isn't there someone named "indigonut" on this list? maybe i'm just
wrong. of course, you can be anything you want - nobody owns the name.
but if your intent was to go by a new name no one had to avoid
confusion . . .

i'm really sorry if there is. i have simply switched
email accounts because the other one was down half the
time and because lisa and i were being confused. my
main reason however was to get a more convinient email
service.

if there is another "indigonut" out there, i'm sorry.
hard as i try, i just can't please everyone.

hi y'all. been listening to the early recordings. (thanks tara!) is it just
me, or the song life's so strange, penned by emily, is about her love for a
girl? (ameila?) but i thought she's not comfortable about expressing her
sexuality until much later? just wondering.

on dan fogelberg, and love his music... it also has a lot of other songs
that look good on it.  if anyone has this boot and would be willing to
make me a copy, please, please let me know! i don't have a lot to trade,
but i can be creative, and i will soon have a cd-r drive, so i can

mime-version: 1.0

i have a new kitten!!!! yay for life. now.. i gotta name her.

she's wonderful.. an itty bitty tiny white kitten with dark grey stripe
markings on her back and face. heeeeeeeelp.. gotta name her.

i thought about ozziline.. which i thought would be ok.. but she's so tiny..
doesn't seem right for her.. i thought about peace... but she's kind of
rowdy.. anyone have suggestions??

once i had a cat named easter.. ala "crucify" by tori amos. i've thought
about that name, too.. this kitty is so joyful and light, though that she
needs a light name. and i'm enough of an indigo freak to want to name her
after some indigo song.

now.. for those who did not know, after we did not purchase the piano,
several people still wanted to do a fundraiser for hte. currently, i have
collected approximately $1400.00 in pledges, not counting my own. as the
checks appeared to have stopped coming, i will be sending in everyone's
checks on friday or saturday. if you have not pledged, but would still like
to donate to hte, let me know offlist, and i'll send you the po box address.
if you have been meaning to send in your pledge, but haven't, please let me
know.

that's everything..

thanks carla ! i'm so glad you posted about the tickets. i just called
ticket%$#^ (hate them) and got two tickets. i'm thrilled to be going but
jeez !!! these idiots just kill you in surcharges. tickets are 22 bucks each
but my total came to 70.50 for two tickets after they tacked on all the
extra charges!!!! the guy said the tickets came to a total of 29.00 each
plus a 5.00 each "convenience" charge. the girls (especially acoustic) are
worth it but the price these monsters charge is outrageous! unfortunately, i
live 2 hours from the college and there is no way i could get there until
the weekend to pick them up in person. by then they may be gone. oh well,
i'm looking forward to seeing them and living like a church mouse for the
next week since i've now busted my budget!

social justice action

vermont needs help...
as you may know, the supreme court of vermont recently ruled that committed
homosexual relationships should have the same rights and privileges afforded
to married straight couples.  there are over 1,000 rights that come with
marriage which are currently denied to gay couples including hospital
visitation/medical decisions, rights of survivorship, filing joint tax
returns, etc. etc.

this is a very important first step towards equality in america.  however,
the
governor's office of vermont has been bombarded with phone calls by anti-gay
individuals opposing the recent decision -- primarily fueled by the "doctor"
laura radio program which gave out the phone number.

i called the governor's office, and spoke to the secretary, who was very
nice
but said that i was one of only a handful of callers who support this huge
step towards equal rights.

please add your name to the following list.  copy this into a new e-mail,
and
send it to your friends.  when the list reaches 25 people, please send it to

dear lieutenant governor - douglas a. racine,

we the undersigned deeply support your move to have equal rights for same
sex
partners.
you have taken a historical step towards mending the many fractures that
divide our

as has been stated before, vermont does not appreciate outsider's views on
this issue, whether pro or anti. the best thing to do is help a marriage
rights group in vermont, thereby avoiding the stigma of being labeled a
meddling outsider.

not to mention the fact that chain letters for any reason are strictly
verboten on this list.

