the music of wendy bucklew has taken its first baby step into the world of
mp3. you can get a rare live track of "out of the city" by surfing to her
website at http://songs.com/wendy. we've submitted this track as part of
lilith fair's on-line talent search, so please cast your vote for wendy
when you download this song. the track was professionally recorded last
year in l.a. -- and you'll hear the groovin' sounds of dede vogt on bass
and jason mogi on drums. it's a kickin' track! pass it on...
we are currently working on summer and fall tour dates. but if you can't
wait, here are two upcoming southern california shows: may 27 at the
joint, 8771 pico blvd, los angeles, 310-275-2619 (with the irrepressible
janet robin) and may 28 at lorenzoni's on the ventura harbor.
that's it for now. peace out and thanks for supporting independent music.

hmmm...i seem to remember something about their "folk album"
that they said they were going to make after sots. anyone know
what's up with that?! (or did i dream it? ;) this one sure doesn't
sound like much of a "folk" album...but in any case, i know i'll love it.
i wonder what it's going to be called...?

hey kind friends,
i know this has been discussed before, but for any newbies out there, or any
other listees who would like to post their favorite lyrics, i'm asking: so,
what are your favorite ig lyrics, at the moment (or for eternity)?
i would start, but my ultimate favorites are in mystery, language or the
kiss, and ghost.
at the moment, my favorite lyrics are:
"mercenaries of the shrine, who are you to speak of love,
with haughty eyes and lying tongues, and hands that shed innocent
blood?"-strange fire.
8) diane - who is very excited that she is nearly executing "ghost" on the
guitar (gee-tarr). hey janene (joy davis), lend me some new songs to learn!
=)

i have tickets to see vonda shepard on june 18th! yay! even though
emily won't be with her to sing baby don't you break my heart slow (*sigh*)
maybe she'll sing it anyways (i love that song!).
about this ig on my phone thread... yeeps. this is a toughie. i think
i'd ask emily to sing "watershed" for me over the phone. why? because i get
shivers just hearing that song and i think it would be even better if i heard
emily sing it in person.

wow! my birthday! how impossibly cool is that?
one more thing--lorna hunt...y'all need to check her out. this

on-stage facial contortions) mixed with some sultry crooning, a
touch of
patty griffin and maybe a dollop of rosie p.

goofy, touching, raw, honest, darn good, oh-so-good. she has a
website

wooden

this psa has shamelessly been brought to you by moi...stealing

i sold my soul to the folk underground and all you get is this
lousy e-mail.

hi all,
if amy or emily rang me i think i would faint or at best stutter out
something ridiculous but i'd love to ask them if they'd play a list
concert for us all. it would be amazing to have everyone on the list get
together with the girls responsible for bringing us together.
last night i caught ally mcbeal and they played baby don't you break my
heart slow but emily wasn't in it. we're behind in ally so it must have
been a pre-duet recording but it sounded really nice.
hope you all have a good day!

i can get them for the same price they'll get wholesale from a broker.....

>>>>>>>
hkf's,
i must interject. according to the lilith website there are 46 days until
vancouver. and that's just the start of the tour. denver is not until the
end of august. brokers are always a last resort. please use the kind
resources known as our intimate strangers out there! there's 600-700 kind
friends on this list and many other great people on other lists. there are
extras out there - patience might even reward you with close seats.
don't reward the brokers by paying their high prices. i got 12th row to
1997 lilith from the very kind teri (here, lurker, lurker - merci
buttercups!) and there are many kind souls out there willing to help you
out. if you have to, get a reserved tix & a real easy lawn tix & pass out
the reserved tix to get you both up there (or something like that)... most
venues once you're in the reserve section you can find places to dance and
sing as long as you ask nicely to your neighbors... 8-)
so before you go to the brokers, or go to the shady guy on the corner with
18 tickets in his pocket (some possibly fake)... check the discussion
lists, check the newsgroups, and check the lots before the show for extras
from the fans. big summer venues = lots of extras from the fans. if i had
extras i would bring them here first or sell them to someone who will enjoy
the show!
<step down> off my soap box - but thanks for listening...
this has been a public service announcement.

hey all,
a close friend of mine is leaving for the peace corps in a couple of weeks.
we have a great circle of friends (about 10 of us)... we've known each other
since we were at least 12 years old and we are now 25 years old...
our dear friend will be leaving us for 2 1/2 years and we are compiling an
album w/ photos and quotes.
i was wondering if any of you could help me with finding more quotes,
lyrics, or poems pertaining to friendship or something that relates to her
new journey through life.
we want something that would make her laugh, cry, smile when she reads in
africa - away from her friends and family.
any help that you could give me would be appreciated.
thank in advance time and help!

