hiya people!  i'm a new lister, currently living in boston.  i've been here
for a few months but never posted.  ive been an ig fan since my mom first
bought a tape of theirs around 1989 and i've seen them live 3 or 4 times,
some of the best shows ive ever been to (red rocks in denver was the best!!).

i'm sure you all know about rose polenzani, a chicago artist whose first
daemon release came out yesterday.  she is really amazing, writes powerful
songs and has a gorgeous voice.  i've seen her a few times, most recently at
a wonderful house concert in indianapolis (with voices on the verge, 4 great
emerging women artists who tour together- the others are jess klein, erin
mckeown and beth amsel).  so i wanted to share some info about her tour dates
since she will be opening for ig soon.  support rose!!  she rocks!!!  she's
really sweet , too.  and you can write me for more info if you want.

thanks and love, amari  (aka jess)

rose polenzani's second cd, anybody was officially released on daemon
records (http://www.daemonrecords.com) on july 20th (see mail order info
below).  that means you can hound your local music stores for it, because
they should all be carrying it, don't you agree? the album is a compilation of
re-mastered tracks from my previous demos and dragersville (her first cd),
with a couple extra surprises (like amy and emily make an appearance on one
track).  the songs were selected by rose and amy.

check the new website as always, you can order "dragersville" the first album
for $12 by sending a check and a request to parhelion music, po box 970,
evanston, il 60204.

rose's new cd  "anybody" can be ordered through daemon records' website at
http://www.daemonrecords.com or by sending a check or money order for
$12/cd(+$3 for shipping; flat rate, not $3/disc) to daemon records, po box
1207, decatur ga 30031.

i would like to highly recommend rose's new cd "anybody".    i haven't
stopped listening to it since i got it last week.   amy & emily add harmonies
to one of her songs "or", and it's really beautiful (the song was beautiful
before.......but now - wow!!!!)

you can order it on the daemon website (http://www.daemonrecords.com), and if
you order anything from them this month, you'll get a free copy of the promo
cd single for phbalance's "soothing".

=)

interested in gathering at the shows on friday and saturday to meet and
greet?  i'm sure there are some listees who won't be able to make it to the
biscuit gathering.  i've never been to lakewood, so i'm not familiar with
landmarks there, but perhaps someone who is could suggest a possible meeting

okay, this is pretty last minute, but for those of you interested in meeting

and at the biscuit on saturday!

if i am mistaken that there will be an honor the earth booth, please let me

place.  i thought i had read a post from greta saying they would be there,
but i could have dreamed it. <g>

hey,
well i just have to tell you how sad i am that i'm not going to lilith.
i'm so mad...the girls aren't even playing in maryland.  and even if i could
find enough money to buy tickets i wouldn't be able to go cuz i have lacrosse
camp that night.  then all yesterday i was at hershey park and lilith is
gonna be there and so there were signs everywhere so i had to look at them
but i cant go.  well i think i'm gonna go lock myself in my room and write a
sad sad song.

if i may,  july 5th weeeee! my birthday, week before last i recived a belated
b-day gift (emily's pick from a show i attendeda year ago), last week i won
free tix to lilith (went yesterday- marvelous)...deborah vial! amazing check
her out!  okie dokie on to the main purpose of this waste of bandwidth (which
i apologize for hehe).... today i recived yet another belated b-day gift in
the mail......it my friends is amazing in it's own right....i recived an
autographed mia hamm jersey signed by 11 members of the 1999 us women's
world cup champs!!!!!  yes i too almost died right there on the spot!  mia
signed right on the #9! but wait there's more!!! yes my friends here is the
best part of it all....... there was a message on my machine!!!! mia and the
girls called to wish me a happy one!!!! i was out!!! i could have talked to
mia!!!!!  ok ok, this has to be the best birthday (month) of my life!! i have
to thank my dear dear dear dear friend ali (indigopo2) for getting the girls
to sign the jersey and call....thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

real quick about lilith....went to the show here in dallas, had the chance
to meet a lot of the artists...( sarah's hubby ashwin is such a sweetie might
i add)  they had to be some of the nicest artists i've ever met.  like i
mentioned before if you get a chance to pick up a cd or see deborah vial do
it!!! this was my first time hearing her amazing voice!! okie, it's been fun
kiddies i'm off to lurkdom once again. til next year..lol  have a wonderful
evening folks!

just wanted to let you all know that there is a fairly extensive (and cool)
article about contemporary folk music in this week's chicago reader--its 8
or 9 pages long, and quite an interesting read...there are a couple of
paragraphs about rose polenzani and erin mckeown, as well as quotes and
information about a good half dozen other artists--why they sing/write
songs/run labels for love and not money, etc...if anyone is interested, i
can pick up an extra copy and mail it to you in exchange for postage (its a
free newspaper) or some other agreeable trade.  write me off-the-list if
you're interested.  or you can check their website www.chireader.com

take care,

hi.

here's an excerpt from anna egge's latest mailing... dated july 7th:

"dusty forever" on r&d records- a tribute to the late dusty springfield,
which will benefit the ongoing battle against breast cancer-  the disc
will feature a ton of great female musicians including the indigo girls,
laura love, and anna egge.  ana recorded a rockin' track called
"breakfast in bed".

unfortunately, it still doesn't mention when the album is due out, but
anna played us a recording of her track "breakfast in bed" when she
performed here, and it sounded pretty cool.

on there doing "go" live from aug. of 98.  it has turned out to be a really
cool cd.  it has some rage against the machine, sarah, tori amos, neil young,

the ig are  indeed playing at the bumbershoot fesitval in seattle on sept.
3rd. you can buy festival tickets right now through the bumbershoot website,
and then they will go on sale generally in early aug. i believe. they way
the festival works, is you buy passes for a number of days you want to
attend (it is four days long total). you don't buy for specific dates, just
how many days: it is $10 for a one day pass, and a $2 handling charge if you
order through the bumbershoot website now, the prices go up and service
charges will vary according to the source of the tickets. once you have your
pass(es) you just go when you want. but the "big" shows, ie: ig, are
performed in a stadium, and though those shows are included in the price of
a pass, you have to have a wrist bracelet to get into the stadium. there is
no extra charge, but it is first come, first served until the bracelets are
gone. apparently, there are booths throughout the festival where you can get
the bracelets. now, i have never been to bumbershoot before, but when i
heard ig were going to be there i went over the website thoroughly and
gathered this info.(and bought my pass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) hope that helps.