hmmmm, i always thought emily was singing "emilia," a
variation of emily (or is it the other way around?).
so i always thought of emilia as being her alter ego,
or another part of her self, so when emilia is right
beside her she's whole, complete.  although that idea
of it being "amelia", perhaps amelia earhart, would be
interesting considering the next line, "next thing i
know, i taste the salt of the sea."  perhaps a plane
crash in the ocean?  (is this another fear of motion
song?)

did anyone happen to tape the star 95.7 fm radio broadcast of the show in
tampa (the gasparilla drunken street fest) on saturday?    apparently they
have been playing cuts from it on the radio station all week.   or do you
know if they plan on rebroadcasting it?

if you have a copy and are willing to trade, i have tons to trade, or i can
do the blank & sase.  there is someone special asking me for a copy of it and
it would mean a lot to him to get a copy.    i'd like to see if i could help

thanks so much!

mime-version: 1.0
content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

hey everyone!
finally some aussie coverage of the upcoming tour!  this was in the
courier mail sat feb 5...

indigo mix a bright palette  by noel mengel

easy-rolling bass, plunking mandolin, a wistul and familiar organ
undertow:
despite amy ray's spakling vocals and the act that gone again is a song
set in australia, you just know the influence of the band has to be in
there somewhere.
by the time a tell-tale wurlitzer organ lifts up a notch for a solo that
has woodstock and big pink written all over it, it is obvious that the
band is more than just an influence on this song from the indigo girls'
latest album, come on now social (epic).
and so it proves. that is garth hudson on the organ and, sadly it must
have been one of his last recordings with his long-time band-mate rick
danko, who passed away in december.
although hudson plays on only one other track, the spirit of the band and
that great trail of music which passed down tot hem from european folk
through the american backroads has clearly been an inspiration.
the indigo girls, emily saliers and amy ray, followed their muse to
woodstock, the arty community in the catskills mountains of new york,
where they spent a week jamming with hudson and danko and planting the
seeds for these songs.
despite making some fine albums in the '90's, the indigo girls are one of
those acts that people love more in concert than they do on record.  see
them live and you can see why, as they pour heart and sould into a show
packed with favourites, surprise covers, soaring harmonies and spirited
playing.  it is a tough task to capture that in the confines of the studio
but they have come as close as they ever have to bottling the genie on
come on now social.
it is a varied collection, confidently swinging from the hardest rock
songs they have ever recorded to rootsy items like gone again, celtic
inspired folk and the finger-clicking soul-pop of peace tonight.
as well as danko and hudson, the album contains guest appearances from the
likes of sheryl cros, joan osborne, me'shell ndegeocello and luscious
jackson's kate schellenbach, but it remains firmly the indigo girl's show.
"we have always played with different people," saliers says.  "when we
first started playing we would get somebody local to get up with us and on
the lilith fair tour we met all these talented women who we had looked up
to for a long time.  we still love making music with people, it's just
that now they are more famous."
but the key to the album's seamless mix of styles is the producer and
drummer john reynolds, one of a core of english players they met when they
were backing sinead o'connor on the lilith fair tour in 1998.
saliers says: "that celtic element came from ireland and scotland and
filtered into the appalachian mountains where it took on it's own american
vibe.  it all feels the same to us."
you can detect reynold's passion for world music on faye tucker, a
haunting folk ballad about karla faye tucker who, in 1998, became the
first woman executed in texas since the civil war.
"there was a big uproar about the case," saliers says. "she was white, she
was pretty and she was a born-again christian, so there was this mi of all
these groups around the issue.  but the song is saying, in the end,
couldn't we have had some compassion? why did we have to be so cruel?"
the song builds with a hypnotic celtic accordion jig and table percussion
before exploding into an arabic chant from guest vocalist natacha atlas.
the missing link between sinead and the indigo girls?  you just found it.
reynolds, a long time collaborator with o'connor, played a strong role in
this mix of ethnic syles, but it was also his influence which brought the
strong al green/memphis feel to peace tonight.
these songs contrast with the electric guitar grooves of go and
comprimise.
"my voice is softer than amy's and even if i feel all the rage in the
world i may not be able to emote it," saliers says. "electric guitar is a
good avenue for me to get out some of that aggression.
"amy and i are often at oppoosite ends of the spectrum.  she will want to
do a stripped-down acoustic album when i might want all electric.  that's
what's so great aobut working iwth her, that we find our way around these
differences in such a natural way."

