just wanted to let everyone know what an incredible time i had last night
seeing rose.  she is such an amazing performer and a very sweet person.  she
was delighted to be playing for such a captive audience, which is very
different from the previous times i've seen her, straining to listen over
rowdy ig fans :-)
anyhoo (in ruby romaine voice), i booted the show and it sounds excellent -
email me privately if you're interested in a trade.

another excuse to come back and visit my 2nd favorite

morpheus is good, you can download it at http://www.musiccity.com - a
little note though, once you get morpheus, it's a little frustrating to
get it to work initially.  wait until the little info bar at the bottom
says you're connected, and then, click the search tab at the top, don't
just enter what you're looking for in the search bar on the opening
page.  it doesn't work as well.

also, secondarily, if what you're looking for isn't on morpheus, try
winmx - http://www.winmx.com - i've found this to be better than
napster, and gives you more control than morpheus.  it's a good thing
to try if you can't find what you're looking for on morpheus, but
doesn't usually have as many users.  and you can continue a download if
it fails, as long as you can find a user who has the same file, even if
it's named differently.

sorry for the nigc - did anyone get the full hour mtv2 broadcast? i was
throughly p*&^ed when i saw the closing credits after 25 min on mtv, only 5
songs, last night.  i have the entire show on cdr (audio - via mp3) and i
really only want to see it at least once - if you taped it can you get back
to me?

it frightens me that mtv didn't broadcast the incredible version of country
feedback and only put the first ever live "beat a drum" on their webcast.

let me repeat - i do *not* need the mtv b'cast. i need the mtv 2 version.

thanks -

just remove audiogalaxy's spyware - if it isnt possible now (ad aware is

morpheus lets you continue failed downloads as well - just right click
on it and choose "resume download" or "find more sources for download".

i will have to try winmx though...thanks for the recommendation!

spyware are add-on programs downloaded with (some) file-trading
software that track your web usage and report back to the original
software developer.  some of them also then place pop-up adds on your
computer as you surf the net.  my main problem with it was the pop-up
ads.  at first i thought cnn.com and google started having pop-ups,
until once when i visited google, a porn ad came up on my screen, so i
had to assume it was the spyware and resulting pop-ups. this is my
work computer, so having a porn pop-up is simply not an option. at
home i might be willing to live with it to get mp3's, but not at work.

running ad-aware solved the problem, but still, now i am wary.

so this hasn't happened to anyone else with morpheus or winmx?

okay, speaking of me there is this song that i downloaded from bearshare
when i was trying to decide if i wanted to buy skin or not (which i did).
but anyway, this song had skin track 11 listed with it.  well, since i have
bought it i know that it is not on this disc.  does anyone know where the
song "whispers in (my) heart" comes from?  please respond privately of
course.
thanks,

sell things there, so i might have to pay a monthly fee.  any advice would

hi y'all,

this is a little blurb forwarded from the melissa ferrick list about a
friend of mine touring the midwest. i thought some folks on here might be
interested as well. if you can make it, she's definitely worth it!

___________________________________________________________________________

hiya.  i hope you all are ok with me sending the following
announcement to several lists.  it's about amy martin's first big
midwest tour.  amy is an artist from missoula, mt (where i live) who
is really amazing.  the lists i am on have been such a source of new
music for me, and such a support in other ways, that i really want to
share this info with you all.  i'll give you a few quotes about amy
so you know what she's about, but just trust me that seeing her live
is a great experience and if you live near any of these places you
should check her out.  this tour is in support of her brand new
totally acoustic cd, unbroken....

