there was an indigo girls concert in philly on wednesday night. and it was
awesome, too. i won't write much (no, really!) because it's 1:30 and i'm
exhausted from the trip back from the drew u show (which to me was basically a
shadow of the evening before as far as ig were concerned, but well worth
attending because drew's accompanying production of the vagina monologues was
so amazing) but the philly show was faboo. very respectful crowd that went
silent in the right places and sang when invited (on-key, even, as amy
observed) and amy and emily were very clearly enjoying playing for such a
crowd. they both seemed a little spacey at first, but snapped in
setlist, as near as i can remember (mostly out of order, probably with some
gaps, so everyone else please jump in):
reunion
hammer and a nail
moment of forgiveness
(here's where the order gets confused)
yield
she's saving me
become you
collecting you
(this definitely won the "oh my god so much better than i expected" award -
i'm very fond of the album track, but i do find it a bit flaccid, whereas live
this was absolutely searing)
closer to fine
our deliverance
(i know the order is right on these last ones)
power of two
galileo
----
kid fears
and there must have been another amy song in there somewhere, because that
seems imbalanced. oh, it was such a good show. such big happies. and i got to
see a lot of listfolk, which is always nice.
thanks for signing postcards, y'all!
mandy
p.s. if anybody booted this show and feels inclined to trade, please please
please drop me a line.
p.p.s. just for the record, i got sulli to sign both the clear air and the
forest protection postcards. i feel like a total rockstar.

here's the text of the review:
it was around 5 p.m. when my car was gassed up and ready to go. i had a
subway sandwich in lap, radio tuned to some random rock station, and digital
camera in bag. philly, here i come!
neil greeted me at the door with the prized ticket--and off we stepped, into
the throng of waiting indigo girls fans. and there they were, the eager, the
faithful--smashed up next to the stage. fortunately, we were blessed with no
hassle, thanks to neil's bride, andi, and her friend valerie saving us spots
circa center, sixth "row" back. neil said we came in just as the first song
off their new "become you" cd was playing.
sulli would pop on and off stage like a tease, and then at around 8:30-ish,
amy and emily took the stage, and we were blessed with a winter reprieve.

some random comments i remember:
emily mentioned that they always love playing philly. their first time in
philadelphia at a place called "dooby's", they opened for a band called
ocean blue, six white boys. emily: "i wonder whatever happened to them."
neil said(to andi, val, and me): "they grew up to become n*sync," and we
laughed.
amy said that she wrote ozilline to cheer up her grandmother when she was
alive, and also now.
"where's kate?" amy said, "happy birthday, kate. we don't sing happy
birthday very well--it's a too happy a song for us."
the encore was dedicated to michael stipe. and we sang along in his place.
i've been out of the indigo girls' loop since my solo trek last august from
newport to wolftrap, so it was my first time to hear moment of forgiveness,
collecting you, become you, and our deliverance. wow. i can't wait until my
pre-ordered copy arrives from amazon.com, along with stag. it is so
wonderful to hear the girls during the wintertime. @}->->-- ~diane wong

hey everybody, a question:
does anyone know the background of "life's so strange"? such a sad
song, i thought it might be about emily's sister, but then it sounds
like a lost love song in a way. there is no info about this song on
lifeblood. thanks in advance!
and on a closing note, the small shows sound great - how i wish i wasn't
this responsible adult with this highly committed life and i can't just
up and go when i please! those of you who can do that - enjoy it while
you can! real life is hard!

good morning to all,
i rarely post on the list, although i've been on it since '94. after seeing a&e last night at the paradise, i was struck by how much they enjoyed the crowd. the exchange between them and us was so charged, it was almost tangible.
i think this is the smallest venue that i've seen them at. there was this glaze that came over them as they listened to us singing along with them. it made them so happy! (it probably could've gone on all night because we love making them happy.)
they said they were extending their setlist because we inspired them so much. i'm waiting for an exact count from someone out there. i come up w/15 but i think i've left some out.
i also haven't been to a ga show other than newport in a long time so my back is hurting but it was so worth it!

the show was taped - at least oine source - maybe

the show did seem to live up to the hype of getting

them in a few years...