and while we are on the subject of bumbershoot....any seattleites want to
take pity on me?! i live in portland, or and was going to roadtrip up for
the show with several friends, but when it was time to commit to buying the
tickets they all realized they had conflicts in scheduling and bowed out!
now, i have ordered my ticket, but hate the idea of attending alone. anyone
want to meet up with a fellow listee? also, any good advice on getting
accomodations relative to the location of the festival? i have never been to
seattle before, so i have no idea where it is in the city or what might be
near it! thanks in advance for any help with all this! also, anyone in
portland want to make a whirlwind roadtrip for the festival? ie: drive up
thursday evening to be there to line up early the morning of friday to be
sure to get a bracelet, and either come back that same night or early enough
sat. that i can be at work by 10am (maybe 11am)!!!? i can be reached at
laurajackson@mindspring.com .

peace y'all,  laura

awesome awesome. i went saturday night, ig was splendiferous, sarah was
incredible, sheryl crow was... interesting. :) ig sang with senead o'conor,
which was a big surprise... but the best was when they sang "love's recovery"
with sarah m.  what a beautiful, beautiful song. :)  i feel so lucky that i
could go.  despite rain, getting lost twice, and getting stuck in the parking
lot for 2 hours, it was one of the most memorable things i have ever done. ;)
i hope you guys have(had) a great time! i'd love to hear some stories you
have!!

take care,
katie :)

hi everyone,

i think i'll let someone else handle more details of the shows (which were
amazing!!!!), but here are the set lists for friday and saturday's lilith
shows.

they did play with their new band on both nights:   claire kinney - bass,
carol isaacs - keyboards/accoridan, caroline dale - cello, john reynolds -
drummer (and co-producer of the new cd).   sinead o'conner was there as well,
and she came out and played a song with them each night.

*friday, july 23rd*
shame on you
trouble  (new emily song - wow!!!!)
tried to be true
get out the map
sister
galileo
faye tucker
water is wide (with suzanne vega and sarah)
cold beer and remote control
go
turn back the pain (song with sinead o'connor (may be hers....... i'm not
familiar with her material, but she sang the lead)
closer to fine

*saturday, july 24th*
galileo
shame on you
trouble
compromise (w/me'shell ndegeocello playing bass) (new amy song - double
wow!!!!!!!)
take back the pain (again with sinead o'connor)
least complicated
gone again
cold beer and remote control
love's recovery (with sarah mclachlan)
go
closer to fine

as amazing as the show on friday was, the show on saturday was even a million
times better.    amy was so nervous on friday that she said she was going to
have a heart attack, but you certainly couldn't tell in the show.   there was
no evidence of any nerves.   just an amazing performance.   it's just that on
saturday, after a long day of heat, humidity, and rain, the crowd was even
more ready for them.   they were on their feet the whole set.    i heard that
there was a massive exit as soon as their set was over - that people sat in
the pouring rain just for their show.

someone else want to get into more specifics?
=)

i just got back from a few days in new york city,
and while i was tooling around the city in my rental car,
i heard the unmistakable banjo chords that open "get out the
map."

sure enough, station 95.5 was playing amy and emily!  it is a
great song to hear while your traveling and it was a nice surprise!

subject:      atlanta lilith igc long long long...
mime-version: 1.0

hey everyone - what a great weekend!  i'm back on monday at work, and i'm
feeling a little grainy.... anybody know what that's like?  anyhow - hiked
up to columbia, md from richmond on wed. - he was great - southern culture
on the skids opened - and they were awesome too - throwing fried chicken
into the audience - the keyboard dude was playing keys with a chicken
leg.... anyways.... brian was great - one of the few people i've seen being
cocky onstage that didn't piss me off.  cockiness suits him and i guess he's
earned it.  after the show, we drove 11 hours straight to atlanta, ariving
around 10am at six flags.  damn it was hot.  i've never been to atlanta and
i thought richmond was the most god-awful hot place in the world, but i have
now felt the heat and its name is atlanta.  six flags was cool, but lots of
rides were closed and we figured if they can't get it together in the middle
of the summer, when in the hell do they get it right??  i have to say, va
theme parks rule.  anyhow...  we were dead tired obviously after missing a
night's sleep and doing six flags, so we just crashed at the hotel until
lilith the next day.

when we got there, anna egge was playing the tba slot at the village stage.
she's very young - that was my first impression - not a virtuoso guitarist,
but good enough to back up her vocals which were very nice.  kind of
reminded me of a young e.s. - sorta breathy and deep.  the song i remember
most was one called "illegal" - which was all about being a good person but
because of being gay and a musician and stuff of which parents and society
don't approve, she's 'illegal'.  a really good song that obviously touched
all the listeners.

trish murphy rocked the second stage, but i can't comment on her performance
because i was doing the 'booth' thing then.  someone was giving out 'lilith
fair new music sampler' cds as they walked through the crowd - so if ya'll
go to lilith - be sure and ask around so you can get one.  it's blue.  it
has a live version of adia on it.  it also has collective soul and ben folds
five on it - which i don't quite get, but the songs are good - so go figure.

fleming and john were next on the village stage and i enjoyed them a lot.
john is a dark-haired guy who plays electric.  fleming is a red-head big
ponytailed chic with big sunglasses and a good sense of humor.  i'd never
heard them before but she said one of their songs is currently on its way to
being a hit - it's the most requested song in san francisco evidently.  the
song she was talking about is one about meeting an ex-boyfriend's new
girlfriend in a grocery store and she's really ugly and how upsetting that
is.  it was really funny.  they are very entertaining and interesting to
hear an electric guitar with no drums.  fleming has a great voice.  kind of
reminded us of edie brickell a little.

suzanne vega on the main stage was awesome as usual.  songs i remember her
doing are marlene on the wall, queen and the soldier, tom's diner, and luka.
she performs with only a bass player, and takes audience requests.  i really
need to get some of her newer stuff - i only have the first 2 albums, so i
wasn't familiar with a lot of what she played.  the pavilion was nowhere
near filled, but she was very well received by all who were there.

bif naked on the second stage was very energetic.  tattooed, pierced and
with really long jet black hair, she was interesting to look at as well as
to watch and hear.  she opened with a little ditty accompanied by her lead
player on acoustic, and then proceeded to rock out on the rest of the set.
she has a cool chic bass player.  they all jumped around like maniacs -
which was quite a feat in the oppressive sun.  they are very very talented
and you couldn't help but move to their sound, which unfortunately sounds so
much like no doubt that i don't think they'll ever be huge.  it's always a
shame when a band has a great sound but someone else just beats you to the
punch.  but who knows.  when stp came out i thought they sounded exactly
like pearl jam - but.... i digress...

