[sherlyn's note: this message was originally sent to the indigo
girls mailing list at netspace.org.]

hi,

i got the info from the k's choice forum
http://www.hbvl.be/vindzoek/archief/artikel_detail.asp?id={1e053605-ca9e-4a87-a1
83-64dfde266ab2}&check=online

the review is in dutch, are there any dutchies on this list who aren't
following the girls around like now and can translate it?

what i understand is that the indigo girls invited sarah bettens of k's
choice and liam o'maonlai and fiachna o'droainain of hothouse flowers on
stage to perform their hit "closer to fine" with them. with this unique sign
of brotherhood on friday all headliners of that single day were on stage at
the same time. it was raining on friday. presale of tickets was 20 % higher
than the year before. the average of people attending the folkfestival is
25,000 a day.

btw, as i'm new to the list i don't know if this was mentioned before, but
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/folk/cambridge_2002/ shows live videos from the
main stage of the cambridge folkfestival. the girls will be on stage soon.

subject: [ig-news] providence show info

following is the official press release for the ig concert in providence, ri on 9/20, including ticket information.

please note that tickets go onsale this thursday, august 8th!

also, for those who are wondering how to get the "best seats" possible (an almost-silly question because ppac is such a beautiful venue for a show), i've been told that you have a better chance of doing so through the ppac box office (online, in-person, or on the phone) than through ticketmaster.  and fewer additional fees.
there is a six-ticket limit/person.

please pass this info on to anyone who may be interested - the more tickets sold, the more money goes to charity!
thank you!

peace,  flora

press release
indigo girls to play benefit show at ppac

popular folk-rock duo amy ray and emily saliers, better known as indigo girls, will perform at the providence performing arts center on friday, september 20, at 8 p.m. this concert is being presented by the brown university concert agency and will benefit two local providence grassroots organizations, direct action for rights and equality (dare) and rhode island jobs with justice.

in their 22 years of musical collaboration, indigo girls have sold over 8,000,000 albums and earned six grammy nominations.  the atlanta-based pair recently released their eighth studio album, become you, and have since been playing to sold-out crowds of thousands across the u.s., canada, and europe.  known for their intricate harmonies, introspective lyrics, and stellar technical musicianship, indigo girls have also established a presence for themselves outside the traditional boundaries of the music world.  ray and saliers have committed their music and their time to a wide range of sometimes controversial issues, including women's rights, gun control, the rights of indigenous peoples, gay and lesbian rights, and protection of the environment.

a portion of the net proceeds from the concert will be donated to direct action for rights and equality (dare) and rhode island jobs with justice, two organizations working to organize and support local communities in their struggles for social, political, and economic justice.

tickets are $30, plus a $2 facility charge and other applicable charges, and are available to the general public at 10 a.m. on thursday, august 8th, through the ppac box office, located at 220 weybosset street in downtown providence; (401) 421-2997; www.ppacri.org; www.ticketmaster.com; or 1-800-the-tick.  brown students may purchase tickets for $20, plus a $2 facility charge, in person at the ppac box office or at the brown student activities office.