<<i had nothing better to do than wolf down a bunch of woodpecker hard
cider>>
mmmm... woodpecker...
<<so my friend said that she was disappointed in their personal
connection with their audience. on stage, their connection is great.
but offstage, they don't even look at us. does anybody else get this
impression?>>
here's my take:
you only have so much of yourself to give. the more people who want a
piece, the less each person gets (and you're gonna run out before
everyone is satisfied).
i'm sure amy and emily are really nice, friendly people (though we all
now that everyone has off-days) but you can only take it so far. i'm
sure they hung out at the aftershow thing and schmoosed. sometimes you
just gotta know the right people to get in. if word got out that every
show was a meet-and-greet lovefest outside the tourbus, then there'd
just be even more people for them to meet and greet.
i think i finally realized this when we were waiting backstage for jewel
to come out (don't laugh - i was keeping a friend company, in england,
which at the time was free from the jewel-mania that was permiating
america at the time). she eventually came out - there were maybe ten
people waiting - and although she talked and signed and stuff she never
made eye contact.
if you want a satisfying artist experience, you're not going to get it
outisde a 1000+ seater venue. go to small folk venues, catch some new
artists and connect with *them* - i know they'd appreciate it. y'all
probably know that we host a house concert series, and although it's
sometimes a pain in the ass to organize (for example, when are y'all
gonna come?) we've gotten to know some great artists and all of them
have been super-nice, friendly people. i'm honoured to call folks like
beth amsel, jennifer kimball, ben demerath and nancy falkow my friends.
every one of them took the time to talk to whoever wanted to talk.
they're not better than amy and emily for doing that - there are just
less people making demands on their time.
and don't get me started on the whole indigo girls comedy hour i started
riffing on with mandy the other day...

hi everyone,
the boston show was awesome!! the crowd was great :) we met some really cool
people there and found a bunch of used guitar and mandolin strings....we were
also lucky enough to go to the meet & greet after the show and the girls were
so nice!! we have met them before, but this was the best time! we got
pictures w/ them and they signed some stuff for us, it was very cool! i can't
remember the set list, but i was sooo happy to hear ghost, i think it was
first time i have heard it live, and it was beautiful! usually, when bands
talk about how great the audience is and how great the singing is i think
that they are full of it, but honestly, you could tell how impressed w/ the
crowd they were! i can't wait till the summer tour, i heard them say on wbos,
that they would probably be doing at least 1 maybe 2 shows at
harborlights....very cool, i just hope it is not pride weekend again, that
was a nightmare!
we got some great pictures, i will post them when my hangover dissipates...
have a great day all,
janet

there is no way you can convince me that the people with laminates told
people to stand on chairs and block the view. standing is one thing.
standing on chairs goes above and beyond acceptable concert behavior. there
are a couple hundred more people there than the couple dozen or so up front
who sounds like did a fairly good job of ruining it for the rest of the
folks. yes, i do have to agree that the crowds do seem to be getting ruder.
i get in line ungodly early for the shows here because i (usually) like the
people i meet. these are the diehards that wait 14+ hours for the show and
it is a communal experience. but i am tired of the rivalry and the cutting.
sometimes it feels like rival gangs in high school or something. i like how
the pier handled it last year. you got to save a space for your so and that
was it. and taking shifts was not acceptable, however leaving for potty
breaks or grabbing a bite to eat (in line) were kewl. and no, you did not
have the right to block the view of the people behind you by standing in
your chair or getting up on someone else's shoulders. oh and i usually wait
the 14+ hours so i can get 2nd or 3rd row as 1st is far too competitive and
it hurts my neck injury.

if you followed the thread through to the conclusion, you might have noticed that another person pointed out that the people standing on the chairs were not in front of the stage, but over on the side. the people with laminates did not tell anyone to stand on a chair to block anyone. they did not tell anyone to stand up and block anyone's view either. they just told everyone in the area that it would make the girls happy if everyone stood up and danced and sang along, and enjoyed the show. it wasn't their, nor the girls, intention to piss anyone off.
>standing is one thing.
> standing on chairs goes above and beyond acceptable concert behavior. there