mya on the mainstage was rockin - i was churnin the butter in my seat much
to the amusement of my gf.  hip hop dance music and all 'dat.  complete with
dancers - who were very very good - i'd have to say better than missy's
dancers last year.  she reminded me a little of mariah carey - emphasized
when she did a cover of "i'll be there".  the dancers brought up a bunch of
kids on the stage for the last song - and that was fun to watch.

the pretenders rocked!!  i love chrissie hynde anyways so seeing her again
for the 2nd time in as many years was a real treat.  she did night in my
veins, don't get me wrong, my city was gone, middle of the road, message of
love, chain gang, and a bunch of others - but they were the stand-outs to
me.  she stopped after one song and said, "well, if you think that rocked,
you're gonna love this - we have a special surprise for you tonight, let me
introduce, sinead o'connor!" - of course the crowd went nuts and sinead came
out and did a song with chrissie.  i wasn't familiar with it - but someone
else on the list could probably say what it is.  anyhow - chrissie went on
and on about how great sinead was.  oh - clothes - chrissie was wearing just
black jeans and a black tight t shirt.  sinead was decked out in her
priestess clothes, long sleeves, skirt to the floor, priest collar and cross
around her neck and yes, she still has her signature shaved head.  anyways -
it was a beautiful song.  back in the wings on the stage left side i saw
suzanne vega bouncing around to the pretenders, and then for the last couple
of songs, i thought i recognized amy, but wasn't sure - realized later i was
right - she has some little blonde highlights that were throwing me off -
well... and she was standing behind suzanne - but i recognized that
head-bob, and was smug to think i recognized her from so little - but,
well... maybe that's a bad thing (obsessed me....).

indigo girls were originally scheduled to close out the friday show, but
they flip-flopped and played second to last instead.  amy was in her powder
blue leather pants and striped shirt and uh, um... sue me, i can't remember
what emily had on.  amy has a new electric guitar, i think it's a les paul,
but i could be wrong on that - it might be that ibanez that looks like a les
paul - anyhow, it's black.  they opened with shame on you, and it rocked as
usual.  amy said something about being so nervous that she thought she was
going to have a heart attack, but they seemed to be right on.  said
something about it being a long time since they played live.  of course,
they mentioned how great to be in atlanta, and that they just finished their
record three days ago.  said they were going to play some new songs, and
they did.  the new emily song "trouble" was amazing - i didn't take notes,
but distinctly remember a line about "when a woman can call another her
wife" - so it'll be interesting to hear the finished product on that one.
tried to be true was next, and it was good.  followed by get out the map,
which had a lot of people up and dancing.  amy's "sister" was next, and it
was powerful as ever.  i think they introduced the band somewhere in the
middle - it was strange not seeing jerry and sara up there, but sinead's
band did pretty well - although i think the drummer lost his place in a
couple of spots.  galileo was next followed by faye tucker.  i love that
song - it's really powerful and i love amy's growling on "tuckerrrrrr".
next was water is wide (with suzanne vega and sarah) - it was beautiful as
usual, but suzanne just can't compare to jewel on that one.  and sarah
didn't do that little vocal ramble that she usually does on the last note,
and i think that was unexpected, because right where it usually comes, emily
turned to her and gave her a little look and sarah just sorta smiled back
with a little 'oh well' expression.  i was hoping to hear cold beer and
remote control, because i had heard ya'll talk so much about it, and i was
glad they played it.  it rocked.  go was next and it was my favorite - i
pogo-ed, i bounced, i went nuts, i raised my hands high, i 'go-go-go'ed', i
think i annoyed the people behind me.  that song is awesome awesome awesome
with the band, and i can't wait to hear it on the new record - i think that
will definitely be the single for airplay.  sinead came out next and sang
"turn back the pain" - i hadn't heard that one but i think it's sinead's.
closer to fine was last as usual, and everyone came out to sing.  chrissie
hynde was trying so hard to keep up but it was obvious she didn't know the
song - and sang the last verse making up the tune and rhythm as she went
along, which surprisingly worked okay.  emily went to the 'bible' chorus
early, you know, how they repeat the chorus twice, and then do the 'bible'
part? well, emily went to that early, and amy turned around and looked at
her like 'what the hell?' and they both sorta laughed and emily went back to
the 'mountains' part.  i've *never* seen either miss a line in *that* song.
it was kinda funny.  i have to mention this... when they all said thanks and
left the stage and all, my gf started cracking up, and i was like, "what?
what's so funny?" and she said she never noticed before but amy's wave
cracked her up.  because everyone else was doing the shake your hand in the
air back and forth kind of wave, but amy was doing the little girl 'bye-bye'
wave (ya know, middle 2 fingers up and down) and for some reason that
cracked my susan up - she's a trip, what can i say.

ya'll have to forgive me i don't have a lot of detail on the sarah part of
the show - my mind just shuts down after ig, and i can't think of anything
else.  she played the usual stuff you would expect, adia, sweet surrender,
ice cream.  had a sing-along on one of her songs, and emily took a verse.
there was one part when chrissie was singing and a&e were on either side of
her mike coming in on the doo-wa parts or whatever and that was cute to
watch them bobbing back and forth.  when they left the stage, chrissie
kissed amy on the cheek and i was like "oh man!!! she got to kiss her!!!"
which cracked susan up... sarah's final encore was angel - which for me was
a perfect way for the evening to end because it was our 6 month anniversary,
and that song was playing first time we kissed.  and since we met over the
ig bbs and it was our first ig show together, it couldn't have been a more
perfect night. (that's just my little personal interlude...)

so.....

saturday morning we went to the flying biscuit for the listmeet and i'd say
we had around 18 show up from the original rsvp list of 38, so that's not
too bad.  ryan blackhawke and her gf came all the way from seattle, and
chris and michelle from nh.  lia came all the way from chicago.  marilyn
came from washington dc with her 5 pomeranians and beagle. (who we had the
pleasure of meeting at a rest-stop just outside of durham, nc on the way
home!) mike cunningham rolled out of his atlanta bed and joined us... :)  i
enjoyed meeting everyone especially hearing joan m. telling about all her ig
experiences and how "they kicked my butt".  they were able to seat us all on
the patio and even though it was hot, it was nice to be able to be all
together.  mike won the prize for most shows seen with 14.  i think i'm up
to 12 or something.  we talked, we ate, we took pictures.  it was a good
time - oh - and here's something to be excited about - but don't bug her
yet, because she'll kill me... ryan's gf got a *great* bootleg of friday's
show, we got to hear some of it - it's really awesome quality, and will
rival some of the all-time great bootlegs like the 9:30 club one from last
year.  anyhow, she said she'd offer it when they got home and settled - so
be patient.

