hi everybody!
=20
i am still buzzing with excitement over the new ig tour, especially as i
managed to buy row *a* tickets today for the show in dublin!! never
been there before, so i=92m looking forward to that. yeah! of the =
three
shows i=92m going to, this is the first one that has assigned seating, =
so
i=92m doubly thrilled! :-d still can=92t find any ticket info for the
glasgow show. anybody have any news?? =20
=20
ok, i=92ve calmed down a little bit to write about the cons songbook =
that
i received last week. i ordered it 6-7 weeks ago, btw, it=92s taken =
this
long for airmail postage! anyhoo, it=92s well worth it. if you look
beyond that scary girl on the cover, the contents are great. lots of
colour photos of the new band, during the recording process, backstage
and some of which we=92ve already seen from the tour diary that amy =
wrote
for their website a while ago; it features some of the halloween photos
from there. i did note that of the 15 colour photos, amy only appears
in one of them. this suggests to me that maybe amy took the other
photos as the majority of them do not have photo credits. there are
also black and white photos on the lyrics page of each song and =
there=92s
a pretty funny one of amy sticking her tongue out at the camera whilst
leaning into view. =20
=20
as for the musical content, well it=92s split into two parts again =96 =
the
main vocal and piano parts with the guitar tab section at the back. i
like this format and it works well for me. all the songs on the album
are featured, including philosophy of loss, which is fully tabbed out.
i=92m working on that one now! all of the songs have been tabbed out
according to the instrument used, so all you mandolin, bazouki and banjo
players will enjoy that. there=92s a very funny (to me anyway)
description of how to turn your guitar into a mandolin. here=92s a
snippet =96 =93to play the mandolin part for gone again on your guitar, =
your
high e string should remain tuned to e. lower the pitch of your second
string a whole step to a. next tune your third string down 2=bd steps =
to
d. tune your fourth string down 3 1/2 steps to g. now place your capo
at the 12th fret and play the parts on your first 4 strings. your
guitar is instantly transformed into a mandolin!=94 hmmm, yeah, okay.
;-) so far, all the transcriptions sound pretty accurate, although most
songs seem to incorporate alternate tunings, so it=92s not like pick up
your guitar anytime and jam easily, but it=92s all good fun. =20
=20
oh, i just want to let everybody know that my email address has changed.
it=92s now indigo2@blueyonder.co.uk the blue theme kinda works well =
there
don=92t ya think!? ;-)

just an fyi -
actually - parts of this show made a brief appearence on a mtv documentary
and have been shown outside america - the dvd was released tuesday @
bestbuy (everywhere else in two weeks)
but it should be a great video - most of the hits will be b'cast and - well
- i thought the concert was great (i was at the taping).
just one of things you may want to watch notices. the concert is a mix of
6/5 and 6/6/01 - boston.
(not like i am rushing out to buy a dvd player tomorrow am since i received
the dvd as a gift for my b-day, not like i'd be a sucker for low prices or
anything.)
igc: well, i'm sure amy or emily has a u2 cd somewhere...

hi gang,
if you want in on the xmas card exchange this year, email me by this weekend as
i will be sending out the lists early next week. if you want to participate,
please email me your name and address. this is really a lot of fun and a way
to express your creative side. for those of you who are not into the
commercial side of xmas, it is a great way to celebrate in a nontraditional
way. also, you do not have to send a xmas card, but can send something
hannakah, winter solstice, holidays greeting, etc...however you feel.

hey...
<<anyone here playing around with vcd stuff, i just got a dvd and actually

authored one, or wanna colaborate on releases???>>
janet doe put together a great set of vcds - they're only pc compatible
though, but it should be very easy to convert them to dvd compatible discs.
very easy indeed.
<<my first one will probably be the disney special - not because neil is in
it - but it is something i will watch again and again...>>
of course, should one do that, it would be a wonderful idea to combine the
uk and us versions (one different song on each: chickenman/dead man's hill)
to make it the most complete. you could always sync it up to in with the out
crowd cd for maximum quality...
i'm such a geek sometimes.

hey folksters
anybody out there ever been to the soiled dove in denver? i told a friend i'd
try to find out what i could.
oh, and who else is super-excited about the voices on the verge tour? if you
haven't seen them yet, folks, this is your chance. four formidable female
folkies in the round, one of whom is sometime indigo protege rose polenzani and
all of whom are rising stars (and deservedly so) - what's not to like? they're
even better in person than on the live cd, which is saying something because
that is one mighty fine album. that cheering that you don't hear in the
background, because they edited it out? that's me. and jillyc, and probably a
few other listees to boot. that *alone* should make it worth the cd price. :)

p.s. speaking of close encounters of the 3-d kind, anybody who attends our

i was sent this from one of my ebay buyers last night. but i have my av
program check for new defs at least twice a week so my avp caught it and
took care of it for me.
if you get an email from someone you know with an attachment you are not
expecting, do not open it. just delete it and erase it. the url above will
tell you what to look for and how to clean your maching should you become
infected. this worm drops a trojan horse on your machine and mails itself
out to everyone in your address book.
i encourage everyone to update their virus defs now. it is pretty much
running rampant in the ebay community right now (meaning quite a few of us
have had our avp's detect it and remove it for us).
sincerely,
ryan

hey everyone,
i think this is a great idea, so i'm passing it along.
~robbin
*******forwarded message******************************
dear bro friends,
we have a unique opportunity for you to make a real impact this
holiday season! as you may have heard, the national salvation army
has recently rescinded its domestic partner benefits, because of
pressure from right wing groups like concerned women for america and
focus on the family. this comes after the exposure, earlier this
year, of the salvation army's backroom deal to support bush's faith-
based charity initiative only if they could continue to legally
discriminate against gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered people.
basic rights oregon is working with other progressive and gay rights
groups across the country to let the salvation army know that our
communities don't support this kind of discrimination, no matter
who's doing it. we are launching a campaign to distribute "dollars"
that bear this message, to let the salvation army know that potential
contributors won't be giving as long as they're practicing
discrimination.
we've heard from state-wide groups all across the country who got our
email with these dollars and will be distributing them, as well as
some groups who are doing the same thing with different dollars. we
got these dollars from another website and are just helping with the
national distribution. there is a lot of interest nationally in this
project!
how do you get started? just go to our web page at
www.basicrights.org <http://www.basicrights.org/> and follow the links--you'll get a full color
page with six $3 bills (it's a reference to "queer as a three-dollar
bill"). just print it out, put a few in your wallet, and the next
time you pass one of the little red buckets... well, contribute!
it's important to understand that while the national salvation army
has made some very bad decisions, the people who are ringing the
bells and doing local work are not our enemies, so please be kind to
them. in most cases, they are people motivated by the true spirit of
giving to others, and not promoting the national agenda that includes
discrimination.
have fun and happy holidays!
all of us at basic rights oregon

remember, there are two things that keep us oppressed: them and us. we are
half of the equation. there will not be a magic day when we wake up and
its now ok to express ourselves publicly. we must make that day ourselves,
by speaking out publicly first in small numbers, then in greater numbers,
until its simply the way things are and no one thinks twice.