"with her first cd, the rich and beautiful "to you," martin proved
herself to be the west's answer to east coast pop-folkie dar
williams. she sings intelligent story songs, some personal, some
political." - spokesman review, spokane, wa

"her lyrics bring to mind the poetry of walt whitman, after whose
poem to you the album was named. her style is as bluesy and bold as
it is melodic and ear-pleasing, and her vocals are as pure and steady
as a young joni mitchell. so it comes as no surprise that the appeal
of this artist goes far and wide."  -pacific northwest inlander

you can go to http://www.amy-martin.com for more info on her.

i hope some of you can make it to a show!!

people turned out for the event. we couldn't have asked for more.

we couldn't have asked for a more peaceful, nonviolent event,
itcertainly was diverse. dancing, drumming, singing,  people  laying out

without you. if you didn't, than i'm sorry for the nigc.

is so the most brilliant album of all-time? no. although i think
fugitive is beautiful. i like touch me fall, and this train revised,
other than that,i like rites of passage, because most of their standard
songs are from that one and it was a radical departure from their
earlier works.

so is my favorite album of all time....not just of the
girls.  it was one of the first cd's that i could
listen to all the way through numerous times.  it
reminds me of a certain time in my life and every time
i listen to it, it brings the memories back.  i love
all of the songs, my favorites being fugitive and the
wood song.  i also liked how it was different than the
music the girls had previously produced.  just my $.02

so is also my favorite ig album. i was playing cards at a friend's house
last night and she had so there. i didn't even know she is an ig fan. of
course we put it on.... i hadn't heard it for a long time so it was a real
treat! 'language or the kiss'  is my favorite emily song. it really is hard
to pick a "favorite" since i just love eveything they do. i'm very excited
about their upcoming cd !
my 2 cents,
lynne

i really think that you choose you favorite songs or cds based off the
connection you make with them. some songs you feel are meant or were written
to you, other songs become favorites once they're played live in concert,
and some songs grow on you as your life changes. personally i love so
because it takes you on such a journey. you go through changes and
transformations and by the end of the cd you have gained something (even if
you've listened to the cd millions of times before). though in all honesty
this happens while listening to any one song or cd of the ig. it's such
magic. just some thoughts.

peace,
leah

p.s. i must admit though that fugitive is one of my favorite songs.

well, no one has posted about the show yet, so i'll just go ahead and say
that it was the best show ever!  heh.  i had a blast.  i did not keep up with
a set list, of course.  i got a picture made with amy, and i shook emily's
hand.  that was such a treat, though i hate to be an annoying fan.  i would
like to see them as the atlanta locals see them- - as just regular people.
but of course, i have them on a pedestal.  my god, it is hard not to, since
they are so unbelievably talented.  we pulled up at the echolounge to park,
and there amy was just strolling down the sidewalk with some friends.  i was
like, hmmm, i want to live in a city where amy ray just strolls down the
sidewalk, or pulls up at the record store in her pathfinder, and it is no big
deal.  haha.  but yeah, the show was great.  i loved the butchies, it was the
first time i had seen them.  amy made a little comment about having cocktails
with rose polenzani (sp?) in the back room, hehe, cute.  you could tell she
had had a couple ;-)  oh well, i am sure ya'll will hear more later from
others who kept up with the set list.  have a great day!

i was just chatting with a friend about "left me a fool" and we were talking
about one of the lines that (according to lifeblood and what we hear anyway)
is

<quote>
but when it comes to flesh and bones
you remind me of shallot

<unquote>

so the question is...any idea why a shallot????  just doesn't seem to flow
with the song (i mean the word works) but why the word shallot ? does a
vegetable have a meaning here ?

(see - totally random and really, not that deep of a question!)

hi there!

well, there's a poem called the lady of shallot by tennyson... i

always thought she was referring to that.. not a vegetable;)...

here it is:

                         the lady of shalott

on either side the river lie

long fields of barley and of rye,

               that clothe the wold and meet the sky;

and thro' the field the road runs by

                      to many-tower'd camelot

and up and down the people go,

                    gazing where the lilies blow

                    round an island there below,

                       the island of shalott.

                   willows whiten, aspens quiver,

                   little breezes disk and shiver

thro' the wave that runs for ever

by the island in the river

   flowing down to camelot.