the rest of my trip if you're still reading and care - went to the coke
museum - it's cool there's like all these coke products from over the world,
and some of them are good (watermelon soda from china), and some are nasty
(beverly apertif from italy) but it was interesting and i got a hat. :)
checked out the "underground" and left for dinner at "watershed".

watershed was interesting.  it's very green in there - light green walls and
ceilings and floors.  'silver' metal chairs and black tables.  the entire
front is glass, so it's very cheery and bright in there, and there is a
glass wall between the front of the giftshop and the seating area.  you walk
into the giftshop area, and there are candles and soaps and stationery and
cards and such and the seating is off to the right.  in the back of the
seating area, there are a bunch of wines.  the food was good, but not great,
the sandwiches are a little greasy - that is - the bread is greasy, but
tasty.  susan had pasta and hers was good.  the desserts were scrumptious -
praline parfait and 'very good chocolate cake' are what we picked.  the
staff was quite artsy looking and the clientele was varied from gay to
yuppies to families, and though everyone was friendly, susan said she got
the feeling she didn't belong and i have to agree a little.  there's just
such an ultra-trendiness about the place that it's like it's a little
pretentious and something about it that makes you a little uncomfortable if
you're just a regular joe. (or joanna)

we called it a night and went back to the hotel and crashed - skipped
saturday's lilith out of sheer exhaustion.  hopefully, ryan got a good
bootleg of that show too, we'll have to see.  walked around little 5 points
sunday morning and then hit the road for home after grabbing a half-dozen
more flying biscuits to go.

it was a great time - and i can't wait to see my fellow listees again during
the next tour.  ya'll take it easy til then!

if you're still unsure of rules, or if you want to run a fundraising idea
through me, please feel free to get in touch.  remember, this drive was
created solely for the purpose of bringing y'all another month-long ig tour
in 2000.  as always, your comments, questions and concerns are very much
appreciated.  our energies are directed in returning as much goodwill to you
as you have freely bestowed on us.

again, the addy to send donations to is:

...a big shout out to all the atlanta folks who were so generous with us on
the 24th.  you made it the most productive (monotary and otherwise) lilith to
date, and ended our tabling stint with a bang.  thank you, thank you, thank
you.

hey, i just wanted to say how nice it was to meet up with the listees on
saturday.  in case you couldn't tell, i'm very shy....so i didn't say much
but i did have a great time!  man, i love atlanta.  i am not happy at all to
be back in cincinnati!

the shows were great, as usual.  i did like friday better because it wasn't
so crowded, and the people sitting around me were really cool.  they were
all standing up and dancing like i was, and the woman next to me let me use
her little fan so i wasn't even bothered by the heat.  saturday's show, on
the other hand, reminded me of why i need to go to just a plain ol' ig show.
every time i tried to stand up during their set i got ice thrown at me.
it kind of ruined a great performance for me.

i loved watching amy dancing around with everyone at the end of the night.
i thought it was cute how she kept moving around and switching microphones.
i love how she gets so into the music.  on saturday emily looked like she
was having a blast dancing next to bif naked.  bif, by the way, i totally
loved.  i had heard her on the radio on thursday, so on friday i was really
excited to see her.  she's so funny and she gives a great performance.  i
can't wait till her album comes out on august 3.

this was the first time i had heard a couple of those new songs.  trouble
and cold beer and a remote control are awesome.  go is too, but i think it
was more fun when i heard it at the sst show last year.  it looks like the
next album is going to be a great one.

shame on me (la la la) for suggesting this, but not being able to follow
through, but might i suggest a listmeet at some point? it might be
difficult what with bumbershoot going on all weekend and people possibly
wanting to see other stuff, but it's just a suggestion. i would do it
myself, but unfortunately, i have limited knowledge of seattle seeing as
how i'm sitting right here in montana until labor day. so...any

****  shreiking like a crazed fan!!!  ****

i met amy and emily at lilith in atlanta on friday!!!!!!!!!

yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :-)

it was so amazing--definitely a dream come true!  and definitely worth
the whirlwind trip from tulsa to see them and meet them.

this was my first lilith fair and while i knew it would be great--the
whole experience far exceeded my expectations.

a few random thoughts i will share for those who care to read this far:
*lol*

we got there wayyyyyy too early, especially for as hot as it was.  but,
if we had not, i would not have gotten to meet a & e.  we were
practically the only ones there at around noon, so i just wandered around
outside the ampitheater to where all the tour buses were and where the
musiciansand crew had to go to get to the backstage area.  somehow i just
*knew* if i stayed back there long enough i would meet amy and emily.  i
was just standing out there right by the security where people had to
flash their badge to go any further when i saw emily drive up by herself.
then amy drove up by herself about 30 minutes later.  i didnt have time
to say very much to either of them because they were on thier way inside
and i didnt want to bug them too much.  but i did have them both sign my
"complicated girls" cd cover and i got to shake emily's hand.  i dont
know if i can explain this how i mean it, but the thing that was so cool
about meeting them is that were exactly how i thought they would be.
emily was driving a black "cherokee" type car and it was all clean inside
and she was extremely friendly and signed her name with a little heart in
front of it.  then when amy drove up she was driving a smaller car and i
had to go around to her side of the car so i could see everything inside
and it was a mess!  she had to stop and look for her security badge and
she couldnt find it in her mess.  (unlike emily who had hers around her
neck right where it should be)  the main things i remember about amy is
that i was surprised by the blonde highlights in her hair, and she was
driving without her shoes on which i thought was so adorable.  she was
running late and seemed stressed, so i didnt say much to her... but she
was still extremely friendly and nice and gracious just like i expected.
(i had to fight back expressing my undying love for her....but i remained
somewhat under control!!!!!)

we got to hear them warming up while we were waiting for the gates to
open which was really cool, and it made sitting out baking in the heat
almost bearable.

i could ramble on and on about the whole show...but in the interest of
time i wont!  my main thoughts were:  i loved trish murphy and suzanne
vega.  mia was talented and put on good show--just not my cup of tea.
niether was bif naked.  (this could have been due to my pounding headache
when they both performed)  i had never seen the pretenders before and
chrissy hynde (sp?) blew my mind!  i thought she was incredibly sexy!
and i never appreaciated how talented she is until then.

