okay, sorry for the waste of bandwidth. but this is really valid. basically,
yo get paid mone to surf the web. trust me, i've been on it and it pays.
this is how it works. all you do is go to http://alladvantage.com/home.asp
and join. when prompted to give your referral number , please give
"ija-120". it does not cost anything to join. then you download their
service and they put a little bar on the bottom of your screen with
commencials running. for putting up with tis annoying little thing, you get
paid $.50 an hour. does not seem like a lot but it adds up. especially for
crazies like us who have our free online accounts and spend hours checking
our indigo and other email. i would not be posting something like this to
the list if i didn't think it was valid. the money i make on it, goes to pay
for college, my ig "hobby" and to help my roommate jeni pay her huge
hospital bill that she cannot afford. (seriously. her parents don't give her
a penny.)

remember to give the referral number "ija-120".

thanks,
julie ;-)

we're trying to straighten out some tapes that i have, and if anyone was at

just want to thank everyone for replying about the "yearbook video," giving
me a few more bits of info.  as you could tell i am sure, i've never [gulp!]
seen the watershed video, much less the dvd.  so i'm a bit clueless when it
comes to video footage and the girls.  but hopefully that'll change one day.

i hope everyone has a great day.

wow.  this looks like spam to me!  i've been a member of this for quite some
time now, and i've never had the gall to send out email to mailing lists about
it.  i've only ever contacted friends and people whom i know.

btw, what julie isn't telling anyone here is that all her referrals get her
money, too.  $.10/hour for the time that the referrals spend online, and then
the referral levels go four levels deep, with progressively smaller payouts for
the "top" of the pyramid as the base expands.

plus, their mac client, the last i saw, was still in process.

still, it's spam, and i resent having it on our mailing list.

you arent the only one who thinks the person who sent that was out of line.
they should be virtually flogged.  there are lots of us who use that program
and would never think of taking advantage of the list with a spam post like
that.  i hope she hasnt started a trend where everyone now feels its cool to
spam the list soliciting people so they can make a dime.

hey y'all...

ok, so i was on ebay before and i saw window clings up for sale and someone
was paying an extremely high price for one. now, i've decided to offer to
this list some that i've made. these are full color, quality clings which
you can put on your car, on your window, whatever...to keep costs down i
didn't treat them, so they're only for indoor use. okay, here are the design
descriptions:

1)i'm listening to the
    indigo girls

2) melbourne wrecking crew

3) a+e=ig

4) indigo girls (in rainbow color, hehe)

5) i "love" amy & emily
(the love will be a red heart)

i'm working on a t-shirt with the melbourne wrecking crew design with
"courting some disaster" on the back which may be available depending on
demand. and also one with a funky peace/moon graphic that on the front says
indigo girls and on the back says "let's make peace tonight in a good time."

(please keep in mind the window clings are not just plain text, but very
vibrant and pleasing graphics :)

okay, so here's the deal: 3 bucks for one or 2 for $5. sorry, it costs
something to make 'em. it would also cost you a self addressed stamped
envelope. (do not forget the sase)

send responses privately back to me-we'll go from there.

peace tonight,

lyndsay

you saw it here first (unless you're on the rbr list)....

< as if that weren't enough, we're already hard at work preparing for the
long-awaited may 2000 release of 'til we outnumber 'em, a live album
produced
by ani and featuring bruce springsteen, indigo girls, billy bragg, ani
herself, and lotsa other fine folks playing the songs of woody guthrie
during
a 1996 rock & roll hall of fame & museum tribute concert, along with woody's
words read by tim robbins and arlo g. with so many artists involved, it's
taken us a while to get this one released, but it's gonna be worth the wait.
all the profits from the disc will benefit the woody guthrie archives and
the

hey everybody on this list.  i'm just interested in finding someone who goes
to (or who has already gone to even) smith college.  i got accepted yesterday
and i'm pumped up about it, but it would be really cool if i could talk to
someone who is a student.  sorry to the many of you who probably don't really
care at all.  i apologize!  but, thanks a lot anyways!

these are interesting and fun surveys that match your political views up
with the various presidential candidates:

i prefer the first one because it includes candidates not in the major
parties.  here are my results from that one:

score                   candidate
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------
88                      bill bradley (democrat)
81                      albert gore jr. (democrat)
74                      david mcreynolds (socialist)

hi, folks,

i just started playing guitar about a year ago, and i've been working on
some ig tunes.  but i need some help on some of the picking parts.  (i'm
tone deaf--i'll confess it now.)  specifically, i'm looking for these two
things:

(1)  the riff between the first verse and the chorus in strange fire
(played during the last a(9) before the chorus)

and

(2) the exact picking pattern or a full tab for the d/f# - g c part of the
wood song.

can anyone help me out?  i would be most appreciative!!

  many thanks,
margaret

hey everyone,

i left my name and number with the box office at f&m about 2 weeks ago.
they said they'd get back to me about the concert and i figured it was
worth a shot, but that i probably wouldn't haer from them.

