i came in contact with someone on e-bay who sells the above (they're bears) in 2 colors: green and purple. i bought a purple one (actually, it's more of an eggplant color). it's really cute, costs only $1.99, is just over 8 inches tall and has a rainbow emblem on its chest, where its heart would be.
the attached tag reads:
diversity bear
kindness is the language
the deaf can hear
and the blind can see.
go to www.ebay.com <http://www.ebay.com/> and type in "gay pride beanie babies".
they make great gifts!

a friend told me about vegan cat food, so i thought i'd try it--just for the
novelty.
turns out, he loves it. he can't get enough of it, which is great.
but when i came home the other day, i caught him sitting on my yoga pad and
listening to one of my indigo girls cds. i asked him politely to get off my
pad, but he just kept sitting there, doing his breathing exercises,
completely ignoring me.
he's cramping my style. back to meow mix.

hi ig listees,
i want to let everyone know about a concert by a duo of women from
washington, dc who will be in the twin cities for the first time ever.
they are commonbond. maybe some of you know them. they have played a
lot over the last 9 years up and down the eastern seaboard, into the
south, alaska, and the west, but they just started playing the midwest
over the last year or so. they are lilith fair talent search finalists
and two of the best women guitarists and vocalists you'll find in indie
music. they are completely awesome, and they are cute as heck too!
commonbond will be on the sherocks! stage this year at national women's
music festival, as well as at various other music festivals and
singer-songwriter venues. you can see them in minneapolis soon! please,
check these ladies out. they need the support of the indie music-loving
community in the twin cities.
you will absolutely love mary beth and ashley! commonbond's music can be
described as a great mix of styles you'd hear from indigo girls, bonnie
raitt, mary chapin carpenter, and melissa etheridge. it's blues-edged
folk/rock/pop. they have 3 original cds of their own and their fourth
coming out in july! on top of the great music, their energy and charisma
just doesn't quit! and guys love 'em too, so don't anyone hold yourself
back from going! please check commonbond out at www.commonbondweb.com <http://www.commonbondweb.com/>.
here are the show details:
commonbond from washington, dc, live in concert!
friday, may 31, 7 p.m.
amazon bookstore
4432 chicago ave. s, minneapolis
612-821-9630
sunday, june 2, 8 p.m.
400 bar
400 cedar ave. s, minneapolis
612-332-2903
thanks, y'all!
hope to see you, 'cause i'll be at both shows!

i have that cd. it has several really good songs and the rest is, well,
filler. at least to me. a lot of the tracks are just talking. a lot of the
singers they got to cover the songs do not improve the songs with their
versions. when i listen to the cd, i only listen to the ani and ig tracks.

i thought it was great! it's a woody guthrie tribute album. they were
selling it at a production of "american song" which is a musical based on
woody's life and music. girlfriend and i picked one up and we both love
it. :)
go get it. definitely worth it. :)
peace!

john,
if you like woody guthrie, it's a must-have. the 'girls do "rablin'
hand" with ani and ani does an ok "do re mi" alone as well (although i
like arlo's remake version better). both can be heard in "hard
travelin' hootenany". there are also some other great tributes...
bruce springsteen does a great version of "riding in my car" for
example (and i'm not generally a boss fan).
imho, definitely worth owning if you're a woodie guthrie fan... not so
worth it just for the 'girls.

uh... i'm pretty sure the song is "ramblin' round" despite what it says on
cdnow.
riding in my car is cute but imho the boss's talents could have been used
better.
plus, the cd's pretty darn short. wonder how boring the rest of the
concert was if this was what they kept as the gems? :p
i like woody guthrie and most of the people involved in this disc, don't
get me wrong, but i wish i hadn't spent 17 bucks on it.

