it's written by ellen goodman and patricia o'brien and is in
hardcover at the moment, it looks like...]

hi guys! i had a little something i wanted to share-- a friend of mine sent
me this book called i know just what you mean: the power of friendship in
women's lives. it's written by two best friends who wanted to display the
beauty of friendship and all that makes each one special. they interview
different women (some famous some aren't) and ask them to tell what makes
their friendship work. well-- while i was reading a chapter called "we're in
it together" it began to talk about friends who work together and lo and
behold there was an intervirew with our girls! most of the story of how they
met we know-- but it is funny b/c emily gives her first impressions of amy
and her music. (she was so different then-- it's hard to imagine our amy like
this! :) it's a brief chapter and there is a good 4 pages on the girls...but
the book as a whole is a pretty good read. i do want to share my favorite
part, though. the authors ask the girls what makes their two decade music
career and friendship a success, and amy replies, " the sum is greater than
the parts. we both know that and that's what keeps us intact." sounds like an
amy reply to me! :) just wanted to share-- have a great day!! take

on the official web site there was a thread regarding this webcast. robin
from realnetworks said that later this week both the interview and the show
will be available to watch. go to http://www.realguide.com to see it. i
don't think that it would be there yet, but i am sure it will be by friday.

indigo girls record two new tracks for retrospective

july 17, 2000,

the indigo girls have recorded two new tracks, one by amy ray and the
other by emily saliers, to be featured on the duo's upcoming career
retrospective, radio box: a retrospective, due oct. 17 on epic records.

ray's "devotion" and salier's "leaving" will both be included in the
16-track compilation, which spans the duo's career from its 1986
independent release, strange fire, (later re-issued by epic) to its
latest offering, 1999's come on now social.

the girls' biggest hits are included ("closer to fine," "galileo,"
"least complicated") as well as the gamut of live favorites from the
years ("go," "ghost," "kid fears," "power of two," and "shame on you").

in addition to radio box, epic records will be reissuing the first four
albums by the girls -- 1986's strange fire, 1989's indigo girls, 1990's
nomads indians saints, and 1992's rites of passage -- with new
packaging, liner notes, and as-yet-undecided bonus tracks, on the same
date.

the indigo girls are currently making the rounds on their annual summer
shed tour -- the duo his jacksonville, fla. on monday (july 17).