well guess what?  they called me!  this is what they said.  the show is
feb 24th.  tickets go on sale to students and the general public at the
same time on feb 14th.  the show is general admission, and is being
held in their gym (yuck, oh well).  they say it's standing room for
everyone, maybe a few bleacher seats farther back.

so, gym or no, my girlfriend and i are going!  yay!

i purchased tickets for the harrisonburg, va show the day they went on sale.
i was told over the phone that i had 11th row seats.  yay!  anyway, i have
not received tickets in the mail yet.  call me paranoid, but i'm worried
that i won't be getting tickets before the show.  has anyone else received
their tickets for this show yet?  anyone who is not paranoid know when i
should be concerned about not having tickets?  : )  another thing is that
the person who sold me the tickets was very confused about what information
was needed from me, which does not calm my fears about not having tickets!!
happy indigo day to everyone!

in norfolk, va.  8pm show is only $9.49 a ticket and is general admission
through ticketmaster.  proceeds go to the samaritan house. they're only
doing will-call for phone orders, so if you're in va, it's best to get them
in person, so you won't get screwed when everyone else is running for a good
spot in front of the stage.  tami hart is opening - anyone know anything

unfortunately, it's my understanding that if you called for tickets,
you got bleacher seats, which may be 11th row, but that's behind the general
admission floor section and those tickets were only available at the walkup
window.  in addition, when i got my tickets, they said they weren't mailing
any, that it would be 'will-call' for phone orders.  so you'll pick up the
tickets when you get there.

tara (who is also pissed at being duped by the phone rep into
thinking she had 4th row.)

so.  you got to hear rose polenzani open for ig.

now.  did you happen see rose play with this
wildly talented guy-on-the-acoustic-mandolin?
(they played together in columbus, but i'm not sure if they did all the
dates.)

aieee.  his name's david 'goody' goodrich and he blows my mind.
can i tell you how i adore the man?
i adore the man.

please allow me a little plug.
he's released an album.  ohh heaven release us.
it's called failure of the doping summit; it's basically improv-based
electric and acoustic incredulosity.  gorgeous atmospheric ethereal stuff.

quoth some random promo person:
"the album moves through a varying aural landscape, which is characteristic
of goody's distinctively intuitive and evocative sound. an essentially jazz
adventure, failure is influenced by ethnic strains of african, blues, and
surrealist traditions. it is moody, eerie, joyous, dark. it is cinephonic
vibe."

love it
covet
eat it with a spoon.

sound clippage and ordering info are yours at

or you can float $17 cheque or money order ($15 + $2 shipping & handling) to

personaally,  i  think  pushing the needle too far  is one of the best
songs .  i  love  the way
amy's  using counter point   (is that  what's that's called?  when an
artist  takes two or more related melodies  and weaves them together?
anyone?  oh well.)   i  love all the symbolism,  and  the

colleen was one of those people that made you glad she was in the world. she
glowed with a love for this life and shared so much of herself with her
friends and family.  she was to marry her longtime beau monte donaldson to
continue what can only be described as a fairytale romance.

i first met colleen when i was contracting at microsoft.  she was hired into
our group to work as a graphics designer and boy, was i glad to see her
since i often felt that doing graphics was something far above my realm of
expertise.  but colleen wasn't the kind to simply pick up the slack.
instead, she took the time to teach me what i needed to know to feel
confident in my job. her patience was astounding, always leading me to
believe she'd make one great mother.

i can still see her with her wild hair and quirky smile walking the halls of
microsoft. and if something was troubling someone, she'd say "oh dear".
sounds so trite here but the way she said it made you believe she was
commiserating with your problem of the day. if nothing else, that "oh dear"
would put a smile on your face. but colleen wasn't the type of person to see
only problems. she found solutions.

she had so many friends from all walks of life because she looked beyond
labels to see the person. the world could have stood to learn alot from her
in this regard.

this woman was so full of talent. she was among the few hired on from our
group to fulltime status at microsoft as an art director and had just
received another promotion. she showed us her portfolio that she used when
being interviewed for the job and it included the work she did for nwaf for
a safe-sex campaign. we had a good laugh about that because our supervisor
at the time was a rather devoted catholic.

but perhaps the greatest sadness i feel for such a beautiful person being
lost to the world is the loss of love between colleen and monte who was with
her when the plane crashed. most people dream about finding that kind of
love. alot of people never believed that kind of love really existed until
they met the two of them.

colleen died with her fiance on alaska airlines flight
#261 which crashed monday off the coast of california. something like this
forces one to believe there is some sort of hereafter where colleen and
monte live on because the pain of thinking their love is just snuffed out
forever is too painful for any of us to bear.