four grey walls, and four grey towers,

                    overlook a space of flowers,

                    and the silent isle imbowers

   the lady of shalott

                    only reapers, reaping early,

                     in among the beared barley

hear a song that echoes cheerly

                   from the river winding clearly,

   down to tower'd camelot;

and by the moon the reaper weary,

                  piling sheaves in uplands airy,

                  listing, whispers "'tis the fairy

   the lady of shalott."

there she weaves by night and day

a magic web with colours gay.

she has heard a whisper say,

a curse is on her if she stay

   to look down to camelot.

she knows not what the curse may be,

                    and so she weaveth steadily,

and little other care hath she,

   the lady of shalott.

and moving through a mirror clear

that hangs before her all the year,

                    shadows of the world appear.

there she sees the highway near

   winding down to camelot;

and sometimes thro' the mirror blue

the knights come riding two and two.

she hath no loyal knight and true,

   the lady of shalott.

but in her web she still delights

to weave the mirror's magic sights,

for often thro' the silent nights

a funeral, with plumes and with lights

   and music, went to camelot;

or when the moon was overhead,

came two young lovers lately wed.

"i am, half sick of shadow," she said,

   the lady of shalott.

                  a bow-shot from her bower-eaves,

he rode between the barley sheaves,

the sun came dazzling thro' the leaves,

and flamed upon the brazen greaves,

   of bold sir lancelot.

                a red-cross knight for ever kneel'd

to a lady in his shield,

that sparkled on the yellow field,

   beside remote shalott.

              his broad clear brow in sunlight glow'd;

              on burnish'd hooves his war-horse trode;

                 from underneath his helmet flow'd

his coal-black curls as on he rode,

as he rode down to camelot.

and from the bank and from the river

he flashed into the crystal mirror,

                     "tirra lirra," by the river

   sang sir lancelot.

she left the web, she left the loom,

she made three paces thro' the room,

                   she saw the water-lily bloom,

she saw the helmet and the plume,

   she look'd down to camelot.

                 out flew the web and floated wide;

               the mirror crack'd from side to side;

"the curse is come upon me," cried

   the lady of shalott.

                 in the stormy east-wind straining,

the pale yellow woods were waning,

the broad stream in his banks complaining.

                     heavily the low sky raining

   over tower'd camelot;

down she cam and found a boat

                   beneath a willow left afloat,

and round the prow she wrote

   the lady of shalott.

                    down the river's dim expanse

like some bold seer in a trance,

seeing all his own mischance -

                      with a glassy countenance

   she looked to camelot.

and at the closing of the day

              she loosed the chain, and shown she lay;

the broad stream bore her far away,

   the lady of shalott.

                   heard a carol, mournful, holy,

                  chanted loudly, chanted slowly,

till her blood was frozen slowly,

and her eyes were darkened wholly,

   turn'd to tower'd camelot.

for ere she reach'd upon the tide

the first house by the water-side,

singing in her song she died,

   the lady of shalott.

                      under tower and balcony,

                    by garden-wall and gallery,

a gleaming shape she floated by,

                 dead-pale between the houses high,

   silent into camelot.

and out upon the wharfs they came,

knight and burgher, lord and dame,

and round the prow they read her name,

   the lady of shalott.

who is this? and what is here?

and in the lighted palace near

                   died the sound of royal cheer;

                  they crossed themselves for fear,

   the knights at camelot;

but lancelot mused a little space

                  he said, "she has a lovely face;

god in his mercy lend her grace,

   the lady of shalott

dunno, if that's what she meant for sure, though...

i've always thought it's because shallots have so many layers ... you have
to peel through all of them to get to the core ... however, i was taught to
pronounce that word with emphasis on the first syllable, not the second ...
was giving her artist's license on that one ...

i'm so happy to hear swamp ophelia getting the "brilliant" treatment.
it's also my favorite ig album, followed directly by rites of
passage.  leah expressed it so beautifully.  the songs probably mean
so many different things to many different people.  it's one of those
albums that has followed me through quite a few different phases of
my life, and probably one of the only albums where i've had to turn
it off because it was just hitting too close to home (this means it's
a great album, in my opinion!).  i love it all the way through,
especially fugitive, language or the kiss, reunion and fare thee well
(especially that one).

