ok, here are my answers:

first album?
the self titled debut.  i bought it back in the late 1980's on cassette tape.

favorite road song?
"watershed" when i am driving by myself.  "power of 2" when i am with a friend who i can sing it with.

how many times have i seen them?
about 12.  i figure, hey, i'm in college, this will be the only time in my life when i can just take off to see the indigo girls.  hehe

song/album i most identify with right now?
that is hard.  maybe "watershed" because i am here studying in japan, and this is a major turning point of my life.  or, for the past two days, "it's alright" because i have been having problems with everything from banking to phone cards to travel arrangements.  but it's all good.  and the album i most identify with (for the title alone) is "rites of passage"

favorite indigo girl?
that is hard.  amy for her passion; emily for her poetry.  though i admit it, when ever i buy tickets to see the girls, i always try to buy on amy's side.

have i ever met them?
yeppers.  twice.  and a few times also after shows.  the first time i nearly fainted, but not anymore.  they're cool enough that their pressence does not make me nervous.

anyway, there ya go!

mata ne!
karen :-)

hey y'all ~
i was at the mall the other day, and popped into sam goody to see about
buying some headphones.  as any decent record store would, they have the big
list of artists releasing albums through october posted.  horror of all
horrors, they didn't have ig up there under september.  well, i almost had a
fit.  i mean, okay, i understand indigo girls aren't releasing top ten
singles, or making videos that get a lot of air time.  however, as sots
debuted at #7, and previous albums have gone platnum (right?), wouldn't it
make marketing sense to have ig up there?  someone explain to me the logic
behind this...

hello again ~
i've decided there is a conspiracy against me.  i realized that from 1997,
a&e have played or are now planning to play minimum 11 dates within a two
hour radius of my home, and i have only been able to attend 2 of 'em.
starting with the great woods pay-per-view deal, which was the night before
the sats... to their latest date in amherst, schedualed for when i will be
touring colleges in atlanta.  i swear, they get a copy of my schedual and
plan accordingly.

ok, i can play this game...

>1st ig album you heard/bought/what year:

my brother's ex girlfriend made me a cassette of indigo girls in 1990.
after hearing ctf for the first time i was hooked.

>favorite ig road song:

i have to go with chickenman for the sheer cheese factor.  it's just cool
when a keeps singing on the road to austin.  it creschendos (sp?) very well
which makes for great open window speeding fun.  of course love's recovery
is a good driving from a breakup talk song :)

>album or song you identify w/ the most:

watershed--when youyr learning to face the path at your pace every choice
is worth your while.  boy do i miss lyrics like this.  i toook quite a
while facing my little path--lotsa choices--all worthwhile.

i will never decide as i have gone in stages with each.

this is the only place i can say with pride that i've seen them 26 times.
have all the ticket stubs posted at the office.  they all think i'm an
obsessed freak.  but y'all can understand :).

>ever met them:

backstage at radio city music hall on the "fan tour".  took photos with me.
they signed cd's.  very cool.  i think that year was when they strated to
fear their fans.  people were very crazy back there.  also met emily once
in bloomington il with i-girl.  very sweet she was signing cd's.  met em
both again at a cd signing at border's books in chicago.  once again, they
were very sweet.  all three times i tried to act cool and "not take up much
of their time but could they please never break up".  i felt foolish.  it's
best that i never get the opportunity to tell them who much i love them.
they'd be nervous :)

that was fun.  see y'all

1st ig album you heard/bought/what year:

nis, circa 1992, i was in college, randomly check out cds from the public
library to expand my music horizon. stunned by the wonderful harmonies, but
still too broke to buy any cds, i copied the cd to tape and listened to them
over and over again.

> favorite ig road song:
get out the map, for the beginning of a vacation trip. for night driving, i
love the wood song, everything in its own time, aka more emily stuff.

how many times have i seen them in concert
twice only, the suffragate sessions, when i was right under amy's feet
(sign!) and the most recent lilith, when i'm about ten thousand feet away.

> ever met them:

no. sometimes i really wish i could meet them, to tell them how much i
appreciate their music, but i guess i've already got a great gift from them -
their music.

favorite-amy or emily
it's pretty even. i like them for different things, so it's hard to compare.
i love emily's gentleness, her observations, and her amazing ability to know
exactly how i feel in some situations. i love amy's toughness, her
assertiveness, not to mention her good looks!! (am i the only straight girl
here that find amy very sexy?)

what song do i identify most
among many, i'd have to pick hey jesus. musically, it's not emily's best. but
i cried and cried the first time i heard it, and i still can in certain
moments. i'm so unsteady in my faith in god.

peace y'all

of course very worth it (ranks right up there with meeting

*shout-out to jen and neil--nice meeting you in the philly ticketline!*
thanks for changing my quarters, neil. :) -d.

1st ig album you heard/bought/what year:

swamp ophelia-my brother mark bought it in december 1997 after he heard
"power of two" on a friend's tape mixed by an ex-girlfriend.  mark
subsequently played the song off the tape for me one day that december, and
frankly, my life has never been the same since.

the first album i bought was 1200 curfews on cassette tape in february of
1998.

favorite ig road song:

you and me of the 10,000 wars (the family component is something that
resonates with me).  watershed is a close second.

album or song you identify w/ the most:

swamp ophelia/mystery.  it changes constantly, depending on my mood though.

favorite ig:

emily--i love that radiant smile, the hope and optimism in her lyrics, and
her awesome guitar playing.  how we all love and adore their chemistry with
each other musically--and i like observing or listening to them as they talk
about each other--their mutual admiration, and the way they crack each other
up at times. (see watershed video.)

how many time have you seen them in concert:

6 + 2 concerts on the way in october!  for you pros, does it ever seem like
they are becoming family, just because you see them so very often on stage?

ever met them:

it still amazes me how they have catered to us and how accessible they are
to their fans.  i met emily saliers after chicago suffragette session#1,
august 25, 1998.  she signed the cover of the sots album and smiled when i
'fanatically' said: "your music saved my life."

              aerin tedesco <sabedecoy@aol.com>,
              kathy moriarty <kamoriarty@aol.com>

hey, kind friends.....

imagine spending an entire evening playing the music we all love in the
company of some of the warmest, most caring people on the planet (don't all
ig fans fit that description?), and then coming home to find an email note
from janis ian in your inbox......my feet won't touch the ground for at
least a week.....

the night started out on a great note, with aerin tedesco and joelle labert
combining their voices on three hits and cedar tree......somewhat ably
accompanied by yours truly on electric guitar......i'm hardly ever nervous
before a gig, but tonight i was literally shaking in my black work
boots......sad to say, i hacked up parts of the solos in both songs,
although i recovered quickly in both cases......sound check had gone
beautifully......it figures.....