i completely agree. standing on chairs is inexcusable. also inexcusable is sitting on someone's shoulders, talking at full volume with your friends after being asked to be quiet by the artist themselves, but people do it anyway.
this club was a bit rude to all the indigo fans, and i think everyone who had to deal with them will agree. everyone was a bit tense that night, including the girls, especially after the memphis show. i think it tends to bring them down if the crowd just sits and applauds politely after each song, or worse, talk and ignore them completely while they are playing.
these people were really just trying to get this crowd to help them help the girls enjoy playing for us. sure, they could stand there and sing closer to fine, galileo, and least complicated till their fingers fall off, but i think they prefer to play a show with feeling, along with some of the new songs for us.
no one in front of the stage, or in front of the girls were standing on chairs. no one with a laminate asked anyone to do anything except enjoy the show. i do know this, because i was there, and i was one of the people asked to enjoy the show in this manner.
i personally hate general admission shows, and every time i go to one, swear i'll never go to another. now the girls just need to cooperate, and never book another one =)

i was there, too -- maybe our definitions differ. i consider anyone within
ten feet of the stage to be in front, especially given the very small stage
at 3rd and lindsley. there _were_ people in front of the stage, on chairs.
there were two sides to the stage -- the shorter part facing the bar, the
longer going to the back wall; the restaurant is l-shaped. about a third of
this longer space, towards the wall, was blocked by people standing on
chairs. though they were were eventually asked to sit by security, they
kept waving hats and beer bottles, and getting up on their chairs again, so
the the majority of us sitting in the long part of the l were unable to get
more than an occasional glimpse of amy and emily.
patty griffin's going to be at the same venue -- i'm getting tickets
tomorrow -- and i'm hoping that i don't end up whacking myself on the head
for going to another small-venue, general-admission show.
>i personally hate general admission shows, and every time i go to one,

woohoo! that would be _great_!

indigo girls in harmony with old sound
by sarah rodman
friday, march 1, 2002
amy ray and emily saliers have known each other since they were 10 and have
been playing together as the indigo girls for more than 15 years.
while familiarity sometimes breeds contempt - especially in the tight
confines of a tour bus - ray says with a laugh, ''we actually want to choke
one another less and less as time goes on.''
which is good news for the gloriously harmonious folk-pop duo's fans. no
doubt those fans will be singing along loudly as they pack a sold-out
paradise tonight, joining ray and saliers at an acoustic coming-out party for
their eighth album, ''become you,'' due out march 12. chances are excellent
those longtime fans will love the atlanta-based pair's latest release. after
1999's more sonically experimental ''come on now social,'' the new album is a
return to the bedrock indigo girls sound, contrasting ray's tough southern
soul with salier's more ethereal musings. sweet, funny, brutal, thoughtful
and expertly played, ''become you'' ranks with their best work.
ray chalks up the decidedly down-home sound of her contributions to the album
- including the bluesy ''bitter root,'' the dusty tex-mex of ''nuevas
senoritas'' and the country jangle of ''yield'' - to the girls'
back-to-basics approach.
''we were thinking about doing an acoustic record off and on for the last
four years,'' ray says from the san francisco-bound bus. ''something that was
more rootsy. and i was saving these songs because i wanted to do them in the
context of a record that i thought was very organic and stripped down.''
the album's resolute title track is one of ray's best, detailing the conflict
between being a proud southerner yet rejecting the region's long-held racial
prejudices. ray's favorite comment about the song came from some south
carolinian friends who had been defending the flying of the confederate flag.
''i played this song for them by a campfire one night and they said, 'it's
like (neil young's) ''southern man'' and (lynyrd skynyrd's) ''sweet home
alabama'' in one song,'' ' '' recounts ray with a laugh. ''they got it
because that's exactly what the song is meant to encompass, those two ideas
of 'i love this place but i am not going to stand for these things.' ''
ray says she and saliers never envisioned the success they've had or thought
they would make it to the point where they'd release a retrospective as they
did in 2000. in fact, says ray with a laugh, ''we're kind of amazed that we
haven't been dropped (from major label epic records), because not only have
our records waxed and waned in a big way, our career has definitely waned
more of late than it's waxed.''
having connections to the boss helps, though. ''there's usually some person
in the company that feels some personal connection to the band,'' says ray of
their good fortune. ''they just couldn't live with themselves, they think,
'if i dropped this band, my wife would kill me,' '' she says with a laugh,
''because it is usually their wife.''
the return to clubs for this record release tour has been a lot of fun, says
ray. ''we go in and play the record (over the p.a.) and then we go out and do
a bunch of old songs and then some of the new stuff and we answer questions
for the audience. it's just a short, loose show, it's real fun.''
ray says fans who couldn't get tickets for the paradise show can rest assured
the indigo girls will return for a proper tour this summer.

