[sherlyn's note: this message was originally sent to the indigo
girls mailing list at netspace.org.]

i just got off the phone with a woman at the reynold's club at the
university of chicago, which will be the site of the feb. 26 indigo girls
show.

she was very nice and told me they hadn't set a date for tickets to go on
sale yet, but it would likely be at the end of this month rather than the
first of feb. ( i heard the canton, ny tickets go on sale to students 1/31
and that show is a bit before this one)

she verified for me that tickets will go on sale to students first and a
valid id will be required. i asked her if they would then go on sale to the
public and she said they would if there were any left but she said shows
like this there usually "close" ticket sales by selling out with students
and faculty and there aren't any tickets left for the public...

so unless you are a u of c student or know someone who is who owes you a
really big favor, this might be tricky. i do have the reynold's club phone
number if anyone wants to email me privately, but it might be best to wait
a week or so to call, as tickets won't have gone on sale by then anyway and
i really don't see the need to flood them with calls that probably won't
help any of us. i live a 4 to 5 hour drive south of chicago and was excited
that this might be doable, but now i'm not so sure.

just wanted to let everyone know what i found out, which admittedly isn't a
whole lot,
michelle

jupiter index web magazine
a new on-line music magazine is up and running from austin, texas, the "live
music capital of the world." "jupiter index web magazine" was founded as a
nonprofit member-based service late last year and will provide fresh coverage
of the music scene around the world on the world wide web.

jupiter index intends to fill a void in music education, sharing
knowledge about individual artists and new music while highlighting
talented up-and-coming music writers.

our current issue has interviews with amy ray of daemon records
and musician meredith brooks.

the organization intends to pay for the on-line operating costs of
the magazine through memberships and with the help of sponsoring underwriters.
membership for a year costs $15.

gabrielle burns, founder of jupiter index, says, "people who regularly attend
concerts and shows should read this magazine. our intent is to cover the music
and artists that are fresh and original, the ones that people who regularly
attend concerts and shows want to hear about."

ok crew.  the following ig vinyl is for sale:
indigo girls
strange fire (epic re-release)
strange fire (independent original release)

also:  ellen james society: amsterdam/everything and lay quiet awhile
satan's brew/big purse girl.

i'd like $5 each for ejsoc and lqa, $10 each for ig and epic sf, and $50 for
the independent sf seeing as it *is* out of print and i *did* originally
give over $100 for it.

anyone interested?
