from the may 9 issue of the advocate:

"... considering how springfield adored black female soul singers, it's
poetically just that three of the best cuts are by sistahs:  laura love
romps through a countrified 'son of a preacher man'; the tonight show with
jay leno's percussionist-vocalist vicki randle turns 'wishin' and hopin''
into a wink-wink reggae version (she doesn't really want to wear her hair
'just for him'); and david bowie's bassist-backing vocalist gail ann dorsey
does a deep-voiced old-school rendition of the big ballad 'losing you'...
indigo girls are earnest but dull on dusty's anti-war folk song 'broken
blossoms' (written by her brother tom)."

indigo rally: the indigo girls - amy ray and emily saliers - will
headline the second night at pepsi jammin' on main may 13, but their
presence will be felt in town the day before.  the two will bring their
own brand of political activism to the university of cincinnati may 12 as
part of the spitfire tour, a free-speech gathering of musicians, activists
and poets.

also appearing will be gay activist tracey conaty and julia ''butterfly''
hill, the environmentalist who lived in a california redwood tree to
prevent it from being cut down.

the spitfire affair is more political polemic than music concert, but the
indigos are expected to perform. the zimmer auditorium event is free, but
uc students will get seating preference in the 700-seat auditorium.

hi again.  not usually one for multiple posts, but thought this might be of
interest...

>from ani d's righteous reader:

the hits just keep on comin'
next up in record land is the long-awaited 'til we outnumber 'em, a live
album on which the likes of billy bragg, ani d, ramblin' jack elliott, arlo
guthrie, indigo girls, david pirner, and bruce springsteen play the songs of
woody guthrie, with additional spoken passages by tim robbins and a whole
bunch o' woody friends and scholars. profits benefit the rock and roll hall
of fame and museum's educational foundation (the hall of fame sponsored the
concert, by the way) and the woody guthrie archives. in stores may 23, 2000;
you can start placing advance orders online in early may.

i then found the tracklisting at amazon who are selling it for $13.99:

track listings

1. hard travellin' hootenanny - all severance cast
2. 1913 massacre - jack elliott
3. against the law - billy bragg
4. riding in my car - bruce springsteen
5. pretty boy floyd - dave pirner
6. do re mi - ani difranco
7. dust storm disaster - arlo guthrie
8. plane wreck at los gatos (deportees) - bruce springsteen
9. ramblin' round - indigo girls & ani difranco
10. born naked - tim robbins
11. talking dust bowl - ramblin' jack elliott
12. til we outnumber them (a.k.a. this land is your land) - all severance
cast
13. payback - peter glazer
14. regular fires - arlo guthrie
15. free in every moment - arlo guthrie
16. change the moment - arlo guthrie
17. what a song is - fred hellerman
18. it ain't about bein' perfect - craig werner
19. does music change the world? - country joe mcdonald

personally, the tracklisting doesn't sound all that exciting, but then
that's never stopped me buying an album just for one ig song.
