just wondering if anyone has seen or heard about this. it's kind of
relevant. it has indigo content and with the amount of untapped musical
talent we have on our list i would think there's also a few talented
actors among our mix as well.
taken following is from the may 02, 1999 edition of the duluth
news-tribune
article by chris casey
<for any northlander who's ever wanted to appear in a movie --
and missed out on that big ''iron will'' event a few years back
-- here's your chance.
the makers of ''chasing indigo,'' an adventure comedy that will be
filmed near detroit lakes, want aspiring actors to audition this week at
the duluth radisson hotel.
filmmakers want to fill up to 60 speaking roles, mostly for characters
whom the two main characters encounter during their road adventure. a
couple leading roles are open as well.
although there is no assurance minor-role actors will be paid, the
filmmakers say the acting experience is helpful.
carol brook-marino, one of the screenwriters, said american indians are
especially needed. the lead characters go on reservations, but they meet
plenty of white people,
too,'' she said.
the minor roles, which will require about a day's work, include
cashiers, casino security guards, reporters, waitresses, concert roadies
and ''rednecks,'' brook-marino said.
most of the film will be shot this summer on the white earth
reservation, about 20 miles north of detroit lakes. a car-accident
scene is scripted for duluth, brook-marino said. she hopes to land gov.
jesse ventura for a bit part in that scene.
''i just gotta call his agent and figure that out,'' said brook-marino,
who earned a teaching degree at bemidji state university before moving
to los angeles to pursue a
film career. while in minnesota, she spent a year working on the white
earth reservation.
brook-marino wrote the film with andrew roa, who will appearin an
upcoming woody allen film.
the filmmakers also are holding open auditions in fargo, n.d. closed
auditions will take place in minneapolis and chicago.
''we want to see what talent is here,'' brook-marino said of duluth.
''if we have everyone here except for a (celebrity) name, we're ok with
that.''
the film involves a pair of women who find $2 million in mobsters' loot
and stow it, in a moment of haste, on a vehicle that happens to be the
indigo girls' tour bus. the
bus then rolls off on the honor the earth concert tour, a real-life
indigo girls tour that stops at indian reservations. the pair of women,
one an american indian, give chase and encounter an array of offbeat
characters on their travels.>
also... if you go:
the auditions are being held this week at the duluth radisson hotel.
people must be at least age 20 and should bring a photgraph of
themselves. snapshots are acceptable.
each audition will take about five minutes. they're scheduled for
1 to
8 p.m tuesday (5/4/99) and 1 to 5 p.m. friday (5/7/99).
for more information, call carol brook-marino at (218) 573-9600.
sorry so late on this, just got it yesterday!
take care all!

i guess this seems like a pretty good deal (although i do like the canadian
version better where you order the cds from a&b sound instead of
ticketmonger). also, you gotta wonder how many venues are gonna hold the
really good seats for regular sales and comps.
