he has one of the best vocal ranges of any
performer i'm aware of(and u2 is one of my alltime favorites....i think
bono would agree shawn can sing him under the table)....and he plays both
piano and guitar quite well...and lyrically, well i get visions of so many
places i have yet to see when i listen to him...he makes me want to travel
and explore and meet the people he tells us about in his songs.  he makes
me question how i judge others and think about many of life's challenges.
....and let's not even mention what a great person he is.....
you know i really dislike 'metallica', for instance, but i respect the hell
out of their talent and accomplishments.  there is truly so much studio
created (garbage)talent and success in the music world today(i.e. third eye
blind...did anyone catch that guy trying to sing live on the american music
awards?????....i was embarrased for him!..and i think he sounds pretty good
on the album!) it's amazing what they can do with a voice in the
studio...they could even make me sound good!
shawn is just not in that mix of talentless crap that's out there.  i think
that's one reason he has such a buzz going....he's the real deal folks.
he's gonna be here a while.....don't buy the stuff if you don't like him,
turn off your stereo when he is on...but don't judge without giving him a
chance....and don't disrespect someone just b/c you don't dig them(and that
goes for a whole lot more than just the music world).
i'm done......waiting until i get see my friend perform live again.......

"i cannot believe how vicious some of you are.  ie: he sucks???  gods, i

so let me see if i understand this.  if i don't think he has a wonderful
distinctive voice, then i am vicious and need to grow up.  interesting...
but completely untrue.  i -can- be vicious if i want to, and that's not
even close.

i have stayed out of the discussion to this point because it's kinda dumb
- there will be pople i love others will hate and vice versa.  but to
throw those kinds of things out over a difference of opinion is kinda out
of line.

in my not so humble, in any case.

tim....sometimes i forget just how wonderful your taste in music is.  (i know
i owe you a tape....i haven't forgot...soon, i promise!!!)

bela fleck, ieleen ivers, jerry douglas!!!  all some of my all-time favorites.
you really know how to pick 'em.

mark o'connor, vassar clement, kenny baker, natalie macmaster, edgar meyer
(not the hot dog....that would be oscar).  yo-yo ma.  tony rice.  russ
barenberg.  byron berline.  these are all wonderful instrumentalists.  in case
you're interested.

mark o'connor, edgar meyer, and yo-yo ma have a great cd together.  its called
"appalachia waltz."  i may not have spelled that right.  but its a wonderful
cd of only instrumentals.  one of my favorites.
anything by mark o'connor is great.  "mark o'connor and the new nashville
cats" is another wonderful cd.  only two songs with lyrics.  "limerock" is a
phenominal track.
man...my heart really belongs to the gifted instrumentalists.  thats what
attracted me to the indigo girls.  emily just amazes me.  she stole my heart
with her amazing versatility...her virtuosity.  she is a music "god" to me.
:)
anyway....just had to add my 2 cents about the subject at hand.

i sort-of liked "the" song the first time i heard it.  but the next 10,000
times just got on my nerves as well.  granted, the guy has talent.  but i must
say, he talks as much as he sings, and his lyrics don't move me aside from
making me gag at the cheesy-ness of that song.
everyone is entitled to his/her opinion.  but its a relief to see that there
are others that dare to dislike his music.  especially the only song i've
*really* listened to...since its the only thing that the radio stations here
in kc seem to like aside from matchbox 20,  third eye blind, and brandy.
i commented on the song to a couple of friends in the car one day when it came
on... they nearly tied me by my ankles to the bumper for saying that i thought
the song was dumb.
i don't think that disliking something is a mark of immaturity.  its the mark
of different opinions from very different people.

and if you have short hair, you may want to turn the ball cap around so it
covers the cord!.  more importantly, if you have a clip-on mic, you want to
make damn sure that you go to the bathroom before the show and don't drink
too much during it, because you will totally trash a minute or more of the
show if you have to remove the mic or take it into the bathroom. :-)

>and then there are the boot goddesses among us who have minidisc

<chuckle>  it has paid for itself many times over!

>i am by no means an expert on this.  i think the almighty deb needs to
>offer some advice here.

i'm flattered, but you know, some of it isn't even under your control.  i'm
really lucky to have some venues with great sound in my area.  i'm frankly
amazed at how good the 9:30 club sounds because the sound there usually
sucks.  thank goodness ig usually play wolf trap in the summer.

as for what you can control... i have good equipment, and i've used it a
lot, enough to know that everything that can go wrong will indeed go wrong,
and to make those things as close to impossible as i can (taped buttons and
switches that i *really* don't want to push, that kind of thing).  booting
basically takes your enjoyment of the show way down... you can't move a
lot, but you may *have* to move eversoslowly if you're around noisy people,
you can't breath a word, you get really cranky about people around you who
do but you can't tell them to shut up (!), you have to fake applause...
it's a pain, and it takes lots of practice.  i highly recommend recording
shows you don't care much about at the same venue before you try to record
one that will be a heartbreaking loss if you screw up.

