here is a small article that the globe ran on ig today!!

take care!!

honoring the earth to hear the indigo girls' amy ray tell it, it was a
natural fit for her and performing partner emily saliers to appear at radio
station wbos's holiday concert tomorrow night to benefit honor the earth.
''it is great that [the people at wbos] are really supporting causes. ...
unfortunately it's rare for a radio station,'' said ray in a phone interview
last week. both the indigo girls and fellow benefit performer aimee mann are
large enough acts that they don't have to play radio station concerts to get
radio station airplay. ''we love performing with aimee, and when we have a
chance to perform and support a cause, we do it,'' said ray. in fact, it was
the artists who chose the station rather than the other way around. ''each
year we look at what we'd like to do and how much money we think we can
raise,'' said ray. ''then we work out our schedule and talk to other acts and
see what we can do.'' ray and saliers use their success to support the
efforts of native americans and specifically, honor the earth, in saving the
environment. (before tomorrow's concert, there is a planned announcement of a
new honor the earth initiative to seek alternative energy sources.) ray isn't
surprised that recent international events and the possibility of us troops
going to iraq have brought environmental causes to the fore. ''i think if
there's anything that's good out of this is that people are talking about
it,'' said ray. ''you know kids in school just get it. they know we need to
find other ways of doing things. it's the rest of us who need to be
reminded.''
