neil, re:
>>which if i'm not mistaken would be lauren hammer, colorado
native and member of this here list.>>
yes, it is that lauren. lauren and i are both very big who fans, but
there are none bigger than her. she's in vegas right now and heading
to l.a. tomorrow, where the tour will continue. we've been on the
phone sporadically through the day.
if there are any other who fans on this list, raise a glass to the greatest
bass player in the history of rock and roll.

hi y'all,
i have tickets for the berkeley show in july and have a question for anyone
who's been to the greek theater.
my tickets are general admission, but they have specific row and seat
assignments. i thought gen adm was first come first serve? i've never been
to the greek theater, so if anyone who has could please enlighten me, i
would sure appreciate it.
also, could any berkeleyite recommend an inexpensive place to stay the night
of the show? i live several hours away and don't want to drive home that
night. something along the lines of motel 6 or something similar.
thanks and see ya at the show.

just a few quick notes about last night's show at the murat in indy. it
was possibly the best ig show i've ever seen (this was my 7th, which makes
me a bit of a novice compared to some folks, but hey). norah jones gave us
a lovely opening set, and then the pretty much sold-out crowd was on its
feet from the first notes of "bitterroot" and stayed there till the end.
amy especially seemed amazed at the audience enthusiasm -- at one point
she said "you guys are great! my face hurts from smiling so much!" amy
was, in fact, smiling a lot -- i don't think i have ever seen her so
bouncy and smiley, which was just wonderful to see.
we got a pretty terrific bonus when they brought out norah jones and her
guitarist to do "midnight train to georgia." it was just fun. "chickenman"
-- sans band, just a&e and guitars -- kicked a lot of ass, with emily
doing an extended guitar solo that blew me away. "laramie" absolutely
smoked, as did "go." i do wish they'd done "she's saving me," but we got a
lovely "philosophy of loss" and "watershed" sounded better than ever.
the setlist, thanks to someone on the ig bbs (i didn't write it down)
(and apologies if this has already been posted -- i'm on digest these
days):
bitterroot
get out the map
become you
you've got to show
shame on you
power of two
faye tucker
collecting you
yield
closer to fine
midnight train to georgia (w/norah jones)
ozilline
deconstruction of love
chickenman
watershed
laramie
least complicated
starkville
galileo
encore:
moment of forgiveness
philosophy of loss
go (i wanted this never to end!)
in some ways it really was a nearly-perfect show. it was just some of the
best energy i've ever experienced at a show, and the murat is such a great
place for a concert anyway.
cheers,
-anne in indiana

hi, all. it's been a while since i've done anything more than lurking, but busy, busy! my girlfriend bought us tickets to the show in st. louis for my birthday, which is incredibly sweet because she is not a fan. she did go with me to the show in '99, after which she grudgingly said, "ok, ok, so amy is hot!" she didn't agree with me on that before she saw them live. any-hoo, my question is are they touring now with or without the band? *please say without* anybody know? (dumb question...the list knows all)
thanks,
toye