katie miller told a wonderful story about how she had wooed her first g/f
with the next song before launching into an impassioned reading of blood and
fire (which she had just re-learned with aerin's assistance an hour before
showtime).....aerin then joined katie for a romp through galileo that rocked
the house.....

mike maffei and kim kerns, a popular local duo, followed with an impressive
three song set......kim's voice sounded eerily like emily's as she
reverently caressed the lyrics of southland in the springtime and hey jesus,
which opened and closed the set, respectively......mike provided the strong
lead vocal on welcome me, the second song in the set.....the harmonies were
gorgeous....

aerin introduced michael schenkel with the observation that literally
everyone on the show had wanted to play closer to fine, but that she had
wanted to save it for the finale......but she had made an exception for
michael, who proceeded to sing ctf entirely in german......

jen guillow then joined aerin for a moving rendition of center stage.....i
returned to the stage to accompany them on lead guitar on thin line and
strange fire.....fortunately, my nerves had settled a bit by that time.....

what happened next was magic.....paddy kilrain and jolie christine rickman
both had last minute conflicts, and were unable to attend.....i mentioned to
aerin that i knew several tunes that the girls had covered and that perhaps
we could create the same kind of spontaneous event that amy and emily are
noted for......she concurred.....

i've played all along the watchtower for years, but about two years ago i
devised a very unique arrangement.....i opened with it primarily to settle
my nerves.....a favorable reaction from the crowd was all it took to put me
in my comfort zone.....

get together was one of those songs i always knew, but never really learned
until a few years ago.....i actually learned it from the version on strange
fire, but i made a slight alteration to one of the chords which better fits
my style (for the musically inclined, i have a passion for minor 7th and
minor 6th chords).....i always amaze myself when i sing that song, for the
voice that comes out seems to come from a different part of me.......it's an
odd, but wonderful sensation......as i reached the second chorus, aerin and
katie emerged form behind the curtains at stage left and began to add some
heavenly three-part harmonies.....i thought to myself, 'nothing can get
better than this"......little did i know.......

i actually learned wild horses from the flying burrito brothers version, a
year or so before the stones recorded it.....it's one of those songs that i
will always sing; a song that really allows me to get inside the
lyrics.....and tonight i was in my zone.....

midway through the second verse, the curtains parted once again, and kim
kerns and mike maffei joined me onstage.....i had been acquainted wth them
for some time, but we had never performed together until that point.....the
vocal harmonies on the remaining choruses were breathtaking.....i left the
stage feeling like a kid who'd been given the most wonderful present of
all.....

during the intermission i had an opportunity to meet and chat with
nyka95.....it's always so great to meet another listee and put a face and a
voice to the screen name.....thanks, mary......

doty hall and rosaleen marion opened the second set(rose on guitar and doty
on electric bass) with don't give that girl a gun, which provoked the best
reaction of the night from the sro crowd, followed by a rocking rendition of
'go'.....

aerin and kim combined to sound eerily like a+e on reunion and wood
song......aerin deserves so much credit for putting this night
together.....the proceeds from the $3.00 cover charge and the 50-50 raffle
are being donated to hospice usa......the feeling of mutual respect,
admiration, and community among the musicians is a commodity that is
priceless.....

kathy moriarty joined aerin for a gorgeous rendition of love will come to
you.....kathy is a consummate musician and one of the few people i know who
can fathom emily's guitar style.....

at aerin's request, kathy played one of her original songs, jerusalem (a
personal favorite which would not be out of place on an ig recording), with
katie miller providing the harmony.....

katie followed with her rendition of hand me downs (with aerin on harmony? i
may have neglected to write it down), and a preview of grass angels from her
soon-to-be-released cd, the strongest girl in the world.....

aerin related how emily's sentiments in 'it's alright' (hate me cuz i'm
different, hate me cuz i'm gay) had struck in her a rare negative chord,
prompting her to write her own 'fighting song', with a couple of brief
quotes from galileo.....i understand emily's message, but i'm on aerin's
side on this one.....not only is it not alright, it's damn
stupid......(hate, that is).......mike schenkel accompanied her on
guitar.......

the finale (almost).....what else????  everyone (save joelle, who had to
leave in order to make another gig) combined for a reverent ctf.....what a
wonderful group of musicians and human beings!!!

but unlike ig shows, it wasn't over.....katie miller returned to the stage
to perform 'libby's song', written for a friend who is battling
cancer.....the song has a guitar hook as beautiful and memorable as emily's
intro to love's recovery, and heartfelt lyrics that touch so deep.....

my friend leah prentiss (lea) and katie joined me to provide harmonies on
wish i didn't love you so much, one of my favorite original songs.....

kim kerns joined katie to sing harmony on another of katie's beautiful
songs, september leaves (a personal favorite, but then again, they all
are).....katie invited me to play some lead guitar, and i eagerly
accepted.....this time i got it right.....i left the stage feeling as though
i'd won the lottery and given 90 percent to a worthwhile charity.......

the night ended with katie joining kim and mike on one of their original
songs called 'ask me'.....(offstage conversation....tim: what was the name
of that song?  kim: ask me  tim: what was the name of that song?  kim:
(perplexed) ask me  tim: (idiotic grin) what was the name of that song?  kim
smiles as visions of the comic exchange between jerome benton and morris day
in purple rain pass before my eyes.....

the night ended with a lot of hugs and good wishes between friends, and the
satisfaction that comes from making a dream come true.....we're all grateful
to aerin for her hard work in organizing the show and to sheryl cooper and
april of compton's for graciously hosting the event on a busy saturday
night.....in october, sheryl will celebrate 19 years as owner of compton's
after dark, no small achievement in a city whose former mayor, a thug named
jimmy griffin,
publicly referred to gays as 'fruits'.....thankfully, the current
administration is far more enlightened.....

and 1200 thanks to amy and emily for being a source of musical, social, and
political inspiration.....

the next big gig is only a week away.....more later......

peace, love, and harmony.....
tim

whoops - thanks to danielle for correcting me about the xena thing -
apparently xena is on video in the usa. ah well, i think british video
companies are beginning to catch up : they're starting up buffy videos
this september - not by episode though. theyre bringing out "welcome to
the hellmouth", and then they're jumping straight to the "surprise /
innocence" two parter. i guess these people can't get enough of angel -
not that i blame them. but xander - oh he's mine.... :)

kindred spirits.....

