i had the fortune of hearing robert mirabal play at jazz fest last year and he was great. he's a native american. i think he had a special on pbs called music from a painted cave. his show was more than a concert, it was like a play. his cedar flute playing was awesome. my mom is a huge fan of his, too.

speaking of ig being everywhere, i got my new people magazine - and
one of my favorite things to do is the puzzler (it's about the only
crossword i can actually do *heh*). one of the clues was "_________
you (indigo girls album)" *hee*
you know, after the amazing show last night here in iowa city, it was
just the thing i needed to be all giddy over the girls again. i had
such a wonderful time - but as always, they sang the wood song and i
cried and thought about my friend carrie (hi if you're still out
there!) and my life. so powerful - so amazing.
and damn. they looked sooooooo good. it had been way too long. :)

get snug with cosy sheridan, february 28.
she can charm the socks off a crowd. new texas magazine

whether performing at carnegie hall or the cowgirl hall of fame, cosy
sheridan is a first rate entertainer. her music is spellbinding, her
lyrics amazing and her delivery is often very, very amusing. this
consummate performer is a rare treat - she plays relevant folk music!
according to the boston globe, cosy sheridan has a wicked eye for the
excesses of our fast-food, tv-happy and noisome culture. she is a
wonderfully lively, very funny and enormously amiable entertainer.

cosy, who studied both voice and guitar, was referred to as "musical
sponge" during her student days. she has garnered top honors from some
of the country's most prestigious songwriting contests and teaches both
song writing and acoustic guitar. cosy is sharp, compassionate and
candid. she remains the unrepentant voice of our conscience.
sheridan weaves lyric genius and picture-perfect melodies into the
fabric of her meticulous arrangements, affording the listener an
opportunity to experience contemporary folk in an entirely new light.

hey y'all!
riding on the tail end of the ig concert, i had to do my quarterly
check in at the kristen hall website to see if she was performing at
eddie's any time that i could see her. what i found out was that she
is performing there on may 10th (a saturday) and now i am hellbent on
flying down to catch the shows (there are two).
it would be like a dream come true for me.
so - to that end, are there any kh fans in the decatur/atlanta area
that are planning on going to the show? i haven't the first clue
about the area since i have never been there...but i am willing to
risk it, it means that much to me.
i've gathered that i would need to fly into atlanta int'l and i have
scoped out several hotels that are relatively near the area and i
also think that i could take marta in some fashion to get where i
need to be.
but if anyone down that way plans to go or has any pointers for this
wayward traveller, email me privately :) thanks!!!! *bounces in
excitement*

for anyone who is thinking about going to the benefit, get ready to enjoy
the heck out of group sex. they are quite possibly one of my favorite
bands to see, and knowing that they'll be playing (with emily playing
too, no less!) makes me wish i were back in atlanta. have fun!

ok, folks, here is the glimmer of an old fashioned boot tree: the boot i=
s exceptional quality and, what?, i am here to organize it =3d)
just need 4 more branches (already have two plus maybe a european branch)=
. let me know if you wanna be one. =20
i also have the liner ready to be placed on the web so everyone gets a co=
py from their own printer.
ok, the first four :)

thanks to everyone who responded to my plea for branches for the sst boot=
tree. i have contacted bon, sandy in canada, kristina in germany, shawn=
ie, vablake, lisa, andrea, jen and marie. also have two in reserve in ca=
se this boot tree goes over the top =3d)
this boot was donated by lisa n in dat form and put on cdr by joy. both =
did a superb job and i am honored to offer it to the list. =20
i hope to have the liner in two places on the web, both diane and kathri=
n have offered. the liner is a simple one-fold and gives the setlist and=
the performers' names. the highlight of the whole piece is the renditio=
n of power of two by the show's band, the breeders. it really rocks! =20
i hope to have the copies of the show to all the branches by the end of n=
ext week and then the fun can begin. i'll let you know who to contact fo=
r your copy.
directions: get some blanks together (2) and three first-class postage s=
tamps. put them in a padded envelope along with your return address (on =
an address label would be great) and a thank you note if you feel so incl=
ined =3d). =20
when the tree is announced, find your corresponding birthdate/volunteer b=
ranch and send them an email asking for their street address.
send the padded envelope using three more first-class stamps and mail tha=
t thing. :)
ok, the setlist is:

disk 1:
jean smith spoken word
under your skin
gabriel
roll the dice
tengo la vida
faye tucker
pulling a cloud
woodfloors
love is everything
band intro
pale light
go
=20
disk 2:
=20
or
vestigos
chez virtue
way below radio
soon to be nothing
cannonball
power of two
encore:
fisherman
midnight train georgia

each password is individual. it is not a "group" one like when the indigo =
girls use them. you have to pay to get it.
