i am sure this has been posted already but if not, check out the below link
for an interview and a nice video link to ig playing gone again at the
knitting factory.  it was fun to watch two girls kiss halfway through the
song who were in the front row only to have the camera quickly pan back to a
full shot.  very interesting.  can't wait til amazon gets that damn cd to be
mailbox already!

[sherlyn's note: this message was originally sent to the indigo
girls mailing list at netspace.org.]

there is a review of become you, as well as a poll on atlanta's favorite
homegrown musical act.   to participate in the poll, go to

http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/living/index.html

the review is below:
http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/living/music/0312indigo.html

indigos offer varied shades of insight
by sonia murray
atlanta journal-constitution staff writer

"become you"
indigo girls. epic.
12 tracks.
grade: b

a great deal in "become you," the new release from the indigo girls, the
decatur folk duo, works. sometimes it's the pair's writing, sometimes it's
their musicianship and sometimes it's the singing. rarely, however, do all
of those pistons fire in the same song.

let's start with the lyrics, as it was arguably this quality that helped
amy ray and emily saliers break through in the early '90s, offering a
refuge from pop music then awash in grunge and hip-hop. at their best, they
can write about simple emotions and situations in a way that lifts them up
into the rare air of eloquence.

we common folks end relationships with rudimentary statements like "you
know, we're just not making it." saliers wraps things up with "we were just
an empty dream too big for hope alone to fill."

we might say, "get out of my way, redneck"; but on the title track of the
girls' first album in three years, ray turns the sentiment into a
reflection on a shared past, religion and even nature itself: "i see you
walking in the glare down the country road we share / our southern blood,
my heresy / damn that ol' confederacy."

the feathery saliers and more resonant ray combine into one especially
lovely vocal on "she's saving me," a warm, slowly-unfolding observation
built on an acoustic guitar.

and their fretwork on the mandolin provides the swiftness in the kick in
"yield"; it's an energy that becomes even more palpable when the hand
claps, call and response, harmonicas and wild drums chop away in "bitterroot."

but the only place where the vocals move beyond casual unaffectedness, the
arrangement is more than simply a pleasant journey and the sentiment in the
verses just brings it all home is on "you've got to show." on this flat-out
soulful glimpse at two tenuous lovers, all of the indigos' strengths are on
display.

indigo girls will be performing at 8 p.m. tonight at variety playhouse. it
is sold out.

to hear selections from the recording by indigo girls, call 511, enter 8600

subject: [ig-news] partial chat transcript

[sherlyn's note: this message was originally sent to the indigo
girls mailing list at netspace.org.]

indigo_girls_live says: emily: it's about a farm boy, it's a love story,
about a girl in love with a farm boy who is in love with another girl. and
he tries to fill up his day, in a meantime this girl watching him knowing
she's second, trying to fill up her time as well.
sqturtle in onstage3 asks: for amy, do you believe the universe is guided
or random?
indigo_girls_live says: amy: i believe it's guided by randomness. so i
believe it's guided but i believe it's random and i think we have influence
over it. there's something greater than us that has created something or a
pattern of randomness of some type.
meobrien in onstage3 asks: how have you two managed to stay a working and
compatible duo all this time?
indigo_girls_live says: emily:we're kind of like sisters, we're old
friends. we have pleanty of space from each other, and when we come
together we each bring something different to the group.
indigo_girls_live says: amy: and we keep it fresh, we make the records we
want to make, we change the set list every night, we don't play songs when
we don't want to play them. we sort of come to a meeting of the minds on
what the indigo girls will do. i think us staying
indigo_girls_live says: together is respect and our differences.
indigo_girls_live says: emily: being steadfast.
devi5678 in onstage1 asks: just getting my request in early. will you
please play philosophy of loss tomorrow night?  that song and blood and
fire are two songs that have really helped me through some hard times.
dishdiva says: clever of you to come to this chat and get your request in
early!
indigo_girls_live says: amy: we won't play "blood and fire" because that's
one of the songs we don't play anymore.
indigo_girls_live says: emily: we sort of get there and decide, so if we
want to honor that request we will
edward_892 in onstage3 asks: after 15 years what was the best festival you
played at?
indigo_girls_live says: amy: i'd have to say bumpershoot in seattle and
newport folk festival.
barbfromnj in onstage1 asks: we love romeo and juliet. do you ever play
that live?
indigo_girls_live says: amy: yeah, every now and then, just not as much as
i used to.
lynnae81 in onstage3 asks: do you have a favorite venue to play in?  (be
honest)
indigo_girls_live says: amy: be honest (laughs) for me i have two favorite
venues the bowry ballroom in nyc and the chicago metro.
indigo_girls_live says: emily: mine is the greek theatre in berkley.
indigo_girls_live says: emily: that's a good question.