self-produced cd, soul ryder is a gem.....i added guitar and harp, a huge
personal thrill.....her music gets more intense with each new song.....

dominic mangone.....an intense singer-songwriter....great voice, great
lyrics.....his debut cd is currently nearing the final stages of
production......

singer-songwriters (aren't they all?)....subtlety is her specialty, and her
voice comes from the angels.....

alison pipitone......buffalo's reigning rock queen.....i've been dying to
jam with her for 5 years now.....this year she at least said
'maybe'......i'm not getting any younger......

dale campbell......a unique country-style singer-songwriter with a
distinctive voice and sense of humor.....a regular at several area open
mikes......

blues with yours truly...alright!

and every year seems to bring one or two surprises.....expect a lot of
musical interaction and a great atmosphere......nietzsche's is a great place
to play and hear live music.....and i've got some great friends....

peace, love, and harmony.....

sorry to beat a dead "wild horse" (oh, that was a knee slapper - i crack

the sundays do a lovely, somewhat eerie sounding (but in a pleasant way)
cover of "wild horses" on their cd "blind" - maybe that is the one that
you heard on buffy?

speaking of people being rude during concerts, while i was standing on
emily's corner at newport, i had the unfortunate luck of being in front
of some annoying girls.  when emily asked the audience if they had any
questions (while amy fixed her guitar sound), they screamed, among
other things "yeah, we heard you are gay.  is that true?"  then they
went on to try to out-flirt eachother with the security guard.  between
hitting on him, and calling eachother dykes and saying "i thought you
were gay..." i could tell they were not only annoying me, but the
people around me as well.

wow!

this concert sounded so fantastic! congratulations!!

i have a fantasy of doing something like this! too bad i don't know any
guitar players around here who would be into the igs. i guess i'd have more
luck if i wanted to do a dave matthews show...

i could relate to so much of what you wrote about being in the zone with
this music - about surprising yourself with something that really sounds
great even to you - even though you produced it and you've done it before
etc... those are really special moments. especially when others have joined
you to make a musical experience that you could only make together.

you are very lucky to have such a great community. you have inspired me -
i'll keep looking for folks like you in the new haven area. there must be a
few!

i remember at the lexington show, sitting in front of a group of teenagers,
who kept jabbering and carrying on....what really got me was when joan biaz
was singing, one of them said " i didn't pay all this money to hear some old
woman sing!"  i didn't say anything (shocking i know) i simply turned around
and looked at her.  but that didn't stop her once again she started booing
and being rather ugly, again i simply turned around and looked at her. at
this point, one of her buddies, smacked her on the arm and told her to hush,
she replied that she didn't care, by this time the song was over and joan
had said the thing about being proud of her legacy, a&e and then i spoke.
turning around i said " that darlin is the mother of folk music, with out
her there would be no indigo girls".  she started to say something smart
back, but my g/f at the time stood up and turned around to see what kinda
trouble i was getting myself into.   the little girl took one look at karen
(she is a 6 foot basketball player, big ol muscles and all) and said
nothing. i wanted her to understand who joan was, but i dont think the
message got through.  today's generation (for the most part guys and gals
not everyone. so please dont flame me) has grown up with respect for their
elders. and with out respect for themselves as well. it is kinda scary when
you think about it.

oh fond memories... for 8 summers i did road trips by myself to projects at
a lab in maine ('89-97). the drive is about 7 hours. this gave me a chance
to go through each ig cd over and over, singing amy's parts and then
emily's, trying to get each down perfectly. they really are all great road
cd's - i don't think i could pick just one cd or song, though i know ig and
sf the best 'cause i went through them more times in those early years!

however, this summer i've been commuting by car about 45 mins each way and
it has been 1200 curfews over and over...

> album or song you identify w/ the most:
hmmm... that's tough. i'm really not sure if there is just one song i
identify with more than others. i really like the strange fire album though
- i saw somebody else who didn't like it so much, but i really do!

wild horses is a rolling stones song.  i assume it was written by mick jagger
and keith richards, a/k/a the "glimmer twins"

great song and fun to play!

how sad to hear about that kind of terrible behavior!! it is disturbing
enough to hear about disrespectful comments etc... at these joint-concerts,
but i'm seeing it more and more at individual concerts! i think it is a
general down-turn in behavior in public places - theater, all types of
music, speeches etc... as i've mentioned, i have not been to many concerts
in the past 4 years or so, but have started up again this year with 6
concerts since april. one of them was an acoustic solo performance by neil
young in the madison sq garden theatre. i was seated in a section that
seemed half filled with folks who thought they were going to really party
at this show, but neil had asked that there be no smoking, no drinking, no
flash photography, no moving around during songs etc... it would have been
so wonderful had everyone been into this!!! the acoustics were wonderful -
the guitars sounded so great!! the music was quiet and beautiful! instead
of enjoying this wonderful experience, the folks around me spent most of
the show fighting with the ushers, cursing, trying to light joints (and
having them confiscated), complaining about the music (one guy yelled, "get
real, neil!" after a he played a quiet hymn on the organ). i'm sure that
some of this commotion was heard on stage, and it really ruined it for
folks like me. one of the worst things about it was that these guys were
not kids. they were about 40 yrs old. i think i recognize them from jr.
high... they are bald now but otherwise the same.

the polar opposite was joan armatrading at town hall in nyc. freedy
johnston opened up. it was fabulous, and so was the audience. there is hope!!

it's one of my favorite covers.  however, the earliest release i've seen
of it was by the rolling stones.  i don't know which album/when it
appeared on first, but it's on the double-cd hot rocks.

the sundays version (i believe) was on the soundtrack to the movie "fear"
with mark wahlberg(sp?).

while i don't know the logic behind corporate conglomerate thinking,
i do know that borders has done the same.  on their memos of merch info and
promotions sent out to the music staff, they had the indigo girls' album
listed under october promotions.  i'm assuming this is because albums are
usually promoted and displayed for just one calendar month.  if the album
isn't out until the 28th, it wouldn't make sense to promo it for september,
because you'd get a whopping 3 days before you had to strike (take down) the
displays.  so they promo it for october to give it a full month's run.  ja?

incidentally, i've already asked the music inventory guy to lovingly set
aside for me all ig promo material that arrives.  if there is excess, i will
most certainly be auctioning or giving it away to you little list lovelies.

this got me thinking, some of you may remember indicated, the iglist tribute
tapes to, well, you know who. i know 1, 2 & 3 came out but from what i can
work out, 4 died a death, so:

indicated - the next generation is here. if you miss out, you'll be madder
than a boiled owl.