this is really wierd, but i met billy bragg after that show (william bloke
tour and he was talking to fans after and trying to remember ani's name so
i was like "um, you mean ani difranco?" and he was really witty and stuff.
the show was really good, i have heard various sets of the boss, ig and ani
(hello, doesnt anyone else simply go into heart palpitations just with
those artists?
i love the cd - i do think the bootlegs are even better tho

my friends and i got a little overzealous recently in purchasing tickets. as
a result, we have several extra tickets for sale for the woff trap shows next
week. the cost per ticket is $35.75 (which is face value + wt fee). the
cost is somewhat negotiable, we'd really like to get rid of the extra seats.

please direct all inquires to mrowan@gmu.edu. she has the tickets in her
possession, and can work out the details on how to meet up with you, or mail
you the tickets.
for the wednesday, may 29th show, the following seats are available:
1 ticket row f front orch. seat 5 (amy's side)
4 tickets row b front orch. seats 46-49 (emily's side).
for the thursday, may 30th show, the following seats are available:
5 tickets row k front orch. seats 19-23 (center)
you can look at the seating chart for the venue at the below website, for an
idea at how good these seats are.

please contact either marian at mrowan@gmu.edu, or myself at

music tremendously. if you haven't heard her yet, you're missing something
really special.

hi folks,
just a timely heads up on a brief list closure scheduled for next week.
***********************************************************
"after a year of generously being hosted off the end of a user's t1 line...,
netspace will be moving into a real, full-fledged
colocation facility on tuesday, may 28. we have to physically move the
server from it's current home in rye, ny to it's new home in cambridge, ma.
this will result in an interruption of service for several hours (and) bring
it back online,
hopefully by around 9am tuesday morning (or earlier if all goes well).
************************************************************
thanks!

subject: last night's concert - portsmouth, va
mime-version: 1.0
content-type: text/plain; format=flowed
hey y'all,
last night's tour opener in portsmouth was full of good energy. amy and
emily were in great moods and they sounded just perfect. as did the band.
claire, brady, and carol were right on.
they kicked things off with bitterroot. amy is definitely on her way to
becoming a mouth harp virtuouso, she sounded terrific. what a long way she
has come. i didn't write down the set list, maybe someone else did? the
songs i remember are tried to be true, galileo, get out the map, chickenman,
moment of forgiveness, deconstruction, starkville, closer to fine (with
guest vocals by sarah bettens of k's choice), yield, cold beer and remote
control, least complicated, a kick-ass version of become you, you've got to
show, collecting you, jonas and ezekial (yea!), go, trouble, ozilline, and
shame on you. hope i didn't leave anything out.
some miscellaneous moments:
amy pointed out that they were using in-ear monitors for the first time. she
wasn't much liking it and thought that maybe some things should remain the
same. apparently they were getting some crackling interference in the
monitors from either the navy or the coast guard. amy wanted us to know that
if we saw them jump or stick their fingers in their ears, that they weren't
doing anything weird. then on second thought, she said that it was weird,
but to bear with them. :)
last night was the first night of a waning full moon, and from the stage it
was a beautiful site from the stage. amy looked up at one point and said,
"whoa, look at the moon". and then she introduced the next song as, "...a
song for my dearly departed grandma." what a perfect moment to play
ozilline!
emily pointed out the cutest little girl in pig tails who had been singing
along to every song. emily told her that if she forgot the words to a song,
she would look to her for help. and then they dubbed her the "indigo
teleprompter". hehe that was cute.
oh, i guess i should give the obligatory fashion report. amy - a red, white,
and blue 70's style half-sleeve t-shirt with a red line drawing of a woman's
face on the front and '76 printed in black on the front left hand bottom
part of the shirt, and blue and white pin-striped jeans (kind of like train
conductor's jeans). emily - jeans, a black rayon-y shirt and the pink and
white beaded short-sleeved shirt over that.
definitely a fun night. :)

i heard a sound bite on cnn that said her show will be on the air until june, even though she taped her last show in may. i took that to mean the last show had not aired yet.
thanks for the update!

the official live finale aired last week, but there are six weeks of new episodes (taped) still showing. supposedly the network wanted to air the finale during sweeps.
