tickets went onsale via ticketmaster for the may 7th date on march
31st. they are general admission so it doesn't matter that you're
buying late. i didn't find them under indigo girls but under a venue
search. can anyone tell me about the river stages event? thanks.

just to explain how ravinia works, to those who are wondering...
it's a great place, and the lawn seats are relatively inexpensive (maybe
$10 all the time)
the pavilion seats are privately owned, as well as many open to the
public. [...]
the lawn is lovely, although you will not be able to see the girls,
unless you walk to the top of the pavilion. there is a pavilion, and
then 2 or more lawns on the sides, not directly behind, the pavilion.
people in the audience are not meant to see the performers, in other
words.
but the big catch is that ravinia is perfect (even in the lawn (maybe
even especially)) because you can bring in a picnic, wine, beer, treats,
etc.
[...]
if you get there in time (which you will, if you're not late) there
should be some lawn space to throw a blanket down. i like the lawn, b/c
you see everyone else around you, you hang out, you can dance, and you
hear the music well. as i said, you just can't see the stage. it's a
trade off.
[...]
hope that helps

the free ig concert on the quad at duke university is
for students only. sorry y'all! the good people at the
campus information line (the ticket office is not
handling this event) tell me you'll need a duke id to
get in.

subject: [ig-news] university of chicago cd boot (and more!) offered
[sherlyn's note: this message was originally sent to the indigo
girls mailing list at netspace.org.]
hi, folks,
i have a cd boot of the university of chicago show (last week) that
i'm going to offer up to the list. please keep reading for details.
the boot is amazing quality. i've been doing this for a long time,
and this is honestly the best one i've ever made. why? (1) the
people around me were dead quiet, so there's practically no background
noise at all. (2) we were up so close that the microphone actually
picked up some of a&e's chat that didn't go into the microphone. (3)
even though we were front row, the sound quality is really good. for
those of you who are sticklers about quality, most of the boots of the
yale show in '95 are copies from my original; i'd give that one an a-
and this one an a/a+.
instead of sending me cd-rs and sases, though, i'm going to run this
as a fundraiser for the california aids ride (www.aidsride.org). i'm
doing the ride with a few of my friends, and two of them haven't yet
made their minimum pledge requirements which are due soon.
here's how this will work. you send me a check for $25 (or more)
written out to the "california aids ride" and a completed donation
form (i'll send you a blank one by email) via snail mail. when i get
your check i'll burn you a cd and mail it out asap. then i'll mail
your check in to the aids ride office. note: you can make this
pledge by credit card--how often can you get an ig boot by credit card
and still not be buying it???
**bonus: for a $50 contribution to the aids ride you can have the u.
of c. boot and a copy of newport '98, also on cd. for a $75
contribution i'll add the house of blues show from chicago back in
february, too. and for $100 you can have the previous three and the
yale show from '95.**
[a note to the flamers, not to be confused with the flamer who i'll be
riding with and who already hit y'all up for dough a couple of weeks
ago: i'm not selling this boot, i'm simply forcing a charitable
contribution. other than the coercion part i think that trading boots
(that is, exchanging them for no profit) and funding charities are
very ig activities, so i'm hoping they would approve. this is my
logic.]
still interested? ok. here's what to do:
(1) send me an email at: mclayton@mindspring.com with the subject line
"boot offer." (i delete 99% of the email that comes to this account,
so this is to help me identify your message as non-spam.) in this
message tell me how many which boots you want.
(2) i will reply to this message, confirming your "order," sending you
a copy of the pledge form in adobe pdf format, and giving your
instructions for what to do next (which will be filling out the form,
mailing it and your check to me, and waiting for your boots to
arrive).
so, folks, the aids ride is a great event and it will raise many
millions of dollars for aids research and care. sponsoring a rider is
an awesome thing to do in the first place (seriously good karma), so
how can you resist combining this excellence with that of listening to
the ig's music?