the basic rules:

- use whatever recording equipment you have available.
- record your version of an indigo girls song or two.
- no matter what the sound quality's like, it's performance that counts.
- the most original interpretaion, the better (believe me).
- it's got to be an amy or an emily original.
- can't play an instrument? fake it (like i do), get together with someone
who can or maybe even do a dramatic lyric reading.

some examples of what i did for indicateds past to get you all inspired:

hey jesus - punked up a little.
the untitled song. a damn good version of it.
ghost - as a rap
mystery - in 4/4 time instead of 3/4
shameless self promotion: hear these songs:
http://www.netreach.net/~andineil/igs/covers/covers.htm
it also gives away what i have in store for i4, but what are ya gonna do...

so, just drop me a line with what you plan on recording, i'll email you my
address, and answer any questions you have. with a deadline of say,
september 30, we should have a tape or cdr tree up and running in no time
after that for all to hear.

i'm also thinking of doing a cdr of the best of indicateds past, if you have
any favourites, let me know, or if you know where some people are nowadays
i'd be very interested - i'm thinking particularly of jj, scott ninnerman
and jan denny.

and that's basically it.
cheers :o)

favorite ig road song:
it is best that i not listen to ig when driving.
it's actually best that i not listen to anything when driving.
when roadtripping with shelley and diane, i stalled the car in a jerky
bump-da-jerk-bump-pow (ooh, say that out loud-- it's got a nice cadence to
it) fashion at the toll booth.  i was howling along with rose p. in such
utter transfixed absorption that i'd forgotten those little parts of
driving, things like the clutch pedal and the gear shift.

favorite ig:
sulli.

how many time have you seen them in concert:
uhh.  fourteen?  fifteen?  sixty?
i believe the question should be,
how much revenue have indigo girls shows garnered for the gasoline and hotel
industries?

ever met them:
actually, a few times.  the sheer boringness of the encounters is what bears
telling.  example: amy and i had one meeting wherein we stood face to face,
kinda sized each other up for a minute.  sorta smiled, sorta said hey.
sorta stood there a bit longer, sorta had a mutual self-revelation of "i
have nothing to say to this woman standing before me," said see you. walked
away. at least that's how i remember it.  (don richards, however, later
produced a photo of said encouter.  taken from over my shoulder, it depicts
the back of my fuchsia-streaked mop and one miss amy ray looking at me with
her head cocked, thumb and forefinger cradling her chin, with a rather
peculiar sly little smile and expression peeking from under her lashes.
"she's checking you out!" my friend carol said, looking at it.

indeed.  amy ray loves the curly jilly.
i have photographic proof.

oh shuddup.)

i'm actually more proud of my encounter with her boots.
she had to sidestep, almost tripped over me and lisa germano sitting on the
pavement outside the back stage door after the-- um, detroit maybe?-- sst
show.  lisa and i both looked up from those boots, up what looked like an
impossibly tall body (at least from our vantage point), and sheepishly said
sorry to her back.  amy never heard us-- she was being mobbed by screamy
fans shoving black permanent markers and liner notes in her face.

>afraid would remain "mute...with nothing to draw from"...
why is this a recurring sentiment?
i like how we're all such incredible human beings in our lives and work and
love, but when faced with meeting-- gasp-- somebody who-- oh my!-- stands on
stage-- yikes!-- with a guitar-- ohhh me!, we're suddenly reduced to
blithering sacs of protoplasm who could never have aaaaanything of worth to
speak aloud.
come now.  you ought to be boldly introducing yourself with a grandiose
swagger.  you ought to be hoping that, faced with the heart-pounding
spectacle of meeting *you*, the indigo girls will find *something*
meaningful to quietly mumble in your earshot.
go do some daily affirmations and then come tell us why you'd make amy ray's
punky heart pound in nervous excitement.

oh criminy.
i don't even know the name of the theatre.
for those of you who've been to <insert name of auditorium in philly where
the girls are playing oct 4 & 5>, please answer this:
what is the loge?
i got tickets online (many kisses to those of you who offered to snag
tickets for me-- there are many good folks around here) last night, and,
faced with the prospect of 34th row floor (uh?!) or 3rd row loge, i opted to
brave my fear of heights for a couple hours to get a better view.
looking at the poorly-scanned floorplans that ticketmaster.com provided that
made me go farsighted, it appears to me that this loge doohickeymawhatsit is
a low balcony, the first tier.  (but it's not called 'balcony.'  there's two
other sections that bear that title.)  judging by the row numbers (or
letters, as the case is), it appears to hang directly above the first
section of seats.  for those of you who've been inside, is this correct?

and.  who's opening???
michal just sent me a most breathless stream-of-consciousnessly-excited
email that rose polenzani is opening.  can anyone support or refute this
claim?  i'd like to call mike cunningham to testify.

so.  if you're going to be in town to see the girls on monday, why the heck
not arrive a little early-- oh, say, a day? -- and see rose polenzani and
erin mckeown at the iota in virginia.  i don't think it's more than three
hours from philly.  and then you can drive around d.c. with me and michal
and anna and god knows who else and and we can have a big sleepover and and
and we can go out and paint the town chartreuse and and and and uhm yeah.
i think you should go.
i think you all should go.

they are ig nuts! often have them for interviews when they are in town and
play them at least once a day, it seems. usually more often than that but i

ferron.
when she supported the igs in '94 they duetted (trioed?) on this song, and
it was even better than this cd. wish i had a good tape of it. the igs also
did backup vocals on a song (stand up) onone of ferron's albums (phantom
center, i believe)

and i'm still kicking myself for missing ferron last week at the tinangel

oh the sadness!  no one has birthdays they have submitted for this week.

if you are not on the list, and would like to be, feel free to
email me privately.  i will put you on the list asap.  some people have
just included their email address and birthday, others include their real
name, and lots include quotes.  any form is acceptable.  similarly, if you
are on the list and would like to add/change/delete your entry, do so
privately and i will update.  do not forget to include your b-day if you
are in the add/change/delete category...i really don't want to sift
through hundreds of entries to find yours.  thanks :)

i haven't read my listmail yet so sorry if this is a duplicate question...

i tried to get tickets for raleigh on saturday and by the time i got through
(about 10:10 am), they were up to row o in the side section.  is it me, or
is there something fishy about that?  i just can't believe it would sell out
over half the front section in 10 minutes.  does anyone know if brokers got
the good tickets?  did anyone on this list get good seats / seats in the
center in the first 15 rows?  did anyone get extras that are good that they
want to sell me?  i need 2.  i had crappy seats for lilith and i'm not doing
that again.  thanks for any info if ya'll can help.  maybe i'll be doing
that last minute thing.

i was reminded by the comment about the girl who was ragging on joan baez:
at the philly suffragette sessions show,  there was a middle aged hetero
couple standing beside me near the stage, both wearing full jane siberry
regalia. they were not blatantly disrespectful of any act, but through every
song except jane's, they would cross their arms and look uncomfortable until
their muse returned to the stage...they looked positively *scared* during
jean smith's song, and somewhat in pain during shonen knife's set, but at
least they were quiet.

