ticketmaster just opened up sales for the november 13 & 14 shows at the fillmore in san francisco.  prices are 40$ each plus good old convenience charge of $8 per...  ig website said on sale date is october 4th - but ignore that since they are currently on sale!

good luck!

i notice they're touring the western states in october and it says
"october & november tour" so hopefully more dates will be posted.
really hope they don't ignore arizona yet again. they haven't been
here since 1999! and the shows i went to always had tons of people
at them. it's just not fair. :(

very nice concert.  they played lots of new songs, many i really
liked.  i thought it was very generous of them to play again when they
played to about 1500 people the night of the blackout.  tonight, the
venue was very crowded and felt sold out, though i knew a few people
who couldn't make it.  i brought nine friends with me and they all had
a great time.

i have a somewhat extensive collection of live recordings, gotten
through trading and bnping.  my collection is filled with gov't mule,
warren haynes, the allman brothers band, derek trucks band, susan
tedeschi and lots of old and contemporary blues artists.  i also have
some older hard rock like hendrix, janis, cream and clapton.  i am
looking for a few ig shows and have very few shows from my other love:
folk-rock music.

if you want to trade, etc., email me off line.

angela c from brooklyn, ny

ps - does anyone know where the archives are located.  on the other
lists i'm a part of, i usually just go to the site and check out what
people are talking about when i have some time.  so i subscribe to
them inno mail format.

it is a bit more accurate to say that the encore was chicken-bitterroot man. i have been to 20+ shows, and that song last night was in the top 3 i've ever heard them do. amy was amazing, and michelle was great on harmonica.

that pretty much sums it up.

heck, when you get invited to join the headliners onstage as a special guest
during the encore, don't you think you should at least play the song well
enough for them to sing along?

i'd just like to say that i bought eddie izzard tickets on ticketmaaster.com
yesterday and two $40 tickets cost me... $80(!)

no fees. i nearly had a coranary. so it *is* possible for tm to not tack on
the fees - is what i'm telling you... must be a venue/artist thing.

just a question for yall....

i have just been chatting with my friends who are die hard phish fans and we were talking about the success of their website that makes all phish shows available for download, soundboard etc....for the about the price of a cd.

this would obviously be my dream for ig to do this, since i have been collecting boots for a while - so my friends and i were talking about if this would be successful for ig (phish has since made over a million dollars doing this) what do you all think ??

obviously phish has a very large following, and many of their fans tape and trade. but i think there is a good contingent of people out there who would buy a number of shows from ig .... plus all the people who email me and are looking for a specific show from the summer, they could just get it themselves.... some people say why pay for it when you can trade it ....and my only answer to that is  - soundboard.  nothing like a show straight from the soundboard, you can understand every word, and no drunk fans yelling in the mic.  but then there are the costs associated with starting it, running it etc.

so i was just wondering  if you guys think it would work  for them ?

so they didn't sing at all, or they tried but couldn't because the other
people played badly?

so confused,

i have heard it has killed the taper community in phish - and the dead is
selling their boots (*as is peter gabriel, duran duran, and a few clear
channel shows where you literally can walk out of the show with a cd of the
show you just heard.)

pearl jam did full tour releases for 2000 tour - which was awesome - cus by
the time they were released, you knew which shows you absolutely needed
(hint - get las vegas 2000 just for the tenth anniversary encore) but this
year you can only buy certain shows in stores (boston #3 is worth every
cent you will pay for it) the problem being - pearl jam encoraged trading
of the official boots in 2000, but switched their policy so that "people
should buy them when there available" so people who are economicaly
challenged were only given a brief window to buy shows. so people posted
them online via bit torrents, emailing the link for the download (you could
download immeadiately and a pressed cd comes in 3 wks for pearl jam, phish
is just allowing you to download.

i dunno - i have heard some of the phish boots - sound great but the fans
were doing it for free as tapers like sugarmegs.org and tons of others.
maybe if ig released like 5 shows - fans vote on which shows and/or release
everything and allow trading...

radiohead just doesnt care - there shows seem to be online within a week,
as do most good rem shows. and maybe i'm crazy - i actually sometimes
prefer an open air vs. soundboard tape.

it's a cool idea - but i heard the logistics of the service is quite
rediculous. if a cover is done legal teams need to rush phone calls for
permissions and such.

www.themusic.com is doing gabriels '03 tour - a bit pricey - but i kinda
like that concept...

now if ig were to offer shows from their vaults...i'd ebay most of my music
collection.

ig fans need to start using soulseek - cheap way of solving the problem -
soulseek is like god for bootleg traders. puts everything else to complete
shame

if you think phish has it going on check out the internet archive:

and as a side note, soundboard definitely doesn't ensure quality of recor=

has anyone else ever heard of mary lydia ryan? she's a seattle artist,
i first heard of her when my ex brought me her first cd after a trip up
there. she's a piano-playing singer-songwriter, somewhat reminiscent
of tori, sarah, or natalie. some of her stuff is a bit jazzy. i like her a
lot and just found out she put out a second release after the first one
that i plan to pick up. here's her website...

hey y'all,

here's what it said about our girls in the zagat survey music guide 1,000
top albums of all time:

indigo girls, indigo girls - g (=grammy)       26, 27, 25, 23 (o/s/m/p*)
1989, epic; "closer to fine", www.indigogirls.com

"the spine-tingling harmonies of emily saliers and amy ray" "speak to your
soul" ("these georgia girls rock!") the "accessible folk-pop" duo's
"emotionally penetrating" debut that features r.e.m., hothouse flowers, and
luka bloom and the "catchy" "sing-along" single closer to fine; with
"moving" lyrics that "combine the angst of young adult drama with the
idealism of a better tomorrow; it's "great for nights when you're feeling
blue."

