i should have put this in with the last message. i also have two other
boots that don't have a lot of info on them. the first ones just say la and
the second ones just say sioux falls. i am positive that these came from
the same person. if that was you and you can remember more about these
shows, like the date, i would really appreciate it.
i am trying to, finally, update my boot list. thanks guys!

ps - anyone find a copy of the recent minneapolis show yet?

i'm a broke college student and could only afford one ticket to the first
radio city show. so now i have to go alone, and a solo trip to nyc isn't
too appealing. if any upstate new yorkers are gonna be going, i'm in
albany and would really appreciate a ride. i'd be glad to chip in for gas,
parking, etc.
thanks,

so, um, it's been a while since i've written any parodies, but while i was
working on the parody pages <<http://liquid2k.com/chkngrrl/igfilk.htm>> today,
i was inspired:
you've got to blow (your nose)
[a parody of "you've got to show"]
yes it's true
we've gotten very
snotty this year
can't stop, i am
sneezin' and coughin'
all the way across the room
or across the table
we hack and cough
conversation brief
we can't find
a bottle of nyquil
and we can't get relief
why don't we both agree
we're both afraid
and too afraid to say
if i said
take this please
(take this please)
before you sneeze
(before you sneeze)
would you use a hanky (would you use a)
there are a thousand germs inside you
that i don't want to learn to know
but i can't do it alone
you've got to blow....

(i know that there is more to the original than this, but i ran out of
ideas.)

unfortunately, you have to keep in mind that the igs have a fairly fixed
price for their cut from the show regardless of how many people show up,
no idea how much amy and emily make but my guess is that it is not cheap
to have them play. beyond that, the promoter, the venue etc etc etc have
to get their cut too, they have to buy insurance. its a sad case because
i know for sure that it could be done cheaper. just ask fugazi! best
thing to do is spend the money and enjoy the show like we always do.
if they keep adding shows to the south, i am definitely going to be broke.
cheers -
todd

hey...
<<no idea how much amy and emily make but my guess is that it is not
cheap to have them play.>>
you can have them play for somewhere in the region of $40,000.
everything is negotiable - especially if it's a charity occasion, and
i'm sure they made much less on the preview tour...

i would like to head on down to atlanta, and might need a ride there,
so if there's anyone cruising thru the twin cities,mn going down to
atlanta (i would be willing to chip in a little extra for gas) or maybe
you could give me some really cheap ways to get there
second, where is chastain park located? and what is it like, is it big
like say canterbury park
(for those of you in minnesota who've been to atlanta.)
and some inexpensive places to stay when i'm there id like to try
watershed, so i would need
a place central to both that and chastain park.

while i am sure that many people will disagree, the only good thing about
chastain park is the natural appeal that you get walking up to the venue.
its sits alongside a large wooded park in the middle of a neighborhood.
because its in a neighborhood, there is a noise ordinance in effect, and
because many people are season ticket holders who care more for the ability
to have a picnic under the stars than to hear a band, there is a tremendous
amount of crowd noise, loud crowd - soft music - early curfew. take a
cooler, if you go, most shows allow you to bring one in. although last time
the igs played there, emily said that joni mitchell wouldn't allow
picnicing. its a complete catch. its nice to bring wine and whatnot in but
its awful distracting. i would be interested to see if others feel the same
about chastain. i remember the last time they played you could get a table
directly in front of the stage on the day of the shows.
anyway thats what i think -

if i'm not mistaken, the humphrey's front tix are the same or less than they
were at the same venue last year.
speaking for myself, if it guarantees me tix in the first three rows, without
spending the entire day to do it, it's a damn good deal. not to mention
dinner to boot. (and no, i don't have much money, i just know the value of

everything is (finally) underway for this - the first set of discs has
been mailed and the artwork is posted. anyone who needs a reminder of
who to send their discs to or get them from should drop me an email.
the response to the new tree structure idea has been overwhelmingly
positive. i've only had one person complain, but if anyone has some
constructive criticism i'd like to hear it. (apart from it taking a
while to answer emails and stuff, but i know that already!)

hi,
one of our city council members is trying to pass a resolution offering
same-sex health benefits to partners of city employees, despite marked
dragging of feet by other council members and a letter against it from the
police association. what i'm wondering is, does anyone know where i can
find some info (fairly quickly) on other cities, etc. that maybe have
passed similar resolutions. also, the concern has been expressed that it
will cost more to do so, that the whole definition of "marriage" would
have to change, etc. etc. etc. basically, i'm looking for pat ways to
shoot arguments down (especially actual verifiable evidence)! any help
would be most appreciated.
thanks,
amy m.

hkf's,
yes, chastain park has a few negatives, but imho the
positives far outweigh the negative. you can bring in
a cooler of food/beer/wine anything (!) (i'll double
check this when it gets closer - cause that's huge)
and it just the coolest outdoor musical environment in
atl. good or bad seats, i'm excited for that weekend.
tailgating doesn't really happen, so just get there
early to deal w/ the crowd and everything will come
out roses.
chastain park is just north of buckhead off of roswell
road. travelling north on roswell, you take a left on
wieuca rd and it's just up the road a bit next to the
park.
watershed is in decatur on ponce de leon which is
abouts 25 minutes (south east) of chastain park.
inbetween these two places would be buckhead, midtown,
the highlands or even emory/druid hills area.
buckhead is a big area centered mainly on peachtree
and piedmont (which both run into roswell when headed
northbound). midtown is 5th to 20th street or so,
just south of buckhead (just north of downtown). the
highlands is around ponce/n.highland/virginia ave.
(commonpond is there) and is close to decatur, which
is east on ponce. emory/druid hills is near (north)
of highlands/decatur and slightly closer to buckhead
and chastain. just check expedia.com for hotels along
w/ the cheap chains like days inn, best western and
all those. e-mail me with specific questions since
this is merely "cliff notes to ig & atl".

