ok, here's the deal.
when it comes to scanners and the like, i am a moron! i have been trying for
an hour to scan the freakin' ig article from girlfriends magazine in. let's
just put it this way. . . i have been less than sucessful. i am giving up
for tonight. in fact i'm thinking of just xeroxing the article and sending
it to someone who happens to understand the wonderful world of scanners
better than myself. actually, the more i think about it, the better that
sounds!
so i am asking...if there is anyone (i will just take the first person who
e-mails me) who has a scanner who knows how to use it (unlike myself) who
would be willing to scan in and share the girlfriends article with the list,
please e-mail me. if you're the first to e-mail me, i'll ask you for your
snail mail addy, xerox the article, and send it your way. that way i won't
take back my offer to share the article, but at the same time i won't have to
deal with this fu*ken scanner!
anyone?

scan it and share. so i am no longer looking for someone with a scanner.

subject: nigc--peltier statement
mime-version: 1.0
content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1
content-transfer-encoding: 7bit
i got this article from the cnn web site:
washington (cnn) -- imprisoned native american activist and convicted murderer leonard peltier blasted former president clinton on monday for refusing to include him among several other controversial figures pardoned on
his final day in office.
peltier was convicted in the slaying deaths of two fbi agents in a 1975 gunbattle on the pine ridge indian
reservation in south dakota. peltier and his supporters say he was wrongly convicted.
"what bill clinton did to us was cruel," wrote peltier in a two-page letter released by his legal defense committee.
"the white house gave my attorneys indications that there was a good chance for my clemency to be granted. i had to prepare myself for being released because there was no sign that my petition would be denied."
rumors that clinton was considering a christmas pardon for peltier swept through the fbi, angering agents from coast to coast and prompting an unprecedented march of thousands of current and former fbi agents in washington in december to demand that peltier's clemency request be rejected.
peltier, 56, is housed in the u.s. penitentiary at
leavenworth, kansas. he has been in federal custody since february 1976. in his letter, he accused clinton of approving pardons because of political favors.
clinton's most controversial pardon was granted to fugitive billionaire marc rich, who has been living in switzerland since a 1983 indictment on charges of wire
fraud, racketeering, tax evasion and trading with iran in violation of a u.s. embargo. rich's ex-wife, denise rich, was a major donor to the campaigns of both the president and his wife, new york sen. hillary rodham clinton.
"we can see who was granted clemency and why," peltier said. "the big donors to the president's campaign were able to buy justice, something we just couldn't afford"
"meanwhile many political prisoners continue to languish unjustly, proof that this nation's talk about reconciliation is nothing but empty rhetoric."
sources familiar with the process told cnn a peltier pardon never appeared to be a likely action because of intense opposition from law enforcement agencies and prosecutors at all levels of government.
but human rights activists were equally vocal in their support of peltier, who they say was wrongly convicted. his supporters argue that evidence that would have helped peltier's case was kept from his defense attorneys.
nobel peace prize winner nelson mandela leads a list of prominent figures in africa and europe who support peltier's campaign for clemency.
fbi documents released in the early 1980s disclosed that ballistics tests that aided peltier's defense had been concealed from his attorneys. about 6,000 pages of fbi documents in the peltier case remain under seal, and his defense committee said it would pressure the u.s. government to declassify that information.

caroline live, and she kicks ass. if you're interested in coming and

hehe. i bought a copy of put on your green shoes back in the mid (or early,
i can't remember) 1990's. i had put "wild wild party..." on a mix tape
(luckily) because i managed to lose the recording. oh what i'd give just to
find my copy of put on your green shoes...

hey everyone. i just saw kristen hall at eddie's attic this past weekend.
she is absolutely fab. i later posted a message to this list trying to get
folks to email me personally if they were k. hall fans like myself. well,
apparently i'm a bit of a dreeb and didn't re-read what i wrote. it confused
a lot of people. what i meant to do was to just get people who were k. hall
fans to email me personally instead of wasting space on this list, so that i
could let them know that i recently got a hold of a fab bootleg that is very
funny and very good. i'm really sorry if it worried some of you. there's
not a need to worry as far as i know. she's awesome. i first bought one of
her tapes at a record store in dallas texas in 1994 after i saw her with
matthew sweet in knoxville, tn in early 1994. while i was working at a
homeless shelter in dallas, i rode the city bus every single day. i took my
walkman everyday and listened to swamp ophelia and kristen hall....all summer
long. now i always think of sweat and soup and coffee and gas fumes with
"least complicated" and "following my compass". that sounds romantic and
nice and swell, but that summer was the worst summer i have ever lived, and
of course those 2 tapes helped tremendously. so, there's no need to worry as
far as i know.
if you'd like a copy of this fab bootleg, email me.

i was able to get an extra copy of the limited-edition two song ig cd

and trouble. i'd like to trade it for a copy of the borders cd that came
out a few months ago.
anyone interested? please email me off list at bonster@drizzle.com
thanks,