ig were great --of course.  i was so glad i got to hear their new
stuff--although i have to admit it was a little disappointing not to know
and sing every word of every song.  when they walked out on the stage amy
said she was so nervous and she seemed nervous up there at first.  she
kept her eyes closed a lot of the time which i think just made her
performance all the more intense.  there was one shot of amy up on the
screen where sweat was pouring down her face and her eyes were closed and
she was so into herself and the music--it might have been during the
"sister" song???  that was soooo incredible.  i remember thinking right
then and there that this is what it is all about.  emily seemed like she
was having a blast--lots of smiles from her!  and it is funny when i read
on here where somebody mentioned she messed up on the words to
ctf--because i thought i was the one who messed up!!!  and i was like "i
never mess up the words to that song!!!"

sarah was incredible too.  she took my breath away and brought tears to
my eyes more than once.  and the finale with everyone up on the stage was
the perfect ending.

if you have read this far---  *  thanks yall  * for listening.  *grin*

jennifer

hkf's,
(looooooong - stretch & get comfy)

here's my report from the hotlanta lilith fair - day one...  let me see,
about 99 degrees out, 99 percent humidity & lots o' sun - they didn't have
enough frozen lemonades to cool me down, that's for sure...  here's the
setlist even though it's been posted already - just want to make a few notes
from the actual setlist.

7/23
shame on you
trouble
tried to be true
get out the map
sister
galileo
faye tucker
water is wide (with suzanne and sarah)
cold beer and remote control
go
turn back the pain (w/ sinead)
closer to fine

first off, the girls went on before sarah (they were supposed to be last)
from about 8:45 - 9:40pm (maybe a tad later).  when i saw this announcement
outside of the lilith tent, i was first a little mad that ig wasn't going to
close a show which is so rare for lilith fair's... (and the lights are
awesome at night)  but then we realized it might be because sarah was in new
york for a tribute to jfk jr., so you couldn't exactly be bitter about that.
(i think i'm right about this)

i agree with that observation on the drumming as well...  it wasn't that it
was bad - he is a great drummer, but it was just a different style for
certain songs.  when i was ready for a cymbal crash here *zzzzzing-pow!* and
i didn't hear it - i was like "didn't he listen to the cd?".  even though i
love my cymbals here and there, i realize that each drummer has their own
style and adds their own touches to a song.  just like a tribute album - the
artist employs their style, they don't exactly try to copy the artist to a
tee...  that would be silly.

ok back to the show...
so after a few beers and a double-frozen-margarita (hey, when you manage
your own taco bell, you can splurge sometimes... j/k) the heat didn't seem
to bother me that much.  overall it was great to see them live again in such
a lively & exciting environment.  they might not have played all of my
faves, but the new songs & guests more than made up for that.

one note about the setlist.  the original setlist goes from 'go' straight to
'closer'.  and then in the space below the setlist grid, there's the
following written notes: "after go: amy-mando vox, emily- an acoustic vox,
sinead- emilys guitar vox..."  and it has the rest of them w/ their
instruments for that song, carol-accordian, caroline-cello, claire-bass,
john-drums.  so that's where the sinead song came into play.  and it
definitely seemed to be a sinead song because a & e were watching her sing
intently - like they weren't too familiar the song.

highlights pour moi...  it was great to hear a brand new song - trouble -
for the first time.  "i'm in... trouble!!!" seemed to be the main repeating
chorus part...  it has kind of that fun, happy-sing-along quality like a
galileo or something... kind of like cold beer too - even though i think i
like cold beer a little better.  sister & faye tucker definitely blew my
mind (or kicked my butt as joan likes to say)...  a lot of people sat during
sister because it starts off slow and amy-esque...  but i kept hollerin'
away during this song - it just has so much energy - and was done even
better than the roxy 98 version of when i heard it for the first time...
that chorus just never gets old... "and so is your life!!!!"  and then faye
tucker, never heard it live and this just had so much energy as well -
almost a fun song for amy just cause the beat gets you moving a little bit
even though the topic isn't just peaches.  even though i didn't know faye
tucker too well, it was a great highlight of the girls set since i haven't
heard it before.

other great moments was the water is wide - no jewel, but still it's a great
song with "sarah plus other"... the other being suzanne vega this time.
can't really get sick of this beautiful song... except when i try to sing
along - then there's trouble! (sorry neighbors, i'm trying i swear!)

go was great as usual - and then closer to fine is always great to hear &
see with all those guests on stage...  i forget exactly who sang what - but
to hear other people sing some versus during closer just adds to it that
much more.

overall:
mya was a great treat to a mellow first main-stage set by suzanne vega...
mya & band & dancers really had some great songs that really was exciting to
watch.  and then the pretenders played a bunch of old favorites that kept
the energy level up really high during the hot hours that the sun was still
up.  saliers & ray kept the crowd going crazy while sarah capped off a great
night...  i can't remember the songs exactly - but sarah's set was awesome
to hear - and awesome to watch those amazing lights & two mirrorballs up
there.  she really has such a beautiful stage presence up there...
ahhhhh...

last notes - still plenty of biore, plenty of expensive drinks & food
(although the frozen margarita is still my fave), plenty of good vibes &
good smiles everywhere.  moral of today's story: atlanta doesn't have too
many cool coastal breezes - bring water!

8-)
happy monday night...
day two on it's way...
8-)

~~~~~~
i know your heart's in danger
and so is your life
you'd better learn to trust a stranger
and stop & camp for the night
see a sign up in the headlights
and a moon up above
light the embers of another
and the night won't seem so rough
sister
go ahead
come on now
~~~~~~

sadly, i was unable to attend any of the lilith's--never have been...and, i
really wanted to go this year.

however, work got in the way, as it usually does.

i just wanted to say a great big "thanks!" to everyone who is sending out
their experiences and thoughts on the show....

even though i would have much rather experienced it along with all the other
fans...i've really enjoyed hearing what everyone else thought of it...and, in
some small way, let's me in on the excitement.

thank you, thank you, thank you!

tis true, we got boots. only prob is, we're looking for a solution to bypass
the limitation on minidisk recorders where you can't record digital to
digital. anyone have any insight to this, if we can buy special equipment or
something, the boots will maintain that great sound breanna got. otherwise,
it'll be a little degraded going dig to analog. breanna taped almost all the
main stage and some of the other stages although i haven't listened to all
the disks yet. this week will be incredibly busy getting ready for womad so
it won't be til august that we'll have time to sit down and get the disks
ready for tree-ing (which tara offered to set up).

