i know this was a while ago, but i just found out that
i have a six degrees connection to ig!
my friend rebecca is going to be opening for shawn
colvin at the stonehill college concert (in easton ma)
this month. shawn played at lillth fair with the
girls.
wouldn't surprise me if i had more connections, but
that's the only one i can come up with right now.

has anyone been keeping up with the news lately? i'm surprized i haven't
seen it come up here yet. but.....

the word has been that the episcapalians need to elect a new bishop, and
an openly gay pastor
has been nominated......isn't that great? too bad there are so many
misinformed, and outrageously stubborn and homophobic  parishes  who
have threatened to break away
if he is elected.

i would ignore those churches and elect him anyway. my .o2 worth.

gene robinson was elected by his diocese (geographic make up)
he was approved by committee on friday.  you can read the news
of the episcopal church's general convention at this page:
http://gc2003.episcopalchurch.org/gcnews/
most of it is video and you will need some sort of video reader such
as real video or windows media.

gene robinson was on either fresh air or atc last week and was
very eloquent in his speaking.  i can see why his diocese was so
enamoured with him.  i doubt seriously that his election and
approval will split the episcopal church.  that church has seen far
greater changes in the past and survived, so i doubt this is going to
have much (although i'm sure some) effect.

convention!

rev. gene robinson is hopefully going to be my new bishop.  i've worked =
with him before, as a nh episcopalian, and sexuality aside, he is the =
best candidate for the job. as our minister says  "i wonder to what =
extent the episcopal church will have upheld the baptismal vow, "will =
you seek and serve christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as =
yourself?""=20

this website contains the contents of the letter and indicates that it is

determined.  however, it isn't listed anywhere on his official site

thought this would be of general interest.

cnn has put out a poll on whether or not marriage should be only between a
man and a woman.  not many conservatives have found it yet!  with a quick
click, you can bring up our numbers!

i just received this and clicked on it to vote - so far only 33% think
marriage is between a man and woman.  67% are voting it doesn't matter. (out of
nearly 7480000 voters.  please let your voice be heard.

ig are playing next week in central park's summer stage.  anyone
familiar with the venue?  on the website, they said no chairs, no
backpacks, etc.  do people bring blankets to sit on, or is it a mostly
standing thing?  also, it said tickets are available "at the door" for
an extra $5.  any chance they'll sell out before then -- or does this
outdoor venue not "sell out"?

thanks,
sue

and to bring it back to sigc, indigenous have opened for indigo girls.
unfortunately, i didn't enjoy that experience. they are a harder rock sort
of band. if i were in nh, though, i would definitely go see erin mckeown.

it's generated by a computer program, though. it seems to be looking up
songs and stuff on a database and plugging in names. so it wouldn't be the
same for everyone.

according to the summerstage web site, coolers and chairs are not permitted.
in fact, there is a whole lovely list of what not to bring (don't you just
love it!):

please respect the rules of the city of new york department of parks &
recreation at central park summerstage. please do not bring alcoholic
beverages, glass bottles, chairs of any kind, pets, bicycles, rollerblades,
video cameras, tape recorders, or flash cameras to central park summerstage.
all bags will be searched. small bags and backpacks (17" x 12" x 10") only
and absolutely no coolers permitted.

if you hit reload on your browser it gives a different review (i got 3
different ones for 1200 curfews)  they are all just as biting and
cruel (and slightly humorous in a weird way - maybe just the way he
writes.)  it's all program driven because he repeats the same
phrases over and over throughout his reviews.