am i still calling this thing an album?

jason

thanks for the heads up!

is this an early broadcast? unless i'm reading my calendar wrong, it's
next sunday, not tonight, giving me time to buy some blank tapes and
program both my vcrs.

actually, there are several...
http://www.geocities.com/wellesley/7303/shallot.htm

i think, they were inspired by either the poem or other books or
poetry about arthurian legends that also discuss the story about the
lady of shallot.
i find the significance of shadows in the life of lady shallot
difficult to derive from the painting, though. so, i guess emily
probably read some book about the various king arthur legends or she
just came across the story about the lady of shallot some other
way... i imagine there are several books about it, too... not only
the poem by tennyson, dunno.

i'm going to sound in on this one, but i'm going to strike out on my own. so
is my 3rd fave. i love it (as i love all ig cd's), and probably my all-time
emily fave is on this one, the wood song. it's terrific.

that said, to me, it does not have the power, beauty, or relevence of ig or
rop. ig ranks as one of the three cd's i most love in the world (the others
being bob dylan's "blood on the tracks" and stevie nicks' "bella donna"). i
have listened to it again and again, being moved and enlightened every time.
ig is also my favorite road-trip cd. i discovered this cd right after high
school and just before i left for college in 1989, after seeing the girls
open for neil young (one of the best, if not the best, shows i've ever
seen). so, it became my soundtrack to those new experiences, new insights,
personal changes, and all that travelling to and from school. i am still
blown away by "closer to fine," "secure yourself," "land of canaan," and
"love's recovery" every time.

i remember when i first got so back when it came out in 1994....it was
such a breath of fresh air. i'd been cooped-up recovering from a broken
ankle for so loooong. my sister took me
to the mall of america and i wheeled myself out to the record shop to
pick it up. we put it in the player on the way home, and i swear
fugitive just blew me away....the music coupled with the sun told me
spring is the air!!!

the words to fugitive and touch me fall just set my imagination on fire!
i would sit outside in my wheelchair for two hours admiring the beauty
in the back yard, with my earphones on. (i didn't want to bother others)

it was so much trouble to get out of the house because i was on a hill
with all these steps surrounding....paratransit people did not like
carrying my wheelchair down with me in it, so i would literally go down
all the steps on my rear end, and with their help, hoist myself yself up
into the chair. then they'd get me situated on the van and i'd go out.

i tried to go all over the twin cities, but the way the system was set
up it was very hard. and so matter what happened i was bound and
determined to be out in the back yard at least 2 hours at a time. (i
needed help with that too, and that meant my father had to carry the
wheelchairup and down the three steps...which he didn't like at the end
of a long day. soi figured my being out that log made it worth his time,
as well as mine.)

so started me on the path to new awareness about myself, i connected so
strongly with fugitive and touch me fall, (i love the reference to
hamlet in that song...ophelia,his girlfriend jumped into the river and
died)
anyways. i hope you all are enjoying today.

quick review...

amy was in a great mood...

opened the show with a new song solo..."rebel song" or something like
that...she played it on democracy now a while back...

rose p. played a short set, the 1945 (amy came out and did "late bloom" w/
them...

the motlita played and then rose p. again! and then the butchies...who
rocked!

then amy's set w/ the butchies!
mostly the usual stuff...all of stag except "lazyboy", "refugee" and "ever
fall in love"

highlights... tanner rocking out with amy on "mtns. of glory" , amy doing
"sts" w/the butchies and emily jumping up on stage for an amazing version of
"cortez the killer"  emily just wailed on the guitar...

then since they didn't know any more songs amy did "late bloom" again...this
time w/the butchies for an enocre...

sts. she's part of a local portland band called the haggard. anyway, i was

kaia was very involved for a long time in the portland music scene.
she put a solo album out years ago--at least three, maybe four or
five.  its a great album; she's truly an amazing artist. i hope she
does another solo album sometime soon.

hey folks,

here's the article from in step that barb mentioned...