so on to our incredible experience in hotlanta. we arrived 5:30 am on
thursday and we had early checkin but i don't think they meant that early.
we drive around the city for 3 hours getting our bearings and then checked
in. ordered up room service (that is a budget-blower). we slept til around 3
and then went out to explore some more. breanna took me to this wonderful
seafood restaurant called indigo. she had the sesame catfish and i the
shrimp scampi. now, my dad owned a gourmet restaurant so i know good food
even though i didn't always appreciate it back then. this food was heavenly!
a gastronomic orgasm in every bite.

friday was unbearably hot. it's been over 4 years since i experienced
breathing so much water in my air (humidity) and i am definitely no longer
acclimatized. we drove around some more and then headed to lakewood. we got
there around 2:30 and expected many more people to be there by then but the
crowd was really thin. little note, never carry a camera in a pack in there.
try to put it on your person. breanna stuck her camea in her pocket and her
binocs in her camera case and they were none the wiser. minidisc recorder in
other pocket with all her blanks ready to be filled with great music and
mikes in her long hair.

i took my h/pc along to keep connected and got an email from greta g (our
honor the earth goddess) to meet at the village stage at 3. well, we were
there and she was there but alas, we didn't manage to find each other. so i
spent all my time betwee sets walking around trying to find someone else who
was looking for someone. ended up with a pretty decent case of heat
exhaustion even though i was drinking liquids as fast as i could. i'd be
damned if i was going to leave though. after awhile, i started feeling
better. tara gave such a good review of the performers that i don't have
much to add. we were located waaaay over on the left on the aisle no less
and all we could see was whoever was up front on the mike. even though we
were so far off-axis, i think the recordings are passible. oh, and the right
side where (i assume) all the sound guys were, (or guys fiddling with some
sort of concert equipment). alot of the performers would stand there and
listen to whomever was performing. i thought i saw emily there during
suzanne's performance and a check with the binocs showed it was indeed her.
a little later i saw amy there rockin out. she seemed to really enjoy mya
(very good but very loud and at the time, i was nursing a headache so i left
the auditorium at that point and got something else to drink).

you know, i think this festival is so unlike the other festivals because of
the utter respect and admiration the artists show for each other. there
appears to be very little ego involved. i don't think you'd find the same at
the boy fests. indeed, has anyone heard about the riots at woodstock?

chrissie & the pretenders were up next and what can i say? she's still got
it! then she brought out sinead and that just brought the house down. i got
those happy shivers you get when something really wonderful happens which is
odd, because while i like sinead's music enough, i never really followed
her. i don't know all the words to her songs but i do think she has an
incredible voice.

the indigo girls came out and we were lucky enough to hear alot of their new
stuff. i cannot wait to get my hands on the cd. amy has these cute
sunstreaks in her hair now and has quite the tan (don't forget your
sunscreen, amy!).

we stayed for the finale and then spent 90 minutes getting out of the
totally disorganized parking lot. breanna and i decided to try to hook up
with greta and kristen the next day since half the reason we flew down there
was to catch up with them (oh, and see where i arrived on this planet, since
i was born there....and also to meet up with other listees at the biscuit).

saturday comes and we actually crawl out of bed to make the listmeet at
flying biscuit. i tell you, we should plan listmeets all the time! it's so
great to see all the people we spend years talking to here. i loved the food
at the biscuit but it was just too hot for my stomach to handle food. 10 am
and already hot as hell. breanna had a great time chatting techspeak with
michelle and liz is a quiet little cutie! your dad seems so kewl!

we drove around afterwards and found piedmont hospital, where i arrived 35
years ago. we did a little shopping (my favorite pastime) and then headed
off to lakewood. now mind you, we didn't have tickets, assuming we would if
we could catch up with greta and kristen. anyway, there were alot more
people waiting to get in today and we just walked up to the gate and
explained to the gate god that we flew all the way down from seattle to help
the hte folks with their booth. he let us walk right in to look for them!
(thank you, kind gate god!) unbeknownst to us, we passed right by their
table. so we finally go clear over to the other side and ask the kind folks
at the lilith info booth where hte is and they tell us back with lifebeat
*sigh* so we go over there and sure 'nuff there they were! if any of you
stopped by the booth and donated money, you deserve a big thanks. greta and
kristen decided to wrap things up and i was just absolutely lilith'ed out
(believe it or not) so we decided to help them carry stuff to their car and
then take off. i got a much better understanding of hte and encourage anyone
who has time or money to donate it to this awesome, worthwhile organization.

well, i won't bore you with the rest of the trip since it was pretty
mundane, went to varsity to eat after lilith on friday, went to baker's cafe
on saturday. great cajun food. i really miss that cajun food. i guess its
time to check out the local cajun eateries here but i dunno...seems weird to
find good cajun food so far north of the mason-dixon line.

i just found out breanna found a workaround to the digital -- analog problem
so we'll work on making those cd's available sometime next month.

if any of y'all will be at womad or bumbershoot, make sure to stop by and
say hi!

several months ago i mentioned to clare that i saw a parallel between amy and
emily and xena and gabrielle. of course, clare thought that was oh-so silly.
but it is there, and i'm glad that i've been vindicated.
when i first started watching xena, in addition to all the "eye-candy"
of the show, i saw the wonderful metaphor for being a woman out in the
world... trying to make a difference, kicking butt whenever it needed to be
done.... taking on whoever was in the way, being the equal and then some, to
any man.  well, amy and emily, when they go on their trips to other
countries, are xena and gabrielle!  they do what needs to be done, raising
awareness and getting things organized to actually do something about
situations, and then they come back to us and tell us the stories, in their
songs...   here and now, only money can make the kinds of changes that xena
and gab would make by slaying bad guys.  a and e do it with funds and songs
and slash at people's hard hearts with their words instead of swords.

i believe scalping is illegal unless you grease the palms of the city hall
(ie, have a business license and pay your taxes). then you can charge
"handling fees" at 2-3x the face value of the ticket.

last week i had the privelege of watching the launch of the first space
mission ever commanded by a woman - air force colonel eileen collins.
amy's song "go" played in the background as the shuttle reached for the sun.
the music and the launch brought about an amazing moment of enlightenment -
that no one woman ever achieves anything by herself.  command of this mission
was achieved not by colonel collins, but by tens of thousands of nameless,
faceless, unsung women in several generations who dedicated their  lives to
making this bright shining moment possible.