george bush will be in minneapolis this monday, march 4th at 5:00 p.m.

get an old white sheet. make a ghost costume by cutting a hole in the
middle for your face. paint in black on the front the name of something
that bush has destroyed, i.e. "first amendment--killed by bush." put
ghost makeup on your face, i.e. whole face white with black eyes and

please bring them for those who don't get the message until too late.
everyone meet at peavey plaza at 4:45 p.m. we will march en masse to the

so there's this new thing on the official website... in addition to some more
setlists, there are all these crazy photographs that amy's taken throughout the
day of certain shows. not concert pictures, obviously, since amy's the one
taking the pictures (mostly), but things like her new shoes. they're a good
time. i'm such a dork.
oh, and if anybody has decent-quality boots of either philadelphia or anaheim
or of the nyc show from june of 2000 (yeah, i'm still trying for that one)
email me for a trade, ok?

hkf's,
atlanta hotels pretty close to l5p and variety
playhouse. link 1: the comfort inn buckhead is the
cheapest (60) i've seen and pretty close (next to a
strip club too, but they're all over the place in
atl). sleep inn buckhead, sidney marcus blvd, is in a
slightly better neighborhood but it's a little farther
away and more expensive.
second link, holiday inn decatur & holiday inn midtown
seem pretty good. (midtown is a little farther away)
and holiday inn express - emory univ. looks to be
pretty close and cheaper than everything except the
comfort inn buckhead. (all of these, incl. above, are
about 15 min. away, with the midtown one about 20).
i'd probably lean towards the emory one - but that's
just a guess & a imho.
third link, days inn, the midtown one is pretty good
too. it's right midtown and near the fox theater and
right near north ave, which from there take it east to
moreland and you're right in l5p - (say 10 mins away)
- and it came up to be about the same price as holiday
inn express - emory ($75 i think). only thing is that
it's in midtown and you wouldn't want to be wandering
around by yourself at night - but it's pretty much
fine.
anyway, so there's some things to look at.
expedia.com can give you an overview, but i like going
straight to the source - like bestwestern.com didn't
have anything, but the others above did. let me know
any questions or comments (like you know a better one
or one of these is actually a dive). cya!

subject: uk airplay - become you is album of the week!
mime-version: 1.0
content-type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"
content-transfer-encoding: 7bit
hi everyone,
just thought you all would like to know the exciting news (at least for
those of us in the uk) that become you is the album of the week on bbc radio
2!
radio 2 is the most listened to station in the country (as the bbc likes to
remind us regularly!) so this means ig will be getting plenty of airplay on
national radio this week and will be given a higher profile over here than
they've had for years.
the frustrating thing is i live in an fm reception vacuum so i can only
listen to r2 at work.
over the last couple of weeks i've heard moment of forgiveness and bitter
root on johnnie walker's early evening show but today i heard mof twice
before lunch! this kind of airplay is almost unheard of over here, i've
heard them more in the last 3 weeks than in the previous 7 years!
i'm not quite sure what to make of it, i'm used to ig being my little secret
;-)
btw one of my workmates (who hadn't heard ig before) thinks that amy sounds
like stevie nicks. i can't hear it myself but it's an interesting
comparison...
okay that was my annual post so bye 'til next year!

folks -
i was ahem, possibly, converting this audio - i will offer it - but a
certain british guy is getting the first copy for dealing with my laziness
in sending trades out...
for a "short show" - it doesnt fit on one cd - it will fit on two.
so like the boston promo show was longer than last year's nff.
and it must be good - i *never* convert shows so fast...
anyone want to host shn's??? maybe mp3's - but i am thinking shn.
again - it still is not mastered - i just got the first cd recorded - not
normalized, noise reduced or tracked...
and did anyone get either wbos or the river shows on tape? those will be
nice filler for my 2nd cd.
anyone get photos that came out (looking at a couple people i saw shooting
- and no - i didnt get any pictures.)
mike r.