1st ig album you heard/bought/what year:

1st album heard:  self-titled late '93/early '94
1st album bought:  swamp ophelia august 1994 (then slowly, bought the
rest of the albums over the next 6-12 months, savoring each one and
dreading the day when i'd run out of new ig albums to sink my teeth in
to...  last one was n*i*s (my fav!) then sots when it came out, not to
mention many, many boots, too, of old, fun tunes & lots of interesting
banter (emily, in low-pitched, mocking voice:  "amy's wasted" ha!)

favorite ig road song:

joking (not to mention many, many others...)

album or song you identify w/ the most:

i don't truly "identify" with any ig songs/albums, but i completely dig:
nomads*indians*saints (album) and world falls (song)

favorite ig:

amy (no question)

how many time have you seen them in concert:

as you can see, the last 4 of 6 times i've seen them has either been a lf

so i'm ready to see a good ol' looooong set of just them! (well, &
sinead's band, too, i guess...) and, hey, if you've been to any of the
above concerts and want to swap stories/reminisce, you see my email

ever met them:

no, and don't really want to...  don't want to be seen/known as "rabid

always fun...

looking forward to the new album, and hoping they come near soon...

1st ig album you heard/bought/what year:
n*i*s in either late 1990 or early 1991.  not my favorite ig album,
but it was a nice introduction to them.

favorite ig road song:
get out the map:  i've actually heard this song on two
different vacations.  it is a great travelling tune!

album or song you identify w/ the most:
the song i identify with the most is probably "nashville."
although i've never been there or tried to be a singer, i know
the frustration of trying to break into some aspect of show
business and not meeting with any success.

favorite ig:
i tend to like amy ray's songs more than emily's but i don't claim to
really know either one, so i can't really say on a personal level who
is my "favorite."

how many time have you seen them in concert:
four concerts, plus i was in the audience during one of their
tonight show tapings.

ever met them:
yes.  i was at a signing at a virgin music store and got to
talk to them briefly.  amy's speaking voice is just as sexy
as her singing voice and emily can be very sweet!

okay, i'm wordy, and i have an ellipsis fetish (sorry... jilly?  beccie?).. but
here's my $0.02:

> 1st ig album you heard/bought/what year:
i heard the self-titled album back in late '89, after a professor/friend from
alaska had recommended them.
another really great friend (and incredibly cute girly) named krystal and i
shared a beer and a song many
times that year... and the song was always "prince of darkness".  she was the
first inkling that i'd ever
had that i liked girls.  little elven adorableness. i miss her still. *sigh* she
first got me to sing to ig.
(thanks krys.)

> favorite ig road song:
right now it's "get out the map" ... sounds like an excellent way to choose a
way to go.

> album or song you identify w/ the most:
i had a period of time where i was sure i was living "nomads, indians & saints."
  lately, now, it's been
"the wood song" and "galileo" and "it's alright", always with an aside of "you &
me of the 10,000 wars"
to my mom.

> favorite ig:
it's hard to say... emily's poignant, poetic lyrics grasp my heart and hold it
tight.  and amy's gut-wrenching
honesty and vivid pain speak volumes about what i can't often voice.  i love
them both, dearly; i'm so glad
for the clarity their music has lent me.  and i'm glad for the "distant
friendship" they've extended, like emily
describes in virginia woolf; they send "a letter to my soul".

> how many time have you seen them in concert:
once.  fall of '92, i think.  at michigan state. incredible.
want to see them again . very soon.

> ever met them:
no, but like everyone else here, i'd *love* to... my secret hope/fantasy/wish
would be to sing with
them... after so many times of singing at the top of my lungs with them playing
on the stereo....
singing with them in real life would be.... spiritual.

okay, there's mine. :-) very cool thread -- wish the girls could see it. :-)

this reminds me:  on saturday evening, i had the chance to see tina (of tina
and the b-sides) play a solo acoustic show at schuba's and, by virtue of
being there by myself and close to first, grabbed a seat on one end of the
first row.  fast forward to the encore.  she plays.  we stand up and scream.
i'm busy being a silly, bouncy fan girl, forgetting that the person i'm
screaming for is oh, five feet away from me.  and then tina (who's last name
i would be using, had i a clue of the spelling) reaches over, shakes my
hand, and says "thank you".

hello human.

ignoring anyone! i still dont have my computer set up in my apt, in fact, i am
waiting for a new imac to arrive from ups... and the library was closed for
the weekend, so i had no means of checking my mail. please be patient! and, on
top off all the other crap that's been going on, i got into a pretty bad car
wreck last night. im ok, just some cuts and bruises, and the other people were
f-i-n-e fine. it was completely their fault! my car  is practically totalled.
i might have to go to court, yada yada yada. and today's my birthday and first

stay tuned. hope you are all well....

hmm.

first ig album:  indigo girls, late 89/early 90?

album i most identify with: swamp ophelia or rites of passage.

amy or emily:  amy.  i didn't get any of her songs for the first year or two
that i listened to them; then i grew up.  i appreciate emily's guitar
playing, but amy's songs, well, slay me.

how many times seen in concert?
3 times in berkeley
2 times in san francisco
1 time in bloomington
2 times in chicago
1 time in cincinatti
1 time in new jersey
1 time at newport
1 time in saratoga
i think that makes 12.

have i met?  hmmm...i met emily briefly post suffragette show in chicago,
and had her sign my journal (i think to inspire me to write in it and not
leave it in bagel shops, which i, at the time, was prone to do).  i saw amy
as a brief blur between the theater and the bus.  i'm less hopped up on the
whole idea of "meeting" wildly cool and famous people that i look up to than
i was, oh, a year ago.

hey, jill--how are those persimmon poems coming?  any new additions ;)

peace,
shel

i am already overwhelmed by the response to this.  i'm still happy to make
bootlegs for those requesting them, but know that it might be a few weeks
before you get your completed disc back.  just to let ya'll know - be
patient, okay?

a cover amy should do is "bad to the bone" by george thorogood (sp?) - can't
you just see emily wailing on the slide guitar, and amy.... singing.... "i
make a rich woman bad, and i make a good woman steal i make an old woman
blush, and i make a young girl squeal".... and "now when i walk the streets,
kings and queens step aside every woman i meet, they all stay satisfied i
wanna tell you pretty baby, what i see i make my own and i'm here to tell
you honey, that i'm bad to the bone"
that would rock!!!!!