those of us at stanhope (nj, last summer) never thought that there should be

newport folk festival - news
we, at festival productions, inc., are happy and excited to announce the
dates of the newport folk festival 2000, to be held at fort adams state park
and the hotel viking on august 4, 5 & 6.  we are currently working on our
musical programs and look forward to our best year yet.  prior to the folk
alliance conference, we would like to inform our friends and supporters
about some important developments in the structure of the festival.  last
month, we received word from ben & jerry's homemade, inc., that they will no
longer be sponsoring our event.  they have decided to pursue other marketing
opportunities.
ben, jerry, and their team have worked with us for more than ten years, and
have been a great support of the festival and the music.  naturally, we are
sorry to end our relationship with their company, but we wish them the best
of luck in their future endeavors. jerry greenfield, (co-founder of ben &
jerry's) has recently written to us about his experience with festival
productions and the newport folk festival.  "the music has always been the
centerpiece, and i believe that is what really makes the folk festival
unique.  your team has been successful at bringing in exciting new talent
along with great musicians who are the big drawing cards, which produces the
mix and diversity of music to create the newport experience. it is the
ability to build on the amazing history and heritage of the festival which
makes the festival what it is."
we are grateful to have had such a fruitful association with ben & jerry's,
but feel confident that the newport folk festival will remain a joyful
meeting place of tradition and new talent.  we are committed to continuing
with the festival in this new millennium, and look forward to what the
future brings.  this year's event will the first weekend of august, and we
will be posting ideas and news on our website at www.newportfolk.com  (as
well as highlights from the 1999 festival weekend).  on behalf of festival
productions, and the folk festival's many other sponsors- among them ascap,
wbos, wfuv, teva, mindspring, green mountain coffee, and more-we would like
to thank all of you for your continued support of our event.

for those of you looking for directions the best i can do at this point is
what's on my web site

http:/www.mindspring.com/~armydillo

look for the ig concert link

the listmeet details are there too under the same link

the gates open at 2pm
2 opening acts take the stage starting at 4pm
ig shows up about 8pm (or later who knows cannot get a firm commitment on
this)

there will be street closures in downtown

i am not sure when they will be starting and since the parade starts at 1
ish they will likely close down the parade route about then

so plan on getting into downtown before 1pm so that you can park close to
the venue.  parking will be a nightmare no doubt so good luck.  there are
two main garages and some street parking near the cold storage (garages:
the tampa convention center and ft. harrison garage (i think)).  if you look
at the map on my page you will see that the parade route wraps around the
venue so until the parade ends you will have a hard time crossing the street
once it starts.

ticket holders need to go to the franklin street entrance (this is where i
will be starting around 7am) look for the chick with the bright yellow
fleece pullover (either on my body or around my waist depending on the
weather) near the front of the line.  if i have your ticket please be at the
venue by 1pm.

if you don't have tix yet go to the tampa street entrance

check back on my site daily until saturday morning as i will be posting
updated details and maps as soon as i can find out when they will be closing
streets to traffic.

and if anyone else has better up to date info please share

over and out,
nancy

i  must admitt  i didn't like very much  of the stuff on cons  until  i
heard  it  live when they
came.  now  i  like trouble and ozilene ,   and
sister.  i especially  like  that for once when they  use  spoken word
(as on ozilene)  y
you can actually hear  what they are saying.

most of the time  (before cons)  you really had to listen for that,  but
(except on oziene)   now
you   can  hardly hear  the spoken word at all.

anyways   i still have  trouble with  "go",  it just doesn't speak to
me, sure it's a good dance tune for a show.  but  this activist  here
doesn't consider herself too young or too okl  to  be ivolved on
projects that affect us all.    so i don't get very much out of  "go"
and i wish that  amy had  left that one alone  as problem child.

don't  get me wrong, go  rocks all the way,  the
words  don't speak  to me.

a dance tune? hmmm...i hate dancing, but i love the song. i hope they release

i  know  what  amy is sayng...society says i'm too young to protest, and
too old ,   i would go so far as to say  that  in this society ingeneral
says "it's wrong  to protest.  it's an embarrassment, it's not
respectable, and it's unsafe, just look at what those cops wil do.
don't  do it>"

i  said to  all that,  " idon't care.  this  is my country too.  i don't

true to my word

what  really encouraes me  in music  is humor.
i get so bogged down sometimes,  i just have to stand back and laugh,
and crack fun  at cops
for questionable tactics  that keep people like me doown.

at our  state capitol they tell us we can't use
their sound system, because it's too loud,  but they say nothing about
us bringing our own sound system.   oh we go through the system too, we
draw up bills,  we testify in huge numbers of  50  to sometimes  over
100.  to try and kill  negative legislation,  and?or pass our own
bills..  so i'm not above that.   but  we have
to keep coming together  as people.  whether the session is in or not.

amy and emily  have been a part  of all  that  with their own activism,

i  am honorred that they seem to like minneapolis really well .  ( they
seem to choose minneapols a lot  for their political projects.)  it
opens us  further.

since the decision in favor of gay & lesbians in vermont has been reached,
the governor's office in vermont has been flooded with phone calls from gay
rights opponents.  this action has been initiated by dr laura (who is she?)
show.  she apparently gave out the governor's number.  i phoned last week
and spoke with the secretary.  she was friendly but said that i was only
among a very few of people calling to express support.