mime-version: 1.0
content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
content-transfer-encoding: 7bit
hey all,
last night's show was classic indigo girls, from the opening chords of
least complicated to the last ringing note of moment of forgiveness. the
crowd was incredibly well-behaved, and the sing-alongs were phenomenal.
both amy and emily said several times that we were great to play for, and
both seemed genuinely moved by the crowd's singing...
some of the songs, as i recall them:
least complicated
gone again
deconstruction of love
become you
get out the map
three hits
mystery
starkville
closer to fine
johnny rottentale
shame on you
galileo
kid fears
encore:
new emily song - don't know the title
power of two
moment of forgiveness
i might have disremembered a couple...
it was a wonderful show - from our nosebleed seats in the upper balcony,
emily's voice soared, especially on mystery, and amy rocked like only amy
can...
also, after much negotiation, i've succeeded in bringing voices on the
verge to nietzsche's in buffalo on wednesday, march 20 at 9 pm. mark
erelli will be opening, and my friends and i will be performing on the
front stage both before and after the votv show. this promises to be one
of our best nights ever...
peace (what a concept)

hey everyone.
buffalo was a fantastic show, probably the second or third best ig show i've
seen. really, it was that good. i wrote down the set list at the show, so
this is accurate:
least complicated
gone again
deconstruction
become you
get out the map
three hits (with no band! it sounded so great and so different)
collecting you
yield
mystery
shame on you
closer to fine
starkville (this sounded sooooooooooooo great)
johnny rottentale (amy breaks string and thumbnail)
our deliverance
galileo
kid fears
---encores---
she's saving me
power of two (sully started to bring out another guitar right before this,
but the girls didn't need that one for this song. i think this one was not
on the original set list and was added spontaneously)
moment of forgiveness
the girls talked a lot (the part about "buffy the vampire slayer" was
hilarious) and seemed to really enjoy playing for us. it was really funny
that when someone shouted out a request for "blood and fire," emily just
laughed. amy made a comment that some of the songs folks were requesting
were so old, they didn't remember them at all. emily's voice was in rare
form, absolutely angelic. i guess my only disappointment was that i was
counting on hearing chickenman/bitteroot.
anyone going to future shows, check out the cash brothers. they were a
really good opening act with some wonderful songs.
nancy, it was good to meet you. glad you and your friends had a good time.
have a good one everybody,
tom

i have to agree with tom on this show. it was an excellent time! sound was
great, crowd was great, a & e sang awesome!!!!!!! i was looking forward to
chickenman/bitterroot, since i've heard rave reviews about it, but i still
floated away juiced..
after the show, sulli threw me a pick, but it took a nose dive right
down the tank top of this chick next to me! since my g/f was right there, i
had to behave, and ask for another. she grabbed one that amy used that was on
the floor by her guitar and handed it to me. so...i have my amy pick.
tom, nice to meet you also. mary, i missed you. did you go?

i rarely post, but i didn't see anything about the shows in canada yet and
i didn't want us to go un-represented! (funny, i'm from florida,
representing canada??) the show at lee's palace (i like to claim it's my
palace, but it's not) was great; how could it not be in such a small
venue? i am not the type to have to set list in my head or together enough
to have written it down, but it was a good set and much like the lists i've
seen posted from the other recent shows. we did get to hear
chickenman/bitterroot which was most definitely a highlight! they played
virginia woolf in the encore which was a complete and pleasant surprise.
three hits was amazing as were get out the map and the wood song.
sigh....
they both seemed pretty tired to me, though they still seemed pleased to be
there and the crowd was very adoring and i think they felt that. amy's
voice was stronger than i've ever heard but i thought emily seemed a little
more tired. they were pretty funny talking about the mike bullard
appearance at one point. apparently, when they went across the border one
of the immigration guys said, "so you're doing bullard while you're here?"
and one of them, i don't know who, replied something like, "i don't know.
we're doing ottawa and then toronto and i don't know about bullard." we
all got a kick out of that!! says to me that they were pretty zonked.
amy joked about being worried the immigration guys would think they
weren't the indigo girls at all.
the new stuff went over really well, i think, though the crowd definitely
seemed a little less engaged on the new songs. i was bummed people talked
quite a lot during she's saving me, but emily said thanks for listening so
well afterwards, so maybe i noticed more than she. i have say moment of
forgiveness and become you are melt your bones wonderful, and i was so
great to hear them live so soon. for those who still have shows to see,
you will not be disappointed!
hi to the lawyers we lined up with---hope to see you at mitzi's for brunch
someday! lee