1st ig album you heard/bought/what year:
the first album i heard was shaming of the sun. i bought that from columbia
house shortly after i borrowed it from my friend for 3 months!

favorite ig road song:
chickenman!

album or song you identify w/ the most:
the song has to be watershed. i have a wicked problem with choices in my
life and stand "agonizing" over them forever. i have to learn how to learn
that life has so many choices and paths to take!

favorite ig:
honestly i cannot choose a favorite. most times i tend to relate more to
emily's songs but amy's songs have their appeal on certain occassions. and
from what i've seen on like the watershed video and such amy's personality
matches up with mine pretty closely. but since i don't know them personally i
cannot say.

how many time have you seen them in concert:
once. i never have the time to go anywhere.

ever met them:
i wish.

greetings :o)

<<i tried to get tickets for raleigh on saturday and by the time i got
through (about 10:10 am), they were up to row o in the side section.  is it
me, or is there something fishy about that?>>

actually, i think it's normal. it still may be fishy, but it's not unusual.
i got simon/dylan tickets from ticketbastard at maybe 10:05 (the day the
went on sale) at the latest and they were nowhere near the best.

and we were at the philly box office for the indigo girls shows, and i guess
they'd hooked up to tb's system for tickets, so instead of all us queueing
folks getting the first four rows, as would have been the case if the venue
had blocked off tickets for themselves we ended up all over the place. bah!
it's the lasses that camped out overnight i feel the most sorry for. if
anyone deserved great tickets etc. etc.

basically it's my supposition that i would have gotten better seats from tb
at the mall 'cause i'd have ended up buying them earlier. as for the $$
extra it would have cost, i'd pay it for better seats...

<<i just can't believe it would sell out over half the front section in 10
minutes.  does anyone know if brokers got the good tickets?>>

probably :o) they pay people to get tickets for them, legit (waiting in
line) or otherwise - remember the hootie show that some box office dude got
bribed to offload the first 10 rows or so??
then there's the comp tickets for the record company/artist/management.
and the people who work for tb and the venue box office who want tickets for
themselves and their friends.

<<did anyone on this list get good seats / seats in the center in the first
15 rows?  did anyone get extras that are good that they want to sell me?>>

try those brokers :o)

in short, i much preferred when i have tix for shows that either reward you
for loyally trecking to the box office, or are in v. small places anyway, or
better still are general admission so you can have fun camping out in line
for half the afternoon... those were the days :o)

i have too much to say, as always... but i'll be back :o)

so i was thinking, before i answer jilly questions, if anyone's going to be
shipping themselves in and needs somewhere to crash, then folks are more
than welcome to stay with us. we're only 15 minutes or so from the tower and
we have plenty of bedspace and hard cider and musical instruments and

<snip>
come now.  you ought to be boldly introducing yourself with a grandiose
swagger.  you ought to be hoping that, faced with the heart-pounding
spectacle of meeting *you*, the indigo girls will find *something*
meaningful to quietly mumble in your earshot.
go do some daily affirmations and then come tell us why you'd make amy ray's
punky heart pound in nervous excitement.
<snip>

this is soooooooooooooooo true because it was totally like how i have met
people that have completely inspired me - john hockenberry, dana reeve, (i
actually heard a phone conversation with chris reeve last year and i asked
him a question, but not really a meet.

when i met amy and emily the first time - i snuck (the door was so unlocked,
i could hear amy, so ya'know, i figured it was a invitation 8^) into a
soundcheck, and i and this other person were going to be thrown out as said
amy ray walked buy - so i asked her something about the previous show and if
she could sign my rop cd, intrigued she did, as did emily, and they let me
listen to the complete soundcheck and boot the show from the sound booth.

someone gave me advice to try and not "idolize" anyone when you meet them,
but to engage the person,. like "i really like your music, but when you sing
song x, is it about this?"

instant respect - and it certainly isn't learned over night nor is it even
easy - but it does take you much further that "oh my....god.."

(trust me, i still do that)

but when i met peter buck (ask fran egan how absolutely happy i was that
day) i made it a point to ask him if he'd ever play falls to climb (i
figured please please play the wrong child so i can hear it live wasn't
going anywhere) he actually said he never thought about it but that it was a
cool idea.

they've been playing it throughout the tour, including last night in atlanta
(grumble, grumble...)

i cannot wait to see rem

i also went to the tori/alanis concert...at the arts center in nj (on
saturday). it was pretty cool.  tori was amazing.  she sang a lot of
stuff from her new album (which is supposed to be out sometime in
sept.)i'm not a huge alanis fan, but she was great as well.  tori came
on first for us as well.  each played for about an 1.5 hours.  i was
hoping that the two would sing something together, but no such luck.
anyway, it's definately worth seeing. have a good time whoever is
going.

i received the following from lindy asking about wristbands at bumbershoot.
i've not known a line to be waiting outside.

there are a total of 5 wristband booth so if one says they are out, just go
to the next one. make this your first stop of the day and you will be fine.
you only need wristbands for the headlining act each nite and they will do a
"sweep" between each act so don't plan on working your way up as the day
goes on. like i said, my plan is to go grab us listees a spot up front as
soon as they finish their sweep since i have to be in the stadium the whole
time anyway.

here is where the wristband booths will be:
        near the intiman theater
        sw corner of international fountain
        ex-hall lawn
        imax dome
        near pacific science center
near memorial stadium (i guess this is an extra they threw in at the last
moment)

don't plan on picking up a wristband for anyone. they put them on you right
there, on one particular arm. for those of you trying to get a wristband for
someone who will arrive late, you may try just flexing your wrist so it goes
on loose. with enough work, i was able to slide mine off and give it to
someone else last year.

i talked to the folks at one reel and they said maximum capacity of memorial
stadium is 22,000 (she said this doesn't include floor seating). i will try
to see what i can do about getting some extra wristbands for that day but i
can't promise anything. so please, make the wristband booth your first stop.
your first stop.

for more info on wristbands, check this out.

