hey kind friends,
i just wanted to let you all know that she strikes again.  she sent me
an instant message regarding my profile ( i mention emily saliers) and she
claimed to be the other half of the duo.
i checked with karen and it is indeed the very same person.   i let her
know that no one is falling for it, but i was wondering is there anything we
can do, would aol care if we reported it?
any feed back would be great, thanks

just thought i'd share a little something:  i had a dream last
night in which i found a tape by a "famous" (i.e. not a
real-life person here, but famous for my dream's world) person
who was loved by pretty much everyone.  on it, was a classical
piece which he wrote was based on the indigo girls.  i didn't
get to hear this piece, because i got distracted by someone in
the dream.  teehee.

hey everyone,

i was just playing power of 2 along with the cd and it sounded seriously
wrong. now, i'm almost positive i've done this before and if i have, i'm
sure it didn't sound nearly as weird as it did this time. so, i played
around with it and it sounded better with the capo on the 6th fret, rather
than the 5th. but, it still didn't sound quite right. has anyone else
noticed this or am i just wacky?

thanks in advance,
amy m.

this is my first thing on the mailing list so i hope i'm not doing anything
wrong.
well, i'm a fairly new ig fan (2years), but unfortunately have never seen
them live (someday they will ask me to play a show with them though...i
wish).  i was wondering if anyone has any bootlegs they would like to share
with me.  the only thing that i have that i could trade are a few dave
mattews shows, they are very good quality, and feature bela fleck guests for
a few songs on the banjo.  if nobody wants these, then i could just mail
some cdr's and pay postage both ways, all you'll have to do is burn them.
i've heard about one called "indigo originals" and i would kind of like to
get my hands on that, but i would also really like to get a complete show or
two, preferably dao (broken into tracks, but no pauses in between tracks so
you can listen to the whole concert all the way through). 1200 curfews is
the closest that i have come to seeing them live and i just wanted to get a
little closer by getting some bootlegs.  if you have "indigo originals" or
any complete show of decent quality (i'd rather hear amy and emily than the
audience, though i hope i'm not sounding too picky) please let me know and
help me out.  since i don't really have much to offer maybe i can help you
find some boots of other bands or something.

                                                 thanks a ton,

subject:      11/28 - emory show
mime-version: 1.0
content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

hkf's,

since it doesn't seem like many listees made it to the
emory show (you had to be a student - or at least knew
one like me) i'll be glad to give y'all my little
summary.

first off, setlist from sulli: (she said normally no
one gets 'her' setlist b/c it had her notes on it -
but maybe i was just lucky!)

galileo
go
get out the map
devotion
philosophy of loss
faye tucker
closer to fine
(a&e answered questions)
least complicated*

* lc was after all the questions and wasn't on the
setlist - a&e had a little meeting after all the
questions/answers and decided to play one extra.  deja
vu for the centennial park show.

setlist notes: the first song was originally written
as gotm and crossed out w/ galileo written above it.
same thing for the third song w/ galileo crossed out
and 'map' written above it.

show notes: great short setlist imho.  go is always
great & hearing devotion live is just plain awesome!
(leaving is still a great song - but it's amy!!!)
philosphy of loss (1st time live for moi) was a
powerful song to hear live - emily did it solo and it
was amazing.  the pa systems went out right b4 faye
tucker and there was also some annoying feedback in
the beginning - kind of took a little power from the
song but it ended strong as it always does & with me
screaming along of course...

so my one question - since emily got a solo, where was
point hope or romeo & juliet or powderfinger!!!  i was
so ready for an amy solo but i guess they had a strict
(sort of) schedule.

question/answer notes:  about 8 or so questions from
(mostly) students about various general sexuality or
musical issues & some emory specific questions as
well.  one was where did you live at emory?  and amy
mentioned harris dorm and some apartments - emily
mentioned a yellow apt across from the law bldg or
something.  funny question, they asked what kind of
art's outlets did you have available at emory - and
emily said we just played in bars.  amy then went on
about places they played on campus, even outside here
& there - "we played everywhere" and finally after
mentioning a bunch of places amy said: "well, we're
mainly just a bar band".  so they definitely agreed on
that.  and then a bunch of questions about sexuality
and how they had to deal with being out at emory and
was it difficult.  emily said she wasn't really sure
of it all and wasn't really coming out until the end
of her college career - while amy mentioned how
vanderbilt was a terrible place in regards to
open-ness and such (suprise to hear that ;) - and then
at emory way back when it really wasn't discussed at
all and it wasn't really an issue.  she said she still
had the same uga girlfriend and had supportive
teachers i think - but her last remark was that things
have changed a real lot since she went to college and
it's just amazing with all the organizations on
campuses.  emily mentioned emory had one of the first
offices/organizations for gay/lesbian/bi folk.  i
think that's what she said...  and they also answered
favorite influences and such (amy: neil young and
other 'indie bands', emily: joni mitchell and also
queen latifah and a few others i can't think of)