hi all,
i don't usually post to the list. i just wanted to add that the buffalo show
was awesome. i'm glad we made the 8 hour trip from maryland to be there and
that we got to see our good friends from ny. hi c&j!!
anyway the girls sounded awesome and were very talkative. i just wanted to
share the buffy story. they said they had been watching buffy the vampire
show before coming on sunday night. i think emily said she likes the show
however it always freaks her out because she is used to seeing the girl on
the show doing a cosmetic commercial and when you see her as buffy she is
like "i'm gonna fucking rip your heart out". i think she said that freaks
her out. if i have that wrong somebody correct me!!! amy then said that
the show is now called charmed...then she laughed an said that oh...that's
the show that comes on afterwards.....one of them then started talking about
how much emily loves xena!!!! emily said something about its really sad
that she loves that show so much. emily said that suli loves xena also. amy
said something like well its like when we were kids and we liked super hero
shows. emily said something after this but i'm not gonna write what i think
she said. somebody else can fill in those blanks. amy asked anybody if they
knew xena to please let them know so emily can meet her. she added that you
all know how it is to meet someone you look up to.
that's just one thing they talked about. amy talked about how she is
learning the harmonica and learning how to breath correctly. she said she
has been going on the internet to get help and that its not helping her! (i
thought she sounded great..she went off a little bit on yield i think) they
both talked about how they felt when someone asked how they were doing.
emily said good but tired from the travel of the road. amy said she was good
because she just had 2 hershey kisses before coming on the stage and she said
she was going to have 2 more later.
it was a really great show. i don't think i have ever heard them talk as
much as they did that night. i think it makes for a great show when they
talk and interact with the crowd.
if anyone or tom wants to correct me if i am wrong, i would appreciate it!!!!
peace
sandy

i have to agree with tim, tom and nanci....it was a great show. i got a set
list and tom's right, power of two was added last minute, it's not on the set
list. also, jonas was on the list but they played three hits instead.
chickenman/ bitterroot was sorely missed and chickenman isn't even my
favorite....but i missed it when it wasn't played.
the buffy/xena conversation was really funny. they had mentioned that
they were watching buffy the vampire slayer, except amy thought they changed
the name to charmed, until someone let her in on the fact that it's two
different shows. amy commented that emily was a real xena fan and that she
was sorta getting into buffy. then emily says "yeah she kicks some f***in'
ass". the whole audience gasped and then roared laughing.....
when they were asked how they were feeling, emily was tired from the
road but amy was feeling good, she had a few hershey kisses before they came
out and thought she might have a few more too!
i think they were getting a little annoyed with the people calling
out all these old songs. at one point, someone called out something and
emily said that if they knew that song they must be a bootlegger! but thats
ok cuz "we don't mind bootleggers one bit!" then amy chimed in and said that
if they were bootleggers, they probably had that song at home anyway, so the
girls didn't have to play it for them!
after the show we waited by the bus. emily came out first. she was
very nice. (there were about 15 or so waiting) she felt bad because it was
so cold, 25 degrees with a wind chill of about three. she chatted for a
while and let us take pictures and signed autographs. they had pizza
delivered to the bus. sulli hung out for while too, smoked a cigarette
with us, but then got on the bus. em had said "hey sulli keep warm!"
amy hung out inside for another 30 to 45 minutes. she was wearing her
glasses when she headed out, pulling her suitcase and carrying a backpack.
she asked that we not take pictures, she wasn't in the mood, something about
wearing her pajamas. she signed autographs too. i thought it was so cool
that they both had their own markers. the whole experience was very cool. i
have never done anything like that before, my girlfriend is the best for
letting me stay! i always thought i would turn to mush if i ever met them,
but i didn't really have to speak, so i was ok. and i got a picture with
emily and a set list but no pic again. one guy had like 5....right before
nanci lost hers to the bosom girl. ( i still can't believe that i was right
behind you when that happened). and they are coming back this summer! can't
wait!

