a who/indigo girls buddy of mine wrote the following, and i thought i'd share.

lauren,

i saw indigo girls at cornell university last night and it was an amazing
show! it was the first time i'd seen them since hofstra university on long
island back before sots came out, and this show was just so enjoyable.

here's the set list as i am trying to remember it, in no particular order
at all. feel free to post this to the usual places :-)

get out the map
jonas & ezekial
gone again
world falls
ghost
least complicated
ozilline
amy solo song (i don't remember the name, but it sounded pretty heavy and i
know it had a line in there about people creating signs finding different
ways to say "blow me" which the crowd thought was pretty funny)
philosophy of loss (emily solo)
closer to fine
go
peace tonight
cold beer and remote control
shame on you
power of two
kid fears

encore:
blister in the sun (with danielle howle)
galileo

some other information:

the girls seemed to be in a great mood, happy to be in ithaca.
unfortunately, the water lines broke at the hall they were playing in, so
all the toilets were broken! they apologized to the crowd but then said
that their toilets were broken too, so they also had bad luck! they joked
about us all having to pee in cups.

a lot of people shouted out requests, but it's hard to tell how many were
planned or not since they vary their set list so often. someone shouted
out "left me a fool" but amy explained that emily didn't remember how to
play that one anymore.

they had to restart ghost 3 times!  the first time, they stopped because
someone in the front row shouted, "that's my theme!" and they thought she
said, "that's my name!"  so they restarted, and out of nowhere, some girl
just walks up on stage.  so they stop the song, and this girl starts
talking without the aid of a microphone to the audience and the girls.
she says "i don't know why i'm up here" and emily said, "yeah, we don't
know either!"

amy said, "well, since she's up here, let's do this song later and make
something out of it" to which the crowd reacted negatively (everyone wanted
to hear ghost!). amy and emily talked with her for a second while people
yelled for her to get off the stage...she left and the song started over.
needless to say, it was beautiful. that song, especially live, takes me to
a different planet everytime i hear it.

i'd like to put out a request to anyone who has a nice live copy of emily
doing "philosophy of loss."  i already loved this song, but the cd really
doesn't do it justice.  the song, in my opinion, doesn't need all the piano
and strings.  it really just needs emily and a guitar.  if anyone could
possibly contact me if they have a copy, i'd appreciate it.  one of my
friends who went with me would love to choreograph her advanced jazz dance
final to it, and i'd love to help her out.

so that's that! a wonderful show.

on kfog's live from the archives tonight, they are broadcasting last
week's ig concert, or part of it. the show is usually an hour long, and
since they're sharing it with the jayhawks, ig will probably only be on
for an hour.

but, kfog is available over the internet at www.kfog.com (i think)...
it's at 8pm pdt. hope someone can tape this!!!!

chastain update part thirty-seven!!!!

the 6/2/00 is confirmed by chastain amp. (see the e-mail below - i wrote to
them inquiring and they just e-mailed me back) it is going onsale thru tm
either this saturday or next saturday and like ron mentioned - this will be
the show to go to b/c (a) you have a chance to get good tix's (b) you don't
have to buy 2 shows in the series & (c) it will be filled with all of us
fans! (ps: it's still my fave outdoor venue in atl - that's my story and
i'm sticking to it!)

the show is not on the tm website as of now, but might be soon. that's all
folks. happy hunting...