but as for where you should stand, the best place is generally right in
front of the soundboard.  and if you are at a place where you don't have a
choice of where to sit/stand, you might want to make friends with the
people around you before the show and have a person with you whisper or
gesture something to them if they get loud...

finally, i spend a lot of time mastering most of my boots on my pc... using
cooledit to boost levels, decrease bass, fade in and out, that kind of
thing, so that when there are problems with a venue or i have an oops
moment i can disguise it better. :-)

jill's other tips were all good, and far more amusing than mine. :-)

now, re: the 9:30 club boot:

i couldn't be more pleased to read (somewhat belatedly) all of the notes of
appreciation for the 9:30 club boot.  it's great to get a good bootleg of a
show, but even better to get feedback from people to let you know that your
efforts to capture it, master it, and share it were worthwhile.

i told you all when i treed that boot that i thought it would be a classic,
must-have boot, i'm glad many of you seem to agree.  it's definitely high
among my favorites, but i'm biased!  i hope that when inquiries are made to
the list those of you who enjoy it so much will share your copies in the
same spirit that i did.  i very rarely do individual trades because there
are few boots out there that i find listenable... and i am nearly always
busy mastering and tree'ing one show or another (for this list or others)
and don't have time to handle individual requests once a boot has been sent
off to branches.  so i'm counting on the proven generosity of this list to
take care of those requests... thanks in advance!

i have about 10 messages yet to read and perhaps this has already been
addressed, but i feel compelled to respond about this shawn thing right
away.  when i posted about shawn coming to chicago, i was inquiring
because i am interested in going and thought there might be someone on
the list with the same feelings in this big city.  i was not in any way
encourging people to comment on him, his voice, his music, whatever.  i
asked people to e-mail me about it, not the list.  i have been a fan of
shawn mullin's for a long time, introduced to him by my atlantan cousin
in 1994.  there is no reason to make nasty comments about his voice or
anything else.  let's get back to the indigo girls, and postive
feedback.

hey y'all, i'm just adding my two cents in here... i never even knew amy and
emily knew/ liked/ whatevered shawn mullins until it was brought up on the
list. actually with me i like what i like regardless of who knows them. i
think it's just a matter of opinion. personally i think shawn mullins is
great. i'm not about to run out and buy his cd (i think we all know it is
wicked played on the radio these days!) but i like him for his style. just
adding my measely two cents. c-y'all later!

>like if amy likes it baby, i like it!

ahem ahem might i just mention to you all that the whole rest of the
music-consuming-capitalist-universe (the shoppers) know *nothing* (or
next-to-nothing) about shawn's connection with the indigo girls.  i
think that kind of anal knowledge is something indigenous only to
atlantans and ig listees ;).  the average mr. j. q. public hears a song
on the radio, goes, "uh, hey, that's kinda cool," and buys the album, to
hear the rest of the artist's stuff.  period.  end of story.  no
"ohmigosh i heard amy ray likes this stuff so i'm gonna buy it."  no "i
wanna be a sheep, so i'll buy this."  no.  no no no.
and the majority of people buying the guy's album *aren't* us listees!
(surprising, i know, but there's other folks on the planet besides us on
here! :)). ergo, you can rightly conclude that shawn's finished product
is what's pushing his stuff out of stores, not amy ray's name.
also might i remind you cranky crankies that mr. mullins put out at
least one album (that's all we've got at my borders) prior to soul's
core.  he's been working at this for years and years.  this is not some
overnight success dealie here.  this is not some, "hey, if i throw
around the name amy ray, maybe people will buy my albums."  gimme a
break.  this is hard freaking work, this is sweat (ever seen the guy
perform?  he oughta market his whole shebang as a workout video.  better
than tae-bo, man) and, to quote rose polenzani, "blood and guts and
stuff."
you may not like his overall sound, and that's fine.  opinions.
but allow me to take the jean smith stance here:  even if you don't like
or agree with how they sound, anyone who throws themself into what they
do and has the guts and sheer determination to put themself on a stage
in front of *you*, total strangers, and spit their heart out thru a
microphone deserves your respect.  period.

aaand i make no apologies for taking amy ray up on her music
recommendations.  amyrayisapunkrocker. so nyaaaah.  (maybe if you
listened to her cd's you wouldn't be so pent-uppedly-bitter-- you'd get
a chance to thrash about a bit and release all that negative energy.
try the pixies.  try some come.  try some rage.  there, now doesn't that
feel better?)
if that's sheep-like, then just call me daisy.

