content-type: text/plain; format=flowed
hi again....
i thought i was set with selling my tickets for tonight but just had the
buyer back out on my this morning. i hate to say that i'm sort of begging
to find a buyer - i will sell them for $25 a piece... i have 4 to sell, but
will be willing to break them up. i paid $32 - pavillion seating.
please, if anyone is at all interested, let me know and we can work
something out.
thank you!
kate

howdy ya'll,
dunno how many of you are hitting the girls'
summerfest date but i wanted to know how to go about
getting tickets, or if one doesn't even get tickets
but just shows up at the right time since summerfest
consists of *so* many artists playing almost
simultaneously, and only a few stages charge ticket
fees outside the entrance fee into the grounds. so if
anyone has any info, please let me know asap because
i'm only an hour and a half away and *don't* want to
miss them! peace and love ya'll!

the only charge at summerfest for the stage ig is playing is the admission
fee (which is really high i feel) i think it may be 20 dollars...no, that
sounds like too much, maybe it's ten apiece, i guess that's not that bad.
there's my rambly answer.

check the summerfest site at
<<http://www.summerfest.com/home.php>>
to see the indigo girls you only need gate admission
which is $11 at the gate, or $9 advance ticket.

i'm thinking that this isn't the best place to ask anymore. although this is
the only list i read regularly, it seems there's more action on the official

you want something like that, you have to spread your requests around and
hope someone, somewhere bites...

another good place to ask would be the igbooters yahoo list (shameless
plug, for i am the new moderator!)
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/igbooters/>
someone asked about this show a few days ago; though there were no onlist
replies, it's possible someone answered her offlist.
i'd encourage everyone here who likes boot trading to join this list; if
you don't want messages all the time, you can even set your account to web
only and just read the archives on the web page instead of getting emails.

girls night out
by derek tse
toronto sun
-------------------------------------------------------------
indigo girls
molson amphitheatre, toronto
sunday, june 9, 2002
-------------------------------------------------------------
toronto -- toronto saw something of a mini-lilith fair revival last
night at the molson amphitheatre.
three female-driven acts -- up-and-coming singer-songwriter sarah
slean, veteran alt-rockers k's choice and folksters indigo girls, who
headlined the show -- took the stage and performed in front of about
3,500 people.
what a difference a couple of days can make -- the estrogen fest came
just after a testosterone-charged session from bad boys green day and
blink-182, who played the amphitheatre last friday. instead of those
pop-punkers' incessant foul language, sexual innuendo and
juvenility, the mostly female audience at last night's show were
treated to girl-friendly music and constant politeness, with each act
issuing polite "thank yous" after each song was greeted with
applause.
slean opened the proceedings with a quick performance that finished
stronger than it began. the pretty pickering native seemed a little
nervous at first, but after the first few songs, launched into her
set with gusto, using her sweet, girlish voice to good effect.
then belgium's k's choice came on for an excellent -- but
all-too-brief -- performance. led by the distinctive, raspy vocals of
frontwoman sarah bettens, the band played several songs off of their
new album, almost happy, including standouts like my head, busy, the
title track and another year, during which the indigo girls helped
out on vocals. but the band saved their best for last, with a
bravura performance of their signature '90s hit, not an addict.
when the indigo girls -- the guitar-playing duo of amy ray and emily
saliers -- finally took the stage proper, the small but enthusiastic
crowd roared in anticipation. and they didn't disappoint: their
contrasting styles -- ray has the deeper voice and tends to rock out
more, while the folk-leaning saliers has the prettier voice -- meshed
perfectly as they performed a mix of old favourites and songs from
their latest album, become you.
standouts included the ominous-sounding starkville, the rootsy get
out the map, the twangy yield, the power folk of faye tucker and the
uptempo shame on you and become you. but some of the loudest ovations
went to the rocking chicken man and closer to fine, during which
bettens returned the favour and joined ray and saliers on vocals.
all in all, this girls night out was a blast -- although you couldn't
help but think it may have been even better had the venue been more
intimate.

hi y'all,
i don't think this was posted, but it's from last
week's newsday, a queens-based paper. the last
paragraph is of note--a timetable for amy's next solo
album!

by robert kahn
staff writer
june 5, 2002

there's nothing wrong with singing an anti-war song -
even in post-sept. 11 new york, says emily saliers,
half of the dynamic duo the indigo girls.
"our deliverance," a song on the girls' current
"become you" disc, includes the lyrics "they're
sending soldiers to distant places ... and they want
to tell you it's a merciful sword."
"the song is about wanting violence to come to an end
and how we just send soldiers off to their deaths,"
says saliers, who finishes a two-show stint tonight at
radio city music hall with singing partner amy ray.
"we're accused of being dreamers. one review said it
was a very adolescent song. i realize it's just a
dream, but it's a call for peace, and if that's
adolescent, then so be it."
saliers remembers introducing "deliverance" - which
she wrote partly before and partly after the terrorist
attacks - during a sold-out bowery ballroom show feb.
26. the song won thunderous applause.
"to have the crowd there celebrate peace was very
moving for both me and amy. we almost had to stop
playing," she remembers. "these people had been
through a horrible event and still weren't
bloodthirsty."
the indigo girls will tour to promote "become you"
until around christmas. after that, ray has plans to
record a solo album. the girls (who, by the way, have
never dated: "there's no attraction for either of us,"
saliers says) expect to restage "the indigo girls
project," a program they created last year with the
atlanta ballet, around valentine's day.