(that url again - http://www.instepnews.com/amyray.html)

-sherlyn

---begin forwarded article---
amy ray goes "stag"

the photograph of amy ray featured on the cover of her
recently-released album "stag" is credited to the
performer herself. this photographic self-portrait is a
fitting metaphor for the first solo recording by the
rougher, tougher half of the well-seasoned duo indigo
girls.

not only does "stag" feature ray's own gutsy lyrics and
guitar: it was produced by ray herself and released on
her own independent label, daemon records. after assuming
myriad voices with remarkable success on the latest
indigo girls album "come on now social," ray demonstrates
a profound eagerness to speak for herself again -- a task
she takes up with confidence and an honesty that is
sometimes painful.

rather than transcend the well-known indigo girls
aesthetic, ray's musical style unleashes an edgy
intensity that has become increasingly apparent on the
duo's more recent albums.

although her opening track "johnny rottentail" could pass
for an appalachian folk anthem, ray quickly settles into
a beat that is propelled by percussion, bass, and a heavy
dose of electric guitar. this instrumentation, coupled
with ray's decision to adopt the more primitive studio
technology of the indigo girls' early recordings, helps
her to achieve a raw, slightly unpolished sound that is
characteristic of many independent-label releases. this
effect is emphasized by her collaboration with the
butchies and the rock*a*teens, independent-label bands
who, along with joan jett, back her up on a number of
tracks.

the gutsy, hard-driving style of up-tempo cuts like
"lucystoners" and "mtns of glory" demonstrates clearly
that ray has not been oblivious to recent trends on the
alternative rock and punk music scene. nonetheless, it is
her down-tempo tracks like "laramie" and "lazyboy" that
give the album its tour de force. rather than settle into
the acoustic singer-songwriter style of earlier indigo
girls' ballads, ray's down-tempo style highlights her
mature lyricism and low, raspy voice without sacrificing
the album's edgy, percussive momentum.

as such, ray's ballads assume their place alongside her
more up-tempo tracks to produce a stylistic integration
that has sometimes been lacking on indigo girls albums.

ray's lyrics are often enigmatic and always challenging.
when, on the album's most straight-forward cut "black
heart today," ray offers up the bitter supplication "take
this meanness out of me," she carries forward the
time-honored indigo girls' tradition of bare-your-soul
honesty that has made the duo's lyrics so compelling.

and indigo girls fans who are expecting a dose of biting
social commentary will not come away disappointed.

ray is at her best, in fact, when searching out an
explanation for our myriad social ills--be they violence,
sexism, or homophobia.

on a track called "laramie," ray recalls the brutal murder
of gay student matthew shepard with the following lines:
"poor man do the biddin' for the rich man. those red necks
just doin' what the class of other's thinkin'. and
tolerance, it ain't acceptance. i know you wanted it to
be."

this is not to imply, however, that ray's lyrics do not
break new ground. in fact, a majority of the tracks on her
album explore the related themes of gender and
sexuality--issues that, for whatever reason, have never
featured prominently on indigo girls' albums. on ray's
hardest-driving cut "hey castrator," for example, she
explores the difficulties of coming to terms with her own
sexuality as an adolescent. and on the track "measure of
me," ray hints at the self-loathing from which many gay and
lesbian youth still suffer: "the boy, he thinks i'm damaged
goods. i know he does and i guess he should .... the lion
lays down with the lamb. but i can't do it, so i ain't
worth a damn."

clearly, ray's collection of tracks offers up its share of
torment. taken as a whole, however, ray's album is neither
sullen nor defeatist. a confident track like "lucystoners,"
for example, provides a healthy counterpoint to "measure of
me." the cut's oft-repeated line "lucystoners don't need
boners" pretty much speaks for itself. and the track "late
bloom" sounds a decidedly optimistic note. to the adversity
of the past and of the moment, she responds with confidence:
"i know we grow when it's over."