indigo girls nail down summer tour plans
the indigo girls will kick off their summer north american tour may 27 in portsmouth, va., and will be on the road through a july 21 date in winter park, colo. the trek comes in support of the duo's latest epic album, "become you," which debuted at no. 30 on the billboard 200 last month. earlier this year, principals amy ray and emily saliers played 16 acoustic dates in north america; the summer dates will see them backed by a full band.
the group is selling tickets to select shows, which will feature rotating support from norah jones, danielle howle, and k's choice, via an online partnership with musictoday.
"we change the set list every night," ray said in a recent online chat. "we don't play songs when we don't want to play them. we sort of come to a meeting of the minds on what the indigo girls will do. i think the key to us staying together is respect and our differences."
"become you" features six songs each from ray and saliers, and find the pair backed by its touring group: carol isaacs (keyboards/percussion), clare kenny (bass), and brady blade (drums).
here are the indigo girls' tour dates:
may 27: portsmouth, va. (harbor center)
may 29-30: vienna, va. (wolf trap)
may 31: philadelphia (mann center)
june 1-2: boston (fleetpavilion)
june 4-5: new york (radio city music hall)
june 7: pittsburgh (three rivers festival)
june 8: clarkston, mich. (dte energy theatre)
june 9: toronto (molson amphitheatre)
june 10: cleveland (tower city amphitheatre)
june 13: antioch, tenn. (amsouth amphitheatre)
june 14-15: atlanta (chastain park)
june 26: birmingham, ala. (alabama theatre)
june 27: kettering, ohio (fraze pavilion)
june 28: indianapolis (murat theatre)
june 29: columbus, ohio (promowest pavilion)
july 4: chicago (wxrt 4th of july show)
july 5: minneapolis (state theatre)
july 7: salt lake city (red butte garden)
july 9-10: seattle (pier 62-63)
july 11: portland, ore. (schnitzer hall)
july 13: berkeley, calif. (greek theatre)
july 14: los angeles (venue tba)

does anyone have any suggestions on places other than ebay and this list to post ig fleetboston tickets for sale, like specific message boards or newsgroups?
also, i was reading e-mail w/tv on in the background (kelly and regis was on) and just as the commercial break was ending and the next segment was about to begin, i heard "become you" playing in the background of the tv studio. it was just filler for the audience to listen to. for a minute, i thought amy and emily might be introduced. no such luck.

a while ago somebody forwarded a clever compilation of ridiculous bible
quotes and passages, which clearly refuted the argument "the bible says <.
. .. . > so therefore we must obey it. " it basically makes the points of
why one should not take the "bible" so literally. one of the passages says
something about killing your neighbor if he violated something. does
anyone remember what i am talking about? does anyone have it still? if
so, could you please forward a copy to me? thanks! it made me laugh so
hard . . .

of indigo lp, and no lp player. i also have shades of indigo on cd (the
original) and on a taped boot. so, since i have three copies of this promo
(ok, well, one is a boot), i am selling the lp that i have no use for. i
thought i'd offer it here (bbs and list) before selling it on ebay.
i am selling it for $30 (what i paid) plus $4 shipping/handling in the us
(usps priority mail). i don't really want to mess with money orders or
checks, so i am hoping to sell it using paypal.
please let me know if you are interested.
:-) karen
indigokare@aol.com
ps- it is not unopened and mint. it has been played before, but as far as i
know, there are no scratches or skips.

i dont have these or i would post them - but winmx is difficult because you
cant choose which server two ppl are going to be on...
there is a yahoo group called indigop2p you may want to join - but i heard
the moderator can be a jerk on occasion 8-)
(that's me, self depreicating humor)
audio galaxy also has like communities or some such thing - there is a live
counting crows trading community (that band like is soooooo cool with it's
fans - they meet every one at every show. and they are pretty taper
friendly...)
but if anyone has icq - a few people have been trading shows and i have
like 10 shows in mp3 on my shared files folder - including a snh of the
nashville radio show.
sooo...if anyone has the alt stuff (i know there are burned trees all over
the place) mosey over to indigop2p@yahoogroups.com

actually, you can find a single individual as
long as they are connected on the wpnp part.
here's how - the person sharing clicks on the
'server' button at the top of the page. then
position your cursor at the top of the window and
click 'config'. here you can find your user name
if you don't know it already.
then the individual trying to get the shared
files clicks on the 'hotlist' button at the top.
this opens the hotlist window. right click the
'hotlist' title bar and click 'add user'. then
fill in the person's user name (that they've
emailed you), and choose wpnp for the server
name. then, if they're logged on, you right
click their name which should now be in the
hotlist window. then choose 'browse', and all
their shared files will show.
anybody can test this with mine all weekend, i'll
be logged onto wpnp. i have the alt version of
our deliverance and the live version of
everything in its own time shared from one of the
bonus discs.
anyone can download winmx from
<http://www.winmx.com/>. it would actually be a
really easy way to share any files between the
list, because all you have to know is the user
name of the person with the files, and when
they're logged on.
and if someone's willing to give it a shot and
you have the ird bonus disc to mp3, let me know,
thanks.
