hey folks,

here's the review that ryan mentioned

indigo girl amy ray goes solo here and though she's sans longtime
partner emily saliers, she "won't be a pawn," as "late bloom"'s
lyrics so pointedly state. instead, she craftily maintains the
pop standards that attracted fans to her band in the first place:
tough girl stance, accessible melodies, and hook-oriented song
structure. ray's not rewriting the rock 'n' roll rule books here
and there's not much new to discover in this fairly formulaic
pop-rocker. it's basically watered-down melissa etheridge, but
kudos to the arranger, who toys with the musical dynamics enough
to lend subtle sonic hues to an otherwise bland songscape. the
fuzzy lead guitar sounds vaguely dated and strangely amateurish,
resulting in a track that seems more akin to the stage of a local
college bar than the halls of a major record company.
