salvers huh? i hope this is a typo... i would hate to think that someone would publish a music review (or any review for that matter) without even knowing who it was they were reviewing.

i think this song is about personal relationships, nothing to do with their
shows. is't emily just saying that relationships tend to follow a similar
pattern, because of the personalities and expectations of the two people? we
repeat the same mistakes, in fact. so "back to the hourglass" for another
round and hope you learn this time!

this is a possibility, of course, but we must remember these songs were
probably written anything up to a year ago or even longer, so they are more
likely to be emily's continuing thoughts on the nature of relationships (of
all kinds). and she seems pretty happy to me right now, having seen recent
shows - yaay!

i do wish these "reviewers" would write something original for a change, and
get away from the amy/emily "opposites" stereotype! emily is not earnest,
she is thoughtful; amy is not (always) a hell-raiser! sorry, it just annoys
me now and again...

not a lot of new dates, but a couple - something called "leg ii". guess they're
budgeting themselves a break in the middle... and more power to them, sez i.
they've also updated the resources page, and it packs quite a wallop - in fact,
it's so long that i won't post it, though if anybody without web access wants a
copy email me and i'll send it privately.
here's leg ii, so far:
7/4/2002 wxrt radio show chicago il
7/18/2002 humphrey's by the bay san diego ca
7/19/2002 humphrey's by the bay san diego ca
7/21/2002 winter park ski resort winter park co
i figure the wxrt thing is probably radio only, recorded when they were in
chicago a few weeks ago, though i can't imagine why that's on the tour page. if
anybody knows different, please do contradict me....

mandy,
waving to jenna

someone suggested this might be a radio show only. if anyone knows for sure
please email me directly.
xrt has for years done a concert at the july 4th party in chicago that
includes taste of chicago and fireworks. i saw poi dog pondering and matthew
sweet there about 8-9 years ago. it was a no-ticket festival type of thing.
i could think of no better excuse to go visit my chicago buds on the 4th
than an ig show.

sorry to spam everyone and if you do not use yahoo as
a email provider it is not as message you need to
continue reading, however,
if you do, yahoo did change it's privacy options - you
can change these inyour account information/ marketing
preferences, but - do not inadvertially hit no on
every one - especially if you have pop access (for the
next 3 weeks) because it will not let you retrieve
anything if you hit "no" on yahoo delivers tab...
fwd if you feel the need - this isn't some urban myth

knoxville, tn logistics
for those who are coming from a distance to see this saturday's show at blue cats in k-ville, i scopped out the area for parking, etc. there is a parking lot directly next to bc. it is four or five dollars to park all day. the gate to the courtyard will be left open all day so you'll be able to come in and chill until show time. just a bit down the street are several restaurants, two cafe's and several funky little shops. unfortunately, i will not be able to get the entire day off, but i should be there around 6 to join y'all in line. for those from out of the area, i'll give you my run down of local eateries that i have been to in that area. spicy's offers awesome hot wings...good prices. manhattans offers an ecclectic menu...medium prices...there's a mexican place that i've never been to. there is the fondue pot offering high prices and romantic fondue. there's a bar and pizza place across the street...barley's, but i've never been there. there's also a place on central called java in the old city. they offer java, teas, chocolate as well as light sandwiches and desserts, which aren't so light. let's see...about five blocks away in market square, is a subway which is only open to 5:00...a bar called mcleods which serves bar food...and for lunch the soup kitchen...they've got great soups. there's also the tomato head which is open late. it has awesome kind-of vegetarian food...as well as pizza's, soups, sandwiches and salads. it's my favorite as well as spicy's. if you're interested in directions to tomato head, let me know. btw, there's also a place called cup of joe...i'd avoid it at all costs. the prices are high...the staff is rude the music way too loud and i have questions about their cleanliness. visit earth to old city, a cool little shop in the old city and would someone save me a spot up front. i've got super short hair - dark- and i'll be wearing a tye dye t-shirt and jeans. thanks y'all...if you need directions holler to me at emmead2000@yahoo.com. see you then!

tour becomes indigo girls
updated 00:58 pst thu, apr 04 2002
fans on both shores of the atlantic will have an opportunity to catch the
indigo girls on their become you tour this year. emily saliers and amy ray
hit europe beginning april 27 and stick around for 13 shows. then, at the
end of may, the indigo girls kick off their u.s. tour with a two-night stand
in vienna, va.
the second leg of the girls' tour starts july 4. only a few shows are
confirmed thus far, with the schedule expected to expand as dates and venues
are nailed down.
earlier this year, the indigo girls celebrated the then-pending release of
their new album with a club tour previewing the new material. the duo
started the mini-tour in february and continued through part of march.
the preview club gigs featured the acoustic stylings of the acclaimed
singer/songwriters as they played 45 minute- to hour-long sets of new tunes
from their forthcoming 12-song album, become you. the album is the indigo
girls' eighth studio album and was released march 12.
prior to the "parties," as they were called, the indigo girls played a
handful of shows in france and the u.k.
become you marks the girls' first album of new material since 1999's come on
now social.