hey all....
i was at this show and i just wanted to say that tim and his friends did
a great job.  i had heard about it about a month ago during the second annual
tawanda women's music festival, and i thought it was a great idea.  (i am
always shocked to meet others who feel the same about the girls as i; maybe
because for so long i never met anyone who liked them...)
tim is ever so modest, he did a wonderful job accompanying so many others
on the electric guitar.  i was surprised to see him begin a set, because i
was under the impression that he would not be performing alone.  the 3 covers
that he did were great and added a nice twist to the evening.
his review is right on the money ...why oh why does aerin not subscribe
to this list?  she is "enthralled" by the girls and her love of them is
evident when she performs their music.
i wish you all could have been there.

have to share a "famous person" meeting with you guys--

one of my good friends worked for the democratic nt'l convention a few years
back--she had a blast.

one night out on the floor, she looked beside her, and good golly, there
stood ted danson.

she remarked, "you're ted danson."  (she has a habit of thinking out
loud--it's great).

he replied, "yes."

she laughed and said, "guess you get that a lot, huh?  have a good night."

handled with appropriate lack of being star-struck, i believe.

anyway, i got a kick out of the story.

hope everyone has a great week.

as if this will have any bearing between now and friday and our weathermen

i clipped this from the msnbc site this afternoon.  thought those of you who
use hotmail might like to know about this...

hotmail accounts compromised

web pages let visitors see thousands of personal e-mail accounts without a
password

by bob sullivan
msnbc

aug. 30 - personal e-mail accounts hosted at microsoft's hotmail.com have
been compromised, allowing virtually anyone to access a hotmail account
without a password. thanks to the work of a computer hacker, viewers visiting
at least three web sites, and possibly more, were able to see personal e-mail
accounts simply by entering a hotmail user name. microsoft says it has fixed
the flaw, but hotmail users are left wondering who might have read their
e-mail.

just how long hotmail's 40 million e-mail accounts may have been compromised
was not immediately known.
(microsoft is a partner in msnbc.)

jon thompson, administrator of one of the sites that hosted the hotmail
exploit, said associates of his have known about the vulnerability - and had
access to hotmail accounts - for about eight weeks. he said the culprit was
msn's new passport service, which allows users to click between msn web sites
without logging in each time, and said the vulnerability has existed since
msn launched passport in beta form.

christian carrwik, the reporter who broke the story for the swedish tabloid
expressen, said he was tipped off to the vulnerability by a hacker during the
weekend. that hacker told carrwik members of the computer underground
discovered the hole late last week.

deanna sanford, lead project manager for msn, said the flaw was not related
to passport but added she did not know how long the vulnerability was in
place. she said the company had no way of knowing how many illicit logins of
hotmail accounts there may have been.

she confirmed microsoft took its hotmail service offline for about two hours
monday morning while it fixed the flaw. but while the company put hotmail
back online at 10 a.m. pt, a slight variation of the exploit still worked at
12:30 p.m.

"there was one server which did not get updated," sanford said. "there are
lots of hotmail servers to support 40 million accounts."

one of the mirror sites for the hack was registered to erik barkel of
stockholm, sweden. in response to an e-mail sent to the site, a writer
identifying himself as barkel told msnbc: "i didn't code the thing. i did
host a mirror of it. the mirror is gone. thank you."

that writer also said the original site for the hack was hosted by a web site
ending in .uz, which indicates it was located in uzbekistan.

thompson said the hack was just one line of computer code - a single url,
really - which could be entered into any web browser.

the source code for creating a copycat of the hotmail hack web site was
readily available, and at least one mirror version of it was still up at 5:30
p.m. et. the hack no longer worked, however.

in an obvious sarcastic jab, visitors to one of the other hotmail hack sites
are now being redirected to microsoft's security bulletin web site.

another spokesperson from microsoft said the company heard about the problem
through european press early monday morning pacific time.

the hotmail site appeared to be functioning normally at midday monday, and
there was no notice to users that their e-mail may have been read by someone
else.

"it's not a good thing when you hear that security is an issue," sanford
said. "the good thing is we were able to respond quickly."

hey everyone, i just happened to be reading some older posts on the (don't

it very interesting and.... (gratuitous use of ellipses) very uplifting to
have yet another offering to look forward to.

<<< the following article was written by larry filick for billboard magazine:
the future of indigo girls will, no doubt, be called into question once word
circulates that ray is planning
to cut a solo album within the next year. 'it's just something i need to get
out of my system,'' says ray,
who is eyeing the possibility of issuing the set on her own indie label,
daemon records. ''it's not going to
be a big deal. i just want to make a punky little record.'' <<<<

hi,

i am creating a series of high quality cdr's of
various indigo girls performances from over the years.
the first cdr is finished, and i was wondering if
there is anyone out there who might be interested in
starting and administering the cd tree for the disc,
and possibly and/or for future discs.

i would prefer someone who has participated in a tree
before and knows how much work is involved in setting
one up and running it.  essentially i would provide
the source disc and then the rest would be up to you.

please don't email me directly requesting copies of
the cdr, i am asking someone else take care of the
tree so that i can start work on the next disc.  i
promise we will do our best to make sure everyone who
wants one gets a copy.

please email if interested in taking care of the tree.

thanks for the bandwidth and have a good day,

janet doe

i hadn't seen any other posts about lilith in denver, so i thought i
would provide my own short review.  i attended the sunday show.

the weather was beautiful.  the venue was fantastic!  i couldn't believe
how beautiful fiddler's green was.  who would have suspected that a
place that fantastic was planted in the middle of denver tech industrial
area.  we stayed at the hilton and walked to the venue.

i managed to see melanie doane and another woman on the village stage
and second stage.  i can't remember the other woman's name, but she was
doing a really radical rap.  seemed a little angry to me.  melanie doane
was really great.  k's choice was wonderful too.

i didn't really enjoy monica (main stage opening act).  nothing bad.
just not my type of music.  she was very energetic.  i liked that.

as other people on the list have said ... dixie chicks rocked!  i like
country music, but i hadn't really listened to them.  by the way ...
their new album comes out today.  if for nothing else, get it to hear
the "earl" song.  kind of a thelma and louise song - man beating woman,
woman and best friend kill him.  it was really a great song.  ig came
out and played with them - okay, shoot me, i can't remember the dixie
chicks' song they participated in.  maybe, wide open spaces.

ig came out.  they looked good, they smiled, they laughed.  amy in
jeans, boots - i love that look.

i was in a section very close to the stage and got photos.  i'll let you
guys know if they come out.  i also have the set list at home - sorry,
i'm at work and i'm getting ready to leave for three weeks for a trial
in a tiny town in southern new mexico.  they only played two of the new
songs - faye tucker and gone again (with sheryl crow).  they started out
with shame on you, galileo, shed you skin, love's recovery (with sarah).
i wanted more indigo girls, but it just wasn't meant to be.  they did
rockin' in the free world with k's choice.  everyone came out for closer
to fine.  love rockin' in the free world with k's choice.  really love
k's choice, too.

