i got this story from billboard on-line:
indigo girls plan u.s. jaunt
amy ray and emily saliers, collectively known as the indigo girls, will hit the road for another u.s. touring leg in support of their latest epic album, "become you." beginning sept. 13 in baltimore and lasting through an oct. 3 show in ann arbor, mich., the shows will find the pair will be supported by belgian modern rock act k's choice.
prior to the tour, the indigo girls will play a pair of labor day weekend gigs aug. 30 in cary, n.c., and the next night in asheville, n.c. k's choice will not appear at those shows. for all performances, ray and saliers will be backed by their regular touring band, which also appeared on "become you" -- carol isaacs (hammond b-3, wurlitzer, piano, accordion, penny whistle, recorder, percussion), clare kenny (acoustic and electric bass), and brady blade (drums and percussion).
released in march, "become you" debuted on top of billboard's top internet albums chart and no. 30 on the billboard 200.

hkf,
a friend of mine is really into downloading shows from this semi-new file sharing site called furthernet. furthernet was originally started by a couple of guys who wanted to share really good, clean dead/phish shows, but since the beginning, the roster list of files is steadily expanding. this site is totally free and completely legal. you can only share files on artists that have ok'd show trading. should you share files that are commercial or put artists up that don't have an "ok" to share, they you will be booted and won't be allowed to use the site for x-# of days. ig has just been added to the list of tradeable artists. i've downloaded some excellent ani shows and look forward to finding some of good ig shows. hopefully, someone finds this info useful!!! :)
here's the forwarded msg w/ the website:
> hey also, the indigo girls have been added to the furthurnet list...

question for someone wiser than i:
lifeblood lists 12/9/90 toad's place as having 19 songs.
the disc i have has 15 tracks (watershed, southland, all along the
watchtower, and get together are not on the cd).
can anyone verify that the disc should only have 15 tracks?
many thanks,

anyone have an extra pair of gold circle seats to the ig show in cary,
nc?
i thought i was going to be away for labor day weekend, but it turns out
that i will be here -- and i want to share the ig concert experience with a
new someone special.
there are still lawn tickets left, but i'd love to get 2 gold circle
seats, if someone can't use theirs.
thanx!

gone bad long time ago. check website below for info if you need it on any
of these.......no art with these....just the discs. it seems just wrong to
just throw them away (i've already replaced most if not all).

wow. wasn't expecting this much interest in these. just to clarify for some
of you. these cdrs are burned "track at once", which means, between each
track, there is a 2 second gap (silence). for live shows, this can be a
little distracting. live shows and all boots are usually burned dao (disc at
once), which means the music flows with no breaks or gaps of silence, etc.
most traders prefer those types of discs.
there were a couple newbies who wanted the entire lot and i'm going to send
them to the first person who did respond. that individual will be getting an
email shortly (amanda). however, if she doesn't want them based upon this
new info, then i'll get in touch with the next person, etc. sorry to the
rest of you. i wish i had more to go around.
there is also good news....i have more offerings coming.......new shows.
nice sound. dao burned. lots of b&p's/trades coming for those.

anne lamott is an extremely progressive, feminist, pro-gay writer. she just happens to be a very devout christian as well, but she is a christian in the true sense of the word-- "love your neighbor as yourself, judge noone, love is never wrong"-- ya know, some of jesus' words in action. that kind of christian.
i love all of her books, but her non-fiction essay collections are my favorites. bird by bird is excellent, as is "traveling mercies". my guess is emily would dig anne, or already does. they sound a lot alike in their politics, etc.

perhaps our texas fans can enlighten us more, but this is a link to a story from the texas triangle about a singer who asked her lesbian fans on a list-serve to not show so much affection in public, so as not to alienate her other fans. she has some nerve! ..deb

actually this letter sparked a big discussion on gogirlsmusic.com list. if
first surfaced about two weeks ago, and melissa whatever the hell her last
name was has posted an apology on her website. i honestly don't know what
the hell made her think thatshe should disassociate herself from that group
of fans. i know i've heard both that she is and isn't gay, but either way,
its a pretty insulting and homophobic thing to do.

boy, that article made her sound really whiny. i think she needs to grow up
and start being grateful she has fans at all. and, she should learn to use
her spellchecker, too. her grammar is not that hot, either. so there.

well, now she's going to end up with an audience full of homophobes, so i

she "doesn't want to become a melissa etheridge.." she'll never have the loyal ,mixed fan-base that melissa has. so no worries about that. or maybe she thinks that lesbianism is something that can be "caught" or "learned" from being around "people of alternate sexual preferences". what she did is very sad. her apology was an attempt to save herself. even more sad.
what next? she'll probably do a duet with some artist of "an alternate sexual preference" to save her own butt, (erm, sounds familiar.)

yeah, i left my scathing, foul-mouthed, immature diatribe on my weblog.
(because i'm bitter, angry and spiteful when applicable)
but honestly, you can't just tell your audience how to behave or how to
act. you should be grateful that you even have an audience. i hope in the
future she comes to understand this.
anyway...must use energy to concentrate on coffee and bagel.
peace,
tracy