tomboy1165 in onstage3 asks: is the dynamic of a show where you're on
electric guitars different to the dynamic of an acoustic show, in terms of
audience engagement?
indigo_girls_live says: amy: i think it has to do with the size of the
audience. i think when there's 5,000 seat venue you can engage the
audience, but it probably feels more engaged in a club, when you play
electric in the club it's crazy. when you are playing a large venue

indigo_girls_live says: it's more ingaging playing acoustic. don't you
think emily?
indigo_girls_live says: emily: yeah.
indigopins in onstage3 asks: i once talked to you, amy, and i stumbled over
telling you are wonderful.  do you think it's amusing when people get so
nervous talking to you guys?

indigo_girls_live says: amy: it's not as amusing to me as much as i just
want people to realize that we're both human. i think that nervousness,
i've felt that before talking to people i admire and it's hard to get past
that to relating. so i can imagine how nervous that person
indigo_girls_live says: is talking to me, so it doesn't make me laugh, it
brings out the caretaker in me, i'm like, "it's ok, it's ok."

bankchic1 in onstage1 asks: i just wanted to thank you for some of the most
beautiful music.  i really love it.  please keep it up.
fig740 in onstage1 asks: amy, your song for your grandmother was so
poignant. how are you doing now that she's gone?

indigo_girls_live says: amy: i'm fine. my grandmother died about 2 years
ago. i'm fine. when i sing that song, i think about her and sometimes i
don't sing that song because i don't want to be sad. we had a great time
together and i feel good about that. some people don't have that time and i
look at it that way.

lowman1979 in onstage2 asks: i had the chance to see your performance with
the atlanta ballet and it was wonderful.  are you planning on doing
anything like that again?

indigo_girls_live says: emily: yeah, we're talking about doing that again
with the ballat.

chance0631 in onstage3 asks: emily or amy, do you have a favorite quote or
a specific philosophy by which you try to live?
indigo_girls_live says: emily: i don't have a quote, but i try to live by
the golden rule.
indigo_girls_live says: amy: i'll go for the golden rule myself.

daringplanet in onstage1 asks: i have recently discovered blue grass and
the music of flatt and scruggs. would you consider bluegrass an influence
on your music?

indigo_girls_live says: amy: yeah, the influence of blue grass is the more
appalachians blue grass but more in the school or roots like field recordings.

indigo_girls_live says: like someone singing in their kitchen, caught on tape.

indigo_girls_live says: emily: i wouldn't say blue grass has influenced my
music, but i love blue grass, different kinds.

gorillagorilla2 in onstage3 asks: i am a fifth grade teacher and i'd love
to know what words of wisdom you would give to fifth graders on what it
takes to be successful in this wild world of ours.  thanks!

indigo_girls_live says: amy: knowledge is power, so learn as much as you
can from whomever you can learn from. not just in school, but everywhere,
on the street, in nature.
dishdiva says: amy, emily, thank you for being our guests tonight on msn
live. best of luck with your new release
dishdiva says: "become you."

dishdiva says: from all of your fans here on msn live, thanks for being here!

indigo_girls_live says: we appreciate our audience so much and we
especially understand that more as we go back out on the road, seeing
people in the audience singing songs. it's very inspirational for us. thank
you for being patient with the chat. we're sorry we couldn't get to
indigo_girls_live says: everyone's questions.

hey all!

kudos for finding out about the availability of the tix for the hamburg
and berlin dates at www.kartenhaus.de go to some unsung hero
(probably a heroine, really...) not to lil' me...
but i thought i'd post it, so other people who might wanna grab some tix
get a chance to.

another major ticket site www.eventim.de just added the tix to their site
too. prices are about the same (around 20 euros per ticket).
the koeln date is on kartenhaus.de already but is not yet being sold.
it's not even up at eventim.de.

also, i checked with the venue in hamburg (der schlachthof) and they
said they're still negotiating with the girls... and would know on
thursday or friday for sure, if they'd have them there or not.
so, there could be a change of venue for that date.

i'll post about it, once i hear from the venue again.

:)

recognise that clip of "bury my heart at wounded knee" where emily is
singing and amy is playing guitar?  it looks like it's from a produced
video but i don't recognize it.
entertainment

thanks!