fans of the indigo girls need not worry about the duo's
impending demise, as i did when learning of ray's first
solo release: although "stag" unleashes an intensity that
might initially catch listeners off guard, the album will
fit nicely into any indigo girls collection. admittedly,
ray pushes the indigo girls' aesthetic to the breaking
point; but she does so with one eye on--and one arm
around--emily saliers, the duo's kinder, gentler half. after
all, it is only when listening to stag that fans can finally
discover where that enigmatic indigo girls title come on now
social originated.

and who is that woman with ray on the album's cover photo,
anyway?

swamp ophelia was actually one of the first albums by the ig that i brought.
i remember buying 4.5 first of all, and just loving all the songs off that
(especially ghost, hammer and a nail, galileo, closer to fine....), and then
going to university the month after that.

unfortunately, the day i got to university i realised that my cd system just
wouldn't fit in my room (no desk space for it - not with my tv as well....),
so i couldn't play any of my cds - including 4.5. so i tried looking for an
ig album on tape : and the only one i could find in the stores was swamp
ophelia...

so, swamp ophelia saved me from having a total lack of the girls in my life
(at least for my first semester at uni...)

according to the channel 13 upn affiliate in
los angeles, the show will be on monday night,
tonight at 2:30(!) in the morning. (although
technically it will be on tuesday, in the
television business, that time is still
considered part of the monday broadcast day.)

i will try to record this show. if i can
record it, i will dub copies for anyone
who wants one.

more to follow...

i actually have several copies of the in step with amy on the cover. if any
one is interested in receiving one, please e-mail me privately.
i have to warn you though, that the reviewer got everything wrong. he or she
thought amy was on the cover and closed the review by inferring that the
woman with her back to the camera is amy's girlfriend.
whatever.

you can tell by looking at the picture that the people in the photo didn't
take the photo.  the liner notes give amy the photo credit, so therefore it
can't be amy in the photo.  too much logic for a monday, i guess that's why

if you mean covers of indigo girls songs, all the big commercial cover
versions are on the 'attack of the killer b-sides' series o'boots.
if you mean a boot of the indigo girls doing cover versions, there was a
great one back in the days before cdrs, as i recall...

re: the fillmore ig show listings at:
        <http://www.thefillmore.com/showlistings.html>

i checked several cities using clicktv  <http://www.clicktv.com/>
which searches tv listings by zip code; it confirmed the following
dates and times. i only checked a few cities, you can check yours.
i've listed them in date-time sequence:

phoenix       kutp    sun 08/26      10pm            (already shown)
los angeles   kcop    tue 08/28      2:30am          (mon night/tue morn)
   minneapolis   wftc    fri 08/31      midnight
san francisco         kbhk  sat 09/01        12:30am (fri night/sat morn)

otoh, i tried to find listings for wichita ks and albany ny, but i
could find nothing; maybe i missed it, or it's possible clicktv is
wrong, but i wonder if the shows have already shown in those cities.

anyway, assuming the list of *cities* is correct, you probably need
to check your local tv listings very carefully for actual dates.

i have two volumes, on tape, of ig doing covers preceeded by the original
versions.  i compiled these myself.  i'm not in a position to do a
large-scale contribution, (my dubbing deck is just about dead) but i could
make one copy of the set if someone is willing to either convert them to
cdr or take on the momentous task of handling a lot of tape trades.

hi dee,

thanks for the personal reply.  i really thought that everyone was going
nuts.  now, i see that we were talking about different photos ... i thought
that the list was disputing that the photo on the in step cover wasn't amy.
here's the link i used to view the photo:
http://www.instepnews.com/amyray.html.

i think (now) what they were saying is that the photo on the cover of stag
is susan tanner.  here's the link:
http://www.daemonrecords.com/beta/index.html.  i'll accept that.

