i think it was mentioned on this list earlier that emily was going to be
on the cover of winex magazine.  it's the august-september issue.
here's a link to a picture of the cover.

http://www.winexwired.com/archives/cover.htm

from there you can go to the homepage and they have a wine x magazine
locator to help you find the magazine in your area.

it's a very cute picture of emily!

the show actually began at 6:30 with hue.  they're a
trio with piano, cello, and viola and a set of lovely
voices.  they sang several of their songs as well as a
great cover of "eleanor rigby."  they got great
applause and i couldn't help thinking that although
the beat of their music was filled with jazz, (which i
don't like) they were very much like amy and emily in
their beautifully crafted harmonies.

michelle malone came on next...oh my!!!!  i've never
seen michelle and wow, was she great!!! i think
everyone had fun dancing to her music. amy introduced
her and emily sang one song with her.

right at 8:30 amy and emily took the stage.  fashion
report first.  emily wore her black boots, dark blue
or black capri pants, her michael's lounge chalice
shirt with the funky striped shirt over.  amy...okay,
gotta remind myself to breathe here.  amy wore blue
jeans...a black tank or tee and what looked like the
blue shirt on the offical site.  she also had on that
necklace.  she looked radiant.  (don't take this as
anything but radiance - i'm not speculating on a
motherly glow here! <grin>)  amy was just beautiful as
could be last night.  breathtaking, absolutely.

fashion done, the set was was tight, but filled with
fun music.  i'll attempt the setlist but it's not in
order and if i miss anything y'all can shoot me later,
okay?

peace tonight
gone again
soon to be nothing
least complicated
ozilline
go(dedicated to those in ny struggling for gay rights
related to imigration rights)
get out the map
shame on you
power of two (with hue...amy got caught up in hue and
totally missed several lines of the harmony.  she just
grinned and stood back playing)
romeo and juliet
wild horses
i don't wanna know (with michelle malone)
galileo
closer to fine
prince of darkness
jonas and ezekial

i'm pretty sure there's at least one more, but it's
late...or early.  the show itself was great.  amy
remarked about the plaza and the building behind.
both of them joked about how they expected the queen
of albany to come out and that they were doing a
command performance.  they talked about the rain
holding off - it did turn out to be a beautiful night
with an almost-full moon.  there was also some
conversation about the fact that it was a free show
and we paid for it with our tax dollars.  lots of
thoughts about it being a fun gig and great audience
and all. i'm not sure who sang more on "closer to
fine", the girls or the audience.  amy remarked, after
hue that this is why she does what she does, so that
she can just come out and sing with friends.

romeo and juliet...oh my...the passion coming forth
was unreal.  everyone began singing but i don't think
anyone but amy finished the song.  there was such an
aura about that...almost as if we were all intruding
on a moment of pure unadulterated passion...someone
sitting on their bed with a guitar and crying their
guts out through that song.  it was incredible.

it was really clear that amy was in a great mood last
night.  [...]
amy was animated and fun and she only shredded one
string tonight.  emily seemed like she was having a
good time but looked tired.  still, emily was as
beautiful as only emily can be.  they talked about how
they'd gone downtown yesterday afternoon and wandered.
how there was a pizza place on every corner and each
one proclaiming to be the best.

[...]

all in all, the night rocked...it was one of those
magical days and nights that come once in a lifetime.
i miss everyone i met.  enjoy cleveland, y'all!!!

elisanne, who misses amy's pretty smile.

wednesday, the night of the opening ceremonies,
the indigo girls performed. [...] so before
ig, we had the opening ceremonies, a delightful
lesbian duet barb higbie & teresa trull, the very
hilarious suzanne westenhoefer and on to our girls. ig
played about a 90 minute set and were in very good
spirits. [...]

i know they did hammer and a nail, shed your skin, kid
fears, galileo, closer to fine, the rest escapes me at
the moment. i was too caught up in the moment to write
things down or really remember. the best moments were
when ferron came out to do a song with emily and when
ulali joined ig on stage for "shed your skin".

ig seemed very happy to be at the festival. they kept
saying how much they loved it and how this year they
invited themselves back because before they loved it
so much. amy kept making adorable comments something
like: "this year is mine and emily's 25th anniversary.
it's the anniversary of our friendship. happy
anniversary emily"
"happy anniversary, amy"
<crowd says awwwww>
amy continues: "and you know how we stayed together
all this time? we didn't sleep together. so all of you
can stay together by becoming celibate right now."

when ferron came out on stage amy started telling a
cute story of how things were when they used to play
together years and years ago and how they would play
poker and ferron was really good at poker and they
would lose all their money to her and get really
drunk. amy's cutest (not exact) quote: "by the end of
the night all of us except ferron were making bets
from under the table" <turns to ferron> "you know the
last time we saw eachother i missed my plane because i
couldn't walk? i woke up, tried to get up and fell out
of bed. and i was like 'ohhhhhh, fuck.'"
ferron: "i missed my plane because i had too much
money in my pockets."

[...]

emily's duet with ferron was really great but when
they did "shed your skin" with ulali, that was truly
amazing. so the night comes to an end and we're all
blown out of our minds.

[...] the last act of the [next] evening were the
butchies and there was a really fun mosh pit and yours
truly jumped into it. it took me a little over 5
minutes to situate myself into front row and the
butchies were pretty good. but amy ray joined them for
their last song before the encore. it was a really
great punk song of hers and i really hope it makes it
on her punk cd.

[...]

hey folks,

fyi, the album re-releases have apparently been pushed
back to october 3rd.  the track listings have just been
released (i got these from http://brianclary.com since
the official site seems to be down at the moment).  the
new tracks for each album are:

indigo girls
        land of canaan - live
        center stage - live

nomads*indians*saints
        welcome me - live
you and me of the 10,000 wars - live
        interview

rites of passage
        three hits - live
love will come to you - live

strange fire
        crazy game - live
        someone to come home

note - that last one is almost certainly "(everybody's
waiting for) someone to come home" (brackets may not be
quite in the right spots there) which was the b-side to
the original "crazy game" single...
