i am checking on other people's experience with the boot offer that was made
in july for 11 discs of ig music. i sent my discs to chad west, along with
several subsequent inquiries, and i have received no response from him. i
emailed marian rowan to see if she knew anything, and got no response.

needless to say, i am frustrated and feeling like i got ripped off. did other
people get their discs?

mime-version: 1.0
content-type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"
content-transfer-encoding: 7bit

hey all!

mp3 of the week is cold as ice.

everybody who'd like to get it just needs to drop me a line about it.

in case you want to be added to the weekly mp3 list and get the mp3s
regularly, please let me know about that, too.

i've had major probs with my e-mail storage... as in: all my mail from years
and years of e-mailing is gone. so, if anybody has e-mailed me recently
about an mp3 which didn't make it to him/her or has mailed me about some
other issue and hasn't heard from me, it's not because i'm ignoring you. i
simply don't have your mail anymore. please, just contact me again, k?
thanks.
the mp3 list should still be intact though but in case you used to be on it
and don't find the mp3 in your mailbox tonight, please let me know about it.

here are the lyrics:

cold as ice

i don't think you understand
oh the rhythm of my heart
there's a strong line to mind and soul
i feel it tearing apart
i've been searching for new words
gonna make you understand in a different way
when i told you i'd hang on forever
i threw my choice away
and it's cold as ice
i can't let go
it's cold as ice
baby but i need your love

and i wish i could have been the first one
oh to walk out the door
the more i find myself to blame
the less there is to come back for
you wish you could have been the last one
to tell me how you really feel
cause when you closed the door oh deep inside
my heart it still seemed so sincere
and it's cold as ice
i can't let go oh
it's cold as ice
baby but i need your love

it's cold as ice
i can't let go
it's cold as ice
baby but i need your love

if there's a message to this madness
well it still seems quite unclear
if i really need to save myself
why can't i just walk out of here
there's a message in your eyes
and you make it perfectly plain
either i leave your heart behind
or crack beneath this freezing
freezing freezing freezing rain
cold as ice
(cold as ice)
i can't let go
(but i can't let go)
cold as ice
baby but i
but i need your love

all right
i said i'm cold
cold i'm cold
(cold as ice)
cold i'm cold
(baby)
cold i'm cold
(cold as ice darling)
cold as ice
(cold as ice)
oh no but i can't let go
(i said i'm freezing, freezing)
oh no no i can't let go
(freezing, freezing, freezing, freezing)
no no i'm cold as ice
(whoa whoa baby yeah)
i'm cold as ice
but i can't let go
no

this is a pet peeve. i am too tired to really do anything about it - but -
my friend sent this link

http://sophiedrx.free.fr/index2.htm

it is a french ig site - it is done nicely - she uses alot of scans of epic
stuff and my photo i put up with the music pad feature i did in april.
which i didnt finish because my photos from the amy solo tour are horrid.

but this site has my copyrighted photo i took of amy @ uconn 2/17/00 during
their q&a.  people wonder why photographers dont put up photos online -
this is the reason folks. i mean there are some wonderful fan pictures (amy
putnam, amy swenson, ryan blackhawk, others) but i dunno, i am just bummed,
i mean - what incentive is there for me to put up a set of photos from any
ig show if people do not at least give credit when its due. even people who
subscribe to copyleft (free to distribute, give credit to who designed it -
a big www.indymedia.org thing) like photo by (fill in your name.)

sigh- sorry for the ranting - the site looks to have 2002 ig euro tour info.

yeah, that happens a lot.  lisa's picture site
has been ripped off and sold to the highest
bidder on ebay too many times to name.  i had a
picture i gave her to post of a portrait ig had
done, and that ended up on a mousepad for sale on
ebay.  it's pretty much impossible to fight
unless you put a big "copyright" mark right
across a & e's faces.  it's a shame the bad
apples have to spoil it for everyone.

mike et al--
i know how it feels.. i was curious and was doing a net search of myself a
while ago, and found my writing and quotes and poetry sprinkled around the
world wide web.  why does this bother me so much?  because the things i
found were things i'd written either to this list (very few) or to listees
in private email (most of the quotes).  you know, you get in an off-topic
conversation with someone from this list, you find you're in similar
relationship situations or existential angst or whatever, and you write to
each other to support each other?  well, i did that, and i spouted off some
manifesto-ish/ poetic things.  apparently someone liked it and just had to
send it to someone else, who sent it to someone else (mind you this is
private email), and so on, until i wind up on somebody's quote page
somewhere in the vast time and space continuum, without my permission.  i
don't recall being asked if they could reprint my words.  sometimes they
credit me, sometimes they cite me as 'anyonymous.'  (do you know how that
kills me?  that i'm anonymous?  god.)