i'm not sure if any of you are aware of the pressure they're getting.  not

decision can stick.  if any of you know if anything being done that i can

no, i don't know that much about dr. laura, but i do know this - she's in
out magazine this month in their hall of shame or something like that - ten
people who have done a lot (or try to anyway) to set the gay/human rights
movement back a few zillion years.

and a few weeks ago i was scanning through the radio stations and came
across her show.  i was completely appalled by her answer to one man's
question (and i turned the channel after hearing that one q&a).  fine, it's
her opinion and all, but she spoke to the man like he was just not capable
of making his own decisions for himself and his family.  i know, he called
for her advice, but she shoved her opinion down his throat with so much
force and attitude that i was just stunned.

dr laura schlessinger is just one of many reactionary talk show hosts vying
for the opportunity to be the next rush limbaugh.  most are the creation of
various programming directors seeking to wrench advertising dollars from the
lowest common denominators: fear and hatred...unfortunately, as the
woodstock generation has turned into the winnebago generation, these
slimeballs are spreading their poison all over the radio dial...the
so-called religious programming on international shortwave radio is even
more odious...

as pete townshend once said, "i hope i die before i get old..."  (in mental
attitude)

the negative campaign could have a positive end...  vermonters are
notoriously stubborn about being dictated to by outsiders...

tim

just go somewhere like www.metacrawler.com and do a search on

a sampling of some of the more 'interesting' ones:

dr. laura's inappropriate poses - celebrity erotica - 10/29/98
nude photos of dr. laura and where to find them, from your
about.com guide

(neil says: i saw some talk show (maury?) a while back. in the
late '70s, while married, dr. l had an affair with an older man
and he took some, er, very private photos, which he sold a year
or so ago... trouble with being a moral leader is that your
skeletons are liable to reappear...)

dr. laura drinking game
turn on the radio, pour a beverage and take a drink whenever dr.
laura mentions such things as religion, her step-children or her
husband.

gotta love dr. l.

dr. laura is scary
dr. laura sure loves her knife... if it's not being used on baby
boys (promoting circumcision), it's sure to be used on animals
(promoting kosher slaughter). the following is a

it should also be noted that "doctor" laura simply has a doctorate in
physiology, not psychology. she should have a doctorate in hypocrisy, since
she is such an expert in that.

i was home in vermont in dec/jan, and they stressed that this was a vermont issue to be decided by vermonters, so they weren't going to be persuaded either way by out of state lobbying.  so, it can't hurt, but i'm not sure how much it will help.

hey y'all.
thanks for the tips on seeing the letters on the websites. haven't visited
the site in awhile. :) but as much as i love just reading what they have to
say and knowing that they took the time to write handwritten letters, does
this mean the end of regular mail mailings from the fan club? i know it
hasn't been the most reliable, but it's still fun to get a real tangible
piece of paper in the mail. c'mon, you know it is. sometimes email and
websites tend to feel distant and fake, to me anyway.
peace,
becky

ps-thanks for the responses to my chicago questions!

actually, she has been more popular than limbaugh for some time now.

she's also on the cover of the current advocate, which features and
mailed-in interview with the conservative talk show host in which she makes
her opinions on gay issues quite plain.  i was glad it brought to the fore
the more moderate position she held before she converted to orthodox
judaism; i actually rather enjoyed her show before it got popular (almost
10 years ago) and she turned up the rhetoric.

i saw them at the boathouse on the "map" demo tour, and i can understand...
that was the worst venue i've ever been to.  it was *sweltering*, the crowd
was noisy (especially bad through michelle malone's set) and rude and
drunken... yeah, i do mean to generalize, it was not a few isolated
people.  i even remembering mm remarking about it, though i don't recall
the exact comments.  i have no idea why ig would return, i know i won't.

oh, and underage fans won't get near the stage because there's a fence
around it and the bar area which is designated the beer garden (unless
something has changed).  you'll have to stand off to the side.

heidi,

you definitely weren't the only one. i thought the letter was great! i'm
excited that amy and emily are using this site to reach out to their fans in
a much more real way than they did through the epic site.

love, warm fuzzies and skipping heartbeats,

hi everyone. i go to emory and work at the library. i shelve books. so when
i passed the old yearbooks section we all know what happened. i pushed the
books and carts aside, pulled out the 1986 "memory" and started flipping
through it. well, i didn't like the people that went here to begin with, but
now i'm really mad. the pages that used to contain amy have been torn out.
i'm so disappointed in my fellow fans. especially considering. you can make
a photocopy. you can make a really high quality scan downstairs!!! don't
even have to take the book out of the library.  just go, scan it or
something. you know that page is floating around ebay somewhere. sad, sad,
sad. just sharing my growing disappointment in many fellow emorites.