many of those women were in the audience to watch the shuttle launch.  there
were air force women who earned the right to ferry aircraft during world war
ii, but were forbidden to fly in combat.  there were army  women paratroopers
who earned the right to jump out of aircraft that air force women were
forbidden to fly.  there were female members of the awacs crew which almost
became the first aircraft shot down in desert storm.  and there were women
aviators in all four services who now  fly combat aircraft.

and others were with us in spirit who paid the ultimate  price  to make this
mission possible.  amelia earhart was the most famous, but there were many,
many more.

it is no accident of history that women had to first win the right to serve
their country in combat before earning the right to  command what is arguably
the most prestigious aviation mission in the world.  equal rights after all,
imply an equal responsibility to serve.

colonel collins, i raise my hands high in a snappy salute.
may you touch the sun.
just go!

amy ray, i raise my hands high in a snappy salute to you too, for writing a
song that is a tribute to so many - and a call to so many more.

i was listening to my boot from melbourne concert hall, australia (2/22/98)
and i have a question about it.  what exactly happened during shame on you?
did emily come in early on the "road block tripping" part or what?  it was
weird, cause it sounded to me like that was when they were supposed to start
singing, but amy didn't join in and everyone started laughing.

also, audre, you were the one who sent me that sarah mclachlan tape last
year, right??  the one with lilith fair and the other live songs?  i somehow
lost the j-card for it and was wondering if you could e-mail me the setlist.

and, one last thing....my boot collection is in need of major improvement.
i have started to put a list of what i have up at

listed everything yet, but if anyone would like to trade, i would be
veryvery happy.

dear ms. hawk,
i am sending this letter on behalf of mr. leonard peltier, (#89637-132), an
american indian prisoner whom i believe you are aware of. as you may know,
mr. peltier has a severe health problem. he is suffering from complications

his jaw is now in worse condition than it has ever been. he cannot open his

through a narrow gap between his teeth and then mash it with his tongue in
order to swallow it. as i understand it, he is in a continuous state of
extreme pain.

hey--thanks to jude who let us know the girls were going to be on vh1!

the indigo girls are at #79--(gosh, darn it, i didn't videotape the show,
but vh1 will repeat it again and again i'm sure), and the video clip (which
is maybe four minutes long) begins with the familiar chords of "closer to
fine", shows amy and emily performing a little bit of "shame on you", and
ends with a snip of "galileo".  of all people, they had jewel make a comment
at the beginning of how their lyrics are good (but they didn't let her
finish the sentence). emmylou harris and another artist (i've got the
shortest short-term memory) also commented on miss ray and miss saliers.  i
loved seeing the footage they had--the ctf bit was from the video, but
besides that, everything was new to me that they showed.

i remember at the beginning the lady commenting said that they were the
female equivalent to simon and garfunkel and something about breaking out in
the late '80's.

diane :) - who is definitely looking forward to roadtripping in 10 days!
let's go, stanhope/newport/saratoga!

the tower records booth/tent at the remaining lilith fairs are giving away a
free daemon big bang sampler with the purchase of any daemon artist.  they
have the newest rose polenzani, danielle howle, and many others.

they are also once again selling cooper seay's latest 'fin de siecle", as
well as another local atlanta band definitely worth checking out.  the band
name is commonwealth, and originally they come from the northeast area.
they've relocated to atlanta, and have released their first cd "another
roadside attraction".  a few atlanta artists that add their skills to the cd
include cooper seay, stacy cargal (ex-viva la diva), rob gal (6x) and heather
gibbons.

anyway, i just wanted to let you know about the free big bang sampler............ a
deal definitely worth checking out!!!

well, i'm disgusted.  how there can be so many people i haven't even heard
of ranked ahead of our girls is beyond me.  i'm disappointed that more was
not said about what ig has meant to their fans and to other female
musicians.  not much about them being pioneers in folk rock, and nothing
about their politics whatsoever.  jewel said they wrote great lyrics,
emmylou said they liked getting other artists to sing along and that they
reminded other artists what being a musician was all about.  pat benatar
said that they were great, and i think she said something about that they
were 'all about the music' - which kills me because i think they're about so
much more, and why would they use a quote from her anyhow, because they're
not friends or anything are they?  i mean, i don't think they've even played
together or anything - am i wrong about this?  anyhow - it was about as
general and on the surface as you could get in a 4 minute wrap-up.

so as i'm fuming about the lame report on ig, my gf suggests that maybe ig
weren't willing to comment, or maybe they just couldn't dig up a lot of

hello to all in the land of indigo!

i was wondering if anyone had any good quality boots from the
suffragette sessions tour, preferably in the northeast, specifically
the burlington, vt show on 8/20/98.  i love making my own ig mix
tapes and want to get some live songs like nueva senorita, go,
soon to be nothing, faye tucker, and the rockin' power of two.
i'm sure the set lists changed over the weeks of the tour, but if anyone
has a really good copy of any of the shows that have these songs on it
i would be glad to do a trade and have over 120 ig boots.  thanks.

take care and peace!

mime-version: 1.0
content-type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

hkf's,

here's the second installment to - "mike's world"...  and i hope you enjoy
the 5 minute journey...  breathe in...  breathe out... and relaaaaxxxxxx...

let me see - saturday morning began where friday left off... hot sun beating
down on us...  but at least that didn't last throughout the lilith fair
hours - 3:30 - 11:30pm.  so we all started off the day with a list meet in
the sahara...  or was that the mohabi desert we had the list meet?  i can't
remember - but the staff at flying biscuit kept on dumping ice buckets on
us, so we barely noticed the heat that was engulfing us.  my first list meet
at the biscuit had only 4 people - so this one that had close to 20 and it
was certainly a blast.  i'm excited to go to even more shows to meet some of
the awesome people i have met so far...  thanks again goes to tara (honorary
list goddess) for organizing such an awesome pre-indigo-lilith-list
meet-event.  or whatever we want to call it...

so here's the setlist again (with a few of my notes...) [saturday - 7/24]
galileo
shame on you
trouble
compromise (w/ me'shell)
take back the pain (w/ sinead o'connor)
least complicated
gone again
cold beer and remote control
love's recovery (with sarah m.)
go
closer to fine

here's a few interesting things about the setlist:  after trouble, the
fourth song was supposed to be kid fears (are they cruel or what?), but it
was crossed off and replaced with a "? maybe compromise" and then below it
is written "sinead song".  so apparently sinead's song and especially
compromise were last minute things.  also, for gone again & cold beer, the
guest was penciled in as sheryl crow... so where was she?!  oh well, would
have been pretty amazing - kind of like her & clapton - except with amy &
emily... well, you know what i mean.