wow didn't think it would take me that long to type!  my poor fingers!
lol

now that i've got your attention with a strange subject line, here's my
"pained little bleat" (a.k.a. selfish and hopeful plea, i'm not usually one

ticket!!!   i just found out that the guy who was buying me tickets was only
able to get two of the three i need.  here's the sob story:  i'm a fifteen
year old high-school kid in minnesota.  besides finding the ticket guy, along
this path to indigo bliss i have convinced two of my licensed friends that
chicago is a worthy roadtrip; along with extracting permission from my
parents, finding a hotel room, route planning, siteseeing, getting a car...
the list goes on :o).  so i'm just sitting here in dismay, as i don't think
tying myself to a friend and trying to get in on one ticket as conjoined
twins is going to work.  if anyone can help me or offer suggestions, i would
be eternally indebted and think of some creative way to repay your kindness
(and yes, i talked to the guy who offered to the list - in the four minutes
between his posting and my reading it, someone beat me to the punch :op).
thanks for listening, over and out.

uh, yeah, whatever.

despite their folky image (perpetuated by music critics who never bother

their musical careers, and perhaps even

most recently, ms. ray has been advocating for the lpfm movement. this

if you go here you can get a program called total recorder for $12 that will
let you record the concert as a wav file to your hard drive.  obviously this
will take a lot of space, so somebody with all those 15-gig harddrives,
we'll be counting on you.

i will be out of town.  will someone please please do this.  you will need
the latest version of windows media player:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/default.asp

then after you've got these two programs, you'll need to go here:

http://www.broadcast.com/radio/alternative/wssr/ (click on the 'yahoo
broadcast' box)

or
http://adserver.yahoo.com/a?f=78018474&l=g&p=broadcast&site-attribute=brid=5
621&c=
this should get it directly.

anyhow - you'll need to read over the overview for "total recorder" but it's
not hard, just make sure you get the highest quality your computer can
handle (ie stereo, cd quality).

if someone can get this (i'll be out of town dammit), then i'll be ever so
happy to master it, put it on cd, do art, and offer it to the list.

any takers?  act quickly - i'm leaving tomorrow at noon.

please!!!!

the following is from an interview with roger waters of pink floyd.  this is
why i am glad the girls still have that intimate connection to their
audience....
<< how do you feel about the early 1970's live shows of pink floyd.  they
are now considered by many pink floyd fans as the best of your entire
career because you guys were obviously playing as a tight unit.

(rw)yeah, i think that's a fair comment.
you know, it's what i talk about often.  i talk about how the magic of
those early days was overwhelmed by the weight of numbers as we became
more and more popular and thus we played bigger and bigger venues and
it became less and less about those magical moments of communication
between musicians and an audience and less and less about that and
more and more about money and numbers and ego and all of that. >>

i work at a bookstore (although definitely not barnes

are in and out all of the time.  there are definitely
the fair share of customers who come in asking for her
books, but thankfully there are also quite a few who
come in to trade in her books because his/her friend
should have known better than to give him/her dr.
laura books.  the silliest of her books is the one she
wrote with her son, check it out, it will make you
cringe, but it's worth a good laugh too

okay, i'm changing the subject. no more dr you know who and i'm going to do like my mother does concerning the matter "if i ignore it, it will go away" :p

out of boredom, i was browsing through sites and came across the chartreuse girls web site. i've been immortalized twice and totally forgot about it. i'll never tell who i am, but daaaaamn....it's like looking at a picture of yourself in a compromising situation and going "whoops! that was pretty stupid" but that's just my experience that was put to verse...
it's so much funnier looking from the outside in though, so if y'all want a good laugh, go there.

i'm wondering where the heck claire's "when i was a squirrel" (dar williams, "when i was a boy") went to!