sheryl crow was wonderful.  i really enjoyed her.  of course, about that
time was when the drunk 20-somethings behind me started spilling beer
all over me.  angered me to the point i was going to hit them with my
umbrella.  they were awful people to sit in front ot.

sarah was beautiful.  she did all the popular stuff, of course.  i'm sad
that this was the last lilith i get to see.  :-(  but, it was great.
and i have to be happy that i got to see ig.

take care guys.  i have to sign off the list while i'm at trial.  i
won't have access to my e-mail.  but, i'll be back on the 20th of
september.  feel free to e-mail me.

garian - i'll have those copies of photos for you!  send me your snail
mail address and i'll send them to you when i get back.  it was really
great getting to see you again!!!!!!

hey everyone,

somebody (sorry, i don't remember who) posted a couple of weeks ago
bemoaning the lack of buzz on the list about the new album.
so i thought i'd share some of my own idle speculation!

i've been wondering about philosophy of loss, the so-called hidden track at
the end (how can it be hidden if we all know where to find it already, even
before the release??).
anyway, it's an emily song, right? and i don't think any of us has heard it
yet? so i was thinking (and this is just a shot in the dark, based on little
more than wishful thinking) that this song might just be winthrop.
emily doesn't actually introduce winthrop by name in any of the boots i
have. and it is after all a song about some friends hanging out in a coffee
shop and philosophizing about loss.
just a thought. and in the likely event that i am totally wrong about this,
i apologise in advance to all the winthrop-lovers out there for getting your
hopes up!
if philosophy of loss turns out to be an all-new, unknown emily song, well
that would be just as good (or better!), so i don't really mind. i just wish
28 sep would hurry up and arrive...

(just before i go, thanks to jill for all the chan marshall info. and sorry
about that ellipsis ;-)

back to lurking,

jen mcq

on the warfield 1/27/97 boot she does introduce the song as winthrop.  here
are the lyrics:

winthrop

when we get back to winthrop
a few miles from the airport
on a plastic chair
on a deck where my friends live
i watch the taking off airplanes
i watch the ocean waves crashing
with all of this movement something's got to give

down at the high tide
passed down through the family
the fishermen gather to complain about the catch
they talk about time
they talk about tides
the pull of the moon and the coffee deep night black
and i listen to them
and i listen to you
and for everyone there is something never coming back

but for all that we've been through
for all that we've promised
your wayward direction seems insensible
words fall off like breathless fish
all flopping and scattered
and hearts picked over deemed dispensible

down at the high tide
we're there for our last meal
the broken loaves are still enough for all
and we talk about time
and we talk about tides
under the moon with the deep night coffee black
i hear the dim roar of the last flight out
and for someone there is someone never coming back

we talk about time
we talk about tides
under the moon and the deep night coffee black
i hear the dim roar of the last flight out
and for someone there is someone never coming back

the official ig site has been updated with an interesting tidbit:

10/01/99 - americus, ga - rylander theater - sold out

yep, it never went on sale, but is sold out?  hmmm... interesting...
the story is that the rylander theater is really old & historic and has
recently been restored yada-yada and the 1st of october is it's reopening
gala (i don't make these words up, see their website below).

that's it for mystery ig theater - i've updated my website accordingly and
here's the rylander site:

there was an interview with a+e in a local paper over the weekend.  it's
long, so i can't type the entire thing right now and i couldn't find it
archived on the website.  it discussed cuba, the new album, the
suffragettes tour, daemon, etc...  i will transcribe a few sections with
important news and info:

***
current projects

the indigo girls have never been shy about their political stances and are
currently working on a boycott of the phillip morris company, best known
for its marlboro cigarettes, as well as virginia slims and others.  ray
said that tobacco companies have lost so many of their advertising
avenues that they've started doing things like giving money to local
charities to improve their community profiles.

"it's kind of like you're donating money to an aids organization, or a
gay-oriented organization even, and at the same time you're giving money
to the campaigns of right-wing political candidates who are gutting
welfare and aids research and medicare.  it's back ass-wards!"

"virginia slims has been sponsoring these dueling divas rock-off contests
with women's bands and the winners get some money and some local
charities get some money," ray said.  "and so basically, we're trying to
say to these bands, 'don't do these contests, they're buying you.'  we're
trying to influence organizations to reapproach who they take money from.
because it's dirty money."

"it's hard because these organizations really need this money because so
much of their money has been pulled by politicians in office that
influence those thing, who are voted in by phillip morris money."

so the indigo girls have made some connections and written up some fact
sheets and are talking to the winners of these contests and trying to get
them not to take the money.  in many instances, the indigo girls are
coughing up the prize moneys to pay the bands and organizations instead.

the artists who win also have to sign contracts that prevent them from
ever saying anything bad about tobacco, ray said.  the indigo plan is to
go to the cities where these contests are happening and try to drum up
support for a boycott.

the future

after lilith fair, the indigo girls will strike out with the new band on a
tour to promote "come on now social," which will hit record stores the
third week of september.

"we start full force in september," saliers said, "and we'll go up until
the holiday season.  we may go back to australia at the beginning of the
year.  we're planning on doing some (outdoor shows), some college dates,
some rock 'n' roll club tours."

"we'd also like to do the suffragette sessions tour again," saliers said.
the suffragette sessions took place after the last indigo girls touring
season, when saliers and ray hooked up with about 12 other women
singer/songwriters and learned each other's songs.  they took to the road
and played a series of small clubs.

"we'll do that again sometime next year," ray said.

ray also said that there will definitely be another honor the earth tour,
probably next summer or the following fall.  the first honor the earth
tour took place across the country on american indian reservations with
all the proceeds going to grassroots indigenous organizations.  that tour
resulted in an album, compiled of various mainstream and native american
musicians, which is available on ray's daemon records.  ray said there may
or may not be a second album produced from this next tour.

so indigo fans, don't miss the girls at this year's lilith festival in
denver.  but if you do, don't worry, they'll be back.  colorado is a
shoe-in for the upcoming "come on now social" tour, saliers said.  "we
always go to colorado.  we love playing colorado."

it could also have something to do with habitat for humanity since they
are headquartered there. indigo girls have been supporters of habitat in
the past and i know habitat is making a big push to end the 1999 year.
and there really aren't that many people in americus, ga (i was just
there for orientation with habitat myself).