p.s. there was a wwxd? sticker on one of the equipment cases...i wished i
had my "what would amy and emily do?" sticker with me, i would have given it

i have to agree with tim, tom and nanci....it was a great show. i got a set list and tom's right, power of two was added last minute, it's not on the set list. also, jonas was on the list but they played three hits instead. chickenman/ bitterroot was sorely missed and chickenman isn't even my favorite....but i missed it when it wasn't played.
the buffy/xena conversation was really funny. they had mentioned that they were watching buffy the vampire slayer, except amy thought they changed the name to charmed, until someone let her in on the fact that it's two different shows. amy commented that emily was a real xena fan and that she was sorta getting into buffy. then emily says "yeah she kicks some f***in' ass". the whole audience gasped and then roared laughing.....
when they were asked how they were feeling, emily was tired from the road but amy was feeling good, she had a few hershey kisses before they came out and thought she might have a few more too!
i think they were getting a little annoyed with the people calling out all these old songs. at one point, someone called out something and emily said that if they knew that song they must be a bootlegger! but thats ok cuz "we don't mind bootleggers one bit!" then amy chimed in and said that if they were bootleggers, they probably had that song at home anyway, so the girls didn't have to play it for them!
after the show we waited by the bus. emily came out first. she was very nice. (there were about 15 or so waiting) she felt bad because it was so cold, 25 degrees with a wind chill of about three. she chatted for a while and let us take pictures and signed autographs. they had pizza delivered to the bus. sulli hung out for while too, smoked a cigarette with us, but then got on the bus. em had said "hey sulli keep warm!"
amy hung out inside for another 30 to 45 minutes. she was wearing her glasses when she headed out, pulling her suitcase and carrying a backpack. she asked that we not take pictures, she wasn't in the mood, something about wearing her pajamas. she signed autographs too. i thought it was so cool that they both had their own markers. the whole experience was very cool. i have never done anything like that before, my girlfriend is the best for letting me stay! i always thought i would turn to mush if i ever met them, but i didn't really have to speak, so i was ok. and i got a picture with emily and a set list but no pic again. one guy had like 5....right before nanci lost hers to the bosom girl. ( i still can't believe that i was right behind you when that happened). and they are coming back this summer! can't wait!

howdy ya'll,
being a newbie to the indigo girls concert scene, i
have to bone up before madison. i was wondering how
easy it was to get somethin' like a guitar pick or
whatnot if you're up close, because i think i could
die a happy girl if i could snag a guitar pick from
either of them, it would make my first concert *so*
memorable. is it rude to ask for one, or, just, what
is polite and whatnot when you're at a concert as far
as stuff like that goes? peace and love!

peace and love,

i just had to share this nice thing that happened to me yesterday. i was at
the corner store in my neighborhood and the owner was in there by himself
grooving to tom waits. i told him that whenever i heard tom waits i thought
about him and he said, "that's so nice. you're such a nice person. just for
saying that i'm going to give you something i know you want." and he handed
me a promo copy of become you that was given to him by his friend who owns a
record store and got a few of them. my jaw dropped to the ground and i
wanted to kiss the man! i ran home and put it on and danced around with my
cats. i'm surprised at myself, but right now i'm stuck on hope alone. the
harmonies are beautiful and the lyrics are absolutely heartwrenching. i
can't get it out of my head.

sorry all, i replied to sherlyn earlier about the indy concert and
thought i responded to the whole list. here is the info some of you
have requested.
the concert (as far as i can tell) is sponsored by a radio station and
will be held at a restaurant called "the rathskeller" which is located
in downtown indy on michigan street. the telephone number is (317)
636-0396. it's scheduled for wednesday, march 20th. the doors open at
2:00 p.m. and the concert is at 5:30 p.m. (or possibly 5:00 p.m. - i'm
not too sure on that piece). the concert is free but is limited to the
first 200 people who get inside the building. apparently, you must be
inside the building to be counted as part of the 200 eligible - not
still outside.
good luck being one of the first 200 all!

oops. the other thing i forgot to tell all of you is that the woman at
the restaurant said that if you make a lunch reservation (or early
dinner reservation) that you would already be inside the restaurant and
can watch the show when it started. i made a reservation for four.
don't know if this will work, but you might ask when you call.