(also, if there are any emory students here, i'm bored so i'm creating an
indigo girls conference on learnlink. email me and i'll get back to you as
soon as the system administrator gets back to me.)

love,
julie ;-)

noooo i hope you're kidding!  i love that song!  i love the original
version, and i heard madonna's version for the first time a couple days
ago and i thought it was great!  she tailored it so well with her new
style.  i was quite impressed with how well she did covered it.  if she
left out verses (which i didn't notice her doing, but i probably just
missed it), it's probably cause that song is really long, and it doesn't
fit the normal radio length for songs.  okay, sorry for the nigc, but felt
i had to defend madonna...just this once...hehe.

that was different at the suffragette sessions - they changed it to
reward the non-drinkers, and not the other way around.  and yeah, the crowd
does tend to get really rowdy.  i'm sure there will be a lot of "i love you
amy!" screamers, however, you can't pick a better venue that rewards you
with front row just for being there early, and you only end up about 6 feet
from the girls, which is very cool, even if the crowd is not.  plus, every
time i've been to see them at the boathouse, it's been *real* easy to talk
to them after the shows, as they walk to their bus.  after suffragette,
*everyone* on the tour signed autographs, and back in '90, it was the venue
where i got to meet them the first time and emily spent a good 10 minutes
with me teaching me crazy game... ahhh those were the days (before fear set
in i guess - and before some fans went really nuts and got scary).  so,
anyhow, yeah the crowd is bad, but go there early and you won't have to look
at 'em because nobody will be in front of you.  :)

first of all i would like to thank all of you who responded to that, and i

second, i would like to apologize to the list for posting such an off topic
and potentially upsetting subject.  there is obviously nothing anyone can do,
and i know this is not the proper forum for this kind of thing.  to clarify a
bit further, and at the risk of letting everyone know how really messed up i
am, i do have a therapist and psychiatrist and medication, etc. and i talk to
these people at least twice a week, at ucla, and they are very good. the
chief danger i see is of cutting them out of the loop, which i am trying not
to do. sorry for the long post. the only reason i posted about this in the
first place i think is the important role the music of indigo girls has
played in my still being on the planet.
thank you who ever is listening

basically, here's the deal -- there's going to be a random drawing at
some location in rochester (dunno yet where...), and if the 94.1 djs draw
your number, you have the opportunity to buy one or two ig tickets for
$150 a pop.  it's going to be an "exclusive" show, no more than 50 people,
supposedly, and all proceeds are going to the ronald mcdonald house.

well, y'all can count me out, cause $150 is just waaaaaay too
much, even if i have yet to see ig solo.  :(

however, if anything's happening in rochester, i'd love to meet up with
other ig geeks...i'll be at fiona apple, live @ suny brockport, and susan
tedeschi (front row!!!!) concerts.

i was driving through the lovely, powdery, falling-like-tendrils snow on my
way home.  listening to the peabody boot (cleveland, oh) 1989, the "prince
of darkness" came up, and suddenly these words hit me:

maybe there's no haven in this world for tender age
my heart beat like the wings of wild birds in a cage
my greatest hope my greatest cause to grieve
and my heart flew from its cage and it bled upon my sleeve
oh the cries of passion were like wounds that needed healing
i couldn't hear them for the thunder
i was half the naked distance between hell and heavens ceiling
and he almost pulled me under
-emily saliers, "indigo girls"

especially the part where amy sings "were like wounds that needed healing, i
couldn't hear them for the thunder", then emily sings "and he almost pulled
me under"--i just about burst into tears!  remembering how desperate times
are when we call out to anyone or anything; hoping for that healing.  even
at 58 years old, one of my patients feel as lost as this verse.

hey y'all...
two days ago, my cat of 9 years died. it was a really sad day for me
since i had found him as a stray when he was only a couple of weeks old and
nursed him back to health. anyway, he had stomach cancer and the other day he
just sort of keeled over. i took him to the vet and the whole time there i
just knew he was going to die (it was not pretty, by that point, and fairly
obvious that this was "talbot's" last day on this earth). i got to the vets
and they took him away from me and told me they'd call me that evening. well,
he had to be put down that night, but when the vet called she asked if i
wanted to come say goodbye, so off i went. it was a very trying experience.
anyway, on the way back home from the vet after it was all over and he was
gone, as i was sobbing hysterically, this great radio station we have hear in
denver began playing a really familiar song and it turned out to be amy's
"secure yourself" (which they never play!). i remembered reading that amy
actually wrote that song for her cat who had died and it was an amazing
source of comfort for me at that moment. i guess the girls came through
again, huh? well, just my little tale. hope it wasn't too long. take it easy
y'all, and thanks for listening.

have no idea how incredible tracy is live!!! she literally blew amy and
emily away at guinness fleadh in 98. i'm not the only person whoi agrees

flora, you go to brown, right? you were also looking for a way to get to the
uconn q&a - cathy s. has some amtrak info -

oh my god - indigo girls, csny2k, (which i'd part with to see tracy if it
conflicts) great big sea in boston st. patrick's day (the avalon folks, that
show is going to blow minds - gbs is awesome - ig fans would love them!!!)
and in nyc the next day...

