this is a random question to which ill probably have no replies, but is there
anyone who is interested in trading 2 good seat tickets of the greenville
show for my 2 good seat tickets to chattanooga?   i believe chatty will be
small, and the auditorium is beautiful, but it's just that it's 4 hrs from me
on a school night and greenville is one.  anyone interested, please private
email me... thanks!

i hadn't seen a review of the ig cd release party last night, so i guess
i'll post my partial review (partial because i missed much of it).

as michael cunningham <mcunningham@pbp1.com> and susan brill recently posted
to the list, there was a cd release party at starbucks in nyc last night.

wfuv 90.7 radio (npr type format hosted by fordham university out of the
bronx...mostly irish format) hosted the event and wfuv's own rita houston
mc'd.  rita as many on this list may recall was the woman who introduced ig
at their head-lining performance of the guinness fleadh in 1998.  the event
started at 7:00, but i didn't arrive until well after 8:00.

rita introduced the new record and then they played it.  they also had an ig
trivia contest (which i missed, but i would have cleaned up on) for tickets
to their nyc shows and free goodies.  there was also a drawing for more free
goodies:  posters, fridge magnets (i'm assuming the same ones that are in
the rumored press kits), and the cons cd.  the one that really bummed me out
was that they also gave away tickets to a meet & greet with indigo girls.

that in itself was fairly interesting, but since i arrived so late, i
actually spent most of time chatting with the folks from wfuv radio.  the
intern guy (i think his name was bob) told me that ig will be doing a studio
performance (not unlike their recent one at kmtt in seattle) at wfuv in the
early afternoon of october 12th before their show.

finally, i was able to score about a dozen of the album promo posters.
these are 12" double sided posters designed to be hung in record store
windows.  side one has the now-famous album cover with our favorite little
girl and says "come on now social" and side two says "indigo girls" in this
woody/air-brushed script.  this is what the 12" vinyl will look like.  i've
got to tell you, seeing the little girl that big is very powerful, very
cool.  look for these in a record store window near you.

that's it from new york city.

[sherlyn's note: this message was originally sent to the indigo

there is a display ad for cons in this week's nashville scene.  interesting
photo.  it is kind of a tight shot of amy and emily in a cornfield.  they're
standing in a corn row, and amy is in front, looking kind of imposing with
kind of a badass look on her face.  emily is almost hidden behind amy,
peeping her head out from behind her.  em's got this alarmed look on her
face, kind of like someone who is peeing in the woods and thinks no one sees
them, but then they hear people coming, you know? :o)  anyway, em's got one
of those "oops, i'm caught" looks, while amy's got this "who are you and what
are you doing here" kind of looks.  <g>   like i said, it is interesting.
kind of playful, actually.  at the top of the ad it says (in the album title
font) "come on now listen."  there is a photo of the album cover and as
expected, it features that ugly, er i mean cute little girl with her knife
and wooden stick.  it is, i suppose, a co-op ad with best buy.  it says the
new album will be available sept. 28 at all best buy locations.  it says
"indigo girls - come on now social - the new album, featuring go and peace
tonight"  i guess that means there's a good chance epic will release go as a
single. <hoping>  anyhoo, just thought i'd share.  haven't heard any new ig
songs on the radio locally, but the stations that would play it don't have a
strong enough signal for my radio to receive at work.

peace!

hey everyone!
i'm not subscribed to the list under this address, but i'm hoping i can
post anyway! last night i went to my school's school of the americas watch
meeting where they showed 3 videos on the soa. i can't believe the
atrocities that have been committed through that school. right now, i'm in
the early stages of becoming educated on the soa but i'm definitely
interested in finding out more. well, the videos were quite depressing
until a one minute spot in the 3rd one, crossing the line, where all of
sudden amy ray was on stage playing "go" at the fort benning protest. i
knew she had gone there but did not know she performed! it cheered me a bit
to see her on the screen singing and giving hope to the crowd. just thought
i'd share one of my first indigo moments in a long time!
becky
ps-are there any other listees at obelrin (freshman or upperclassmen) who
want to hang out and listen to the indigos (or other music of course!)? i
think i'm driving my roommates nuts with so much indigo stuff!