anyway, here it is: http://members.xoom.com/creechal/parodies.htm

throughout time, there have been classic duos: lenny and squiggy, cagney and
lacey, hall and oates. the indigo girls are no exception. their pristine and luminary
vocal harmonies alone make crowds hoot and holler. each song has a totally different
energy and tension. with their more lighthearted and witty songs, emily saliers and amy
ray play off each other like a comedic duo. other times, their songwriting and
arrangements are so clever, you would think that the two fight crime on the side. their
musical relationship takes on many turns, loops, and jumps. saliers' musical roots dig
deep into joni mitchell's gentle song soil, while ray's influences stem from a much harder
background of                         influences, including the pretenders and the husker
dude, bob mould.

sweet!  thanks for the heads-up, keeshan!

genghis cohen's a really cool listening venue--i got the chance to hear a
friend's band play there last friday night.  (buddha girl.  they rocked.)
and yes, it is quite small, a church-like setting.  very intimate indeed,
and very cool.  fills up fast, too . . .

i'll definitely be looking into this.  (and asap!)  always wanted to see
michelle malone play live.  sounds like it'll be an acoustic set, since
genghis cohen's pretty much all acoustic . . . no arguments here.  :)

hello to all and by way of introduction to the
group...
i had a chance to see michelle malone perform in
concert about 8 months or so ago here in north
carolina. at the time, i had never heard of her and
was totally blown away by her performance. it was in a
little lesbian club and there couldn't have been more
than 50 people in the joint. she was just amazing what
with playing the guitar, singing and playing the
harmonica all within the same song.
it really was a rare treat to run across a dynamic
performer in a small club setting. i look forward to
catching her shows in the future. this time i'll know
what i'm in for.

a board feed would primarily pic up sound from the mic, as the crowd wasn't
miced - they really don't seem too loud - there is some echo- type thing on
em's vocals, but, mygod - this show sounds so very very very good - one of
the best 99-00 shows hands down!

i may review this tape - (soon to be cdr sent to tara lane - jude and neil -
you'll get your own!) as it is truly a unique show (when was the last  time
sandy played with ig? 94???

and windows media player sounds much better than most realaudio (tho i
prefer realaudio)

san francisco examiner, february 2, 2000
supervisors plan to aid illegal gays
rachel gordon of the examiner staff
'city of refuge' would shield relationships of citizens and aliens
san francisco's elected leaders plan to create a "city of refuge" for
undocumented residents who are in same-sex relationships with u.s. citizens.
the proposed law, which is headed for approval at the board of
supervisors next week, would bar city workers from actively aiding federal
immigration authorities in deportation efforts involving a citizen's
homosexual partner who is in the country illegally.
on a symbolic level, the idea is to confer the same status to gay couples
that married couples have.
foreign-born married partners of u.s. citizens have a much easier time
attaining the legal right to live in the united states because their
marriages are legally recognized. it is unlawful for gays and lesbians to
marry in this country.
"our immigration laws confer rights and privileges on heterosexual
couples that same-gender couples are denied," said supervisor leslie katz,
chief sponsor of the legislation that has the backing of all 10 of her
colleagues.
"the fundamental principle of immigration law is family unification," she
added. "same-sex, bi-national couples in loving, committed, stable
relationships, suddenly find their relationships torn apart by finding that
their relationships, in essence, are unlawful. as a result, every day lesbian
and gay couples are having their lives shattered."
tuesday, several gays and lesbians told that story to the board's housing
and social policy committee.
    left when visa expired
one man, antonio, who only would give his first name, is a u.s. citizen
whose partner of 11 years is mexican and had to leave the united states last
month when his work visa expired.
"next month is our 12th anniversary, but we will be forced to celebrate
it separately, on opposite sides of the mexican border," antonio said.
he said his partner "could have, of course, chosen to simply stay, but an
illegal status was never an option for him. and even with visas, (my partner)
does not want to live a life where he has all the responsibilities but not
all of the rights of a citizen."
while antonio could move to mexico, he said his job options would be
limited. so for now, he said, he has decided to live apart from his partner.
"if u.s. law were equal for all, we wouldn't be facing these
heart-wrenching decisions," he said.
thirteen nations, among them australia, denmark and south africa,
recognize the rights of their citizens to sponsor same-sex partners for
immigration, katz said.
congress would need to act to make that u.s. policy as well. katz said
rep jerrold nadler, d-n.y., intended to introduce legislation to that effect
later this month.
san francisco already has a "city of refuge" ordinance on the books. that
law, adopted in 1989, originally forbade city employees from participating
with the immigration and naturalization service in deporting those who were
in the country illegally.
but in 1993, the law was amended when state authorities threatened to cut
off more than $4 million in criminal justice grants. now, law enforcement
agencies can alert the ins when a person arrested on a felony charge is
suspected to be in the united states illegally. the sheriff's department,
which runs the jails, can do the same when the suspected felon is set to be
released from custody.
katz said the intent of her law for gay and lesbian couples was not meant
to thwart those existing law enforcement policies, but to keep city
employees, such as social and health care workers, from actively contacting
the ins.
    ins declines comment
local ins spokeswoman sharon rummery said city employees, particularly
those in law enforcement, occasionally aided the ins. she declined comment on
katz's resolution, noting that any policy change would have to come from
congress.
kate kendell, executive director of the national center for lesbian
rights, said as far as she knew, the proposed san francisco law would be a
first in the nation, and a good first step in pushing for a change in federal
policy.
"this gives us, as attorneys representing gay and lesbian couples in this
situation, one more arrow in our quiver to say this is what the city did,
this is what it stands for, this is the humanitarian policy that we want you
to have, a policy that is pro-family and pro-relationship," she said.