and tracy...

i am kinda glad i skipped ani in nyc - anyone else know other tracy dates

i didn't say i was going to do anything with the information. it is just
interesting to think about the possibilities...i also wanted to get the
thoughts of list members. thank you for yours.  of course, i think something
like this is like abortion, in a way.  her words are refuted by intelligence
and common sense. that will not deter her and her ilk in any way.  i am not
saying return ignorant hatred in kind. however, i fail to see the down side
to bringing the consequences of her actions home to her.  polite

hi y'all. i haven't listen to nis for a while till now and i forgot how much
i love this recording. this is, afterall, the first ig cd i came across in
the public library and what got me into ig. i love amy's passion in welcome
me and reaper of my heart, emily's gentleness in southland and you and me and
the 10000 wars. and i can even hear amy's early attempt at hard rock in 123.

imho, ig did put out better studio cd after nis. but even though nis is not
our most favorite ig cd, all ig cds are very good, especially compared to
most other artist out there.

getting ready to go work out,

i've stated before my observations about ig having a pattern in their albums of
"try out a style on one cd, perfect that style on the second cd, try out a new
style, etc."...

well, ever since i first heard it on the day of its release, nis has been my
favorite ig cd.  it was the second cd in the first of those 2-album cycles, and
for me, it truly epitomizes everything that drew me to ig in the first place.
lyrics that speak to my soul... harmonies that are not only fun to listen to,
but are fun to sing, and that can still bring tears to my eyes...  songs that
express a full gamut of things, from observing the world outside oneself, to
exploring one's inner self.

i've liked all their releases to date, but nis remains a true companion, being
one of those few 20 or so cds in my collection of hundreds that i come back to
time and time again. it has provided the soundtrack for moments of exquisite
bliss, and has played the part of wise therapist during times of great distress.

i may revisit older ig cds, but i'm never very far away from my copy of nis.

-graham

two words: woo hoo!

oh - from the same article - amazon.com has two songs on their site now ( in
liquid audio - fear not - mp3's will be made soon)and cdnow has an
unreleased track when you buy the album from there. (yeah , like *i'm going
to wait more than when the borders by where i work opens up*)

napster stuff - rare ig tunes?? umm. okay - i found nothing (but i did d/l
some intense tracy c stuff i never heard!)

myranne pyra - (kidfears@tezcat.com - last addy i had) i need to contact her
for something that may pan out to be an emily fan's dream - if you have her
addy of if you're reading this: i need to talk to you!

wish i could find my nff 98 cdr (grr, see a clean apartment only makes the
intelligent go more and more insane...)

but calling her home is nothing but harassment, may be against the law and
how are you effecting change - it's simply intruding on her personal lives.

to harrass a major talk show host in her home only brings you down to her
level - if not lower - and shes said stuff that is anti - disabled as well -
would you want her prank calling you because you are gay or pro choice? i
agree her views are not my views - but, after hearing horror stories from
people who are considered celebrities - it's very very uncool to bother any
celebrity at their house - especially if you are harassing them.

just my .02 cents...

they are out there. i have about ten pre-epic songs i put out on naster
every time i'm on. my screen name is "indigonut".  i'm on every evening
after six (often way more than that). here's the problem with napster.  it
has many different servers so you can be on at the same time and not see one
another. my advice. disconnect and reconnect until you see me. if you have
aol instant messenger, look me up and im me.

good luck

as far as napster is concerned i have found a serious amount of "rare" ig
stuff.... from lifeblood, the untitled song, finlandia...and (lol!) wild,
wild party in the loquat tree....just to name a *few* of the gems i
found..... the trick is to be persistant..keep searching..lots of folks out
there have the stuff in mp3 format...it is just a matter of them signing onto
napster....
(and of course i would never try to sell this stuff...but for my personal
enjotment...woo hoo!! )

i  love nis too,  let me see here.........southland in the spring time
is the first  time i heard  ig  on public radio (believe it or not), the
morning show on ksjn w/dale connelly and jim ed poole.  i jus happened
to be taping.

as for  being risky?  i don't know,  the girls  did
say  that  it was risky  during an interview played  in  watershed.   i
wonder what it was they fiound so risky about it.  maybe perhaps it's
the idea of two women doing an album of
folkrock.....hmmmm.......an album that's kind of hard  to
label....that's not all one style.

they also said, "but it's not like we're  doing rap. (they laugh.)  two
white women.(emily)....that would be really risky"(amy )."

anyway.  that's my two cents.

hi everyone!

i just discovered something marvelous and more efficient than the many
servers of napster. mp3s can be shared though aol instant messenger. i had
known this before but forgot. im me and i'll be more than happy to share.
unfortunately, you can only transfer with one person at a time, so i may
have to get back to you.