please cheri don't hurt 'em,

i must say one last thing about shawn... it is kind of humourous that
this lullabye song is the one that has gotten him so much publicity
becuase it isn't really much like his earlier work.  on one of his many
albums, called eggshells(which i have a signed copy of, from way back in
the day(3 years ago) when he played itsy bitsy coffeehouses in st.
louis, and may i say he is one really swell guy) there is this song
called "this ones for the majors" and it's all about those evil record
companies that screw over artists by trying to change them to appeal to
the masses.  btw, if you like him live, check out his 2 live albums with
matthew kahler, they are so very good. tricia

....and you beautifully spotlight the exceptional situation shawn is
in.....his song was already becoming a success without the record company's
involvement....lullaby had taken off in atlanta and at least 2 other major
markets before the record companies came calling...as a result, shawn has a
majority of the power in his contract and over his career (extremely rare
for a so-called newcomer).......so the message in the above metioned song
does not apply to shawn.  he has not changed under the record company's
influence and he is not being screwed by his record company....he has
remained true to himself and his fans.  this is really a one in a million
situation in the music biz.  he has worked the system to the utmost.

content-type: text

i noticed this awhile ago (when i *had* to have a peter gabriel cd with
solisbury hill on it, don't ask. remember how amyt commented how she loves
the lush production of peter gabriel?

the sinead - gabriel link is pretty well known - she was blacklisted after
the sat. night live performance(which was brillant, altho a bit dramatic)
she went on tour as a backup singer with him for the us tour (no mike, not
the up tour of rem, remember it hasn't even been confirmed, stop being so
obsessed)

ah , *ahem.*
okay, she was a backup singer, so was the wonderful paula cole, sinead
overdosed on sleeping pills went into seclusion and has wrote two wonderful
cd's since (sinead lilith boots? ig w/ sinead boots? anyone?)

that is not the link i was getting to - guess who drummed on peter gabriel's
third album? jerry marotta (is he not a musical whore, i swear he is on like
soooooo many great albums in my collection.) so it sorta made sense
listening to early gabriel (which certainly are punkish, if only looking at
them in the spectrum of his entire works, not in the british punk scene,
where he really was not a player.)
i think jerry may have toured on gabriel's first tour of the us as well, tho
i may be wrong.

there - useless igc -it could be completely wrong..
(and the rem cd has stopped playing, so now i must go do something)

ah yes - speculation is tempting isn't it?  but maybe something that is best avoided on this list.  i suspect that the indigo's are even happier when we aren't discussing their personal lives!

an indigo moment:
alright ya'll, last week was exam week.  yes, i'm only a high school sophmore
in va so i have exams right now.  everyday, my friends and i meet out in our
school's courtyard before school.  i was excited this past wednesday, knowing
that i was part of an ongoing tradition: the "freaks" write quotes and stuff
on the courtyard wall before exams.  so, i walk up to crystal and she's got a
grin on her face.  she reaches into her pocket and pulls out a few pieces of
chalk.  i smile, take one, and we stand up on the bench and start writing.
what a moment, looking over at crystal (damn, i love her) while we both write
indigo quotes on a school wall.  ah, it's great!  some of my other friends
join in.  soon, the wall is full of quotes and sayings.  "the hardest to learn
was the least complicated" and "it's alright if you hate that way.  you hate
me cause i'm different.  you hate me cause i'm gay" are among them.  what a
great feeling it was to write those!  pretty soon a security guard comes over
complaining about how we do it every exam.  he told us we had to wash it off,
but we didn't mind much.  the next day we each brought a bike water bottle and
washed the wall by water pressure.  we did leave "the hardest to learn was the
least complicated".  and it will be there all year....

got the latest entertainment weekly in the mail today and read this icky
news... well, icky for non-europeans: (reprinted w/o permission and all
that good stuff)

"shed a tear for the ladies of lilith: sarah mclachlan will pull the
plug on her yearly femme-fest after this summer's tour, the third for
the hugely successful extravaganza (which grossed $34.4 million in
1998). mclachlan's lilith partner, promoter marty diamond, says the
singer always viewed the fair as 'a three-year mission.... we don't want
some fan in chicago saying, 'oh, god, not lilith again.'' diamond says
the final tour will feature 'some of the usual suspects and some
eclectic stretches.' but fear not: mclachlan and diamond are planning
lilith-type events in europe, so start saving plane fare."

i was hoping i could catch more than just one more... this sucks.
yes, it's commercial and expensive, but i like going to hang with chicks
and feel that energy.
i guess i should be thankful that they're giving us more cd's (i've been
enjoying my lilith cd tonight, coincidentally). when are those coming
out again???

nope. never were. and in general, we do our best to stay off the
topic of their personal lives, because if you think about it, it would be
kind of weird to have 800 strangers discussing your love life by email.

the lifeblood site (www.lifeblood.net) has lyrics to just about
every song they've sung up through shaming of the sun era, including
covers. you can find tuib there.

p.s. yes, it is a dylan song. but (imho) they sound a whole heck
of a lot better. :)