hey, what does everyone think about the response i got to my request for
people to come support the cause of violence against women by being a part
of a woman friendly, life-affirming experience? (it's at the very bottom, i
beg you to read it before deleting)

by the way, i've cut the george carlin quote from my sig line as not to
offend and in the hopes that that was the profanity made reference to as
oppossed to the biological body part which every woman has and men are
going to have to get used to our talking about. this is the very purpose of
the 'v-day monologues,' to raise awareness, as eve ensler, its author says,
''they have tried to censor the word everywhere 'the ______monologues' has
traveled. 'why is this,' i ask. it is not a pornographic word, it's
actually a medical word... it's an invisible word, a word that stirs up
anxiety, awkwardness, i say it because what we don't say becomes a secret,
i say it because i want to someday feel comfortable saying it and not
ashamed and guilty."
i won't use up any more space on this list talking about this, i just
thought everyone should be aware of the responce which i received. (if you
want to read my direct response to mr. mendryk, e-mail me privately.)

(there are exceptions 'in the public interest')

these particular discussions should stay private

1) no flaming on the list!  jeez!  i thought the days of petty nastiness

2) posted reply to a private message.  downright rude.  someone is nasty to

i hope not to see any further posts on this particular topic to the list.

not everyone is aware of that.

first and foremost i am back to my normal adult self now.  well reasonably
normal anyway.  just one thing to say and then i am done with that nasty
subject of language:  i hate censorship with a passion.

now.  the tampa radio boot.  i listened to the tape last nigt and it is
excellent.  tara if you still need it let me know and i will send it up to
you for the cd.  all others give me until monday night to get back to you.
if you decide between now and then to take tara up on her cdr rather than my
tape or someone else's for that matter please let me know.

thanks y'all,

against women is a good  subject  that is very important, there are ways

i'm sending my cdr to tara - (monday's mail - just finally woke up)
i'm really pressed up for trades (i still owe people) so i can't trade
individually (and half the issue is that i never get to my po box, so, bear
with me folks) i was thinking if there was a secure placeb (somebody's
server???) where i could post these (soon to be) mp3's.

i am not a big fan of tara's pledge, but, if you get yours from her - it
still applies, i will not tolerate anyone selling this boot that i am
putting to cdr. amy and emily have explicitly stated they do not want their
boots being sold, especially cds.  so still no selling on ebay or like - you
will have negative ratings faster  than you'll ever know.