so short show but a great little setlist and a kind of
laid back vibe that went along w/ the bandless-girls.
fun was had by all.  =)

hey gang -

i was just on our local radio station this morning to share my coming
out story... sort of. they were talking about kids who come out to
parents and have many troubles. well, i went through that stage, ("we'd
rather you were in prison - it would bring the family less shame...")
but lately things are turning around. so i shared my story, about my
mom getting more accepting and sending me this picture book that says,
"i'll still love you, no matter what..." and it made two of the radio
personalities cry! on the air! so then the guy said to the girl, "don't
go all indigo girl on me!"

and i kind of don't understand the reference, because he was saying it
because she was crying, but it was still funny...

anyhow, if any of you were listing to alice radio this morning in the
bay area, that was me.

just wanted to share -

love,
amy

actually, i have a kind of funny story...a friend of mine had tickets to the
emory show (and invited me, though i couldn't go b/c of a dress rehearsal
for a theatre performance), and i a good friend of mine from atlanta to go
meet her there to see the show.
well, my friend from atlanta didn't see the friend with the tickets, so she
basically stood around while people took tickets (being sad that she
couldn't go in).
ok, so at about 8:30, the ticket takers said they were closing the doors and
nobody could go in after that. they closed the doors and walked away, and
she tried a door and it was open :)
so she got to see the girls and tell me all about it. yay for the little
breaks that make life fun.

ok, hope nobody minded my story.

the emory show was awesome.  thanksfully i knew the
right people and got to sit in the vip seats at the
front.  i saw a listee there with the melbourne
wrecking co. shirt, but didn't get a chance to find
him after the show.  and my boot was ruined by the
very rude woman behind me saying mean things all
night.  she kept trying to tell me she was a fan too.
i told her to lighten up and enjoy herself instead of
nitpicking because other people were enthusiastic.

and for the nigc.  are there any wake forest listees
out there (or someone who lives in winston-salem) that
might lend me a section of their floor to sleep on the
night of thursday the 7th?  i'm coming up to go to the
wake forest/kansas basketball game and would love to
save on the cost of a hotel if possible.  references
upon request:)

thanks,

hey all,

well, once again there is someone on ebay selling, what we know you can get
for free.  i know someone said how to report these, but could ya'll refresh
my memory.  also, what do you think about sending russell carter something
about this?  if that is an idiotic thing to suggest, just say so, i am just
throwing out ideas.  it is just so frustrating, these poor people can have
these for free!!!  i was going to warn the bidders, but conveniently every
one of these auctions is listed as a private auction so that you cannot see
who the bidders are.  here are the ig items the seller has right now.  maybe
those of us who are ebay members could all email the seller and bombard her
with complaints, maybe it would show her that ig fans aren't putting up with
this.

you know, it's particularly sad. i tried to tell a guy who was forking over hundreds of
dollars for tickets to a show that he might want to try the list and i got back a snotty
reply suggesting i was just mad he could bid more than i could... uh... i wasn't even
bidding and i live in an entirely different region of the country... what a stupid head

sigh. some people's kids.

i was at the emory show as well...i did my graduate work here and then ended
up working for emory, go figure....we had reserved vip seats on the fourth
row and i am so glad we did! although i felt bad for all the folks that had
to stand in line only to realize that they couldn't get any closer than
about 15 rows back (it was all reserved as vip).

there are a few things that i would add to your review:
the funniest thing to me was when a student asked them about their arts
outlet here, emily and amy had to converse about what they were going to
say! finally, it was emily who responded by saying "we were a bar band". it
was too funny!

i also loved the way emily responded to the folks who were leaving after the
music part by saying "for those of you who need to leave, could you please
hold the conversation down to, um, zero" and the little guesture she made
was a riot. i think she may have been a little irritated. of course i would
be too!

i thought that they recovered from the sound problems at the beginning of
faye tucker pretty well. amy ripped it up at the end and i was on the edge
of my seat the whole time. good stuff. and of course i always enjoy hearing
an acoustic go.

lots of other funny stuff too....did anyone boot the show??

peace, jennifer

i've known pamela ryder for about 5 years and i certainly agree with your
assessment of her talent.  i had the pleasure of playing lead guitar on
'california song' and blues harp on 'charmed and harmed' on her soulryder
cd.

unfortunately, i haven't seen pamela since august, so i can't offer any
current info, but there are mp3s of three of her songs on the site i created
for her at mp3.com http://www.mp3.com/pamelaryder

i have one unopened copy of soulryder in my possession for $10 + $2
postage - i'm pretty sure that i can get more from pamela if the need
arises....

it's cool to see friends getting recognition outside the buffalo/wny
area....

peace,
tim
