tickets for the oct 27 show went on sale via ticketmaster last friday.

tickets for oct 26 go on sale october 3rd for students and october 4th for
the public. they are $30 for non-students. they are only sold through
farthing auditorium - 1-800-841-arts (mon thru fri, 10am to 6pm). we will
update our webpage soon and put up all indigo girls information. the email

so i had been wondering about this mystery date...

but it is true...the indigo girls will be performing at the newport music
hall on 21 october (saturday!!!!!!!!!) at the newport music hall in columbus.

i called the venue directly...tix onsale either friday or saturday. the
entire place is general admission, so i'm not freaking out about being on the
phone as soon as they go onsale.

michelle malone is the opening act... (!!!)

the crowd stood shoulder-to-shoulder, flesh pressed upon
flesh and crackled with electric anticipation while it waited
for the indigo girls to take the stage for their two-night
sold-out stint at los angeles' house of blues. each night
amy ray and emily saliers entertained and enchanted
their audiences, whipping it into a frenzy for one song and
slowing it down for a heartfelt grab your loved one's hand
and squeeze the next minute.

for the past twenty years saliers and ray have entertained
crowds with their earnest and folky writings. along the way
they have developed a loyal and loving following that has
grown with the duo. the love was evident at the house of
blues' shows when the normally reserved and stand-offish la
crowds sang in unison to old-time favorites like "galileo"
and "closer to fine."

being queens of la for two nights is a long way from the
inauspicious beginnings of this duo. school-aged chums,
ray and saliers began playing together in high school. even
the lure of college couldn't separate the two and both soon
found themselves enrolled at atlanta's emory university.
after graduation they gave life as musicians a full-time
chance and were soon signed to epic records on the strength
of a successful independent release. they built their fan
base the old fashioned way: touring. the two road warriors
crossed and crisscrossed the us playing smoky bars and
night clubs. captivating fans with their melodies and their
southern gothic lyrical images that addressed love, politics
and religion.

fast-forward twenty years and very little has changed in the
indigo girls' modus operandi. they still tour endlessly. they
still invoke gothic images of the battles between man, the
church and the state, only now they occasionally write about
their grandmothers and their dogs. sure, their past two
studio albums have seen them experiment successfully with
electrified sound, but even guitar distortion can't hide the
lyrical and melodic beauty of a saliers or ray penned song...