julie ;-)

aol instant messenger = <julielibes>

p.s. "raespage13" i'm so sorry we were cut off. my roommate was on my
computer talking to somebody. she was typing without looking at the screen,
hitting the "cancel" button without realizing it. im me again.

artner=3dmindspring&refid=3dzyqoms=3defnnnnfn.zms
includes the lines "at tuesday night's televised hearing, one man argued =

re dr. laura: i was listening last year as i passed through atlanta and =

here's an idea for those of you with aol or aol im - i managed to get my four
tickets this way.  it's somewhat risky, but worth a shot - i searched
profiles for "university of chicago" people who were online and talked to
them, i met a cool guy who teaches about native american issues there and he
was more than happy to grab me the four he could (4 ticket limit, don't bug
john low if you catch him on) in exchange for their actual cost, and i'm
sending him an honor cd in thanks.  it is a move that involves some risk, who
knows for sure if i'll actually get the tickets, but it's a risk i'm willing
to take for the chance to see them!  just an idea for those of you
road-tripping to chicago for the hob concert or basically anyone in the area.
by the way, how was the recent ig concert for those of you who went?

adieu,
lisa

one word cold
bitter cold to be exact and i have a sunburn/windburn to prove it as well as
chapped hands and lips and face (ow!!!) but all was worth it for the hours
or so that the girls played
it was obvious that they were cold.

ok here's the rundown

the opening acts were ok just played reallllllyyyyyyy long sets (2-2.5 hours
each) but hey it was to be expected with the first group safka taking the
stage at 4:00 and dreamtime taking the stage at 6:30.  ig started at 9:15
and the set list is out there since lisa's friend leslie got it from one of
the stage hands.  sulli threw my ex a couple of pics afterwards too so she
was happy as a clam after she got warm again.

ok what they played and this is not in order(and my memory isn't that great
right now)
closer to fine
go
power of two
southland in the springtime
least complicated
peace tonight
chickenman
galileo
get out the map
oziline
kid fears
compromise
shame on you

and that is where my memory goes kaput (i think i got 'em all tho)
they played a short set
amy was shaking her hands (in pain i'm sure) to try to warm them up
and emily just kept trying to warm hers with her breath

a fight broke out behind lisa (yee fuckin' haw!!) <--- to quote emily
and there was no security in the "pit" between us and the stage except for
one gomer sheriff officer who was about as bright as my pinky toe

the crowd was rowdy and drunk (yee fuckin' haw again)
but they calmed down a tad bit when ig took the stage and golly gee there
was actually no heckling from the crowd

not a whole lotta chit chat
and since the radio station down here rarely plays ig stuff (and they have
been this past week) i was really happy to see such a large turn out for
this (approx. 7000 i think) and i was really happy to see the expression on
chris white's (local "i like to make fun of homos and my cohost dj calls
them the indignant girls since she can't get an interview" morning dj) face.
he was in total shock that there were this many people that liked ig (duh!).

it was great meeting everyone: amy, leslie, lisa, joan, the two from seattle
(i can't remember your names sorry) and joan's local friend heather and her
group of friends.  it was nice to have such a short line waiting to get in
(the above listed are all that were there when the gates opened which was
pretty cool 'cause for once i was front and center for the show (yay!!)

that's all for now,

nancy

ps- heather davis:  i was even in front of the two chicks that snuck
backstage in atlanta (remember them?)  and advanced happy 21st.

or could someone in datona beach record it for jude???

(see jude, you even have people advocating for you to get good recordings)
mike r.

just don't ask me - i suck when  it actually involves mailing things
(though, for my defense, i have been burning some treats that no one else
has (but given the quality, that might be justified - hmmm. yep, those
journalism interview tape recorders are sooooo great to record once in a

so, when jude gets the stuff i want to trade her (say in 2003, ) she'll be
happy...

hey y'all...

first off, i want to say a very heartfelt thank you to everyone who wrote
me offering their sympathy after talbot's death. he will always be greatly
missed, but your letters helped a lot (as did the music of our two lovely
ladies). thanks again, and all my love to those of you who also relayed your
own experiences with a beloved pet's passing. i'm sure they are all in an
extremely beautiful place.
second, i just got accepted to emory for this upcoming fall semester and
i know i've read posts from emory students on this list. i would love to hear
from some of you (please don't feel obligated; i know that you're busy) who
either go to emory or just live in the surrounding area. i visited the campus
once and fell head-over-heels in love with both the university and atlanta,
but i'm still pretty clueless about my soon-to-be home. anyway, if any of you
have the time/energy to write, i would be forever grateful. thank you, thank
you, thank you. hope everyone out there has a great week! take it easy.

hi everyone,

i think nancy got the set list pretty much right, but here's the correct
order for the tampa show (gasparilla drunken street fest, as i might call it
from now on) on saturday evening.

