hi all!
this is probably ancient news (since it's a song from 2000) but i just
stumbled across it last night and thought i'd share in case there are other
unknowing souls like me out there;).
emily and michelle seem to have co-written a song called sleepy sunday
morning and it's beautiful. emily seems to be singing background vocals on
it,
too.
you can listen to the whole song on daemonrecords.com and here are the
lyrics:
sleepy sunday morning (malone / sailers 2000)
pick up the paper in the morning light
carry it upstairs through your sleepy sunday eyes
reading the front page makes you sad, you say
we are the lucky ones, we haven't got a care today
and i don't feel right, and i don't feel whole
i couldn't sleep last night, cause i'm all alone
when i imagine you and your baby blues
in the morning sun
i get those sleepy sunday morning baby blues
i tossed and turned last night, i burned and crashed
buried it in there in the shadows of the past
i got my room serviced - i got breakfast, too
got a constant stream of visitors, but all i want is you
and i don't feel right, and i don't feel whole
i couldn't sleep last night, cause i'm all alone
when i imagine you and your baby blues
in the morning sun
i get those sleepy sunday morning eyes blues
constantly moving and still looking back
greasing my wheels on a slippery track
you pull me back- i can gently slow down
you're the only peace and sweet release that i have found
pick up the paper, i unlock the door
carry me upstairs, leave my luggage on the floor
crawl into bed with you where it's safe and warm
i am the lucky one, i say as i drift away
and i feel just right, and completely whole
i slept good last night, cause i'm back at home
and the kettle sings, and the cats line up
i can't believe it's true
in your sleepy sunday morning baby blues

be well,
kathrin

hkf's,

in answer to madonajk, i offer this thread.
one of my favorite songs is from "back on the bus y'all"
it's a cool cd, and its got "all along the watch tower" from the live at the
uptown video.
the thrid or fourth track is "you and me and the 10,000 wars". i don't have
to tell you guys that it's from the nomads cd (on which my favorite song ever
is on "world falls")
i know i'm all over the map here.... let me get back on the right train
revised...
you and me and the 10,000 wars, a nice song doesn't get much recognition (my
lyrical analysis on it to come) on the cd it's a nice song, and the banter
between the girls voices as they exchange profound truths and living ironies
flows comfortably by.
when you listen to yamat10kw..... (wow, now that's a great screen name!
yamat10kw@nis.ig) ... when you listen to it on botby, the banter between the
girls is absoultly blood boiling.
emily comes on strong propelling her voice throught air carrying the words
"the evil ego and the vice of pride"
then amy sings...... amy...........damn, amy comes out and blasts a hole in
the vail between the voice in the stero speakers and the indigo girls being
in your living room. she explodes into the microphone "is there ever anything
else that makes us take our different sides".
wow!!!
that's a song that on the live version, is just compleatly better then the
original.
yeah!
joe

-oh yeah, and i love like every live version there is of chickenman

:)
hey joe!
i recorded it while it was playing on my realplayer. the quality isn't
perfect but definitely okay.
if you'd like the file, i'll send it to you, no prob.
let me know:).
anyone else who'd like this mp3 just drop me a line, too:).
normally i don't mp3 stuff that's available on commercial releases but since
i bet everyone here will want to get this on cd eventually, i think it's
okay to send the mp3 out as a teaser.
for people who have a good enough connection, you can listen to it on your
real player, on the daemon site.
and btw... i listened to all of michelle's streamed songs on daemon from her
more recent albums and they all are great, if you ask me. i ordered two of
her newer cds right away (i just had 2 cds her older stuff before and one band
de soleil cd). so, go check her stuff out. and if you like it go ahead and
buy the cd:). unfortunately since michelle is no daemon artist her cds aren't
9.99$ like all daemon releases are this month but 12$ isn't too much either,
i think.
be well,
sorry 'bout the rambling,
kathrin

hey all-
i'm trying to get our housed tidied up for the holidays and i have the
3-pack released by artist direct of ig, nis and strang fire. my husband got
me the remastered versions of all these, so the little box set hasn't gotten
much use. i have tried to find them a home among my family and friends, to
no avail. i just want them to have a good home...they are too nice to just
sit here and not be enjoyed.
with the holidays, i thought someone on the list might like to give them
as a christmas gift...the box is in perfect shape and if the individual cds
were wrapped, that has been removed...but the cases, inserts and cds are all
in like new condition. i don't want to sell them, but i'll trade boots for
them to cover postage. if i get a quick response, i can get them in the mail
asap and they should arrive in time. so if you have a friend, neighbor,
co-worker, kid, niece, nephew...anyone who you think would like to be
introduced to ig, this would do the trick.
thanks!

hey all, i just had to get in on this one. i discovered michelle about a
year & 1/2 ago. she is absolutely amazing. her music is very easy to
relate to and i would consider it "feel good" music, the kind of music that
you can't sit still while listening to. you know how emily has those lyrics
that are so simple, yet absolutely profound at the same time. so does
michelle. if you don't want to spend the $$$ on a new cd for someone that
you have never heard before, check out ebay, you can sometimes find them
there. michelle even sells some of her own stuff on ebay. if you like ig,
give michelle a real listen, you will be hooked.
ok, back to work

does morpheus still work? has it been "shut down" or is it just my

hi everybody,
i went an excellent lucy kaplansky show last night in london. her
support act was alice peacock, a minnesota native who now lives in
chicago, whom i hadn't heard of before. anyhoo, she was a really
pleasant surprise - good songs, good stage presence and funny banter.
suffice to say, i left the show with her cd. :-)
but it was when she was introducing the last song of her set that i
nearly fell off my chair. she said that it was a new song which she had
co-written with kristen hall and emily saliers!!!!! it's a song called
"imagination". you can certainly hear the kristen hall in that song
musically and the theme of the lyrics must certainly be emily - about
missing loved ones at home whilst on the road. so that was a treat.
the song is mid-tempo and will be appearing on alice's new album due
next spring.
i spoke with alice after her set, intrigued by this link and she told me
that she's written a few songs with kristen and was thrilled to be
sitting in the same room as emily writing that song. but she told me
that both kristen and emily will be contributing vocals to the new
album! :-)

. . . the london lister who saw lucy kaplansky the other night. i deleted
all my ig mail yesterday, but i am sorry i did - would the person who gave
the wonderful review of the lucy kaplansky concert in london a few nights
ago get in touch with me please? i have a friend (who's on another list
i'm on) who attended that show as well, and he would like to get in touch
with you (if that's all right with you - he thinks you might be the one who
was recording the show and he'd like to talk to you). i hope you don't
think this is a crazy request - and if you don't mind i'll give your
address to my friend fred who's from london . . . . thanks.