i am sorry if i ranted a bit last night, it was hastily written and if i
missed a few details, i apologise.

thanks for all the offerings of support - i guess i ought to be lucky that
mousepads arent showing up on ebay with my photos on them.

and even the act of taking my photo is irritating enough - i hate that when
i design a page/flyer /site, someone just takes a photo and sticks it on a
site using like a really cheesy design or template, it just cheapens my
work. i dunno - i mean - if the person would have asked - i would have been
flattered, it is an strange feeling.

as for personal emails like jill talked about - i actually had an editor
beg me to use a basic rant for a story - i mean completely written really
fast and - it was a kick ass publication - but she asked - it was really a
wonderful gesture, and such. i certainly wouldnt want my emails posted for
the world to see how dorky i truly am...

hey all -
i know at least one listee who uses the rem peer 2 peer file sharing thing
murmurs.com has done - i um, am working on a mp3 show offering (possibly
multiple shows, but not at least till this weekend)

1. does anyone have a good peer 2 peer setup where people currently trade
ig artists?

2. anyone want to try something rudimentary - like a aol instant messanger
setup where everyone uses a screenname like igjoe igmike or igp2p (your
nick here) so people could have a name and a time to trade files, or ...not.

3. i am procrastining - i feel like i am back in college or something (and
i even have an assignment due at midnight.)

4. would an yahoo group be worthwhile - moderated or something  (neil, do
the honors)

5. i suck at mailing things to certain listees, i really really do.

6. umm. i gotta work on a nomination. ttyl

hey y'all,

one last time, i've gotta remind you and urge you to
come out to the commonbond show in chicago on dec. 5,
if you're in the area, that is.  (there are more shows in the
midwest after that one also.)  if you love ig, you'll love
these ladies too.  they are from the washington, dc area,
and if you're originally from the east coast or have friends
there, you have probably heard them or heard great things
about them.   here's your chance to see a female acoustic
duo with that special "something" that might remind
you of what it would have been like seeing indigo girls
live in an intimate venue before they got that big record deal.
even with the likening to indigo girls, there's tons of originality
here.  with 4 cds out, a fifth coming out in early 2002,
and a strong knack for songwriting, soaring harmonies,
and guitars that rock, commonbond is the complete
package!   please join us for a great night of
music!  commonbond will not disappoint!  with music
that mixes sounds and influences of blues,
folk, rock, swing, country, pop....it's all here!

commonbond, from washington, dc
live at girlbar
2625 n. halsted, chicago
wednesday, dec. 5, 9:30 p.m.
no cover!!

go to www.commonbondmusic.com for more info
about the midwest tour. here's a synopsis of the schedule:

thursday, dec. 6 - alverno college, milwaukee, 7:30 p.m.
friday, dec. 7 - cornell college, mt. vernon, ia, 6 p.m.
saturday, dec. 8 - the mill, iowa city, 9 p.m.
sunday, dec. 9 - java escafe, 14 w. mifflin, madison, wi, 1 p.m.

thanks, y'all!

hey all. a quick question.  i am trying to make a video tape of various melissa etheridge appearances for a friend of mine.  i have some stuff but i was wondering if anyone had a video of her stuff.  just random stuff like appearances on dave, or jay leno or vh1 etc. i am especially looking for the "i  wanna be in love" video, but really any of her videos.  i have ig videos and boots to trade.  email me privately...thanks to all in advance...

16 january - 3 february 2002
now in its ninth year, celtic connections is a music festival of

connections attracts visitors from throughout the world and affirms
glasgow's place on the cultural map.

the festival comprises performances from big name artists as well as
providing a showcase for new talent. these world class events take place
in venues across the city. celtic connections is also a social and
interactive event that provokes discussion, informs participants and
initiates cultural exchange across the city in communities and schools.
at the very heart of the festival is the celtic connections education
programme. last year 12,000 attended or participated in the programme
during the festival alone.

the schedule for celtic connections 2002 is currently being finalised.
please keep checking this page for updates. artists include: alboka with
special guest martá sebestyén, archie fisher, bagad kemper, blues night
with tam white shoestring band, brian mcneill, capercaillie, carlos
nunez, cherish the ladies,

match i thought.  anyone else have any thoughts?
