indigo girls are the artist of the week on channel 103.1, which means their
music is going to be played a lot this week. also on thursday, there's going
to be a live in-studio performance at 4:00pm. tune in...

this station is in l.a., but the signal only picks up well on the westside,
south bay and in orange county. very difficult to pick up the farther east
you go.

bruce willis, busboy?

most performers stop waiting tables after their big break. not emily
saliers, one half of the folk rock due the indigo girls and owner of the
trendy new restaurant, wine bar, and gift shop watershed.  the restaurant,
which saliers recently opened outside atlanta with three no-so-famous
friends, has received rave reviews.  business has been so good (insert:
picture of smiling emily in black stripped shirt with silver jewelry, wine
glass, and wine bottle at watershed.) that saliers and company may branch
out to other atlanta neighborhoods.  unlike the boys at the recently
bankrupted planet hollywood, saliers isn't afraid to pour refills, bus
tables, and sweep floors.  "restaurant owners can't be all about glitz and
glamour," she says.  "when they are, their restaurants don't last long."
it's a little too late for bruce and arnald, but it's still a good tip.

[sherlyn's note: this is an edited version of a message which
was originally sent to the indigo girls mailing list at
netspace.org.]

[the opening act] was vonda shepard of all
people. emily came out to introduce her. she did a nice set, but being not
much of a vonda fan i couldn't tell you a whole lot more. [...]
i was so happy that when
the girls came on just about everyone stood up and a good portion of the crowd
stayed standing/dancing through the whole concert. i had these great 4th row
tickets (which were really 3rd since the 1st row was no where to be seen) that
were pretty much right in front of amy. happy sam. fashion report: amy in the
blue shirt with brown flowers, shiny dark blue pants, blue suede boots; emily
in black pants, white shirt, and black blouse; other band members in assorted
halloween costumes. actually, they just had on head bands (kitty ears, a halo,
what was the cello player wearing?) but it was cute. set list:

go
trouble
tried to be true
virginia woolf
gone again
peace tonight
scooter boys
soon be to nothing
three hits
closer to fine
ozilline (i cannot tell you all how much i love this song)
cold beer and punkins (according to the set list)
shed you skin (yes folks, that's emily letting out those incredible wails that
sound more like and instrument than a voice)
get out the map (emily showed off her "kick ass black banjo" and then amy and
emily said many nice things about the dixie chicks)
sister (played instead of compromise since sister was actually requested)
power of two (emily "really fucks up" on the shiny little trinkets part)
shame on you ("i think we were on the same boat back in 1964")
- --
baby don't you break my heart slow (with vonda of course)
faye tucker
galileo

more thoughts from sam...there were jack o' lanters all over the stage and amy
said they'd made them today. they were really neat. no one yelled for galileo
and there really wasn't yelling during those nice quiet parts in the songs.
amy was talking about having a costume contest, and marcy says that amy was
saying something about some woman in a hooters costume in the front. it had
amy and emily luaghing pretty hard. sulli came out with emily's guitar for
galileo and she was dressed in this hilarious costume. she was miss guitar
tech usa or something like that. red frilly dress, curly blond wig, and a sash
proclaiming her title. it was so great. [...] i
did boot the concert (along with several other people who were all listening
to their tapes while leaving the parking lot) and it's pretty good. but please
speak up if there's anyone out there with a really good one (like that ever
happens). [...]

hey folks...

well, if it's the techno versions of shed your skin you're looking for,
there's a couple of choices you have:

1) email me and i can tell you where to get the 12" from for $15 or so.

2) wait a week or so because attack of the killer b-sides volume four is on
its way and will include a couple of these (didn't want to fill the disc
with 30 minutes of remixes, so the other two'll have to wait until volume
five...)

which then begs the question...

who wants to be a branch for the biggest cdr offer to ever hit the list??

even without indicated, i have a total of 7 discs about to be offered and
i'd love people with cd burners to help share them with the list.

it's certainly a large project, and i'm sure not everyone'll want all 7
discs (i'd reccomment just two of them) all the discs will have artwork
included, so it's just a case of copying the discs themselves.

if you've offered before, i've probably lost your email, so please contace
me again :o)

and that's basically it...

peace and love... and lots o' leftover chocolate... mmmm...
