i saw some posts about ig appearing on june 1st in nyc on the weekend
today show. here's a link to more details on where they perform and
when. it's kind of old and the latest check of the site lists no
current details. but for those wanting to see this, i thought it
would be helpful. i sure did pick a great weekend to come to ny and
visit the folks. ig on saturday, ig next tuesday and wednesday.
hope to see some ny fans there...greg

hey y'all,
last night's tour opener in portsmouth was full of good energy. amy
and emily were in great moods and they sounded just perfect. as did
the band. claire, brady, and carol were right on.
they kicked things off with bitterroot. amy is definitely on her way
to becoming a mouth harp virtuouso, she sounded terrific. what a long
way she has come. i didn't write down the set list, maybe someone else
did? the songs i remember are tried to be true, galileo, get out the
map, chickenman, moment of forgiveness, deconstruction, starkville,
closer to fine (with guest vocals by sarah bettens of k's choice),
yield, cold beer and remote control, least complicated, a kick-ass
version of become you, you've got to show, collecting you, jonas and
ezekial (yea!), go, trouble, ozilline, and shame on you. hope i didn't
leave anything out.
some miscellaneous moments:
amy pointed out that they were using in-ear monitors for the first
time. she wasn't much liking it and thought that maybe some things
should remain the same. apparently they were getting some crackling
interference in the monitors from either the navy or the coast guard.
amy wanted us to know that if we saw them jump or stick their fingers
in their ears, that they weren't doing anything weird. then on second
thought, she said that it was weird, but to bear with them. :)
last night was the first night of a waning full moon, and from the
stage it was a beautiful site from the stage. amy looked up at one
point and said, "whoa, look at the moon". and then she introduced the
next song as, "...a song for my dearly departed grandma." what a
perfect moment to play ozilline!
emily pointed out the cutest little girl in pig tails who had been
singing along to every song. emily told her that if she forgot the
words to a song, she would look to her for help. and then they dubbed
her the "indigo teleprompter". hehe that was cute.
oh, i guess i should give the obligatory fashion report. amy - a red,
white, and blue 70's style half-sleeve t-shirt with a red line drawing
of a woman's face on the front and '76 printed in black on the front
left hand bottom part of the shirt, and blue and white pin-striped
jeans (kind of like train conductor's jeans). emily - jeans, a black
rayon-y shirt and the pink and white beaded short-sleeved shirt over
that.
definitely a fun night. :)