and a. - if you have server space - let me know - i'm probably looking for a
ftp site with login password (nothing against napster, just don't want any
generous person who can store this getting flooded with requests, also -
before i let the addy out - i want a email that you won't sell it )

i could do real audio as well...

i've got  to burn the cd.

peace-
mike r.

i wanted to thank nancy for posting that message to the list.  i live in
madison, and will try to make the show.  i have been wanting to catch it.

on the topic of profanity: are you kidding that it offends you when
womens genetalia are the title of theatrical performances - and honestly
expect that the title be censored for the purposes of not offending your
morale.
when the body parts of women and men can become a topic of everyday life,
without hesitation - it is then that, perhaps, people will cease to be
assaulted on the basis of getting sexually pleased, or feeding some ill
fix, some curiosity.
do we edit popular names like "dick clark" - a man i know, "dick seaman"
- creativity coined "the vagina monologues" (notice all capitals - it's a
proper noun)?...  get used to it; please don't be so hyper sensitive;
accept it as a part of life; to shun or ignore it gets us no further in
our attempts for sexual acceptance and human pride.

i realize i probably should not have been made aware of a private post,
but because i have i cannot simply not say anything.

specific guidleline pertaining to the use of profanity on this list.

it was omitted, and has never been needed, because a general rule of all
public listservs is no profanity.

of course, the larger problem is defining just what profanity might
be...and on a list as diverse as ours, this would not a simple thing to
define.

so i'm asking the listserv as a whole to respect other people's
boundaries and simply do not post things that might be viewed as
profanity or offensive.

remember this is a listserv to discuss the indigo girls...a duo who
happens to talk about a wide varity of things without the need to use
profanity or other offensive terminology.

however, if this is an issue we continue to trouble with, then i will
add a non-profanity guideline to the faq.

couple of other things while i have the floor:

1. do not posts flames to the list.  it usually leads to a lot of
excessive and not-so-nice postings.

2. do not post private email to the list.

thank you.

enjoy the rest of the weekend.

dear all,

if anyone is keen to hear about a similar law (actually its been law for
almost 15 years) in australia - under the family reunion policy, then please
drop me a line and i can give further information. it has never been widely
publicised, which helps immeasurably in quotas, it means it has at times
been technically easier to get into aus if your partner is same sex than if
they are not.

anyone who would get offended over *that* usage of the word vagina is seriously
puritanical.

i mean, really.

funny how one little word can upset so many.  i wonder why that is.  i, for
one, would hardly consider the word vagina obscene.

i don't find any words obscene, although their usage might indicate attitudes held
by the user with which i do not agree.

i was a little taken aback, though, to receive items from the ig list which didn't
seem to take into account that there are penis-bearing members of this mailing
list as well.

well...i am just getting back from the jmu ig concert. at since at this moment....there has been
no news about the concert....(and i am tired of all the e-mails about "profanity", i thought i
would attempt to bring some ig into the list discussion).
yeah!!! accoustic---is best! the concert was good...i won't say anything about the
butchies because i know nothing about them. the girls didn't come out 'til forty minutes after
the bs left the stage (seemed like forever!)....they were great and really talkative (amy said
that they are working on it so that they can be more like pros). amy was sporting a cowboy hat
and a shirt over a t-shirt...and em was wearing some flowery shirt. the set list was really
varied, but they did play a lot of new stuff...including johnny rotten. my set list (at the end)
is not all the way in order....sorry!
stuff they talked about:
amy mentioned how warm it was in georgia (they flew to washington today)....(it snowed here last
night). anyway, someone shouted that they should go to fla...and em piped in that they just got
back from there and that it was freezing, but that they played for a lot of drunk people, so the
fans didn't care about the temperature....but, as em put it, they were "stone cold sober".
after they sang gone again amy explained that she thought the song lost a lot without a full
band and that when she first wrote it in a hotel room she thought it was incredible (kind of
like how you think you sound awesome in the shower...but you don't in real life). later she
realized how much it sounded like elton john's crocodile rock, and then she proceeded to play
some of it his song----and explained that when they first started out they covered this song and
instead of susie they always sang sammy....to please the cowboys in the small clubs they played
in.
an amp (?) blew during ghost. right before the last verse (?). they lost all sound on their
guitars....em explained and went on to sing a cappella....but the guitars came back on.
they also mentioned that they are re-learning watershed...for those of you who are dying to
hear it.
amy messed up the whistling in closer to fine....
um....oh, one other thing....before the encore they came out and taped a message to congress (or
one of the subcommittees) about low power fm radio. they had us cheer and stuff to show our
support. amy looked a little embarassed to do it, but they couldn't make the meeting because
they will be in connecticut (concert).
i am sure i am missing lots....plus i probably saw it from a different angle then someone else,
so please join in and add stuff.....
have a good night, meg