hey everybody:

for those of you going or thinking about going to the ballet in october for
the ig project, i just
wanted to give you an idea of what the setup will be like.  apparently, the
girls will be starting
out in front and center of the stage, then when the dancers come out they
will be moved to the
side of the stage a little further back.

as far as the orchestra section goes, the center seats are in 3 sections,
left center, right center
and, of course, dead center.  left center seats have odd numbers 51-77,
right center seats have
even numbers 52-76, and the very center seats are all 100 numbers.  the rows
in that section
are lettered a-rr.  this should give us all a good idea of where we will be
ahead of time (just
in case you have a tendency to get "seat stress"  like me).  those of us
going to the matinee
show are in an excellent spot because the seats are right in the very center
and far back enough
to see everything.

for those of you who live in atlanta, i could use your help (again).  i
heard from one listee who
is going to atlanta for the first time and would like to know if anyone can
suggest some points
of interest (accessible to public transportation).  i would like to know
too, since i've only been
to a few spots.

thanks and enjoy the shows if you are going - i know i will.

i was able to record the "live at the fillmore"
30 minute program on upn. it is mainly a
behind-the-scenes video with just a few snippets
of the music.

let me state that this show is totally different
from the home video "live at fillmore" that was
released earlier this year. the upn show was taped
at the fillmore in san francisco and the home video
was taped at the fillmore in my home town of denver.

a person named gram at gram@asu.com is also offering
to make video copies of this program. he said in his
note that it will take him 2-3 weeks to get your video back to you. you won't have to wait that long with me.

it's your choice, if you want me to copy the video
e-mail me privately. all i ask is that you provide
the video and a sase. if you want to gram to copy the
show for you e-mail him. it is up to you!

-scott

p.s. i have a question for anyone who was at the
fillmore show in s.f. this year. a blond woman was
singing "closer to fine" at a mic with amy and
emily and she appears in the video. was she a
backup singer or someone from the audience?

with all this talk of covers, i have a question to ask. a friend of mine
said her sister was at an ig show and they played pink floyd's "wish you
were here." have they covered this song? who sings lead? i think, if i were
at a show and the girls played this, i'd just want to die, as the most
perfect moment of my life would have happened.

cheers,

thanks. i've been a floyd fan for a long time, so hearing the girls do that
song would just be too great. thanks to all those who replied about ig
covering it, too.

i've never heard of ig covering "hazy shade of winter" but i've always
thought they'd do a great job with it. certainly better than the travesty
the bangles made of it.

ugh. bored at work again.

lol!!

there are so many covers they could do that would make me ecstatic: almost
any s&g, stevie nicks' "landslide", neil young's "after the gold rush", bob
dylan's "if you see her, say hello", "queen jane approximately", and "sooner
or later (one of us must know)," and the smashing pumpkins "tonight". that's
just the short list.

to answer scott's question, the blond woman singing on closer to fine
is sara(h) from k's choice. i talked to her after the show - she was a
big old sweetheart.

i guess it's going to be shown in sf this friday. website says 8/27
friday, which is so weird. but it wasn't on last night.

:) amy

ps - i'm going with my hunny to the atlanta ballet. i'll have to make
sure and see some of you there!

i fear those of us in the bay area have already missed it.  my replaytv

i wonder what amy would do with a song by melissa ferrick?  like

there is one song ive wanted the ig to do for a long time.  im not sure of
the name of the original artist, but the song goes "i just want to celbrate,
another day of living.  i just want to celebrate, another day of life".  its
one of the soul groups from the 70s is all that i know.  it's a real funky
song that the girls would sound awesome singing!   anyone know the name of
the artist?

forgive the nigc but considering the lilith fair connection... i felt it was okay to make an exception!

at long last, garrison's latest, "something to hold you over," available for purchase online!

if you have missed her shows or she hasn't toured where you are, now's your
chance to get this cd.  only 1000 were made, and they're going...

cost is $15, shipping and applicable taxes included.

go to www.garrisonstarr.com and buy one today!

later,

twink!
