subject: [ig-news] article from launch.com

hey folks,

this article is from http://www.launch.com...

indigo girl saliers recalls a harrowing halloween

(10/27/99, 10 a.m. pdt) - "i love halloween," says emily
saliers, one half of indigo girls. but it wasn't always
that way for the singer-songwriter. as a child, she
suffered an incident that might put a lot of kids off
halloween for good.

"when i was two years old, my halloween bag got stolen.
it was very traumatic," sailers told launch. "we were
living in the city, and it was a very traumatic
halloween."

"i got mugged as a toddler," she added. "it wasn't very
fun, but halloweens have gotten better after that."

saliers now enjoys the holiday. "my favorite part of
halloween now is giving the candy out to the kids, and
sticking a cassette player out in the bushes out front
that plays spooky music," she said. "i love carving
pumpkins, i love toasting the pumpkin seeds, i love
fall. so, halloween's fun, dressing up...it's like you
get to be a drag queen. it's fun."

this year, the girls won't be home for halloween. the
pair is in the middle of a tour in support of the new
album, come on now social, and are set to play in san
diego on halloween.