i see the nff isnt listed and according to john
gorka's tour dates on flemtam, nff is 8/3-84/02...
the ig seem to be out west - think they'll do nff -
i'm not looking for "insider info" that is wrong - i
would love to know if ig are playing nff - because
even i think nff is like - the best venue (besides,
say, the camden opera house, or maine center for the
?arts, to see the ig...
of course, i haven't seen them on the west caost and
yes, the pier in seattle or red rocks does seem to
bring out something in them on the boots i've
heard...

also, i have thought about the fact that the costa

after checking with a few pittsburgh people, i think the show might be
free. it is part of the 2 week art festival and usually all the shows
are free. a website for the festival does not have the performing
artists listed, yet. it says to check back later. on fridays, the
festival runs from noon to 10pm.
bettyann
ps. i think the website was something simple like www.pittsburgh.com <http://www.pittsburgh.com/> and
i picked festivals.

hey everyone,
when we were at the meet & greet at the paradise in boston, kristin asked
amy about the newport folk fest and she said that they didn't know if they
would be playing this year, because they were headed back to europe. but it
looks like their europe dates will be done by the time nff comes around. and
last year, at this time when amy was touring to promote stag, kris had asked
her the same question and she had told her yes, so i was thinking that if
they were going to play they might know by now, of course i am no expert on
these matters i was just thinking comparatively. also in other nff news i
have heard an "unconfirmed," i repeat an "unconfirmed" rumor that a very well
know "lesbian rock star" has been approached to headline on the saturday at
nff! this is again, an "unconfirmed"
rumor and i won't even mention who it is or where i heard it, but all i can
say is if it is true "somebody bring me some water" so as i can dash out
these " flames "!!!
peace & love,
janet

also in sf, we learned the following essential tidbit - amy favors diesel

that is so true. they added the second seattle show about 12 hours later. i am wondering if they'll add a second greek show. hmmm... maybe on saturday night? that would be great. if nott, i'll just be happy with going to the two seattle shows and the one berkeley show, though (san diego is out at this point, as is the orange county fair). hmmm... i'm also wondering if portland will be added somewehere in between. no britt fest this year, i don't think. :(

you are correct, the show is free (at least they always where). the girls
play the first day of the festival, friday the 7th and since its on the main
stage, i would imagine they will close it down, meaning a full show or close
to it. pray for good weather.

from what i can tell, this is one of two promos that came out when the
retrospective was released in the end of 2000 - i'm pretty sure it was released
through the ird. there was another one, very similar (aesthetically, anyhow)
from tower records, with five cuts on it. i didn't have to buy anything at the
ird to get their promo, but i did end up having to suck up a few of the
rereleases to lay hands on a copy of the tower one. i guess it's more or less
what they did with the new album, isn't it? anyway, it's a fine promo - i'm
very fond of that version of faye tucker, which is what they did that whole
summer with matt brubeck doing the extended jig thingy - but don't pay a whole
lot for it; there are bound to be more copies popping up.
i guess it's more or less what they did with the new album, isn't it?

indigo girls
bowery ballroom
new york, new york
02.26.02
review by dave gil de rubio
amidst the trends of the past decade=97boy bands, grunge, swing,
electronica=97the indigo girls have stubbornly forged ahead with
their unique brand of confessional, harmony-driven folk-rock.
in the three years since their last album, 1999's star-studded
come on now social, amy ray released a solo debut (stag) on her
own daemon records imprint, while emily saliers grabbed some
time off. for their newly-released eighth studio outing, become
you, the georgia natives reunited with peter collins, producer
of 1992's rites of passage and 1994's swamp ophelia. fortunate
enough to have cultivated a symbiotically munificent
relationship with their rabid fanbase, the indigos recently
embarked on a quick and intimate promotional club tour that
found the duo playing an acoustic show at the bowery ballroom
before a house packed with vociferous admirers.
unrepentantly liberal at a time when george w. bush's approval
ratings are going through the roof, the left-leaning duo had
tables set up with sign-up sheets for favorite causes, including
honor the earth and the national youth advocacy coalition.
casually ambling out on stage with acoustic guitars at the
ready, the indigo girls opened up with "gone again," effectively
sweeping up the predominantly young, female audience with a
one-two punch of ray's trilling mandolin and saliers' twangy
banjo. delivering killer harmonies that never ceased to raise
goose bumps, the girls alternated on lead vocals throughout their
set. saliers stepped forward with her sweeter inflections on old
favorite "virginia woolf" and the delicate new "deconstruction,"
while ray's raspier style was equally impressive at the fore of
fresh material like the rollicking "become you" (with playful
harmonica substituting for the studio version's squeeze box) and
the equally infectious "yield." with such a supportive crowd on
hand, nostalgic nuggets were tossed out in the shape of fan
favorites "closer to fine," "galileo," and a stellar version of
"least complicated" that often found the crowd carrying a full
set of verses. wrapping up with an encore that featured an
extended version of "chickenman," along with a pair of new
cuts=97the gently ruminative "she's saving me" and equally
vulnerable "moment of forgiveness"=97the indigos set the table for
an eagerly awaited return with a full band.
until then, stripped to the pure essence of acoustic guitars and
unadorned vocals, the indigo girls once again provided a reminder
of the immense depth of songwriting that continues to be
overlooked in an industry dominated by papier-mache talents and
studio artifice.
