hey all!

today the koeln date has gone on sale too.
tickets are available at kartenhaus.de.
eventim didn't have them yet last time i checked but they were one
day behind kartenhaus on the two other dates, too, so they'll probably
be selling the koeln tix by tomorrow or something.

be well,
kathrin

the show was amazing!!  they were in such a great mood and the crowd was
excellent and i think they enjoyed that a lot.  they were interacting really
well with us...especially amy.

the set list was good though i can't recall the order....gone again, power of
two, devotion, virginia woolf, chickenman/bitteroot, galileo, closer to fine,
kid fears, and a bunch of the new songs.  i'm sure there are older ones that i
am forgetting!  but they're voices and moods were just on last night.  emily
dedicated philosophy of loss to her parents who were in the crowd.  that was
sweet.

they looked great!  amy was wearing her black/gray jeans, black boots, and a
light green button down.  emily was wearing all black.  they looked good..

gerard mchugh opened which is always....interesting with dancers and actors
and all.  it was.......hmm....maybe someone else can help me out b/c i can't
think of the right word!

anyway, that's my brief two cents.  hope everyone else enjoyed it!

indigo girls share a night of new music and classics
february 18th - the knitting factory - hollywood, ca
by sandra t. molina

who says you cant go home again? not the indigo girls musically
at least. the duo of amy ray and emily saliers have gone back to
their folk-rock roots with their next release, "become you,"
scheduled for release this month.

to help promote the cd, indigo girls hit the road for a few months
holding special preview listening parties in small, intimate
venues. their stop in hollywood, ca landed them at the knitting
factory, monday, february 18 where they put on a short set of new
songs mixed with indigo girls' classics.

opening with "gone again," ray and saliers proved from the start
that playing acoustic without a band didnt mean that they weren't
ready to rock the sold-out, standing-room-only audience to its
core. the duo seemed to feed off the vibes of the high-energy
crowd. moving comfortably into the ultimate crowd-pleaser, "closer
to fine," ray and saliers were in fine form, both instrumentally
and vocally. their guitar work was strong, while their voices
blended beautifully together in fine indigo girl fashion.

their stellar showmanship helped interweave the new songs,
including the rousing "become you," "shes saving me" and
"deconstruction" with the old songs perfectly. playing these songs
during previous tour stops surely helped them perform them
masterfully for this crowd, which sang and danced to these songs
almost as enthusiastically as to the classics.

however, there was no doubt that both ray and saliers and their
audience took great pleasure in the older tunes such as "galileo,"
"kid fears," "get out the map" and "shame on you." the last song
seemed most appropriate with the evening's close knit party time
atmosphere. ray, with her happy dancing feet, and saliers'
exceptional guitar licks soared during this song.

at one point during the show, ray asked the audience for special
requests and one cheeky fan asked for an autograph, which ray and
saliers happily obliged. ray then asked the delighted fan to come
on stage to take a picture with the duo for their web site.

everyone enjoyed the give and take of the moment as well as the
rest of the evening. the indigo girls gave 100 percent of
themselves musically, and the audience showed their appreciation
in kind.

with a promise to come back to a "nicer place" during their summer
tour, the indigo girls exited the stage having kept one promise
they lived up to their musical legacy.

subject: [ig-news] women who rock magazine (igc)

[sherlyn's note: this message was originally sent to the indigo
girls mailing list at netspace.org.]

i don't think i've seen anything about this posted yet...

i was in tower records today, and while they don't have become you in stock
(!)
they did have a magazine called "women who rock." i picked it up, thinking of
michal's live365 station, and it turned out to have an article on the indigo
girls, about the studio experience of making "become you". it's pretty
tech-oriented, but an interesting read even for an instrument ignoramus
such as
myself, and there's a nice full-page picture.

cover price is $4.99 - which is pretty steep if all you want is three pages of
igc - but i think it's worth the cost. there are articles on everyone from
michelle branch to suzanne vega, an article by jonatha brooke, and spotlights
on a bunch of cool indie artists. and they give a full tech rundown of
everybody they feature, which is bound to be cool for musicians. and
personally, i don't mind paying $4.99 for a magazine that's this good and
which
has been so long in coming.

there is a webpage: http://www.womenwhorockmag.com

be warned, though, the website's still back on their first issue (top 100
women
in rock - ig among them, of course) and it isn't much.but the magazine is
good.
go buy it. :)