hey all,
just wanted to say a huge thanks to the many of you who took the time to be
so kind! we have spoken to a few people, at radio city and i was finally
given an opportunity to tell the manager what i had heard and seen, will it
amount to anything, no i am sure it won't, but i did get a chance to tell the
management just how terribly we felt that they had handled the whole
situation, and perhaps in the future they won't be so quick to be so rude.
but now more importantly, we cannot allow that to be our last indigo
experience this year!!! what is the deal has anyone heard anything about a
college tour..????
take care,

well, they are coming to the hearst-greek theatre which is part of

do a
tour of college campuses this summer they would have announced it by
now, but oh well
just keep checking the official ig site and the bbs.

yes, the greek is part of uc berkeley. but the show is not a "college" show.
the venue is just on campus. they play at the greek often, and they don't
usually play at this venue during their college tours.
as far as the greek shows go, there is no special ticket sale to uc berkeley
students. it is a very public show in a beautiful venue on a college campus.
i can't wait for the greek show. ig shows at the greek are always special.

yes, the greek is part of uc berkeley. but the show is not a "college" show. the venue is just on campus. they play at the greek often, and they don't usually play at this venue during their college tours.

as far as the greek shows go, there is no special ticket sale to uc berkeley students. it is a very public show in a beautiful venue on a college campus.

i can't wait for the greek show. ig shows at the greek are always special.

:-) karen

20 questions for an indigo girl
by sonia murray
atlanta journal-constitution staff writer

twenty questions seemed too easy for the indigo girls, the melodic
wordsmiths. we needed scrabble or jeopardy or some other high-minded
activity for a pair sometimes slammed for letting their brains, rather than
their breasts, show.
nevertheless, before the folk duo's first major hometown concerts since the
release of their eighth cd, "become you," we prodded emily saliers into
letting us into her refrigerator, her fears and her secret desire to be a
quarterback, in what she would probably call a people magazine-like round of
20 questions:
q: which word or phrase do you most overuse?
a: probably "great!" i'm overly emotional and ebullient in that way.
q: what don't you say often enough?
a: anything in spanish. i've wanted to learn it for a while, but i just
haven't gotten down to actually doing it.
q: what is your greatest regret?
a: i can't think of any regrets. i figure it's all part of the picture of
life -- the choices you make, the things you do or don't do. . . .
q: greatest fear?
a: probably death, the loss of loved ones. a friend tried to tell me that
death wasn't serious, but i guess i'm not that evolved yet to agree.
q: which historical figure do you most identify with?
a: oh, my god, plenty, but i'd have to say jimmy carter. i just wish i could
be more like him. he's such a humanitarian, so very intelligent, very kind
and a southerner and proud of it. [congressman] john lewis, as well, for the
same reasons, and for his courage.
q: most treasured possession?
a: is your dog a possession? no, i'm not her owner, i'm just coexisting with
phoebe. one of my guitars then, my d-45 martin guitar.
q: greatest extravagance?
a: oh! good food and good wine. i eat in so many good restaurants and have
one myself [watershed, in decatur]. any place that focuses on really fresh
ingredients -- like, i had fiddlehead ferns in a dish the other day -- is
really good. that and a boutique wine, a red wine, yeah!
q: what do you have to have in your refrigerator?
a: gatorade. a lot.
q: which talent would you most like to have?
a: supreme athletic ability would be awesome. i'd like to be a quarterback.
that would be fun. or maybe play in the wnba.
q: have you ever played a sport?
a: no. it's always been a little too competitive, too intimidating. i was
always the songwriter, the woman alone in her room. sports were a little too
tough.
q: what do you like most about yourself?
a: i think i'm a good and decent person. i try to live my life as honestly
as possible and think about others and what i can do for them. i'm a pretty
good girl.
q: what is the trait you most deplore in others?
a: bigotry.
q: what is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
a: fear. whatever keeps me from doing things i might want to do, like
horseback riding. then there's my fear of danger and accidents and traumas.
. . . i'm a two-hands-on-the-wheel, eyes-two-feet-ahead-of-me kind of
driver. i'm a terrible passenger.
q: when and where were you happiest?
a: it doesn't take much for me. when i'm at home with my family, watching a
football game, playing, i'm happy. . . . but you know, when i see the human
spirit overcome wrong and injustice, i feel really great. i was just born
with a good disposition.
q: doesn't that make some people automatically angry with you?
a: i probably make some people sick. but hey, i'm a goofball. i'm not cool
or particularly sophisticated.
q: what is the quality you most like in a woman?
a: oh, man, there's a lot, but the first word that came to mind was
"mystery."
q: what is the quality you most like in a man?
a: honesty, emotional honesty.
q: why the difference?
a: men and women are different creatures. see, but that's the thing about
these "20 questions" -- it's all about wordplay, isn't it?
q: right. and songwriter that you are, that shouldn't be a problem. now,
what or who is the greatest love of your life?
a: [laughs.] no comment.
q: any guilty pleasure you'd like to share?
a: i said the good food and good wine thing already, right? you know, i try
not to do things that make me feel guilty, but maybe reading people magazine
and rolling stone qualify . . . it gives me an idea of what the pulse is for
that reader group. and everybody loves gossip!

standing in front of the stage and whether or not amy's wearing a pull over
or button-up shirt. according to my friend who was a little more left of
amy-side than i was, she saw skin skin tattoo skin skin skin.....and it was
yummy.

i'm not saying i wouldn't be pleased to see some skin, or that the girls
(amy in particular) never show any, i'm just saying that was a really
freaky line.