set list (some what in order---but i am almost positive i got all the songs)

ok...well i have good news and bad...the bad news is that the interview fell
through :o(...but i did get to go backstage and meet them before the
show..(which is what took up some of the 40 min people waited)..they were
doing and interview for something else ..and i dont know what..  a fellow
listee and i had press passes and we got a station id from them...:::which i
think i taped over:::...they were very nice and signed a lot of stuff for us.
the concert kicked ass...i had 2nd row on the floor which is the closest i
have ever been...and it was awesome...they were in a very good mood the whole
show, until the the ghost incident.  what i think happened was that sulli
accidently kicked a cord out of the floor.  and then put it back in again.
amy and sulli were laughing at this...but i think emily was kinda pissed.
they got it back together again though..so all was good.  there encore
started with that video to congress and it was awesome.  amy like briefed us
before hand saying something like "ok now we need help and you all have to be
loud.  we are going to make this video for congress so we can show them how
important this is.  so be really into it".:::::this was very loosly
quoted:::::, so like after everything they said the whole place screamed.
amy was giggling every time we did..which was really cute.  and i got a copy
of what they said.  it was taped to their speakers? in front of them..and
when the tec came by and ripped them off of the speakers he laid them right
in front of the stage.. so this really tall girl who stood in front of me the
whole time, but was kind enough to bend down occasionally so that i could
take pics...put her height to use and leaned over and grabbed them for me.
:o)...so that was cool...during the closer "kid fears"...emily was having
problems with her guitar sound or something cause she kept turning to the
sound board and like yelling at the guys there...she looked really pissed...
i dont know what was wrong, it sounded fine.  as she was leaving stage she
seemed to be giving them a bunch of shit.  she seemed really mad.  so when
they left the guys she yelled at came out and like sound checked the
mike....duh..too late now.  you have already pisssed her off.  anyway...all
in all the show kicked ass...it was soo good. i have never seen just the two
of them before and i must say...i liked it.  the previous post was correct in
the attire the girls were wearing....and if i can say it amy looked soo damn
sexy in that hat?...am i wrong?...ok now for the set list (in the correct
order).

peace tonight

what is relevant & what is not (to our own post) is a matter of opinion.
what one may find acceptable to post from another's private email may be
totally unacceptable to another.  it's a very simple rule: one does not post
private email.  period.

<<i don't see any reason why sarah shouldn't fight back against someone

and why not just ignore such idle threats?  they go away a lot faster that
way.  instead, here we are, perpetuating and calling greater attention to it.

i agree that it's okay to post it, but anonymously.
his message was the important part, telling his name
and email to the list was unnecessary.

i'm not expressing a personal opinion on this topic, but our list faq may not
say anything about posting profanity, but it does have something to say about
forwarding private email to the list:

(from the faq)

10) do not forward private email to the list
a long-standing rule of internet etiquette is that private emails
should not be forwarded to public forums without the author's
explicit permission.  this means that if someone sends you a private
message that you wish to share with the list you should ask the
author first.  note that this also includes flame emails, which
should be dealt with privately rather than forwarded to the list.

hey...

