girls mailing list at netspace.org.]

report from 9th row, center. . .

venue (hult center):  incredible building.  state-of-the-art, beautiful
theater.

opener:  the hotties--uh, i mean, the butchies.  completely exceeded my
expectations.  i'm now in love with melissa, the drummer.

interesting fact:  amy had a root canal earlier in the day, but reported
"feeling fine."

fashion report:
amy--stripey/flowery shirt; jeans
emily--blue camouflage pants; white t-shirt; black button down; glittery
eyelid stuff

between-song banter:  mostly about how beautiful they thought eugene was,
and the size of the seaguls.  emily: "fat damn bird" on the river today.

setlist (complete and in order):
go
trouble
chickenman (no soc)
get out the map
kid fears
peace tonight
compromise
love will come to you
ozilline
cold beer & remote control
johnny rotten
closer to fine
shed your skin
airplane (!)
faye tucker
least complicated
shame on you
- --encore--
power of two  (emily started laughing at blair and missed the first line of
the last verse, then continued mid-sentence)
do you wanna touch --w/ the butchies  (awesome rockin' kick-ass jam!)
down by the river --w/ the butchies  (amy played lead!)
galileo

eugene, or vs. eureka, ca:
eugene was a better show, and a better crowd.  the butchies were better than
rose polenzani. but front row at eureka beats 9th row at eugene any day.  oh
to see that sweat and spit up close!

helpful tip:  1) if you're going to drive 12 hours in one day (like i just
did). . .well, um, just don't.  2) when you get home at 5 am from oregon, go
directly to bed; don't turn on the computer (like i just did).

subject: [ig-news] las cruces and world cafe bootleg offers

[sherlyn's note: this message was originally sent to the indigo
girls mailing list at netspace.org.]

hi all,

hope the weekend was good to you.  as promised, here's the details on two,
count 'em two bootleg offers.  with all the new folks on the list and
those who weren't able to hear the girls on their local public radio
station, here's the promised offers

first:

las cruces indigo               8/24/96

this was a bootleg recorded onto dat (digital audio tape) when the girls
played in our little auditorium on the new mexico state university campus.
the crowd size was about 300.  i recorded this boot from second row of
bodies (approx 5 feet from the girls), almost dead center.  it's a pretty
good bootleg, as i'm sure there are some folks on this list who would
vouch for it.  it fits on a 90 min tape.  there's a little bit of talking
at the beginning but not enough to ruin the quality of the songs.  setlist
is as follows.

        least complicated
        hand me downs
        it's alright
        hey kind friend
        get out the map
        tried to be true
        winthrop
don't give that girl a gun
        everything in its own time
bury my heart at wounded knee
        caramia
        chiapas bound
        ghost
        cut it out
        reunion
        galileo

        *encore*
        shame on you
        closer to fine

bootleg offer #2                mountain stage/world cafe

this is a copy of the public radio international programs "mountain stage"
and world cafe, both of which featured the girls in a live studio
performance. these boots are dat copies of the shows that were fed to
public radio stations around the country.  being a public radio employee,
and in charge of recording all the shows my station airs, i had and
continue to have access to such programs, whether we air them or not.  so,
this next boot has the segments on both mountain stage and world cafe
featuring the girls.  here's the set list for both:

mountain stage (43:33)          world cafe (29:33)

get out the map                         gone again
don't give that girl a gun              peace tonight
power of two                            go
everything in it's own time             cold beer and remote control
hey kind friend                         land of canaan
galileo
chickenman
encore
let the good times roll
  (with all the ms guests)
        pri credits

if you care to receive one or both of the boots/dubs, i ask the following:

#1.     you enjoy them

#2      you agree that if you had heard either the mountain stage or world
cafe program on your local public radio station, you would have recorded
it for your personal enjoyment anyway.  by my providing you with a copy of
the mentioned programs, i can put my job in jeopardy.  i ask you to please
not use these dubs for commercial use or profit.

the details:

if you want both or one of the boots/dubs, email me privately and i will
give you all the information needed to get the tapes underway.  i will be
recording all the boots from the master dat, ensuring the best quality and
no generation loss.  both boots/dubs fit on a 90 min. tape.  so, if you
want both, send me two 90 min tapes, preferably maxell gold.  if you
can't, that's alright but if you will be playing them lots, you might want
the extra investment in the maxell's.

in the subject line, please put boot/dub offer

hope that brings some smiles to people's faces today and ya'll have a good
day.

carrie

[sherlyn's note: this message was originally sent to the indigo

my friend tells me that the radio station magic 93.1 in boise is having a
contest to give away ig tickets.

. . . i just find it on the offensive side that they're calling it the
"magic carpet ride" and advertising it with a soundbite from south park.
(cartman saying that he's licked a lot of carpet and doesn't feel like a
lesbian yet.)  apparently they're advertising their melissa etheridge
ticket giveaway the same way.

god, if i were in boise i wouldn't even be trying for that contest.

battle on,
