the old fruitmarket, glasgow 1 feb 2002

[...]

this show was part of the celtic connections music festival in glasgow
and that's why it was pushed to the late time of 10pm.

afer securing our front row places, the show was opened by carina
hewitt.  she played the harp and sang and was wonderful.  i was very
impressed at how versatile the harp sounded.

the girls hit the stage around 11pm.  setlist (in the right order as i
have a boot of it):

least complicated
gone again (amy broke her mandolin string within the first few bars, so
they stopped, allowed her to change mandolins and started again.  emily
informed us that you can't play through a broken mandolin string!)
deconstruction
shame on you
watershed - this time played with a regular steel string.  emily used a
classical guitar the night before to play this
become you - amy explained she had to get the band to count in for her
as her injured leg was her "counting leg" and it was injured.
power of two
yield
she's saving me
faye tucker
get out the map
devotion - amy said how she couldn't believe the wind in this area and
asked whether that was a normal thing.  she explained that they were
going to originally take the ferry to dublin that evening, but the
ferries had all been cancelled due to the winds.  so they planned to fly
the next morning instead.  she then asked "how much safer is that?!"
good point.  :-)
philosophy of loss
moment of forgiveness
virginia woolf
johnny rottentale
our deliverance
chickenman(with bitter root)
galileo
closer to fine - they came back on and said they forgot to play this, so
here it is

another great show, although it felt it a little shorter.  i suppose it
was and it was late, so the show lasted 1 hour 40 mins.  amy and emily
also didn't seem to be so talkative, but i think we were spoiled with
all their lovely chatting at manchester.  they seemed pretty tickled
with the scottish accent and paid attention to a guy who shouted out "oh
really".  amy asked him to keep talking, but he quickly kept quiet after
that.  :-)

fashion report -
amy:  tan/light brown stripe shirt with a small flower running down one
the lighter colour stripe.  light brown check trousers and brown thick
soled boots/shoes.
emily:  blue jeans with a black velvety(?) shirt with shiny embroidery
along the front.  i think the same shirt was worn in paris.

[sherlyn's note: this is an edited version of a message which

basically the scoop is this:
ticketbastard internet presale date is friday, feb. 8th.  anybody (not just
cities 97 registered people) should be able to order via the internet on that
date.  regular on sale date (via phone or in person) is saturday, feb. 9th.
you cannot buy tickets through cities 97 as far as i know.  win them, probably,
but not buy them.
again, as i said yesterday, there are several options available for getting
tickets.  if you live in the twin cities and don't want to get [screwed] on the
tb charges go to a record store (see www.first-avenue.com for a list).  every
store they list has a stack of tickets so if the electric fetus is out of
tickets then try down in the valley, etc.  if tb "sells out" there
theoretically are still tickets out there at the record stores because they
actually have tickets, usually in a cigar box behind the counter, and they are
already counted in the "sell out".  the third option is to reserve tickets
through www.redpets.com.  they can be picked up the day of the show and they
also do not [screw] you on the charges like tb.
if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me privately.
thanks for listening :)

well, they probably do, however i was told to go to cities97.com and
  i
did. so i guess we can get them both places. i mean cities 97 is
sponsorring. so you'd think they'd have them too. this is bizarre.

while i was poking around on craig's list looking for extra slim's
tickets (i know a lot of people who are still looking... seems like
everyone wants a ticket, but no one has an extra... i should've bought
extras during the presale...), i found this:

extra santa cruz tickets!  who knows if the person is selling at face

keep your fingers crossed that mi rinda and i get our minneapolis tix.
i've been rather lucky with tickets this time around (nashville and san
francisco... have tickets for both... both sold out), so let's hope that
luck stays.

[sherlyn's note: this is an excerpt of a message which was

i can finally post about on sale news for chicago's show on 3/19 at the
metro.  the ig site states the following as of a minute ago:

tickets go on sale thursday, february 21
and are only available to members
of wxrt's "vip" membership list.
those who are not yet vip's can register
at www.wxrt.com
to become members and they
will be sent an email from wxrt
with the link to ticketmaster
and a password that will allow them to buy tickets.

no word on the ticketmaster or the metro chicago websites about this
procedure but i'll take ig's word for it.  i have since gone to the xrt site
to become a "vip member".  it was painless and free.  i received a
confirmation email with a cheesy thank you for becoming an xrt vip member
blah blah email.  no password.  i suppose i will have to just stress out
more waiting for that.

[...]
anyway, hope to see some of you there...greg