i just found the very rare indigo girls' wood song promo for $5 or so at:
http://neil.gemm.com
i believe there are still copies available. they also had reverse-1 for $20,
but i think that's gone. www.netsounds.com is another similar, good website:

i created a webpage with these links on as well as money off coupons for
cdnow:
http://www.andineil.com/music

on a related note. somehow i got a hold of the www.indigogirls.org domain.
the website there at the moment is just my regular ig page, but i plan to
make the homepage a one-stop ig heaven type thing. or at least, sensible
links to important ig resourses.

anyway, with this comes email @indigogirls.org
i'm thinking of giving people the opportunity to get their own email address
@indigogirls.org (redirected to their current email) if they sign up with
x.com through this link:
https://www.x.com/new_account.asp?referrer=neil@andineil.com
if you take two minutes to sign up they give you $20 free and i get a
referral fee. more details of the transaction here:
http://www.andineil.com/indigo_girls/email.html

i'm contemplating donating any profits i make from this to an ig charity. (i
expect that it will be possible for people to transfer their $20 to me for
this purpose also). but this is a notoriously anti-most-good-intentions
list, so i thought i'd run it by y'all first. please email me off list with
any _constructive_ comments you may have.

and hey, if you just want to use the link up there to sign up for a free
$20, then don't let me stop you :o)
(if you've ever gotten one of my boots it's an excellent way to say thankyou
while making a profit for youself!)

webpage up yet (but when they put one up, it'll be 100% female musicians).
but, they've got a lot of great stuff that's pretty hard to find.. if you

live (supposedly previously unreleased, but i don't know if that's true).
if anyone is interested in either copy, let me know.  one has color
cover art and a picture of ig in the info and the other has b&w

than $5 or so but i'd be interested in boot offers, too.

would like to say hi to anybody out there that remembers me from the old irc
chat room i was know as pinny and before it fell by the wayside i went as
ladihawk i believe.

is there still a room out there for indigo girl fans? would appreciate
someone letting me know.  i can't believe how the www has changed in just a
few years since i was in grad school in 95.

well, anyway, thanks to the owners for keeping the list going and its good to
see i haven't missed the debates and flair ups that existed when i was a

name, and lots include quotes.  any form is acceptable.  similarly, if you

privately and i will update.  do not forget to include your b-day if you
are in the add/change/delete category...i really don't want to sift
through hundreds of entries to find yours.  thanks :)

that includes this week...i'll just send out belated wishes!

be well!

yeah, those piano guys can put on a show.  i saw barry manilow back in 1985 on
his paradise cafe tour...  4 and a half hours of incredible music, he brought
the audience to tears twice, made a crowd of 13,500 feel like he was giving a
private living room show to good friends, and simply did the most amazing
concert i've ever seen, before or since.

kinda scary when, out of the hundreds of live shows i've seen, barry manilow is
the top of the heap.

i saw the v-monologues today - notice i said "v", lest i be scathingly
and soundly flamed to a crisp and denounced a perpetuator of the
profane.  the theatre group at northeastern u. put it on and sold
tickets to it for 5 bucks.  they even sold chocolate, molded v******s on
a stick - all proceeds going to benefit shelters and other domestic
violence programs. it was well worth seeing - parts were hysterical, but
mostly it was poingnantly sad, as most of the subject matter was highly
emotionally charged.  do see it if it comes around near you.

i just thought the monologuyes urged women to empower themselves by
taking back the "v" word, and embracing that part of themselves that
really is the essence of being a woman.  the really sad parts involved
each woman's stories of abuse - sexual abuse, and the
shame/fear/misguided and false information and attitudes about the
a woman's particular part of her anatomy.  it was really interesting -
one fact that was cited was that in 1948 (or therearound), the
last documented clitoral (the "cl" word, not to be confused with the
"cu" word) circumcision was performed on a five year old girl.  this
method had been used on women in the u.s. as a means to "cure"
masturbation. alarming, isn't it?  this tidbit was followed by the
statement that no male ever got his penis removed for
masturbation.  nervous laughter and disgusted gasps filled the
theatre.  anyone else who saw the "v" monologues care to elaborate on
their experience?

wordplay intentional?  you're funny.
