not sure if this is already common knowledge, but i read the following today:

10/3 article in the lowell sun (lowell, massachusetts):

"she's (amy) going to make a solo record, a bunch of punk songs she'll do
with a different band.   i am thinking of doing one, too.  i haven't quite
decided yet.  but i think we'll always work together.  being able to do solo
things is just a matter of security.  you know in any good relationship, you
let your partner do things like that."

hey all,

in light of the trouble vs. peace tonight/overt-gay-themes-in-music
discussion, i found the following blurb in this week's outlines (chicago
g/l/b/t newsweekly) to be, well, a bit interesting:

>from tracy baim's column (quoted w/o permission):

"we wanted to do a big indigo girls release
part in chicago (their new album come
on now social is out this week on epic),
but the sony promotional folks (sony
owns epic) in chicago just donīt seem to
understand the lesbigay market here at all.
well, we hope next time they come
through town, the p.r. folks will be a bit
more educated. or maybe amy and emily
can just take control of it themselves."

yikes,
shelley

i just recieved this from the warfield/filmore people regarding the nov.
8 sf show:

<<hey there,
as of right there is no indigo girls show to confirm.  i called down
and talked to the booking agents asst. and she informed me that they put it
up on their web site without having booked a thing.  as of right now there
is no show so there is no information.  you should contact the warfield
show information line @ 415-775-7722.  this will confirm any show and tell
you when it goes on sale.>>

bummer!!  if you look at the ig epic tour site now, there is no nov. 8th show
up there now.  wonder what's going on??  we need more than one ig show in the
bay area!!  if anyone comes across any info on added show for the sf area,
let us all know!

hey folks,

indigo girls are this week's band of the week at ubl (the
ultimate band list).  they're running a contest to win a
signed strat - see here:
        http://ubl.com/fp.asp?layout=main_band_page

this minor blurb is also on the ubl site:

- ---begin blurb---
"the most natural thing in the world for us is to marry social
activism with our music because our music is so deeply rooted
in life issues," says emily saliers one half of the duo better
known as the indigo girls. over their ten year career, emily
along with amy ray have bravely and faithfully committed their
voices, time and money to the issues that concern them most,
among them women's rights, protection of the environment, the
right of indigenous peoples, gay and lesbian rights, and gun
control, creating a presence and impact outside conventional
boundaries of the music world. their new release come on now
social, is an adventurous and rewarding offering that features
such notable guests as joan osborne, sheryl crow, me'shell,
and garth hudson and rick danko of the band.

[sherlyn's note: this message was originally sent to the indigo

hkfs,

these are very basic chords...not a note for note transcription.  first of
all capo 2nd fret.

but, the basic chords for the verses (from my interpretation) are: e, g. a.
c, repeat throughout the verse

chorus "raise your hands..." :  am, em, am, em, d, c, and e back into the
verses

bridge:  "did they tell you it would come undone..."  g, d, am, c, am, c,
repeat....

if you can play, you will be able to figure out the filler parts.  these are
just the basic chords!

peace, and happy playing!
