hi everyone.  just thought i'd let you know that ig tickets for the
milwaukee show don't go on sale until next monday, november 1.  someone was
misinformed.  so please, don't call today.  give the poor guy a break.  he
sounded really hassled but still managed to be civil.

what a great show!!!

this was the best concert i have ever attended. i
prepared saturday and sunday by playing ig cds
constantly.

my gf and i arrived at the mitchell center about an
hour early. the venue was great. sound was great. we
sat on the front row of the balcony.

amy introduced three finger cowboy. the crowd seemed
appreciative though not overly so. at least i didn't
hear anyone chanting for ig throughout their songs :p

fashion -
amy: white shirt with blue print, black jeans, blue
suede shoes(?)
emily: blue shirt, black jeans, black shoes.

set list:

go go go
trouble (amy with mandolin)
chickenman (amy mentioned that they were traveling
to austin after last night's show)
galileo (crowd loved it)
sister (amy explained the story of she on her
motorcycle. she said something to the effect
that now you know the story, "the song is not
     as heavy as it seems")
peace tonight
this train
get out the map (emily on banjo)
compromise
andy (emily said, "this songs about a woman in
love with a farmboy who doesn't love her
     back. it's very sad.")
tried to be true
closer to fine
ozaline
love will come to you (surprised by this one!)
faye tucker
least complicated (crowd love this one)
shame on you (emily banjo)

encore:
don't fear the reaper (they were great!)
gone again
galileo (again!)

wzew, a local radio show had a contest and you could
win free tickets for singing one of their songs. just
about everyone sang galileo (may be why ig played the
song twice :p  ).

they didn't seem overly chatty. amy mentioned that the
place was so small she felt like they were playing in
someone's living room.

the crowd seemed fine. i didn't see any problems.
folks were dancing - and i thought that was cool. i
wish i had brought a dat recorder, because it would
have been an incredible boot.

i had a realization though... i've always thought of
myself as an emily person, but found out last night
that i'm an amy person. geeze, this changes things
now! :) i hope you folks in austin have a great time.

lori

hey folks,

here's a slightly old article from mtv online...

the indigo girls-joan osborne connection

fans attending the indigo girls' three-night stand at new york's
beacon theatre earlier this week were treated to a lilith
fair-style hootenanny, as local heroine joan osborne joined the
atlanta duo on stage for a number of songs each night.

osborne appears on four songs on the girls' recently released
album, "come on now social:" "go," "trouble," "we are together"
and the album's first single, "peace tonight." other guests on
the album include sheryl crow, me'shell n'degeocello, luscious
jackson's kate schellenbach, and garth hudson and levon helm of
the band (see "crow, osborne, others join indigo girls for new
album").

the indigo girls and osborne were part of a large group of
artists who traveled to cuba in march to participate in a
musicans exchange program; it was during this time that the
girls invited osborne to sing on their album (see "joan
osborne, chuck d, peter buck to make music with cuban
artists").

the indigo girls' emily sailers told mtv news that it was easy
to decide how to make use of osborne.

"we just thought of a few songs that joan might sound good on,
and, fortunately, she sounded good on all of them," said
sailers. "so we used her for four songs, which is very unusual,
to use a guest vocalist for four songs. but her parts were
subtle, and they just fit right in, and it was just great for
her to do that." [realaudio]

osborne is currently working on her next album, the
long-awaited follow-up to her 1995 breakthrough album,
"relish." to hold fans over until the album is completed,
osborne recorded "baby love" for the recently released "for
love of the game" soundtrack (see "semisonic, joan osborne pen
new tracks for kevin costner film").

a friend of mine has the following tickets available:

thursday 11/4 -   two seats, orchestra, row b -  $45.25 each,  prefer
selling as a pair  (i think that's face value plus ticketmaster charges)

friday 11/5-   two seats, orchestra, row a
               two seats, orchestra, row d
these are all $37.75 each, again prefer to sell in pairs of two, or all
