hi,
does anyone out there have copies of any of the previous incarnations of
the official indigo girls site or links to any that might still be on
line? even copies of single pages or single content items would be a
tremendous help.
please email me off the list.
thanks very much and have a super day,

hey kind friends,
i'd like to thank jill for plugging this sunday's show - i've met several
wonderfully talented artists on this list - shelley miller, tara lane, sarah
pinsker, arjuna greist, arin michol palmer, and carrie shafer quickly come
to mind - shelley and sarah have both performed at nietzsche's in the past,
and arjuna was a recent guest with whom i shared 3 gigs in the space of 4
days....
i'm really looking forward to a great night of music and friendship - as
always....

i thought i'd write to both you and the list to let you know of a
great new website called the internet wayback machine.
<http://web.archive.org/>
using this site, you can visit pages back as far as 1996. they seem
to have captures of ig.com information as far back as 1/25/99, i
think. check it out!

hi there!
someone asked for lyrics to the new songs. you can pretty much find
all of them on my site at
<http://www.geocities.com/kathrin_ig//indigo/indigogirls.htm>
but deconstruction of love isn't up there, yet. somebody from the
list (thanks gram:)) was nice enough to let me listen to two mp3s of
the songs (if you'd like those mp3s, i'm sure gram wouldn't mind
helping out and you can go ahead and ask me, too). so, i tried to
transcribe the lyrics but the result is very very rough. maybe
someone can fill in the missing words or correct things that he/she
heard differently?

subject: mp3 of the week: sweet gypsy/anyway, i love you
hi everyone!
this week's mp3 is sweet gypsy by amy (also known as anyway, i love
you). it's taken from her solo album "color me grey" (that was never
available on cd, it was a tape she made for friends and family, i
believe).
if you'd like to get the file, please drop me a line. same goes for
anyone who'd like to get the weekly mp3s regularly; just let me know.
anyway... here are the lyrics:
sweet gypsy
sweet gypsy blowing through my mind
and through my heart so full and empty
well these days seem strange somehow
a billion years isn't what it appears to be
now you tell me that you're losing hold of time
you can't seem to find your peace of mind
well i'm so far away and i'm trying to see you through
i can't help but feel i may be losing you
should i let you go
for your own sake
should i hold you close
for mine
anyway i love you and i couldn't be more sure
these tears cry out "please don't let go"
oh but their words
they keep haunting me
you can't build your life around a dream
well it's too late
now my world is you
there's nothing they could say or do
well i remember the first time that i fell
i swear i never thought i'd make it up again
i've been flying on the wings of your love
and i'm not getting down just to fall again
don't it seem like the road is oh so long
well everybody's moving out
and we're staying on
in this absurdity
now you don't let go of me
i'm begging you
now you don't let go of me
anyway i love you

hey y'all,
the list has been pretty quiet of late, so i hope you don't mind if i take
the opportunity to reflect on a wonderful night of music and friendship -
there's even a tiny bit of igc....
the late night jams at the shows i promote are somewhat legendary, but
whenever sarah pinsker and i share a stage, we start out jamming and never
look back - and meghan cary and brenda white proved to be willing partners
in a free fall evening of songs, stories and smiles....
we opened the night with an inspired version of get together, a song i've
been playing at every gig since sept 11 - meghan supplied most of the
harmonies to my lead vocal, and by the end of the song it was as if we were
old friends - in truth, there is something incredibly special about the kind
of friendships that develop between musicans and other creative people, as
this night was to prove over and over again....
along the way, we played several other cover songs like the weight, wild
horses and down by the river that need no introduction to ig fans....
the city girls onstage provide an interesting mix of styles from brenda's
hard rockin' wail through meghan's soulful country-tinged folk to sarah's
beautifully understated melodies - together they provide intensity to the
3rd degree....
their format of choice is a song circle, with each artist taking the lead in
sequence - several of sarah's and meghan's songs provided a rich texture for
me to weave some subtle (and not so subtle) guitar lines into their fabric,
and both women were kind enough to invite me onstage to do just that....
after the three of them combined on a rousing version of del shannon's
'runaway' (via bonnie raitt's version), i opened my brief set with an
unplanned version of roy orbison's 'oh, pretty woman' before launching into
a brief anti-war set consisting of phil ochs' 'there but for fortune' (with
an added verse), my own '2 wrongs never make a right' (with a new verse
written especially for our dear friend jerry falwell), and p.f. sloan's 'eve
of destruction' (with 2 new verses and a partial rewrite of 2 of the
original verses...) the crowd's attentive and appreciative reaction
prompted meghan to play her beautifully moving "fly and be free' - a song
she said she doesn't normally play in a bar setting - but nietzsche's is no
ordinary bar....
the second city girls set included my friends billie williams and jae
leblanc on african percussion, with guitarist alla ivanchikova sitting in on
lead on a couple of numbers, and engaging in a spirited guitar duel with
sarah - who later contributed a sweet, bluesy acoustic guitar solo to a
medley of buffalo springfield's 'for what it's worth', jagger-richards' 'you
can't always get what you want' and traffic's 'feeling alright' - the medley
also featured some incredible sax by olympia, wa transplant kim preston,
with all the assembled musicians and many club patrons joining in on the
choruses....
meghan and i closed the night with a version of the beatles' 'let it be',
magically interwoven with bob marley's 'no woman, no cry' - but the night
wasn't over quite yet....
while we were breaking down the equipment, we were treated to an wonderful
impromptu performance by chris chandler and anne feeney, who had just
finished a show at mohawk place, another nearby club....
the smiles and memories are priceless....
peace,
tim