closer to fine
go
peace tonight
i don't wanna know (with guest sandy garfinkle on harmonica)
power of two (w/sg)
ozilline
least complicated
chickenman (w/sg)
southland in the springtime (w/sg)
compromise
get out the map
kid fears
galileo

encore:
shame on you (w/sg)

there was a slot left open for another encore song before soy, but i think
they were too cold, and they were concerned about us being so cold.   it had
to hurt to play those guitars with numb fingers.   and i always marvel how
you can end up with sunburn *and* frostbite within a few hours...........

drunken fights - far too many.   security - totally non-existant, as told to
us, after we tried to get help for someone in a wheelchair.   so, basically
the organizers sold $1.50 beers all day to 5000-6000 people in an itty-bitty
parking lot, and didn't think that there might be problems with drunkenness,
so they didn't think to hire any security.
hmmmm.................................

there is one more thing i'd like to point out, especially after this
weekend.........

there seems to be a bit of confusion about the two "meme's" on the list.
there are two people using versions of this name now.    mine is
memememi@aol.com, hers is mememi@excite.com.  i've had mine for a little over
four years now, and my name is lisa.  the other person's name is julie.  i
don't know how long she's had hers.  the difference is:   i'm on aol, and
she's on excite.    i'm not in college, and i try really hard to post only
relevant-music-oriented (if not strictly ig) content to the list.  she is in
college, and she calls herself a spammer (i know she's saying that tongue in
cheek).  but several people got us confused, and i really needed to say
something.

so to recap:
lisa dupre - memememi@aol.com - not in college
julie libes - mememi@excite.com - in college

i've been meaning to say something ever since julie's appeared on the list,
but i didn't think it was a problem, until this weekend, when several people
had a problem with me until i straightened them out about the two different
screen names.

thank you nancy, joan and lesley.   especially thank you lesley for holding
back the drunks.   and hi out to julie & mel!   it was great to see you
again!!   thank you too, for getting you-know-who away from me.   it was
*much* appreciated!!!!   i hope you had a better time in daytona =)

yee fuckin' haw (thank you emily as well)
=)
lisa

i thought the tampa show was really great - amy and emily both seemed in good
spirits despite the weather.

the only thing is the fans.  why do people throw stuff at them?  was it the
drunkenness???  that totally sucked.  people shouldnt throw stuff on stage -
the performers really hate that...even if it is *beads*.  maybe they weren't
thinking that it might annoy them, but it was obvoius to me that it was pissing
them off.  i feel bad about it.  i think it made them frustrated...esp. after
amy was like "ok...thanks guys" like three times.

ah well.  mayeb they are used to it by now - maybe it goes withy the job?

who knows.
but it was a fun show and i was really glad i was in town for it.  and hey
$5!!!!  woo!

hey y'all.  just a little note to say that you guys have been getting pretty
jiggy with these bootleg requests, and i have about 80 requests in queue,
which means, approximately 200 discs in line to be made.  just want y'all to
know that they're going as quickly as possible, and i'm doing them in
batches of the same thing.  so you might get shades right away, but it could
be 2 months before you get early recordings or whatever.  so, just a request
for patience, because this is going to take me a while.

hey y'all,

i don't know - is touchiness common in office equipment? i'm working as
an administration junior now, so photocopying is basically my lifeblood
- and i swear the thing decides to start playing up at a whim : like
"hmmmmm ---- i think i'll just pay havoc with the feeder now!", or "hey
- why don't i mess up the insides of the machinery!!!!!". there's no
real pattern to it - the thing has got to have a personality....

i'm excited about leaving tomorrow....wish me luck on the road...if anyone

say a little prayer for those suicidal squirrels to stay off the road!

going to sleep now to get an early start for manana....

yeah, i was kind of expecting to see a lot more security around since
there was sooo much alcohol in one place, but didn't. i imagine mose
security agencies had their hands full that night.

anyway, after the flight from hell on friday night (i left albany at 5
and didn't get into tampa until 3 am.) and stuff to do with my brother and
bil during the day we made it down to cold storage around 7ish
and waited around for ig.  it was cold, but having come from upstate ny,
it wasn't that bad for me.

i don't think i've ever been so squishy in my life!  we ended up being
pushed right dead center about 10 rows of bodies back.  i didn't clap
during the entire show because we were jammed so close together. and i
gave up on booting since the girl in front of me was quite drunk and very
off-key.  then again, so was i, but i digress...;)

re: bead throwing: it was kind of uncool to have people throwing things.
i don't think i'd want to be pelted with shiny plastic things while
i'm trying to sing/play.  the girl in front of me threw the turquoise ones
that amy put on her mike stand.  i must admit tho, i expected more people
to be throwing them.

amy and emily both looked *good*.  and em sounded better than ever, on the
guitar and on vocals.  i was really impressed.

i know a lot of the crowd was drunk/agitated, but the women around us were
really cool. :)  they were a lot of fun, and that made it an awkward at
best situation excellent for me.

going by cold storage this morning was amazing.  you'd never know there
was a concert there by the looks of things.

i know there were video cameras and other people booting there, so if you
got a decent one, please e-mail me.  i'd love a copy!