*the four numbers in the upper right corner are ratings for:
o=overall quality
s=songwriting
m=musicianship
p=production

0-9      poor to fair
10-15 fair to good
16-19 good to very good
20-25 very good to excellent
26-30 extraordinary to perfection

besides the lilith fair crowd (sarah, natalie, dido, sheryl), i was thrilled
to see patty griffin's living with ghosts included--but not only that, this
album was in the top 50 overall quality tied with arethra franklin's lady
soul and fourth, fourth, on the list!!!  (miles davis' kind of blue, and
john coltrane's a love supreme were #1 and #2, respectively)

also, the same album was #2 behind bob dylan's blood on the tracks for top
50 songwriting (#3 and 4 were mozart albums, and #5 was bob dylan's blonde
on blonde.

under the various headings:
breakup - bob dylan's song, tangled up in blue is #1
rainy day - gillian welch's song orphan girl, beth orton's song central
reservation
road music - joni mitchell's song coyote (from the album hejira-an emily top
10 desert cd)

anyway, i'm relatively naive about music.  neil or tim or someone else could
better evaluate whether the people and zagat in general did a good job
surveying and ranking all these wonderful artists.

what zagat did was subcategorize all these albums into top ratings(pop
albums, musicianship, songwriting, etc.), by genre, decades, and special
features (air guitar, work-out, rowdy, chill-out, teen spirit, etc.).

it gives me a place to start listening to other categories of music.

good question, andrea.  hard to say.  kevn (where the hell's the i?)
got up there and just sang all the verses (without singing the actual
bob dylan melody, by the way - he made up his own).  sometimes he
would add extra measures of guitar between each line of the verse,
sometimes he wouldn't.  michelle kinda did her own thing, playing the
harmonica a bit and strumming, but amy and emily just looked at him,
trying to follow along as best as they could.  when they figured out
he was going into a chorus, they attempted to sing a harmony on just
the line "for the times they are a-changin'."

i've never had an encore kill a music high so badly!  don't get me
wrong.  i am all for the girls bringing out friends of theirs to have
some fun and have been introduced to some great artists that way
(like michael franti and spearhead).  but there have been a few times
when they've brought somebody up and i've thought to myself, "am i
the only one that thinks this person just plain *can't sing*?"  i've
never commented on it because i figure to each their own, everyone's
tastes are different, etc.  but i think that in this case i can say
that everybody in the entire place thought this guy was terrible.  if
anybody disagrees, lemme know and we can have a good ol' fashioned
list brawl.

well, after being on and off and on and off and on and off this list,
i'm finally back!  having moved a few times in the past couple of
years, my forwarding alias at bigfoot.com sometimes doesn't keep up
with me as rapidly as it should, and as we all know, bounced emails to
this list cause one to be unsubscribed...

i'm a 35 year old male living (now) in the spokane wa area.  i've been
listening to ig since the first studio album was released (i saw the
ctf video premere on mtv, and the next day was in a local record store
and they were playing prince of darkness, and i asked who that was, and
walked out with the cd.), and am tickled that they're working on yet
another offering of new material for all us rabid fans.

my favorite ig moment thus far was at an acoustic duo show they
performed at union hall in phoenix.  they were about to leave for
australia, and were starting with a new band for that part of the tour,
so they were on their own for the night.  the state was mostly a bunch
of candles and them.  this was the shaming of the sun tour, and rather
than being limited by the lack of band, they were just going for it.

they were doing shed your skin (an acoustic duo version -- no electric
guitar!), and amy was just intense.  when she got to the lines "i got
the hangman, i got milagro, i got this celebration too", they both
clamped their hands onto the strings of their guitars, allowing them to
be acapella, and she gestured to include the entire theater ("i got
this ce-le-bra-tion, too").  i still get goosebumps as i type this!

afterwards, amy commented "well, that was interesting"...  i'm guessing
she didn't know how incredibly powerful that was for the audience!

anyway, it's good to be back!

yes, but high road touring is their booking agent and it has always been pretty accurate in the past.  rcam's emails often only mention the confirmed shows on the date that they are sent out.  slc may have just been confirmed.

also, the whole seattle mixup in rcam's email does go to show that those are not the only be all end all dates.

it's happened before.

often, the entire tour isn't booked when russell sends out his email ...
lots of times, tickets for shows go onsale before they are even listed on
the ig web site.

does anyone know if the venue in co springs is reserved or ga?  any solid
onsale info?  i know the ig site says 10/10, but it seems like it hasn't been
very accurate.