hey y'all~
i'll start this by posting my fav. lyrics at the time. my obsession
over certain ig songs have a tendancy to change from time to time... as i'm
sure yours do too... (or not... maybe i'm just strange) but anyways... at the
moment my favorite lyrics are from "watershed"... "when you're learning to
face the path at your pace every choice is worth your while" and "every five
years or so i look back on my life adn i have a good laugh" and my amy
favorite lyrics are from the song "fugitive": "we got to learn to respect
what we don't understand" and "we are fortunate ones, fortunate ones i
swear".
and now for my indigo moments today... i am wearing a sots tee shirt
that i got at a concert last year and the dean of faculty at my school saw me
wearing it. she was just like, "hey, lyss, i didn't know you liked the indigo
girls!" and i replied with a "oh definitely! i wicked like them!" and well
that was just cool. we then talked about how she and i both like the older
stuff better but she was in a rush to get somewhere so it didn't last very
long. and later on today the librarian told me she loved my shirt and i asked
her if she liked ig and she said she did. it was awesome. and i included an
indigo quote/song lyric in a school project and my world lit. teacher loved
it! she also happens to be an indigo fan! it feels so wicked cool to be
surrounded by indigo girls lovers at my school! ;od big grins from alyssa
today!
bye!

ghost is my fave at the moment. the lyrics are so personal and haunting
dark and dangerous like a secret
that gets whispered in a hush
(don't tell a soul)
when i wake the things i dreamt about you
last night make me blush
the last 2 lines used to give me goosebumps whenever i heard them !!
just a quick note*
i finally heard an indigo girls song on the radio (closer to fine)
here in australia. i jumped up and ran around telling everyone. they're on
the radio! indigo girls are on the radio !
it made my day :)

if anyone is planning on being in the gulf coast area this weekend for memorial day (you should all come), you have to check out this link: http://www.gayborhood.com/pride3.htm. this is my girlfriend's brain child and we desperately want everyone to come and have a fabulous time.... in short, we have suzanne westenhoefer, lynn thomas, dorothy hirsch, and several other lesbian comics and musicians coming in for the weekend to perform and entertain. we also have georgia ragsdale, michelle balan, marga gomez and..... <drum roll> trisha todd who played the title role in "claire of the moon" will be signing her book "the drive", and very special guest robin tyler, who will be speaking about the y2k march on washington which is april 30, 2000......
tickets are available through ticketbastard and everyone (this means you) should come!!!! :o)
there will also be free 24-hour bus (this is a charter bus with a/c and a potty!!! lol) rides from the beach all over downtown to several hotspots, including the infamous emerald city, (where we will also have cybercity set up where people can exchange e-mail and website addresses so that you can keep in contact with all the wonderful people you've met over the holiday on the sugar-white beaches of pensacola.) what this bus system means for you is that you can drink and we will drive... all day and all night!!! (how's that for a bargain?!)
if anyone wants more information, feel free to email me or denise (whose email link is on the website). y'all come!!!!! :o)

hey all. i have a couple of technical questions.
i have a sony portable minidisc recorder. i've recorded
my first show with it. the quality is good but i'd like
to get rid of the audience noise & do some trades with it.
so do i record it onto the pc as wav files, use cooledit or something
to clean it up & burn it onto a cd? what do most of you minidisc
users out there do? i'm clueless & would love to get started with
this. thanks for any advice!

hi all,
i'm new to the list, just found it last night and i am so excited about
it! neways, my fav song is the wood song. i play basketball in high school
and our assistant coach played it one day before a game. i had had a really
hard week and after the song was over ran to the bathrooman burst into tears,
it just really touched me. that what my first ig experience and now i'm
hooked. it seems there is a lyric you can apply to any problem you face.
neways, glad to be here! :)

okay, this is a tough one. but i think my fav lyrics are.... (drum roll)
"someone's on the telephone desperate in his pain, someone's on the bathroom
floor doing her cocaine, someone's got his finger on the button in some room,
no one can convince me we aren't gluttons for our doom" ~prince of darkness
and
"im always closing my eyes, and wishing im fine even tho im not this time"
~love will come to you
im a very depressing person...
thats all

the did this a lot during their last tour. it appears on many excellent
boots. some of my favorites: san francisco warfield, 9:30 club and seattle.

duh! sorry about that. i've been busy this morning at work...
here's the scoop: tix for ig (and the rest of the august concerts) will
go on sale june 12 at 10 am either through the spac box office (you can
find that info on their website at www.spac.org --look under special
events) or ticketmaster. there's some pretty cool stuff going on the
rest of the month, (hello! bonnie raitt, jackson browne, bruce hornsby,
and shawn colvin all on the same bill?!?), so it may be a wee bit hard to
get through to the box office by phone to use a credit card.

hey y'all out there in internetland. could one of you wonderful, lovely,
fine, upstanding, generous, sweet, caring, understanding (please, somebody
take away my thesaurus!) people let me know when the tickets are going to go
on sale. as i said before, i've never seen our beloved girls live, and since
they're practically going to be in my backyard, if i'm not there i'll simply
die. now, you wouldn't want that on your conscience, would you? :)~~

hi y'all,
i've not been keeping up with my emails this week, so apologies if this is a
repeat, but i just read an intriguing message from the mary chapin carpenter
mailing list that said this:
"i was looking for party doll reviews and found on rolling stone's site that
the indigo girls have finished recording their latest album and hope for a
september 14 (my birthday!) release date. it's going to be a long summer -
michele"
let's hope this is true...might be the first time i'll look forward to
autumn!