first, the day turned out to be overcast and started to cool down a little
bit.  it was still 99 percent humidity, but the break from the sun was so
needed.  and then it started to rain, rain, rain...  really coming down in
buckets and those poor lawn people were getting soaked - and then some of
them started to slide in the mud and became our version of the "mud people"
although they weren't going to start any bon-fires or riots... sorry
couldn't resist.  and the rain definitely cooled things off a little bit so
that was great for both the fans and the artists.  also in general, since
this was a saturday show - it seemed a lot more crowded that the friday -
and then also seemed to be a much more lively crowd which is great for
everybody.

highlights pour moi:
galileo started the show of great - never get sick of that one...  and then
shame on you - great 'roll down your windows song' so it was great to hear
as well.  trouble, i was ready for it this time - "i'm in... trouble!!!"
just a fun song to hear.  i haven't heard kid fears since that show in
greenville, sc - but it's great to hear sinead strut her stuff out there -
her voice is just so hauntingly beautiful.  compromise - i'm not even sure
if i heard it...  whether it was my memory or the margaritas or a combo of
both.. hmmmm... the mystery's of lilith...

the second half highlights was certainly love's recovery with sarah
singing...  such a beautiful song had a nice new wrinkle to it which made it
even better... "eating us away..."  cold beer is a great, fun song - which i
like even better than trouble.  but go (since i'm an amy person) was awesome
once again.  i didn't get my telepathically-requested neil young song, but
go has been kickin' my butt ever since i heard the fledgling version of it
on 1200 curfews...

i used my friday tix to get down to the lower section, in which i had to
wrestle the setlist from a fellow listee (don't worry, the stitches come out
in a few days - hehe - hi lia!) but sulli is just the greatest
tech/roadie-type/person who ever lived!  and she probably doesn't remember
me talking to her in eddie's, so this is just a public thanks!!!

so overall it was a great set by the girls - great energy from them and the
crowd, great to see guests on a few songs, and great to hear some new songs.
probably a better setlist on friday imho, but it's great to see my girls as
usual!!!!

lilith-lights:
mya was entertaining as usual - the music was good but the dancing &
everything else really made the performance for her.  sheryl crow was
amazing - weird to see her in short hair (prefer long) but her voice is
unmistakably sheryl and her songs are all great to hear.  no sweet child o'
mine, but a lot of great new ones, and old faves.  sarah sounded & looked
great as well - she has such a stage presence it's amazing.  sometimes her
songs can put you in a sleepy trance - but both days her stuff sounded
great...  even without any new material, she still has such an amazing voice
for anything she sings.
the closing song for both nights was "put a little love in your heart" or
whatever it's called.  such a fun, happy song to close the show (scrooged
anyone?)...  just as awesome to hear as big yellow taxi from 97, and much
better than the what's goin' on from last year.  the song sounded so great
with everybody singing, i wish they kept it going for 20 minutes each time!
great way to end a great weekend!!!  "and the world!!!  will be a better
place...!!!"

8-)
have fun if you're going to any lilith's!  i wish i could go to more!
happy hump day...

relax, honey.

ig may have an added presence in our lives, but, in the grand scheme of the
musical universe, they placed very well.

plus, i think that pat benatar's & emmylou harris' comments were wonderful;
ig create beautiful music, but much of their uniqueness to the broader
market is their stage presence (in addition to their harmonies).  plus, they
were in the same group as queen latifah and mahalia jackson.....amazing.

maybe the point of this whole mess is, like afi film lists, is to generate
interest.  whether someone (or group) is #55, #2 or #89 doesn't matter; the
fact that women of totally different backgrounds & of different genres
coming together in an artistic collective is the point.

let's enjoy!

ok, off my soapbox now.....melissa

never fear, if you've missed it or didn't tape it, there's plenty of
opportunity to do so yet this week (and probably then next month or two).
there are five installments of this countdown.  #1 was monday, and then it
was re-aired on tuesday before #2, and both will be shown again tonight
before #3, etc.  the newest installment always begins at 10pm, so the
others get pushed back an hour each day.  so, tonight #2 (the ig one) will
be on at 9pm, tomorrow at 8pm, and friday at 7pm.

hkf's,

i have been publicly summoned - so here's my little ol story...  i checked
my reviews of the two shows i saw at eddie's attic last year but i didn't
mention this incident for some reason...

anyway,
i believe it was the amy, rose, beth & danielle night, which is november
18th of last year.  we had decent seats (actually stools) and of course were
really close to all the artists up on the stage because eddie's is such an
small/intimate venue.  they don't even need a microphone up there - you
could probably hear them just as good without them...

anyway, so as in any concert - i never want to miss a single minute of the
performer, fearing that they might bust out with some killer and/or unknown
song that i would kick myself for days if i missed it. (ie., last night i
missed scarlet begonias by the jazz is dead - so i missed my fave song b/c i
was zoning out on the porch <--tangent-->)  so i'm always running to the
bathroom, and then running back, oblivious of the world around me sometimes
- kind of like being on a mission (from god) and having tunnel vision in
order to get to where you need to go.  anyway, i scamper towards the men's
room in eddie's and i head for the door.  not even realizing it right away,
but none other than amy ray comes out of the men's room (excuisme?) -
notices that i am heading into the men's room and kind of laughs/apologizes.
this exchange of course sounded like the peanuts teacher, waaa waaa wa wwaaa
waa, since i was temporarily paralyzed - kind of like a deer in headlights -
and was in a total state of shock!  i think she might have said something
like she saw other women using the restroom or maybe nobody was in the men's
room.

i just remember practically shaking and trying to go to the bathroom at the
same time - probably forgetting to start breathing again.  and i can't even
remember now, but there might have been another woman in the stall right
next to me - i have no idea - but after i calmed down a little bit i
realized i was in the same bathroom as amy ray was!!!!!!  i'm pretty sure
she didn't use the same urinal as me, but it's the same thing, right?!  ;-)

that's all folks, remember to look both ways before entering restrooms...

lilith was great...it was overcast which was good because it had been so
blazingly hot  and everybody was in the right frame of mind...except for the
old guy in the row behind me who took the tower balloon thingy and held on to
it and wouldn't give it back (he finally relented and did) and this girl with
a raspberry wheat beer shirt (you know who you are...sitting next to a girl
with a sand bar shirt on )who popped  tower balloons not once but twice! most
people weren't very happy about that...i wasn't because i just don't see what
the big deal was...

ah whatever...
